Nice little Cafe. Being from another state, we had a little difficulty finding parking. The staff was great and the food was better really good. We hoped to have a breakfast sandwich but, they only serve them on the weekend. So we were kind of disappointed about that. But it is no fault of the restaurant. The inside is nicely decorated and some of the original stained glass is still displayed.
Oh my gosh the GOODNESS of every treat Ive tried from Whisk! Im fortunate to get to try many yummy creations being a wedding photographer and I am SO lucky! I love the beauty their treats provide in a photo but my favorite part is getting to eat them haha! I make sure I dont wait to long after the cake is cut to grab a slice because if I do it would be all gone! I love when couples add fun treats or ideas to make their deserts unique and Whisk brings those to life! Seriously stunning and delicious!
A perfectly wonderful experience. Staff was friendly and patient with us ordering. The coffee was as excepted and standard. The pastries are absolutely delicious and incredible. The peach Croissant was sweet and flakey. The Macarons nice and chewy. The Eclair perfectly wonderful. Overall an amazing great experience.
We love, love, love Whisk! Their macaroons are to die for and their caramel blondies are simply out of this world! Great little place to sit, have a coffee and take 5 minutes, or to take home a box full of sweet goodies to enjoy!
This place is a go to in the bottom. The baked goods/food are the highlight here, and the coffee is good enough. They have a seasonal strawberry milkshake cold foam that is crazy good. Would love to see that hit the menu permanently with other flavors! Digital punch cards would be great too. Super friendly staff!
Delicious baked goods, its a good thing they are within walking distance!!
Is there food amazing? Absolutely. Beat croissants Ive ever had.Do they only serve breakfast sandwiches on the weekends? And then sell out by 10:30am? Yes.Why dont you just make more? Why do you sell breakfast sandwiches for approx 4 hours a WEEK?Terrible business, amazing food.
I had our wedding cake made by whisk. It was beautiful and delicious. We went with the carrot cake and it was so moist. All their cakes are so good and you can’t go wrong with anyone you choose. Their cakes are minimal and ‘naked’ without icing on the sides which is exactly what I wanted. Morgan was so nice to work with. We had a 4 tier cake and for that large of a cake it was very reasonable priced. They delivered and set up everything and made it such an easy experience. 10/10 would recommend!
I have been following Whisk on Instagram for months. My expectations about going here were already sky high and they did not disappoint. I tried a croissant and their honey lavender latte. Amazing! I took a macaroon to go and was very happy that I did. I will definitely be going back!
Since becoming Vegan it has been exciting to explore different recipes. One day I had a strange craving for some cookies but had never discovered any Vegan cookies or even entertained the idea of there being any. I stopped by this Street Market & Cafe and found was amazed at what I saw. There was actually a bakery that had Vegan cookies, and a variety of options. Since having these options in my life I have not went any longer than 1 week with out buying some cookies. They are not that high in sugar and only 270 calories. My favorite so far are the Double chocolate chip and cherry chocolate chip cookies. Very good!
Amazing pastries! Best croissants and French bun! Be sure to get your sandwich in a croissant too! This place is delicious!
When Im in Richmond for business, I must go here. No exceptions. The brownies and eclaires are on my Last Meal menu!
Great coffee. Great baked goods. Good sandwiches.I give it a 4 out of 5 (really a 4.5 out of 5) because of lack of variety in sandwiches. I had to create my own essentially from their existing menu, which I do commend them for allowing me to do that. With that said, it was delicious. The bread had a great flavor, had a good crust, nice soft bread on the inside, and the cold cuts were of very high quality. Its kind of a small place so seating can be tough from time to time. Ive always had great service there and its not too loud, which is great if you wanted to sit and write or read while sipping on your coffee. They have veggie and vegan options and milk alternatives like Almond milk.Dont let the 4 out of 5 stars dissuade you from going here. Its definitely above average!
