Horrible.... its no longer a parts store ...just tires and not even the correct sizes. Im surprised there is even people still working there. Complete waste of time. Dont bother with the round lake beach store unless you like disappointment
The service was great. I want to make special note of the service manager. He was very friendly and helpful. He was one of the best customer facing people I have dealt with 8n a long time.
I got full use out my tires.😄😂 pep boys had a buy 3 get one free deal on tires with free installation. Great service guys, thank you Bryan.Only downside was they didnt change/check or ask if I wanted new valve stems so my new tires slowly leak and every few days I have to put air in them. Yeah.. Ill have to take it back for valve stems. 😡 thats what happens when you rush through the job. Attention to detail guys!!
This place is terrible. I took my vehicle in for a diagnostic, the car would turn off mid drive. They assured me that the issue is the water pump and thermostat and that the vehicle was over heating. The insane costs to repair of $1,200 is more than the vehicle is worth. Changed both of those items myself and flushed out the antifreeze and put new antifreeze. The vehicle is continuing to have the same issues. I called to tell them and now they are saying it was pretty much only a starting since the water pump had a leak. They refuse to re-diagnose without another fee nor give any credit because I worked on the car. Go to Firestone or NTB, anywhere but here. This place has definitely dropped quality wise over the last three years.
My parents were visiting from out of town and we discovered a leak in one of his corvette tires on a Sunday afternoon. Antonio got us right in and Cody took great care of not only tire but the overall car. Thank you gentlemen!
I waited her FOUR hours just for a five minute inspection. Thwn they twll me to come back next Sunday for the repairs, no quote, no appointment. He said we open at 9am, get here first and well get you in right away.So I got here at 7am and sat outside the door waiting for them to open. Then I walk in and the man tells me ill be waiting a few hours because they have FIVE appointments already.I explained to this man that I sat here FOUR hours last Sunday and I was told to get here first thing in the morning to get my repairs. He basically said too bad, we have appointments first. So now Im sitting here again for an UNKOWN amount of time and I dont even know what the cost will be, I never got a quote.I definitely do NOT recommend this company to anyone.Ill never get eight or nine hours of my life back.
Great all round service.
Online appointment made. Was told 1 1/2 hours because they were busy. Then told me I had no option on oil. They gave me ride home (6blocks) to wait. Called me 1 1/2 hrs later to ask if this was an overnight keep. I said no, had they read their appointment info it clearly stated I would wait. I demanded they come get me and bring me back to my car. First, read your own appointment info. Second, an hour and a half for an oil change is ridiculous as well as $84.00.for oil change. Never got my oil changed and am now driving past my regularly scheduled maintenance and risk voiding my warranty. NeverEver go there.
Had a flat, they fixed it on Memorial Day. Brian was very nice and accommodating.
2-Stars because Im happy with the gentleman that works the front desk and his ability to pay close attention to my requests, he also dealt with an upset customer as I walked in and handled it very professionally.I hate to say it though guys, I know whats wrong with my vehicle.. I took it to you to figure out the electronic situation. Car went in with front right headlight and tailing electric issues, replaced bulb numerous times on both, along with braking issues. After diagnostics I was told that the back light had filled up with water... Which it hadnt and still hasnt... Bulbs have been replaced numerous times, shop told me that the light in the front was just dangling and works fine when put into the socket, which is incorrect.. Ive tested the line with a voltmeter, theres no electrical connection running to this point so not quite sure how we reached this conclusion... All said and done, to repair brakes and fix these minor issues that I was told were likely resulting from a bad power line, $2300 ... Ouch... Considering I double check to make sure I know what Im dropping this off for its sorta sad that some issues were fabricated and others were real.. Willing to work with me on price due to cost concerns, but honestly, 2300$ is alot of money to fix these issues, and when I asked for a copy of the estimate they drew up, MR at front desk told me they cannot make me a copy and had me take a photo with my cellphone instead... 300$ for diagnostics and you cant make me a copy?
