It is rare to find someone pickier than I am about their cars. But the guys at Utah Imports are an finicky about their work as I am. Ive been to many European shops in the valley. Lots of nice people, but over promise, under deliver and charge more than they deserved. Utah Imports is different, in a great way. My car is always done when they say it will be, almost always they call me before I call them, and my car is always cleaner after they are done than when I dropped it off. If not talking about a quick spray and dry, it is usually fully detailed. And they always come in at or below their quoted price. One time I had some coolant leak on my way home from their shop. Mark made a house call, re-seated a pressurized coolant hose that I couldnt get to seat, and then filled and bled my cooling system, in my garage at 9:30pm. Who does that? Ill tell you who, Utah Imports. Always exceeding expectations. That is why I keep going back.

Utah imports has taken care of my car(s) for many years. They are friendly and highly professional. Their work is excellent and their prices are reasonable. They go beyond repair and maintenance, for example, today I dropped by for a battery for my car key which they took care of at no cost. I also had them check my undercarriage and they did a temporary fix that will last until the next time I bring my car in, again at no cost. I respect and trust their work, I like the staff, and am so glad they have my back. Thanks guys.

HORRIBLE service. HORRIBLE. They said they would give us a “diagnosis”…. Yeah right. They gave us a million maybes… told us they can’t help us…. and then charged us 160$ Horrible.

One of the best places to take your Volkswagen or Audi in Salt Lake City. The staff are friendly, diligent, and hard-working. They get the best OEM parts for all of their repairs, and their turnaround times and prices are very competitive compared to the other options. Would definitely recommend over almost every other place in SLC.

These folks are amazing! All the oil and coolant leaked out of my 2002 Volvo while I was passing through from out of town and they fit me in without second thought. Abstract: 120/100 exceed my expectation and did everything they could in a professional manner and exceptional price. These guys are not your average mechanics but professionals with dignity and integrity.They performed some MAJOR services on my 2006 mini due to overheating issues and wheel bearing issues. As far as the overheating, I could not find the issue so I asked around online forums and made 10+ calls to shops in SLC area. Marc from Utah Imports told me to have my car down there and let their mechanic take a peek. After an hour or so, Jeff the garage owner performed every diagnostics they can run and provided me with a solution and quote. Of course me being a timid European car owner, I called few different so-called Euro-Specialists but no one could match Utah Imports price and professionalism. I am glad that I found the right shop in SLC area.Truly amazing, down to earth people working there with exceptional ethics and professionalism. I do not regret doing business with them and at this point, been doing businesses with them more than several occasion, I do not even bother to compare prices because I know they are the best in terms of price and skills.

I am a car freak and have taken my cars to a ton of places around Salt lake- and usually leave not feeling great about the experience. Whether it was paying way to much, poor service or bad workmanship. However, after taking two cars to Utah Imports, I am a customer for life! Seriously, Mark provides incredible service and is so great to work with, while Jim and the rest of the team perform incredible work. I honestly feel like they are on my side, trying everything they can- to not only do the job right but save me money. I have never walked out of there not feeling great about, how my car runs, what I paid and how I was treated. They really are the best ! Keep up the good work guys !

Ive owned an 87 Vanagon for about 3 years now and kept on with the VW mechanic that the previous owner had been using. Nice guy but I was having all sorts of problems, the van was in the shop all the time, would run okay for a while before the next problem happened. I finally got fed up and after recommendations from other Vanagon owners, took it in to Utah Imports. Several of the repairs performed at the old shop ended up needing to be completely redone, as well as several previously unrecognized problems that were in urgent need of attention, but in the end my Vanagon was running better than it had ever run and here we are after 2 months of daily driving without a single problem. I now understand the difference between repair which the old shop was attempting to do, and restoration which is what Utah Imports did. I am so happy to have found Jim and Jeff and the rest of the Utah Imports team.

Getting your car repaired is a lot like getting a colonoscopy, everyone has to do it at some point and no one really likes it. So I have to say this place made it the least painful as possible. They were very flexible and reasonable to accomodate my needs pricewise, they are extremely knowledgeable and walk you through everything, and they are just friendly. It felt like a real family working there, a bunch of down to earth people who love what they do, and do it well. I really feel like they are a trustworthy business, and I certainly appreciate that with the amount of bad auto service establishments that exist. If you want a place where you can drop your vehicle off, be worry free, and pick it up with all its issues resolved on the first try this is the place for you. I know after my experience I wont bring my R8 anywhere else.

