I bought my very first mountain bike here last year (I’m in my 30’s!) and really knew nothing about bikes ahead of that big purchase. Since then I’ve had fun upgrading the features and accessories of the bike here and have come in for service twice with both experiences taking exactly how long I expected the bike to be there and with excellent work quality. Every person I have spoken with has answered my questions respectfully and made genuine recommendations - I’ve never felt dumb asking questions to this team. They’ve patiently walked me through maintenance info, always really cool about how they explain it all. This is my bike shop and I’m not going anywhere else.

Friendly and knowledgeable mechanic: I had been having trouble with my e-bike for months and already taken it to two other bike shops without resolving the problem. The mechanic listened to my concerns and not only fixed the problem, but made my bike ride like new. Great service!

I’ve had my entry level Giant Defy for 3 years and have put about 3-4K miles on in it without ever having had it turned. Highland cyclery made my bike like new again! I called Hyland first to inquire about the Marlin 5. They stated they had 8, but were two weeks out. I called six... yes six, other places looking for the Trek Marlin 5 sooner and everywhere was on backorder for the rest of the season. I called back Hyland and placed an order for two bikes, one for me and the other for my girlfriend. As we waited anxiously for two weeks, Lori called us on the estimated date and confirmed the news we wanted to hear... HAPPY NEW BIKE DAY!! We could not get to Hyland Cyclery fast enough. We have never shopped before, but the moment we walked in, I knew that good people were employed here. Lori and the team were so helpful in getting us new helmets, explaining MIPS, and installing water bottle cages. We will be back as soon as we need more equipment to further our love for biking! Bought a mountain bike from this store last year, was a good experience. Went in to get my tires pumped up and have them check on the pressure in the shocks and they were not accommodating at all. I would normally expect there to be loyalty to customers that had bought before. I was fully ready to pay but they didn’t even seem helpful or want to help. No offer to say hey take your bike of your rack and Bring it in and check.

Hayden was knowledgeable, friendly and patient. The staff is professional yet laidback and cool. Buying my first mountain bike was intimidating but Hyland Cyclery taught me so much in the short amount of time I was there. Excited to begin the MTNB journey.

Being someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about cycling, I feel like I can trust the products available in this store and the employees who I interact with. They delivered my new bike within the promised timeframe. The only thing I’d like to see improved is maybe a bit more of a status update as it’s coming along.

I recently purchased a bike from them because my preferred local bike shops didn’t have stock. When I went in to drop off my tires I asked if they happened to have stock of a special item. The 17 year old working there then tried to tell me said item doesn’t exist (it does) and how another expert with over 35 years of experience doesn’t know anything about bikes. The audacity. After this experience I will never shop here again and I will dissuade anyone from going here as well. It was a pushy environment and everyone working there didn’t have the knowledge or expertise required to sell bikes at this price point.

Although car rack had not be put on car and in fact had not even been fully opened (purchased 1 1/2 days prior), they refused to give me a refund only issuing store credit. They were quick to point out I should have read the small print on my receipt and I was equally quick to point out the sales associate has a duty to verbally inform customers of such as not everyone, for one reason or another, can read!!! Besides having to spend the credit there I will NEVER EVER shop there again!!!

Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. Was promised a bike at a certain time. We bought the bike and hoped we would just never go there again. We have a two hour drive to make it there and planned our whole week around the pickup time. Called the day before and they said it should be done. Called the day of and they told us it might not be done at all that day. Found a bike shop with great service who had it built. When we called and tried to cancel our order they told us no refunds. We never have had the bike, it’s not even built yet. So many other great bike shops out there, I encourage you to go anywhere else!

I like the overall vibe of the shop. Everyone is helpful. Even when buisy and under pressure the staff is kind and makes you feel like your being taken care of. Ive purchased two bikes from Hyland now. I wish they were closer to my house in Ogden, but worth the drive for the service and prices you get!

I liked the personalized service and the quality and quantity of bicycles Hyland offered in their store. The store carried many makes and models of bikes so you could try them. They also had stock on hand and they did not have to order the bike I wanted. Other Trek stores could only offer a few months of waiting and maybe getting the bike that I wanted.

Trying to find a child seat to frame mount. Staff did not understand, wouldn’t allow seat measurements. Not sure why brick and mortar exists. Exterior recently painted though.