Our family has been to PepBoys one too many times and they have officially lost our business! My husband took his Chevy Silverado in (December 2020) after hearing some screeching in his breaks. They said it was break dust, cleaned them off and said not to worry. There was no charge. Two months later (February 2021) something is definitely wrong - he goes back in and the break pads are so worn down that his rotors now need replacing too. Surprise, surprise! Rotors might have been fine had the breaks been addressed back in December. My husband called and asked for a refund for ONLY the rotors. They gave us the run around, sent us to some district manager who should have approved a refund if he saw how many times we’ve been to PepBoys over the years with all of our families’ vehicles. Instead, he said he would talk to the owner of this Round Lake location to give us a partial refund and a call back. Now it’s April 2021 and guess what? No partial refund of any kind folks. Going to post about this in my Round Lake and Grayslake moms groups now. Moms listen to other moms and we rely on safe vehicles to transport our kids!
Ive been going there many years. Are you guys just a tires and service shop now? No more filters, oil, and parts department in the store?
Bryan was a great help when I needed new tires. He helped me price shop, gave me an accurate estimate, and showed me what work needed to be done.My tires were bought and put on in about 2 hours, just like he said.I was very happy with the service.
I had changed all 4 tires. after that there is always something related to tires that your experts are not able to fix. first, they didnt install tires correctly due to which air was keep leaking out in 2-3 days. it took them to fix 5 visits. but my warning lights were still on (seems like they messed up sensors). it took them 3 visits to keep changing tire sensor. now it is still showing waring light.in their bill, they charged me store Fee. and when i asked Manager (Robert) said, we always charge these extra store fee because while fixing cars, we put extra protection (cushion etc.) so car doesnt get damaged and for that we charge extra STORE FEE.Really!!! you think anybody would buy your reasonings !!!i didnt see this charge store fee when i got the tires changed!!! are they trying to charge me indirectly that i am not responsible of? i have all the work orders that i can show.i visited stores 8 times. sometime i had to take Uber and time off from my work. so i wasted my time and money both
If I could leave a 0 star review, I would! Bryan has now tried to take me for a ride multiple times. Today I called him out and was completely disrespected. If you compare their policies to other adjacent companies, they dont line up at all! They are just trying to make a dime. And Bryan cant handle being called out, specifically by women, I would guess. And the person who brought my car around didnt have his mask on in my vehicle!#firestone all the way!
Why take my number and never call back to follow up on buying a set of 4 tires. I was also planning on getting some other work done as well. I called today at 1:30 PM. Pretty sad because we used to get great service here in the past
Went there on a Sat. to have tires fixed from leaking rims. They did a good job fixing that problem, tires dont leak anymore. I noticed on the following Mon driving at hwy speeds a heavy amount of vibration or shimmy in my steering wheel and it pulled rather hard to the left, a problem that was not present before I brought it to them. I called them to let them know and set up a date to fix it again on that Fri. Friday I had my wife call to make sure I would get right in so i wouldnt need a ride and they said I was gonna be a couple of hours. IMO when a repair is not complete or a mistake is made the 1st time you get the problem fixed even if you have to pull someone off a job currently going on, After all I did wait over 4 hrs the first time and my bill had been paid as well. I was not about to wait a couple hours more. Took it to my local shop and even though they were very busy with other cars took a guy off a job to help me. It took them JUST 10 min and $12 from start to finish and no more issues. I GIVE THEM JUST 2 STARS....Poor customer service.
Stay away from this place on two separate ocasions they quoted my rapairs out of rabit hat first was replacing wheel hub 700$ dealer recomended stud replacment 135$ second time they wanted replacement in my work truck rear diferential 3500$ it turnd out to be rear emergency brake failure 245$.
I had some less than stellar work done prior to coming to this location. I was told some things were wrong that turned out to be untrue. These guys couldve just agreed and charged me to do work that didnt need to be done but they were honest. Robert and Bryan were both excellent in work and service. Id definitely recommend these gentlemen as s this location to handle your automotive needs.
Robert helped me pick the right tires for my truck, I got a good deal on the buy 3 get 1 free deal, and it was done quickly. Everything you can ask for.