Had two lattes, bacon and cheddar croissant and a chocolate almond croissant.I didnt have high expectations for the chocolate almond croissant but it was surprisingly delicious!! It had the perfect blend of sweet from the almond filling and bitter from the bitter sweet chocolate. Unique pastry and makes Whisk worth visiting. Great job.
Disappointed. We waited outside because only 3 people were allowed in at once. There were a couple people already inside. But then they left after a while so we went inside. The moment we came in, the young lady behind the counter told us that other people were waiting outside—so we immediately felt rushed. It was so rude and unexpected that we left right away with a bad taste in our mouths instead of sweet treats.
This place is always out of stock .the pastries /croissants are decent ...a bit pricey for quality and portion, and for being in Richmond. Ive had better with fair prices,. But good for Richmond standards. but its not even worth it anymore ....Its ridiculous...never seen a bakery thats out of things all day not sure whats going on and how they operate . This is an honest review from my experience
Such a good treat! They are doing online only right now, but site is super easy. The macaroons were huge so good for was ready in about 30 but we ordered a lot lol
Overall we really enjoyed our experience at Whisk. Fun little date for my son and I while picking up some macarons for my stepsons birthday. I got a blueberry muffin and a shot of espresso over ice, and he got a chocolate chip cookie. Some of the things we got were really good. The coffee was actually excellent and some of the macarons were quite delicious. The nutella macaron and the mocha macaron were the best. Macarons can easily be too sweet, and these were nicely balanced. The strawberry lemonade one was too sweet, but had a very unique and impressive lemon flavor; the buttercream had bits of candied lemon in it which gave some beautiful little bursts of flavor. The lavender macaron was honestly disgusting. Way too much lavender flavor. Lavender should be a subtle floral note in baked goods, in my opinion. This was way too overpowering. The pistachio macaron was okay. The blueberry muffin and the cookie were okay. They had complimentary iced water out in a dispenser and that was a nice touch. My son and I enjoyed sitting at the window to watch the street while we enjoyed our treats. Solid 4 star experience, a lot like that strawberry lemonade macaron. Little bursts of impressiveness but room for some improvement.
First time ordering from you guys today, and I must say you guys have the best brownies and cookies in town!!
I didnt know croissants could be this good. Their macarons are also awesome -- but I obsess over their maple sausage croissant.
Their pastries - especially their big cookies - are so delicious. Their seasonal cold brews are also amazing.
If their delicious coffee doesn’t pull you into Whisk Located on Historic Main Street in Shockoe Bottom, it might be the smell of their freshly baked pastries. It’s intoxicating. At this very moment I can smell chocolate chip cookies probably getting close to coming out of the oven. I don’t know if it’s just me, but these smells invoke the emotions that come with hiding behind the banister on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa Clause to shimmy down the chimney only to only take one bite of the cookies you slaved over in the kitchen with your drunk Aunt Rapsy while she was yelling at her son, my cousin, to be home before midnight. Oh I knew he wouldn’t be home until the bars closed, but I held out hope just as my aunt tightly griped her bottomless class of Cabernet Sauvignon. Oh the memories.
This was my first time visiting Whisk on Saturday 5/1/21....I was not disappointed. Best breakfast sandwich I have had in a long time.....A must visit
The fruity pebble cold foam cold brew was has the perfect amount of flavor we got a couple treats which were good too.
The best coffee in town. I love their lattes. I can’t wait to try out their desserts.
Always good pastries.
I’ve been here twice and love everything I’ve ordered! Great service, cozy space. My husband tried it for the first time today and after the first few bites of his croissant, egg, and cheese sandwich, he looked up and said, “This is most likely the BEST croissant I’ve had since Paris.” - Try them out!!!
Best breakfast crossisnt available in Richmond if not farther. Buttery crossisnt followed by a nicely scrambled cheese im your bite. They are made fresh so expect to wait a few min. Blueberry muffins are also a top item when I visit. Be warned you can only get those breakfast crossisnt sandwiches on weekends and they only have a limited batch!
