In an emergency situation, where we werent sure the car would make it back to the Cities, these folks were our knights in shining armor. They were able to look at the problem with short notice, diagnose and test it, and send us on our way with barely any time wasted. Schmitt has been my go-to mechanic since I moved to Rochester in 2018, and Ive always been treated so well here, but I will not be returning until the pandemic is over since I work with immunocompromised patients and cannot risk contracting COVID. None of the employees I saw here wore masks in the waiting/desk area. Theyre free to make that choice, but, unfortunately, Im free to make the choice to prioritize my patients lives and safety. Hopefully the pandemic ends before my next oil change!

Yes, they use paper when making reservations. I like that. I think they are the best. From replacing tires and changing oil to fixing electrical isses, theyve done excellent work on my Orange Prius C and Nissan Versa. Very trustworthy and down-to-earth. Highly recommend.

Took car in for an oil change and to evaluate a check engine light. Called and told me a cylinder wasn’t firing, and I needed new spark plugs(original on 132 mile car). Said bill would be $400.Came to get car and the bill was only $321 because they “didn’t need” a part they thought they would. Honest. Efficient. Fair. And low-key.

I dropped my car off before an appointment at Mayo. My oil change was done when I got back. Very reasonable price.Owner was friendly and helpful. They do good work. Definitely worth checking out if you are around downtown Rochester.

Schmitt Auto is like my automotive home away from home. Growing up in a small town, I appreciate the down-to-earth, honest, simple approach of Tim and his colleagues. They did a tune-up on my car, and replaced the brakes at (honestly) half the cost of other garages. When I came in with a different issue, they even let me help replace the part. Dont be distracted by the odd-mannequin or old-time feel. This place does quality work!

Everyone there is super friendly had my oil change done super fast too. Five stars. Adam is the best.

Ive had my tires switched and balanced with some throw a ways and some keeps. Never had any module and Ive taken them 8 tires before with 5 different combinations of the above...never get service like that anywhere else...Especially at there prices, very reasonable and location is perfect.

This place is awesome, I had to move last minute from Mayo in Rochester to Mayo in Jacksonville Florida. I called Schmitt Auto and asked if they could squeeze me in on the saturday before the move. Not only did they get me in but they gave me a fair price and the customer service was beyond exceptional. I would highly recommend this auto repair shop to anyone living in Rochester MN.

Visiting from out of town and we developed a brake line leak. I decided on Schmitt after reading reviews and talking with Tim. Very courteous! He did run into a little trouble but got everything taken care of! Price was very reasonable! Makes me think I should drive my vehicles all the way here to get maintenance done!!

Schmitts Auto took good care of me and the car. There were some hiccups with some car failures and other problems after they fixed it up the first time. I had to limp the car back to the shop with an overheating engine. Other than that, Tim, the owner is very nice and honest with what they do. But if I were to recommend this shop to someone I would think twice.

Tim gave me a very fair rate of service and was honest about what my cars needs were and what they would cost before making any decisions. He offered me the information in paper form in case I wanted to further investigate on my own.

Prompt friendly service and can provide helpful advice, however, questionable as they tried to tell me my belt tensioner needed replacing in order to remove the serpentine belt, which is an expensive fix. I got the belt off and a new one on with the help of a little leverage, everything running great now for some time.

I’m a weekend warrior mechanic and I see almost everyone get ripped off by mechanics in rochester. This is the only place I trust with my vehicle. If your not sure if your getting ripped off by your mechanic..... you are. It angers me to see friends on a fixed income get taken for so much and sometimes they fix the wrong thing so you bring your car back and they’ll do it again. A good mechanic is usually booked so you might have to wait but it’s worth it. I will never bring my vehicles anywhere else. Also in reading other reviews I see someone wrote, “they moved something and broke it”. I have to say sometimes when you Get your car out something else brakes and it’s not the mechanics fault although it can feel like it.