Had a transmission valve body go on my Subaru on a Sunday night. I called multiple shops a dealerships and Utah Imports were quick to get my car in, diagnose the issue, order the appropriate parts and worked with me to have my car ready by Friday (had to get to work by Saturday). They even replaces a small part that prevents the seatbelt buckle from sliding all the way down at no additional cost. Price for the job was very fair, especially considering how busy all of the shops were at the time. Great customer service. Will be using this shop again if needed and referring whoever I can to them.

I asked for specific jobs to be done, they tampered with things outside of my requests, and then left them unfinished.Make sure you are thorough in your requests with UT Imports, and that you have a strong understanding of what you need done. Dont let them use their expertise to take advantage of you.

I have a classic Volvo and theyve scoured the earth to find parts for it without charging me a fortune. Marc, Devin and Jeff know so much about every type of car they service and they manage to keep all of the details straight when theyre giving updates on the progress of your repairs. The most trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanics I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I had a car that needed a lot of work and had been quoted by another mechanic that it could cost $3000 and up if they were to find something else while working on it. Utah Imports fixed my car for $1600 and told me the things the other mechanic said needed to be worked on didn’t! They are fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.

Probably the best experience Ive ever had with repair shop. Mark went out of his way to make sure that my car would be taken care of in a timely manner. Utah Imports did a great job with my BMW 330xi. These guys are very thorough during their inspects and are patient when asking tons of questions to fully understand the situation at hand. I also was very happy that these guys took the time to explain what they saw, as well as offering advice on if it is necessary now or when it may be based upon previous experience.I worked with Devon. He kept in very close contact with many updates which I really enjoyed and made me much more confident/comfortable with what was going on.I also want to commend Utah imports on their warranty process. These guys offer great warranty on their work, and stick true to it. Warranty is frustrating for both parties but these guys welcome you back in the door which is rare in my experience.Would highly recommend. They are also very fast!!

I own a 1995 Volvo 940, 168,000 miles and it’s worth keeping up the maintenance. Marc was very helpful, relaying what should be replaced.

Our Volvo XC 90 started cutting out on hills. Major problem? I didn’t know, but I also knew it had to get fixed. I dropped the car off at Utah Imports on our way out to town for a few of days. They were willing to work with our schedule. About a day later I got a call from Devin letting me know what repairs were needed and the exact cost, down to the penny. It was easy to say “yes, let’s get it done” because the needed repairs were, though vital, not major and the cost much less than I had feared. Since those repairs the Volvo has made a lot of runs up and down the canyon, performing beautifully though lots of different winter conditions.This is a 15 year old, incredibly reliable car that has been routinely serviced by the team at Utah Imports. Jeff is a master at diagnosing problems and doing what’s needed to fix them fixed, efficiently. He has been willing to do whatever it takes to get to bottom of problems and give clear advise about the best course of action. Devin and others on the team are not only great to work with they too, really know what they are doing. They never push repairs, but their occasional recommendations regarding things that can be done to keep the Volvo and our Mini Cooper well maintained and running reliably have been very helpful. We always get the quality service and very fair pricing from the team at Utah Imports. They are real pros.

I live in another state and I am a service manager but a friend recently moved there and Ive been randomly calling shops that deal with BMW to find a place for him to take his car. Gentlemen who answered the phone (parts) was super nice. I immediately sent my friend the link for their shop as the place he should take his car to get serviced now that he lives in the area. Being in the industry for nearly 20 years myself and I will honestly say its rare to encounter such a polite and helpful person in this business that also doesnt treat a woman like she is clueless.