I came into your location from Waukegan after seeing online that you had the tires I was looking for and for a good price. I made the appointment for 9 am on 12/6/19. I walked in and wasnt helped until about 9:15 am because one guy was on the phone and others were busy! The guy who was apologetic at first was named Brian(assistant shop manager he said). He asked for my information and I soon discovered that I was not being given the 10% military discount. After some arguing back and forth, I also asked him to break down the charges before I commited because I wanted to make sure I was getting the sale price for the tires. After coming to an agreement on the price, I left the car to be worked on. Brian told me it was going to take about 2-3 hours. I called around 12:00 pm to see what the status of the car was. I was then told that they couldnt find one of the tires. I asked how much longer it would take to finish the car and Brian told me it would take another hour. So the hour goes by and I went back to the store to talk to them in person. Brian again tells me that they still could not find the tire. This whole time Im thinking why they wouldnt call me to let me know there was an issue. I could have made a decision earlier whether to put the old tires back on and take it to another shop or keep waiting. I instructed him to place the old tires so I can leave. Brian did not apologize once. Also he argued about the length of time my truck was at the shop stating that it hadnt been 5 hours. I left the store at 2:15 pm and as stated above my appointment was at 9:00 am. This was the first and last time I will be coming to the Pep Boys in Round Lake.
Had a blowout on the freeway and Larry made sure I was taken care of and back on the road!!! EXCELLENT service!!!
No matter what counter you go to or what service you need, they either ignore you or they make you feel like youre bothering them.
So I called a few days ahead to get pricing for new tires and for some brake parts I had already purchased to be installed. I was quoted a price that was agreeable. I take in the car and they change the price to almost double because supposedly I was quoted wrong. Cool, I opted to just do the tires. I return to the store to be greeted by a very impolite service person named Guy. Did not have a good experience. Only recommended for an emergency, I guess but write down your quotes, so they won’t fool you later.
These liars told me the cost of TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR is $ 94 and replace cost $12 total with tax will be $110 when the work is done. I received the bill for $ 152 when I asked them why this amount. They told me we have told you the repair price will be $152 and this is not correct they just want to take the money. do not go there
Best service. great staff. Ty Brian
Ive been here 4 times in last last couple of months. Everyone has been really friendly and helpful. Ive always felt like I was getting the best advice and the best price.
Great service! Above and beyond. Will be back.
Very helpful
Youre always afraid going into any car place to get any kind of service done. Afraid of what they might charge you and if things will be done correctly. There is none of that worry with this location. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Even without the family influence, this would be the spot I would be sure to take my brand new vehicle to for anything. I will drive away knowing that everything was done correctly, with a decent price and with some of the best service that is out there today.
I recently spoke with Kevin (the Mgr.) on a concern on my 99 4 runner that has 220,000 miles on it. He could not have been more professional. Also Brian the service writer, is a nice guy as well and seems to be upfront about everything. This is not my first rodeo.. and for the most part, among ALL repair shops in lake county they fairest with their prices and most honest of them all. Or in other words, this is the best run Pep Boys crew/location I have come across. BTW, Scott is also a great Technician to work with.Mark S.Applied Inspections
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY RETURN IN ORDER TO GET THE PROPER WORK DONE OR THEY SUGGEST WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BUT IT ISNT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. TOOK MY CAR IN OCTOBER 2018- HAVE BEEN HAVING CONTINUOUS ISSUES SINCE THEN. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
My Honda pilot was in desperate need of new tires. After calling around to several stores and looking online I decided on pep boys. Upon walking in I was greeted by manager Kevin, who very informative and steered me in the right direction. Being able to get affordable tires and only tires when walking into an auto store is hard to find. All in all a GREAT EXPERIENCE, and the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable!!!!
Had a nail in my tire - generous kind help found here. Had me back on the road super fast on a day where they were obviously very busy! Thanks Pep Boys!
Bought a battery for my car, which was having issues starting. Sal (the guy helping me) brought out some jumpers to help me get the car started and get me on my way. Extremely helpful staff and reasonable prices.
