Very cranky old man who owns this place at Towers.I called before hand, he was curt and seemed like he wanted to hang up. He stayed on the line though answering all my questions. He ended the call with “thanks for calling” which was nice. When I showed up, he was somewhat nice.Just a few minutes after being in the shop however, he started treating me like a bother and getting crabby. He asked me if I was just going to stand around looking and said “I bet you don’t know jack about the stuff you’re looking at”I told him a joke about crabby old men, he seemed to like the joke. I think this guy is in a lot of pain, so I treated him compassionately. I purchased some cards, he thanked me for the purchase but then rudely said “I can’t wait for you to get out of here”.
RUDE! Not everyone is an expert in coin collecting. I know you, shop attendant, dont know how to do my job. The difference between me and you is that I would not take advantage of someones lack of knowledge. I educate and take pride to share my knowledge. What goes around comes around.
Ive dealt with Roanoke coin exchange numerous times and I have intention of ever going back. The man who is always there is rude and tries to get over on people who come to sell or just inquire about their own collection. My friend has a rare 3 legged Buffalo nickle thats worth a substantial amount and the man tried to low ball him!! Would definitely not recommend
I haven’t been here, but judging from the reviews of the owner, I never will. I have thousands of coins and bills I’m looking to sell, and this place was my first choice based solely on the location. After reading the reviews however, I’m more than happy to drive an extra 10 miles to a coin dealer. Thanks y’all!!
If we could give a negative review we would. The rudest, most arrogant person I’ve ever come into contact with. Towers shouldn’t even rep this business. Save yourself and go elsewhere!
Very professional set up! extremely knowledgeable with coins! Straight shooter no BS! If you know what your looking for he most likely has it!
Absolutely UNhelpful, rude, and basically a jerk. I’ll take my business anywhere else.
Im giving the REVIEWS 5 Stars ... not the business!THANKS EVERYONE for your true comments about the owner and how he does business and treats people! Im surprised he hasnt been shut down!!!!Thanks to YOU ALL! I WILL NOT be going to him and I will not suffer the stress of it all!Shocking reviews!!! Sure am glad I checked!
Great selection. The owner IS a bit salty, but if YOU were inundated for years by every crack head, guy who thinks his old coins are worth hundreds, and people who go in to sell and ask Ebay prices, you would be grumpy too. You cannot imagine the depravity this man has witnessed, and he continues to operate. If an uneducated potato walks in that he can profit off of, so be it. Its how every business operates. At least hes transparent. People want pawn shops, and coin shops to act like Walmart, and thats just not happening. If you are that easily triggered, find another hobby. You will definitively run into these type of people in this industry. Its called the industry.
Awful man that works there! Ill go elsewhere hopefully people dont ever go here!!!
Very bad experience and hateful attitude now I see why I should have went with the reviews and just not went
ZERO STARS:Just walked in and was told a Kobe Bryant 1996 Upper Deck Collectors Edition and a Magic Johnson 1989 Skybox have ZERO VALUE yet he has an Antoine Walker card selling for a dollar,AWFUL
The moron who owns this shop, Reginald, or Reggie for short, was actually nice at first. Which is surprising me after reading these other reviews. He became rude quickly after being a little nice, however.I brought him a silver coin my grandfather gave me and he made a comment saying your grandfather gave you junk he also said he wouldnt give 2 pennies for my piece. Before we even started talking, myself and this Reggie moron, i over heard the girls in his shop talking. They were all girls besides him. One of the girls said something along the lines of Reggie asked me to take him on a date or something like that. That tells me something. Anyway, If I were you.. and you have a nice piece you think might be worth money... dont go to this clown.
Very bad man very rude to EVERYONE. I can not believe towers lets him keep his lease after all the complaints he gets. If you have a problem with him contact Towers property management company and tell them he is making the shopping center look bad. High prices rude pays or offers 10% of value on coins and such. What a character.
110% rip off artist. Preys on people that dont know about coins. He got caught by me. I know alot and tricked him . What a fool.
I have done a fair amount of business with this man before in the past. But here recently he has low-balled me several times which I in turn sold the coins else where and got what they were actually worth. I even did a little experiment one time and bought a couple of his over priced coins and then two days later went and sold them back to him just to see what he would give me. And sure enough it was a very low low offer. With all of the complaints as well as the public opinion of him and his shop I don’t understand why the management of towers lets him stay there but I guess they don’t care either.
I almost jumped on this clown. He told me he doubted I even graduated high school and called me uneducated because I gave him a low price that he didnt like.... this weirdo better watch how he insults and talks down to people... not everyone is as nice as me. I wouldnt recommend Roanoke coin exchange to nobody. How does he stay in business doubting peoples statuses and telling people theyre uneducated? Srsly. This guy is the weirdest person Ive ever met!