They did not repair my car properly, and were not honest about what was actually wrong, when I took it back to have them look at it they said something else was wrong entirely, and then charged for that info

Took our Subaru Outback in for service about a month ago. They fixed the issues they could and were honest about the issues they couldnt. Im always impressed with their customer service, honesty & fair pricing. Ive come here for years with other cars and will continue to bring our cars in when they need service. Excellent shop. I was on a trip from Virginia to Utah. I had problems with the original turbo on my well loved 280K 2005 VW Golf TDI MK4 BEW, and limped into Utah. I was referred to this shop by a rep at KermaTDI.com, and now I know why. I was able to get into the shop on very short notice. New turbo, which I specified, was installed. A LOT of carbon was cleaned out of the EGR and intake manifold. A repair of the wires to the boost control sensor (common issue, and something I suspected might be wrong) was identified and performed, to clear my check engine light. A broken intake manifold actuator was identified and replaced (they managed to get one next-day during Covid19, amazing), and I was good to go - confident that the job had been done right and was comprehensive. The entire engine is squeaky clean now. It wasnt the easiest of repairs. I have an east coast car, so the bolts are prone to seize with rust. I made it home to Virginia, 2100 miles immediately after the repair, with absolutely no problems, and better fuel economy than on my trip out. My home tech wanted to check out the new turbo and was very impressed with the quality of work done. These guys were great. They were easy to work with, had great communication, went out of their way to get my TDI in and taken care of, had fair pricing, and were very fast considering the job. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. If you have a TDI, they know what they are doing, all generations. Please pass my thanks to the tech who battled east coast rusty bolts and got me home, that I dig the enforced connector on my intercooler pipe, and that my VNT17 whistles to me so sweetly!! Very grateful, looking forward to 300K more on my new turbo.

Simple, honest, easy to work with, fair pricing, quality workmanship. The shift shaft seal on my 1997 A4 1.8T that Utah Imports had replaced a year ago was found to be slightly seeping. Ive got my breaks done here twice. The first time was great. Ive also had some transmission work done when my transmission fluid pan got a dent in it due to a dip. The only thing I can say as of my last time getting work here done is, that the only professional person here is the receptionist. He sounds knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. BUT he is not the mechanic and these mechanica screwed up my new breaks. I got new front rotors and break pads. These puppies were screeching almost less than a month in. When I would come out of park I would get a loud grind when turning my wheels. They prioritize other customers based off connection and Im guessing, how nice your car is. I get it I have a standard Jetta model but I use this car for everyday family events, shopping, work and it goes to show that they dont hold up to their values.

Absolutely love these guys. Have known Jeff for many years and Im glad that hes venturing into the MB repair game too. I trust them to always do the right repair at a fair price. Much better than dealership service and at a fraction of the cost.

Oh my gosh- the owner here is so nice. My husband needed some help with a Mini on the fly and the owner really came through. Utah Imports is great with Mini Coopers and every time Ive been in, theyve been excellent and fixed exactly what I needed on the first try.

Absolutely fantastic service, they spent a day diagnosing a broken down Porsche 944 on a road trip, and only charged me a nominal amount after finding a blown head gasket. Extremely nice, incredibly knowledgeable, they helped me out in a time of need with a friendly smile and reasoned diagnosis. 1000% recommend these guys, they are the best. Jeff knows what he is doing.

They did a great job on my sons car. Very thorough and fair on price. They stuck to what they quoted me over the phone, even though they spent more time fixing it than they originally thought.

My husband and I had a car trouble while we were on our road trip to Utah and Colorado in February. Our coolant was leaking and had to cut our trip short and drove from Moab to Salt Lake City in search of a place that can work on our Volkswagon. We found Utah Imports after we were told by the Volkswagon dealership that they were booked through March. We were on our last week of our road trip and were anxious to get home which was about 10 hours away. Without much options, we took our car to Utah Imports. Initially we were impressed by their service. We spoke with Mark and he got us in the very next day. As we thought, our coolant was leaking so bad that there was no way for us to drive back to Davis safely. They squeezed us in and had it done by the end of the next day. We were thrilled but an hour after we picked up the car, we started smelling gasoline. Both my husband and I thought it was the degreaser burning off from the engine. Hoping it would eventually go away, we kept driving home. Four hours into our drive, our car just died on the freeway near a small town called Winnemucca, Nevada. We had ran out of gas even though it showed that we had half tank left. Luckily, there was a small auto repair shop (Manzos garage) 2 miles away so we had it towed there at 1 in the morning. Next day, when we went to have our car checked out, we found out that Utah Imports had messed with the fuel injector when they were working on our car and had caused a fuel leak. It was leaking so bad that we were lucky that our car had not caught on fire. After waiting for two nights until we got the part to fix our car, Manzos garage fixed the problem and we drove safely home. Unfortunately, when we contacted the Utah Imports for reimbursing us for two nights of hotel at Winnemucca, we were told that they would talk to the owner and get back to us. Well, we never heard from them again, and our phone calls went unanswered. Very disappointing experience and definitely would not recommend.

