Alkways a pleasure to in there. I just wish I could take the whole store. And the owner is there, very helpfull and with a big smile to greet you and to send you away with goodies.

It has been 2 times my son and I have been at Visual. The person that helped us was nice and very helpful. He took the time to explain the questions that we had. I definitely recommend it.

In an effort to support local business in my new community I decided to walk the 10 blocks to this store rather than the easily accessible Michaels near my place. I checked the business hours, Sundays 12-5 and was on my way. Upon arrival the door was locked with no one inside, the same business hours posted on the door as online. So I called twice, leaving a message with my name, number and a request for a call back in order to make my purchase another time. A week went by, no call back. I found myself in the area with my roommate so I decided to stop in again. I believe Jared is the name of the owner and who we came in the door to. I asked if he was the owner “depends on who wants to know” he sharply replied. I asked him if he had gotten my call last weekend, he said yes. Long pause....Asked why he didn’t feel inclined to call back or make an effort to reach out in any way. He said if I would have waited longer outside I could have gotten my supplies because he was “just in the back.” How long was I supposed to wait outside for??? We exchanged a few more argumentative words that aren’t worth typing before my roommate and I eventually left, looking each other dumbfounded. It wasn’t the fact I had to go back a second time but the gross attitude and lack of rationale and respect the owner displayed that I can’t handle. A shame because it looks like a nice shop with a great selection, but that isn’t the way to run a business.

Came in on Monday June 13 2016. Great shop, small, lots of art, and paints. The guy who was at the shop (owner?) Was extremely helpful, really nice, and knew his stuff. Will be going back in the future! Rather go here than a corporate arts store any day of the week!

Great and frequent art shows!Excellent quality and variety of art supplies! Id MUCH rather shop here than Blicks for my art supplies. Theres always great art on the walls, and the shows are a lot of fun. I go to many of the openings because theyre really neat and the themes are so original. They have good music spinning, and you can meet the artists and buy the art. I bought two pieces of art from local artists at the last show-- its nice to be able to afford art at an art show for a change. These are local artists so Im very happy to support them.

The owner here is super friendly and knowledgable about everything art. They host exhibitions periodically so they always have art features on the walls here. Such and interesting new take on an art supply store!

Love ducking in here and seeing whats new. Always something fresh on the walls, owner makes a point of supporting local artists both in his shop and on the streets as well. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Truly family owned and operated. This art store is a great spot for both budding artists and experienced ones.

Needed a certain type of pen for a project right away and the man working showed me 5-6 pens and let me try them on the paper Id brought. I purchased two but I was a little disappointed because one of them worked in the store but promptly ran out of ink after about 5 minutes of continuous drawing when I got home. I was using some very thick paper (which necessitated the trip to find a specialty pen in the first place) and I was unsure if the pen was out of ink because of the paper, or because they encourage people to try them out in the store and I happened to pick an exceptionally low one (kind of a double edged sword.)Anyhow, it was convenient and the employee was nice, but there didnt seem to be that many supplies compared to other small art stores Ive seen, leaving the window shopping to a minimum. Oh well! Will definitely go back to purchase another of the style of pen that did work. *thumbs up*

Great little shop, definitely unique to San Diego and well worth the trip in. Good selection of quality spraypaint and markers. smart selection of other basic art supplies that any artist can use.They host monthly artshows and from what I have seen the quality of the artwork and the turnouts are among the best in San Diego. Great range in styles of art and seems to be open to emerging talent as well as more established artists.I had them frame some artwork/prints for me and the prices were very reasonable and the quality of the job was top notch.Overall a great hybrid art shop, solid service, knowledgeable and a laid back atmosphere.

Kinda pricey..as an artist ive shown support in all kinds of ways to This shop and the owner. He will only include u in a show if youre already a well-known artist..really lame.waste of time supporting this place