I came to Hyland Cyclery to buy my first ever road bike. My Mom and Grandpa used to drive all the way down from Davis County to purchase bikes from Hyland, so I knew that this was the best place to go. Im an experienced marathon runner, but was looking to get a bike to commute to my new job on. I didnt get my salesmans name, but he was incredible. He sized me up for the perfect bike, shoes, helmet and shorts for my needs. Like I mentioned above, I am completely new to road biking and had no clue about how to operate a road bike and biking shoes, or other gear was absolutely necessary. We walked through the pros and cons of all the available inventory and tried several different bikes before deciding on my perfect fit. He did so without getting frustrated and was genuinely excited to get me into biking. Im super excited about my purchase and would recommend Hyland Cyclery to anyone looking to get into biking.

Pretty alright service, but they have a terrible return policy. I went trying to shop locally to get some brakes, and avoid going to REI. However, I asked them if they would be the right brakes for my bike, and they said they would be. When I got home to install them, they werent fitting quite right. I thought I could make do, and did one lap around my parking lot to see if they would stop me ok, and decided they wouldnt so I planned to return them. I went back, and they refused to take them back because I put them on my bike for 30 seconds at the most and probably two test stops. From here on out definitely taking my business somewhere more forgiving.

They have a great inventory of bikes, parts, and products. Being able to try on, touch and feel products before I buy is important as well. Buying local is important to me and Hylands prices are fair and bike tuning turn around time was fast, 3 days.

I went into Hyland Cyclery today to get a tune up on my Trek 820 that I bought off of KSL last year. In the last few months, I’ve really enjoyed riding City Creek Canyon and a few other trails. I’ve been riding my bike to work and to visit some friends. Steve looked over my bike and told me what I would need to get it in tip top shape. I decided to look around and so Steve showed me a few bikes, wasn’t pushy, very matter of fact, and didn’t make me feel rushed. I decided to test ride the Marlin 6 after hearing what Steve had to say. Tristen came out with a bike and I rode it around the bank parking lot next door. I couldn’t believe the difference! I felt like I was riding the Lamborghini of bikes compared to my Trek 820.Needless to say, I was at Hyland Cyclery for a good 2 hours or more. Not once did I feel rushed or like I was a bother . Tristen told me about different peddles and shoes and never once tried to up-sell me. He always told me what he thought would be best while I gained more experience.I took this beauty out for its first ride tonight and WOAH, what a difference! It was a night and day experience. I was able to go up hills without feeling like I was dying, the wheels were smooth, the flat riding shoes were great, the gears changed nicely, the handles are comfortable, the entire experience was incredible! I’m really new to the riding world, however I would recommend this bike and this shop 100%. I will certainly be back for more gadgets, bells and whistles, along with my tune ups.Thank you Hyland Cyclery!!!!!

I loved my experience at Hyland Cyclery. I drove 35 miles to pick up my bike and I will do it again. I called down earlier in the day and he pulled the bike off the floor and held it for me. They were very knowledgeable and most of all very kind. I will be returning customer.

Took my bike in for a tune up and left with more problems than I came with. Zach, their main mechanic, was an absolute awful person to work with. He talks down to customers and makes you feel like garbage once you leave. Also, almost crashed really hard because my back brakes went out mid down hill the day I got it back from a brake bleed.

I highly recommend this store. Great selection and even friendly staff. I will be coming back soon.

I wanted a bike for my birthday... my first bike ever but they were all sold out everywhere. Hyland Cyclery was the only bicycle store in both, Utah and Salt Lake county that had the bicycle I needed in stock. I was able to order it online and go pick it up. They were extremely helpful. We didnt have a bike rack and they offered a Thule bike rack for our 2010 SS Camaro and even helped my husband to install it in the car. They went above and beyond. The staff is very friendly and helpful.The seat post on my new bike was a bit too high for me, so I went back in to buy a shorter one. Instead, they told me to bring my post in and they would cut it down to size free of charge. Great customer service!

Local bike shops these days are beset by price battles with online competition so often stock on hand is limited. Hyland has a nice selection of bikes and components which is what brought me in for the first time just a few days ago. Very happy with the service and attention!

Tell her what your plans are, and she’ll point you in the direction of what you need. You’ll only break the bank if you want to, and that’s what I love about Hyland. There is something for every level, beginner or advanced, college student allowance or professional’s paycheck, there’s something here for everyone.