We set an appointment for 130. We arrived around 1 and were assured that they were going to get it in the shop in 30 minutes so we were thinking everything was fine. We leave the store to kill time and come back at 230 and see our car not touched. I lose it on the manager Jose who told me that they would get in immediately. I asked him what the point was of making a 130 appointment if you weren’t going to do it at 130? He said you get an appointment to get your serviced “sometime that day”. 3 hours later, we get in the car and low tire warning was on the dash, it wasn’t on it when we got there. There were a few other employees that I aired the same grievances to and they informed that typically, it’s like going to a doctor office, things happen and appointments get pushed, but that they are very clear when letting customers know that. There were two opportunities for them to do it. once when I set the appointment and once when we arrived. To let me know an hour after my appointment time that they were just getting to the car, is poor. I get it, things happen, and then to top it off the low tire sensor? They over inflated the tire right away though, they made that good an explained that the tires are cold and that is why. And that’s great, some service was great, and some very terrible which is why I gave it a one star, becasue I’d give it zero if possible. make sure if you go here, you are going to make a day of it. the people I talked to failed to let me know that information so hopefully this helps anyone planning on going there for service.
Great - Honest - Service!! The staff were helpful and courteous each time I walked into the store. Spoke with the manage Kevin and he didnt push any unneeded services and was refreshingly honest and helpful. That is hard to come by in this day. This is a great store to come to for any of your service needs. I highly recommend.
I got all four tires done at pep boys and a wheel alignment. The front desk sales man kept trying too up sell on services i wasnt interested in or didnt need at the moment. The technician that worked on my vehicle did a good job and explained to me what other services i might need in the future. Overall i would recommend them specifically for tire and wheel needs ! The prices for tire and wheels are competitive with other places.
I thought all pep boys prices were all the same but apparently not, this pep boys is more expensive, and waiting room is dumpy . Standing at the counter waiting to be helped and the guy behind the counter just walked away. Strongly recommend dont bring your car here.
I did a brake pad/rotor replacement on my 2011 Sonata here recently, the job was done on Time, even earlier than expected, car was clean they even threw in a free tire rotation. Staff is really friendly and even offered a few pointers on how to brake in the new brakes. Dropping off and picking up is a breeze, very good location.
I have tried thier oil change service twice. I have scheduled the avaialble appointments and have always had to wait an hour plus for an oil change!!!! So ridiculous. On top of that the men they have at the service desks are very short with you and seem to not know what they are doing.
Just dont go here...
Friendly and helpful, great serviceRecommend far and close by service 👌
Very helpful
Excellent customer service provided by all the staff every time I come in, especially by Manager Ryan, who is extremely helpful, professional and knowledgable. I will keep comimg here because they truly provide exceptional customer service!
I brought my car to get oil change and change my rear tires at 2 oclock. They said it will be done in an hour and a half or to 2 hours. 2 hours and a half later, I went to check to see if my car is ready but they said they havent got to do it yet. So they said they will try to get it done in an hour and a half before they close at 6. They sure did got it done before they are close but they DID NOT change the oil! It still pop up as low engine oil. They also charge for that service! I will never come back again
Worst customer experience ever! Alex the assistant manager has terrible customer service skills. I needed new brakes and rotors installed and quoted me a price over the phone and after it was all done the price went up $75!!! I even called three different pep boys and they all quoted me the price which was $75 less! I asked him if his is how they get people in the store by lying an deceiving the customer and he goes yes, how about we high five. Ive never been more insulted or had this poor of an experience ever. Alex definitely needs some major customer service training. It all seemed like a joke to him and he never once apologized for mis quoting me or anything. Beware of shady sales men here. Take your business elsewhere.
Bought 4 new tires and had them installed there. Upon checking tires after I get home I see only one new valve stem was installed. Rims are all marked up as well.I am NOT HAPPY.
Great prices, awesome customer service, what more is there to say really? The employees there are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The manager (Kevin I believe) answered all the questions I had about my cars issues and even recommended the best, most cost efficient solution to my problem! A+
If I could give them zero stars I would. Extremely rude and unprofessional, service is over priced. Ive worked as a Sears tire tech before, this was a simple tire patch and they said they couldnt do it, the nail was over an inch away from side wall. I told them that theres other tires shops that can do it and the rude worker said ok, well take it to them...” pretty much told me to take my business somewhere else. Which I did and its all patched, with no complications. Definitely wouldnt recommend these guys, they dont want patch tires. Rather sell you a new one.