I like the food though they can be better with their morning greetings
Not sure if this is there norm… but the butter croissant was literally dripping butter with every bite and that is not how a croissant should be.
Wow great job Whisk, you did it.
My favorite bakery in Richmond! I visit every year on my birthday and get a macaron and a coffee. Super tasty and definitely worth visiting.
Ordered a coffee, croissant, and french bun online - all were great! Snagged them while biking through the neighborhood on a Sunday. Easy stop off of the Capital Trail, highly recommend!
Online order was easy and ready for pick-up in less than 15 minutes. We got the half-dozen macarons and the oatmeal cookie. Both were huge and delicious! Get the variety of the macarons to get all of the flavors.
Great little place, good coffee and macaroons as big as your hand.
Some of the best coffee in Richmond and their chocolate croissant is to die for
Best macaroons in Richmond!! Bought macaroons for Valentine’s Day from here. Both me and the wife loved them. The strawberry banana and rose water cardamom were phenomenal. Gave it 4 stars coz I haven’t tried anything else at this bakery. I plan on going back and trying other things they have to offer before I revise my rating.
I got a Richmonder sandwich with a chocolate caramel macaron and an iced coffee. The sandwich was alright, I wish it had more sustenance and flavor. The macaron was pretty good but I couldn’t taste the caramel at all. And the iced coffee was OK, also wish it had more caramel. Would go again specifically for pastries and sweets, maybe not the sandwiches.
The coffee here is divine. Deep flavor body with none of the heavy acidity. I tried the Black Dog drip coffee from Blanchards, a double shot of espresso from El Obraje, and a cold brew from Lamp Lighters. Clean environment and extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. The only thing keeping this from a perfect score is the lack of parking. I had to circle the area trying to find one.
Lovely pastry.
Whisk is an adorable little spot! Everything is delicious and the people who work there have always been very kind. Definitely recommend their campfire cookies! 😍
Despite the COVID restrictions the employees still seemed warm and welcoming, jovial to discuss the options available to you. The mocha macaron was fantastic, and the oatmeal cookie was a welcome surprise. Will definitely visit again!
What a great little bakery. The first thing youll notice when you go on is the wonderful buttery, baked smell. From there, youll see a nice display of croissants, sweets, and more. Ive been here three times as of the time of writing and everything from the croissants to the brownies are fantastic. I dont think you can go wrong. The coffee is superb too, if a little dark/earthy but, for me, thats a good thing. Check this place out but get there early, the seating is limited and its popular.
Great macaroons and place to sit on Main! After a couple of years of dropping in for coffee, I ordered a cake for my moms 60th. It was delicious!!! My only issue is with the presentation. The cake did not have the same look it does online. The partially frosted look just looked sloppy instead of interesting as it did advertised. The piping on top was done in dark green....why not just use dark chocolate? The piping also looked somewhat sloppy. The concerns stopped at the cosmetic, it really was delicious.
Limit capacity of 3 people inside, no seatings inside. Bakery.
Got the chocolate chip cake for my sons birthday. It was the best cake my wife and I have ever had. Better than our wedding cake! Looking foward to trying to the grasshopper cake soon!
They have macarons which are huge and I want to try their macaron subscription program. A nice local spot to get coffeeEdit. You cant go in so I tried to order merchandise online. Apparently there is some issue as I waited at the door for 5 minutes..then a discussion that I ordered incorrectly. Not worth stopping until they let customers inside because online ordering isnt easy
Amazing! My sister and I are visiting from out and town and stopped her for a coffee and pastry. Everything was delicious. I got the spinach and feta croissant and my sister got the chocolate chip almond bread pudding, which is to die for. We are so glad we stopped here.
Came here in search of macarons. Although they were stunning and big, I felt like they lack substance. I got 2 different flavors and the flavor difference was incredibly subtle. The filling mainly tasted of just sugar and the overall experience left more to be desired. However, the croissant was delicious, buttery, and flaky. I’m willing to give Whisk another chance, maybe I just ate a bad batch.