This place and Devin are ABSOLUTELY awesome!!! They take great care of me and my car. My car is older and Im not nervous of being stranded because they keep it well maintained.

And were super willing to make sure I understood why everything happened on my car! Its always nice to get the opportunity to work with a great company! Theyre working on my car now! Been bringing multiple cars here for several years. Lately I think they are either too busy or distracted somehow. I brought my car in with very specific need and they needed to keep it for over a week to diagnose the issue. But the issue was clear and explained to them when I called for the appointment and again when I dropped the car off. Their end diagnosis was exactly what I explained to them. This used to be a great place but I am now looking elsewhere. Unfortunate because I liked these guys.

Had an engine light turn on and was calling around to see who had openings on short notice. After a few places telling me they were all booked up, I called Utah Imports. I was reassured that it would be a quick diagnostic check - and it sure was! I pulled into the shop and was immediately greeted. I was given a lesson on my problem (weak exhaust vacuum), was taught about my axle’s oil causing that plasticky smell, had the engine light code cleared, and was on my way in less than ten minutes - free of charge! If I’m in the area again and in need of something a bit more labor intensive, they have my business!

I was very impressed with the staff at Utah Imports. I have a daughter that lives in Salt Lake City who was having issues with her car. After having a poor experience at another shop who did $2500 in repairs and still did not fix the car I located them online. I live across the country in NY, but after speaking with them on the phone decided to have her bring the car to their location. They fixed the problem the first time and at less cost than I expected. Devin the service manager went out of his way to help out which is greatly appreciated. I have no reservations about recommending this shop for quality work, fair prices and a helpful and well informed staff.

These guys are awesome: excellent service, technically and in their customer service as well. We were traveling a cross the nation (Oregon to Florida) and our car broke down at Salt Lake City. The Utah Import team helped take care of the problem caused by another mechanic! They also lent us a loaner vehicle for the time they were taking care of ours. Highly recommended.

I have owned several VW cars and I have taken them to Utah Imports for maintenance and repair. I recently had the turbo fail on my car and it caused a lot of damage. Utah imports was very considerate and helped me work with an insurance adjuster going above and beyond to help the process along. When you stop by, ask for Devin, hes the real MVP. I desperately needed a pre-purchase auto inspection and even though they were slammed, he still managed to squeeze me in. He and his guys went through every little detail about the car I was looking to buy. After my experience, it was clear that these guys take great pride in their work and truly care about their customers. I wont take my vehicles anywhere else but here, 10/10 would recommend.

The transmission on my mini recently blew and I was desperate for a car. Jeff and Mark worked tirelessly to finish a car that I could trade my mini for, plus a bit of money. I’ve worked with them before and they’re always honest. I highly recommend them for work on your car or to buy a used one. I really can’t say enough good things about them- and I’ve been doing business with them for years.

Very impressed with this place. I took my 2005 Volvo in expecting that it needed a tune-up. Later that day I called them and they told me that I wasnt due for a tuneup yet so they didnt do one. They did however, go ahead and change the oil. When I asked the mechanic if the oil was particularly bad since I had just changed it a month back- he told me that he actually didnt check to see how bad it was first but he wouldnt charge me if I just had done it myself. VERY honest place- will definitely come back here and refer anyone to do the same....

Travelling on a long roadtrip from Canada in our 86 Westfalia. Called them up on our list of 8 other recommended shops in the area, and Jeff was fantastic! He squeezed us in right away when he found out we were broken down on our roadtrip, when every other shop wouldn’t take the time to even look at it. Diagnosed the problem and fixed it within a few hours. Even had the part we needed which we were told previously by other shops would have taken at least 3 days to get in. Thanks so much Jeff! This is the VW shop I have been looking for. Not only did they provide a very high level of expertise in diagnosing and repairing my engine problems but also went the extra mile in providing transportation when I dropped off and picked up my car. The staff was friendly and they diagnosed my eurovan’s problem quickly. The van was ready to go within a couple of hours and the price was reasonable. I will be returning to Utah Imports for any future service for my Eurovan.