Set an appointment for shocks & struts replacement 4 days in advance. Also asked them to diagnose an engine warning light. They assessed my suspension and engine for $120, but told me I did not need shocks/struts but new tires. Then offered a long list of possible issues they could do that MIGHT fix the engine light and occasional stalls. Yes, tires were needed but the need for shocks were absolutely undeniable--and verified by several other mechanics. PB gave an extremely high estimate compared with other service centers, which I declined especially after learning they would need to order parts and have me bring the car back in. I called another center and had the work done much cheaper and faster, but I still had to pay Pep Boys $120 to MIS-diagnose my car.
I came out to this location from Lombard, IL because they were highly recommended by a friend...I was not disappointed. An associate of the store / manager, Kevin, assisted me while I was there. He was knowledgeable and made everything easier on me. I will definitely make the trip out again, when needed. I will also be making the same recommendation, I received from friends, to other friends and clients at work.
The service was indifferent. Guy could not have cared less and personally turned me off to this place. He seemed put out by my question if the mechanic had checked the cooling liquid as asked. When asked if it was filled when I checked out, he said, We dont do that. This information was not shared when I dropped the car off. While I did not have an appointment, an hour and a half is a long time to wait for an oil change; it was also me, not Guy, that signaled my car was ready because it was sitting in the lot. Unacceptable service and would recommend avoiding this place. There are too many oil change places around to choice this one and be treated in such a poor manner.
They were so nice! Will be taking my car there again! ♡
Horrible costumer service. I made an appointment for 3pm and I still waited 40 minutes, so I left the store very upset with no apologies or anything.. I do not recommend this place if your time is valuable
Dont go here. Got four new tires, mechanic scratched up my rims, through the paint, primer, and in to the metal on three rims. Pointed it out, he said I was crazy, talked to the manager, he said I was making it up to scam them and get free stuff. Called corporate and they were very helpful, talked with the regional manager who was very helpful, told me to go back and they would replace my rims. Went back and the manager continued to give me a hard time, finally got new rims ordered, had to go back a third time to get them swapped out, same mechanic pulled my car in back, then came in to the store and complained to employees and other customers on the floor about how it was bull, all pretty much right in front of me, almost three hours later he was finally done, new rims needed slimmer lug nuts, so the mechanic was nice enough to leave the old dirty ones on my seat, of the four new rims, one was missing a center cap, and one had two big dents in it, got my old rims back and they are now ALL scratched and gouged, please if you have nice things and/or like being treated like a decent human being, stay far far away.
Time was long, but friendly staff . Got my car towed in last minute, they accepted my car & helped me get what I needed done . Would recommend this place to someone if they had time to leave their car there for a few hours .
Brought the car for diagnosis. The car was drive able. When picking it up after they diagnosed the car, the car is stuck in the gear - never ever bring stick shift car to them. The car is stuck in a first gear. Now they want to charge money to fix it! I was a long term customer, spent thousands of dollars there on repairs - never ever again!!! Terrible place.
I called to price tire repair for my daughter. When we got there they told me they ran out of time to patch a tire 3 hours ago. Really its a 5 minute job. My daughter ended up stranded in the parking lot with her kids because they couldnt be bothered with a quick repair. Lousy Customer service. If I was buying 500 Im tired I am sure we could get some help.
I brought my Honda in for brake service, after the rotors were rusting. Although I live in Chicago, I was on the road. I went to the Round Lake Beach Pep Boys, and I was duly impressed. They talked to me about the myriad of options I had for parts, OEM, aftermarket, and generic. The manager, Kevin told me why a replacement was necessary, and that a simple resurfacing would result in vibrations. I opted for parts that are not only guaranteed, but came at a fraction of the cost I would have had to pay at my dealership. Even though I live far, I will continue to travel out to Round Lake Beach for any major auto work because I know I can save money and will be treated like a highly valued customer.
Did not get ripped off. & they were very pleasant to deal with. Definetly going back
Ryan is amazing. So is jacob, dakota and a few others!!!
Parts department is overpriced and staffed by severely ignorant people who make you feel like you are wasting THEIR time by asking questions. Highly DO NOT recommend coming here. Spend your money elsewhere.
