When I needed a reliable mechanic, I found AB Auto Transmission Repair in San Bernardino. I spoke to Dan as a result of being referred by a friend and sure enough, Dan was able to schedule my work van in for service. After a diagnostic of my van, it was determined that my work van simply needed factory recommended maintenance and regular topping off of my oil as a result of putting so many miles on my van. I am glad to have found Dan and his mechanics. I will make sure to continue to take my car in for regular service and topping off of my oil. Thanks so much Dan.
Trustworthy and reliable mechanic.
You cant go wrong with a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty! Great People to do business with. Auto Repairs in San Bernardino is Honest, Fair and trustworthy. And I keep saying the same to everyone:) Just an overall great place to get your cars serviced and repaired.
If I could give no stars I would. This place is the worst. They have turned my business away twice. I have set up appoinments a week in advance. The excuse they give is that there was no appointment made. I took down names and spoke with manager Dan/Dave. He told me that I am not worth arguing with. He cant take the car. Instead of trying to resolve the issue. He said this forget my name, forget my address, business name and number. I refuse to work on any of your cars. I have enough work and business without yours. I think the reason this place has been in business for years and has work, is because, it probally takes them years to work on your car repairs. Do not bring your business here. Ownwer also says he NEVER signed up with Triple AAA referrals to begin with. He doesnt care weather they have business or not.
Awful experience....beware of Chris... He did a terrible job with the diagnosis on my vehicle.... kept changing his story on what was wrong with my car.. I got a separate diagnosis from the dealer and Chris was all wrong... He tried to charge me for a part I didnt need that was more than the dealer would have charged.. Refused to honor a coupon I had.. My car ran when I drove it to them..it had a transmission problem.. I had to have it towed out of there due to new engine problems that werent occurring until they messed with it. On top of that he was very rude and arrogant. Do not recommend this place at all....
The best mechanics here. Dan knows what hes talking about.
Would not recommend. No parking in ghetto area. There is nowhere to go when vehicle is being serviced. Service desk is very rude and misleading. Buyer Beware.
Im glad to know that there is still honest and fair auto service when needed. Thank you very much for such great customer service.
Always glad to see Dan and his staff in a great mood. Customer service and auto service are #1. Thank You.
Nice guys to do business with. They always fix my dads car right
Had them rebuild my original transmission when bowtie overdrives sold me a bad trans and was able to build trans to hold up to my 87 firebird and then was put in 66 chevy truck with 425 toque 400 hp for 15yrs and just now went out with allot of abuse of towing track and street use. if i was in cali still i would take back to him to have rebuilt
This is not a comment on the quality of their workmanship, but on the customer service skills of the owner. Im so insensed at what just transpired that I felt I must let other consumers know about my experience so they can decide for themselves. The owner is a very rude person with no customer service skills and seems to want to overcharge without justification. Heres the long story:My car had a slow oil leak which was coming from the oil drain plug, a problem caused by Jiffy Lube tech overtightening the plug. I was advised by the dealership and two other shops that the only way to fix this was to replace the oil pan, since no one seemed to offer a re-threading service.I decided to save money by buying a used but clean and tested oil pan and new OEM gaskets and sealant, then have the labor done at a non-dealer shop. Every shop I contacted, including the dealership, estimated the work to be about 3.5 hours. I contacted A&B and asked them about a quote for the labor. The owner advised me to have the car brought in so they can look at it and determine if they can fix it without replacing the oil pan.My wife eventually brought our car to A&B, and was told by the front desk employee that they wanted to run some diagnostics that would cost an additional $105 to determine if the leak might be coming from anywhere else. I came to the shop at my wifes request to make sure were on the same page. I explained that Im 100% certain the leak came from the oil drain plug, but was willing to consider the diagnostic if they can justify its necessity. I was curious if they based the recommendation for the diagnostic on a visual inspection that indicated problems in other parts of the system or what. The staffer at the front desk was very cordial and was answering my questions. Based on his response, I personally wasnt convinced of the need for the diagnostic but was willing to go with the test to see if it may uncover another issue. It was at this point that the owner decided to enter the conversation from the back room with questionable body language. He seemed annoyed at the notion that I, the customer, would inquire about why they want to run their costly test. He then decided to jack the price from $105 to $150. It was at this point that I asked what they would charge for labor for just replacing the oil pan and the oil pumps gasket. He said they would charge $450 for that because it would take 4.5 hours. The time estimate I received from the dealership and other independent shops was consistently pegged at 3.5 hours, so I asked him why is there such a discrepancy. This is when the owner got visibly upset and said they over-estimate because they want to make sure the job is done right and see if they find any other problems since they are offering warranty. He then suggested it may be best if I take my car elsewhere before asking me to tell him what exactly it was that I was looking for. The whole exchange was ridiculous. Its like this guy lives in the wild west. He asked me to step outside the office and repeated his question about what I was looking for.I told him that Im certain the issue is just the drain plug because it happened after I took it to a Jiffy Lube and their incompetent tech over tightened the plug. The leak had been examined by several shops, including the dealership, and I had been consistently advised to replace the oil drain pan and the oil pumps gaskets. He told me they dont like to do repairs on parts they dont buy because of their warranty. I told him Im not looking for any warranty, only the labor for the work. He told me its best if I take my car out of his shop. The whole time, his body language grew increasingly hostile. It was a very strange experience and I will never encourage anyone to patron these guys.
My mini cooper went on limp mode back in March of 2017 and I went to Two mechanics who could not diagnose my problem and said i needed to take it to the dealer. I decided to give this place a shot so I towed my car in and within an hour they called me notifying me the problemAnd gave me an inspection list of anything else my car might need.
Good honest shop! Dan is a good man and honest and helpful it is hard to find good honesty from car mechanics but Dan is the man!
I bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD from a Chrysler-Jeep dealer in Albuquerque, a truck I discovered on AutoTrader. This was a very low mileage unit and it looked great, but there were no service records. Though it only had 72K miles on the OD, it was a 12 year old truck. I knew the timing belt and associated parts should be replaced; I didnt want to risk blowing up my engine. I talked to a service writer at one of my local (Henderson, NV) Toyota dealers. I wasnt impressed with him, nor with the cost estimate, so I tried to find a reputable local independent mechanic on line. No luck in S. Nevada, but when I expanded my search to San Bernadino, A&B Auto came up. Lots of favorable reviews so I called and spoke to Dan, the owner. We discussed the timing issue on these older interference engines. He knew his stuff. Moreover, the price he quoted for the full timing kit was several hundred less than what the dealer wanted. I drove the 225 miles to San Bernadino to get the job done. In addition to the timing fix (90K miles or 6 years whichever comes first) they took care of the 60K miles major service as well, as it hadnt been done. When everything was complete I had what amounted to a new truck. Im good to go for another 30K miles! Thanks to Toyota and A&B Auto.
The vibe from oldguy was true!!! Straight forward no bull honest service!!!
Great place, honest and reasonable.
Good people there