Over priced bakery, even more expensive than DC or NYC, with meehh.., so so croissant not even close to theirs. Don’t justify it’s price. Why’s that such a cute looking chou tastes so bad. High priced for such an average bakery. Maybe good for RVA standard but not great if you compare out of state. Disappointed and not coming back.
I really loved this place. really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, ill be back. they have so many good reviews for a reason.
I love the fresh baked goods!! And the crew working here always goes above and beyond! Thank you all
My drink here was great (iced almond milk latte) but I got the only vegan option (which was a baguette with hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce) and my lettuce still had dirt on it. Which I love knowing that its local or extra fresh (atleast thats what Im hoping) but definitely was a little annoying when I got home and had to clean it myself because I was not going to waste perfectly good bread for some dirty lettuce. Bonus was that it forced me to add things to the sandwich (because I was already taking it apart to clean the lettuce) so I could jazz it up a bit.But the sandwich was definitely underwhelming and the dirty lettuce definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. If I do stop by again, itll be for the drinks alone.
Good breakfast sandwich and croissants. Iced coffee was good as well.
Ill be dreaming about these macarons for a while. My husband and I were in search of a nearby bakery while wandering around downtown Richmond for the weekend. I read some reviews about their amazing macarons and decided to try them out. Boy am I glad we decided to stop by. Their variety for the day included Ginger Matcha and Cardamom Coffee, which were perfectly decadent. My 11-month-old loved them and the equally delicious prociutto, fig, and goat cheese croissant. We bought a half dozen more macarons so we could continue to enjoy them here in NC. Cant wait until were back in the area so we can try their other combinations!
I got three macarons and a confetti cookie. The confetti cookie is delicious. The macarons have WAY too much food coloring (pistachio was Kelly green and dyed my entire mouth that color) and not enough flavor. The almond was bright purple for some reason and the Earl grey just tasted bland. Macarons are a delicate cookie and they somehow managed to make it too much (coloring) and not enough (flavor) at the same time. The cookie shell of the macarons were pretty good, lightly crispy on the outside and kind of chewy on the inside.
Been there almost everyday for a year and cant say a single bad thing about them. Would be a great place to sit and eat if it werent for corona
Whisk is absolutely my favorite. The bakers are so talented and all of their treats are phenomenal! The space is adorable and welcoming as well. I would give this place 1,000 stars if I could. Can not recommend the macarons enough!
Best pastries in town!
I ordered from them for a socially distanced meeting and they were clean, efficient, and friendly. I went through some trouble on the website but the woman working was so kind and helpful.
Amazing pastries, coffee, customer service, and covid protocols. The macaron subscription is an amazing deal.
Friendly services and great food
So delicious. Friendly service, even being that person racing in just before closing.
Online ordering was very easy and fast! Love being able to pick up freezer to oven breakfast :)
Standing in the bakery and asked to step out, order online and return for pickup . . . NOT. Two customers lost.
I was a first time visitor a few days ago and enjoyed my experience! There was a nice selection of pastries, baked goods, and desserts like macaroons (They had pistachio rosewater, matcha, and orange dreamsicle!) The oatmeal cream pies are packed with flavor and taste great. The Smores cookie was my favorite. They have a treat called a Whisker that is there take on a homemade Oreo! From their menu it looked like they also make cakes too and all the flavors looked appetizing. I will be returning to this place. There is some seating inside as well as some outdoor seating. They have punch out cards too so if you get enough goodies, youll get a free one once your card is full.
Best pastries in town-- if you get there early, grab a breakfast sandwich!
I freaking love Whisk. The staff is super nice and does a great job of keeping things going smoothly. The campfire cookies are my absolute favorite!
I love to bake and used to have my own cupcake business. Needless to say I am very picky when it comes to cakes and baked goods. I always go to Whisk for my birthday cake every year because it is so beautiful and delicious and all their flavors are festive and appealing (I try a different one each year). Thanks for never disappointing!