Love pep boys!!! You guys always get the job done :) I had my clutch replaced and car feels brand new the way it drives. Thank you so much!!
I went to Pep Boys service dept. because of a coolant leak. I pointed out to the service manager the leak in the heater control valve. Pep boys did a dye test even though I pointed where the leak was. They said it needed all new heater hoses, a heater hose assembly, heater hose connection and with the other expenses, it came up to almost $400. I wanted a second opinion and brought my SUV to a garage two miles up the road and they said the Heater Hose control valve was the only thing that needed to be replaced. An hour later, my truck worked perfectly for $210 less than what I was quoted by Pep Boys. I could never recommend this place because they try to upsell into parts and services not needed.
I went in for an oil change and tire rotation they told me on week days they only charge $19.99, I was charged more of course. Well in the oil change, they were supposed to do a diagnostics test, which they said they did. Well, the day after my oil change, my car will not drive forward. The transmission fluid was almost empty. And I already knew my blinkers were acting weird. I got my car towed to the Pep Boys and they said the car drove fine, the blinkers work, and the transmission fluid is full. I believe theyre just trying to cover who ever screwed up the day before! I am furious with them. WORST experience ever! Do not come here.
11.20.2015 UPDATE: I received a voicemail from Pep Boys about my complaint. I appreciate the quick reply. I have removed my original post and will provide an update pending my discussion with management. Thank you.
Worst service ever i just took car there Wednesday they call thusday say this is problem we have to order part will be ready Friday well Friday comes no call no nothing i finally call them and they say oh part didnt come in they dont know when part is coming in that i can pick up car till it comes in when car isnt drivable so unprofessional dont ever bring your car there
Had everything I was looking for in stock, new black license plate brackets, small digital tire pressure gauge and a K&N drop in filter for my vehicle. Store was relatively clean and has friendly staff to help you find whatever your looking for.
It was a very long wait and I had 2 diff people helping me and I cam honestly day that I thought both were rude. Not crazy rude but rude enough to annoy me and then on top of that they lost my keys. I did find places that were cheaper and seemed like a better choice but my situation called for the nearest place which was here. If something like that happens again I would probably go here but if it wasnt an emergency and I had the means to go somewhere else I will def go else where.
Service writer is misleading. The website states they do FREE check engine light tests. Told me it was going to be a 100$ charge. After telling me it was going to cost 400$ to repair my vehicle, I asked why the website states it is a free check engine, and you are requesting 100$ & he told me that I needed a full diagnostics not just a basic test. However, I was never even offered a FREE one to begin with. As soon as I showed up I was told it was 100$. I am not sure if it was because I has a higher end sports car or not. I proceeded to have the vehicle repaired as I was already there, but credibility is key to me, and unfortunately that has been lost.
Went in to order some tires for my car. They told me they’d order and to call the following Sunday to see if they’d come in. So i called and they told me they were on back order? Okay.. so they said they’d give me a call when they would be sent. Weeks later i get no call. So i call today and ask what’s up with my tires and the man who answered the phone just said “Oh yea we can’t get them.” Umm??? They never called me to let me know. So they just expect me to call every day to see if my tires will ever come in? I work customer service and that was trash. Don’t recommend pepboys. Discount Tire in RL is the place to go 👍🏻
Absolutely awful experience...The customer service was terrible! Even though we spent almost $1,000 on tires and break repairs they lacked the skills to properly serve us. I waited almost 30 minutes before being greeted by anyone, my car was not ready when they said it would be, and I payed more for the service than originally quoted. Next time, Ill pay extra and go directly to the dealer. Trust me, its worth it!
Same old, same old. Stopped coming here cuz they take longer than they tell you, most employees are not friendly. Getting TWO tires put on, been here 1hr and 15m. Still waiting. Discount Tire in R.L.B. waaaaay better. Wouldve been outta here 30 min ago. Plus bugs in waiting area EVERY TIME. Its 19° out!
Had a trailer hitch put on my vehicle, but was not charged correctly. When called Rudy was fantastic to work with. However, when the issue was turned over to Troy (The store manager) he turned out to be a real jerk! I was very disappointed, and will never have anymore work done at this location!