All the reviews saying this man is rude and condescending are true. I asked to see an item and he basically told me i couldnt afford it so he wasnt going to show it to me. It was a 50 dollar item he was asking 150 for. He has alot of great inventory but Ill never be back.
The old man that owns the place was extremely rude and condescending with every word that came out of his mouth. He quoted a price 1/4 of what we got elsewhere, an absolutely offensive price.Do NOT waste your time unless youre in the mood to go off on some cranky old man, walk away with 100% of your collection, and something to complain about the rest of the day.
Ive been there three days in a row when he claims to be open, with no luck. This is no easy feat with 2 small children. Too bad for him he has lost our business.
I have been collecting coins since 1962. This is absolutely the rudest man and coin dealer I have in countered.
I only gave a 1 star because I had to rate something. This guys is extremely rude. I was asking basic questions since I havent collected cards for over 20 yrs now and was looking to get back into it.... but this a$$ hole was acting like he didnt want me in his shop. No wonder its always empty in there!!!!
He makes you wanna smack the glasses off his face.... Prices are rediculous and his offera are even worse.
Unlike many others on here, I have done business with this man quite a few times. My opinion of him has changed so much its been like a rollercoaster ride. First impression was that he was just a mean and bitter old man. He is not a people person whatsoever and I honestly believe he does most to all of his business on EBAY. The only reason that shop stays open is because he hopes some idiot walks in one day with a treasure that he will pay little to nothing for, in fact it probably happens more often than not. Ive bought his junk coins he keeps in the back for the purpose of keeping my silver stack where I want it but other than that I havent bought much else. Recently he has low balled me on several silver mint sets and silver dollars. He offered me 25 bucks on two silver proof sets and two Morgan dollars. Anyone who knows coins already can see how laughable that is. If you are looking to sell, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. If you wanna buy junk silver to stack, prices are fair enough.
If it wasnt for the person who owns this store the collection would be a 4-5 stars. But the guy who runs this business is very rude and the customer service is the worst Ive ever seen in a store of this sort. Its also very cluttered.
This guy reggie luck is rude. I had a coin worth over $100 he knew it was worth a little and offered $50. I told him I wanted at least $120 he rudely and loudly said IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, YOU CAN GET THE HELL OUT OF MY SHOP.who talks to their customers that way? I went to another area coin seller where I got $100 for my coin. Not what I was asking but $50 better than this guy anyway. Dont go here.
This guy is attempting to act savvy and cool, like a high roller, but he’s just a moron who’s hoping that YOU’RE a moron he can fleece. Pretty hilarious.
Called and asked about prices and guy was arrogant and rude, they dont give prices lol plenty of other shops in the area,do yourself a favor and visit them instead
This guy was extremely rude and condescending! I would never recommend anyone visiting this business.
Wow. Last review was right on! Called the guy about selling rounds. Rude. When I got to the shop, it was closed for lunch. He knew I was coming. Anywhere but here! Im speechless to say more
Worst business encounter ever lol what a joke, dont waste your time
The ogre troglodyte that own this place should be kicked out of towers for being so horrible to customers - very rude overpriced - rips people off imo - hey reggie why are you so rude to everyone??
Dont even bother wasting your time w/ this Joker ! If youre looking to sell or looking to buy, either way, youre gonna get screwed by Mr. Personality aka Mr. Popularity...
Sorry as place, after he heard my voice, said cant help u can bring them in, but hear him in background telling someone he not going to get it anyway!
So we came about two hours from our hometown because no one where we live really knows anything about coins. I called and got his answering machine saying he was open till six. We got there at about five till five. He was very rude . I dont believe I have ever met such a mean person in my life! He didnt want to look at out coins, nor did he want to sell any of his because he was closing at five. I ask why did his answering service say six and he just said very smartly "Well today we close at five". He refused to let us look at any coins, and tried to price a troy ounce of silver at $25 when todays price was at $40 per troy ounce. He was just rude, rude, rude.I would not recommend that the devil himself do any business with him.
Sellers attitude was atrocious, he lacks professionalism and customer serviceTake your business elsewhere
They are very rude and racist. They call u names and everything
Rude. Rude. Rude. Go to Precious Metals and Coins instead.
He would not make me an offer on my gold, unless I paid him a $100 appraisal fee. He was very rude.
His business sucks he needs to shutdown ASAP
Shop owner was incredibly rude. Told me the price on a box of cards was $120 then walked in the back and looked at it online. When he came back he said it was $160 and that I “should’ve jumped on it when it was $120.”
Its hard to find a coin and card shop now a days
Most people dont understand that certain coins might cost more than others, they really know there stuff!
Rude