The worst.. they stripped my wife’s oil pan screws out and blamed it on the last place she was at. My wife came straight home and I climbed under the car and it was obvious they were freshly stripped screws. It’s also clear they did it because they did not offer her to fix or replace, they pretty much sent her away to avoid the responsibility.. it only costed me 10 dollars to replace. For auto services that avoid responsibility or to just send her away like that will be those automotive services that will try to get over on ppl that have no knowledge of automobiles. we will absolutely take our business somewhere else!!
I should of read the reviews b4 I decided to use this store.I had an appt for 9 am when they open, thinking I was first to be served. I was informed it would be a little over an hour to complete the job and I let the service writer know I would leave and be back in an hour to pick up my vehicle. I came back at 1030 and they have NOT even started! No phone call to me to let me know they were running late? And now.....12:00 and Im stilllllll waiting!!!Same scenario as several others, and altho the standard reply says they are sorry Pepeboys has still done nothing to fix the same issue???Not coming back EVER. Not even for misc items. There are other shops to use.
The manager is a really nice guy. I got the wrong belt for my car, and came back at 8:30 after close. I came up to him fuming but he was able to not only resolve my situation but go above and beyond and help me figure out what belt I actually needed.
Great place to get ur vehicle checked out
My wife blew 2 tires a mile from our house.Only had 1 spare. I went to Pep Boys to get a tire to take the car home as it was on a Friday after 7pm They quoted me $104.00 for the tire and I had to have the tire balanced for $35.00 . I asked why, as I only needed it to go 1 mile. I was told it was a state law. When I objected they told me it was Pep Boys policy and there was nothing they could do.Looked at the receipt after I got home and they replace the valve stem also. The Firestone dealer across the street would sell me a tire without balancing if they had my size. Seems to me your $104.00 tire would never be $104.00 so why tell a customer it is $104.00. Shame on you Pep Boys for your policy
I have been to this Pep Boys a few times, only because it is close to me. I have not had the best service there in the past. I was in for an oil change just before Christmas and the place seems to have improved a lot. The new manager, Kevin even came up to me this time and talked to me to make sure I was happy with everything. I usually do not write reviews, but I was so impressed with the changes here. Whatever you guys are doing, keep it up!
One star for its location... I went there to change my vans tires. They took my van, my keys, my money and asked me to come back in 3 to 4 hours, which I did. I returned 4 hours later and by then they did not looked at my van at all. The lady told me that it was impossible that someone would have taken my van for service that day because the shop was full and they were behind schedule... She spent around 30 mins looking for the papers and never found them, and I had to literally point with my finger where my vans keys were, and there were no documents attached to them. The manager finally stepped in and immediately the took the van and asked me to return in 1.5 hrs. By then, they just apologized for the misunderstanding. Horrible service in general!
Made an appointment over the phone. When we got there they didnt have a record of the appointment and we had to leave the car. $24.95 oil changeended up costing me $48. I paid an EXTRA $14 for an oil filter that I can buy at the parts counter for $12. Staff didnt care. Well show me the coupon . ...We gave you the coupon when we dropped the car off!
I called and asked how much they charge to press in a wheel bearings if i bring the parts into them. They said $25 for a walk-in. When I get to the store, they tell me $35 for a walk-in. I demanded that they honor the price that they told me on the phone, and they just laughed at, me. Waste of time and money! Ive heard many other bad things about the management and mechanics at other PB locations around the midwest too.UPDATE: My girlfriend took her car there for wheel balancing before checking with me. After 5 days one of the weights fell off! Took it back and they fixed their mistake. Surprise, another week goes by and yet another weight falls off another tire. My gf was furious that these goofs cant even put a simple weight on a tire rim. Total time & travel wasted: 6 hours. These goofs are just unbelievable..they charge near dealership rates and their work is FAR FAR below standard.
Great service nice polite employees and knowledgable of auto repair will keep going back for service
Came through when I needed my locking hitch pin to be cut off with a torch. Quick work and personal service.
They could not comprehend that Uber and Lyft are rideshare companies. When mentioning rideshare, the manage said they only do Uber and Lyft. Tried to even explain but only got a blank stare. Dont ask them if they work on tires, you might get the same blank stare. Mention the brand of tire.
Well it seems most pep boys are eliminating sale floor space for more room for inventory, the reason I would come here was for the large selection of things even though it was a bit out of the way, but now its no better than the other parts store. Guess I wont be coming here anymore
The manager really helped my out with the warranty on my tires. Great guy with great costumer service.
These guys are rip offs! I paid $300 for a tire rotation, battery charge and new tires. The very next day my tire went flat. After taking it to Sears I found out they took my new battery and replaced it with an old one. Messed up the rim on my tire so it wouldnt hold air. Did not do a tire rotation and altogether cost me another $272 to get everything fixed that they stole or messed up. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! They are straight ripping people off. Not to mention it took them 3days and Sears 2 hours.
Awful, unorganized, and never got my tires put on even when I had an appointment. I made an appointment online for 1 pm. Got to the place at one, and told me that putting on 4 tires would take around 90 minutes. Went to local coffee shop for 75 minutes, came back and they told me that had not gotten to my car yet and he didnt write it up (so obviously it wasnt his fault) had to leave in 15 minutes to get back to work, so needless to say I never got my tires or an apology. Last time I will go here.
I scheduled an appointment online at around 11am for 6pm that night for a oil change. I received a confirmation text from Pep Boys confirming my appt. I showed up and the guy at the counter asked me if i set up the appt online, i said yes, he said we dont book same day appts and he wouldnt take me. He also said he called everyone but some people didnt answer. Seriously... have you ever heard of leaving a message. I never even received a call to cancel. I am shocked and appalled this place is still in business. I would never recommend anyone waste their time with this place. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
They will try to cheat you, look at your receipt, When they mention ANYTHING is included STUDY YOUR RECEIPT.They will lose parts on your and try to say you never brought it.They will do a half baked job, then ask you to drive your vechicle and when your car gets damaged because you drove it, they will try to blame it on anything but their shoddy workmanship .Understand if your getting anything done here besides putting air on your tires, be prepared to taken advantage of, be alert and on guard, do not trust anything they say until you can full varify.
Poor customer service at the repair automobile desk. Pep Boys need significant change in customer service interaction after many years shopping here, area or corporate people no precense visits here, I havent seen them yet!. my complaint at the store. PEP BOYS IN ROUND LAKE BEACH HAS A GREAT DEAL OF HOMEWORK IMPROVEMENT IN CUSTOMER SERVICE INTERACTION, PLUS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CONCISTENCY...👎btw( is there a manager here)???
Military discount, great services, love their honesty! I went to workout next door (la fitness) and it was ready before I even finished my usual routine.
Placed an order via internet to pick up. As soon as I arrived, service dept. was getting it ready to bring to the front for me. I did ask the service guy if he could do me a favor to help me put it in a cart to make it easier to carry out as it would have been awkward walking out w a radiator in hand. Guy just walked away once he set the box on the floor in front of the cashier.
Good service and knowledgeable staff. Able to use coupons for repairs.
This place is horrible ..they don’t respect your appointment so don’t waste your time doing it.and if they do take you wait like forever.i don’t recommend this place 8====D
This place can be such a scam. They charged me over $1000 to have a creeking sound fixed on my Wifes front end. They didnt fix the issue, I dont think they even test drove it, becuase it happens by just lurching forward with the car. I call them up and they look at it again free of charge after explaining that I shouldnt HAVE to pay again for a service I already payed for.An afternoon later, they call me up and say I have to pay them another $1200 to fix the actual problem that they claim was the engin mounts. He also goes on to tell me this is not a critical issue and is purely cosmetic. My wife calls BS, I agree and decide to have someone who knows what they are doing to fix it later. Before all this, we took her car in for new rear brakes, they did it wrong or dropped something in the brake pad that caused a gash in the disk a day later. Took it in and they replaced it, after reasoning with them to do it for free. The brakes are still not %100 from what they used to be after being completly replaced. Fail! Conclusion - Staff is friendly (at counter and over phone). The people actually doing the repairs probably dont even have a GED, cause they cause more problems than they try to solve. Stupid!
Horrible experience had my wheels balanced and they left the lug nuts on one of my wheels loose. I found out before my wheel fell off .
