First off some of the best deals and aweosme customer service! The workers here are amazing helpful and also they are always looking to give the best deal! If you find yourself here you are definitely in the right location, and I shop at ALOT of gaming stores! Thank you again Game-Xplosion for the awesome products and good deals!
Great first time experience! Definitely recommend to anyone into games and definitely coming back ! Yasmine is the girl to talk to 🙂
The store has a lot of cool stuff but the long haired worker there made me and my son feel very uncomfortable. He followed us around the store and kept asking if there was anything specific we wanted to buy otherwise he was too busy for us to just browse. Apparently his definition of busy was staring at his laptop which is all he was doing the short time we were there. He said Saturday was the day for browsing so in so many words he wanted us to leave. Maybe they should state that on their hours they have posted outside which would prevent other people from feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Even my 9 year old son could sense he didnt want us there. This was our second time there and actually purchased a Lego set the first time but we wont be returning and will just go to the D-Pad which has a much more welcoming staff. Its a wonder this place stays open since it is always dead and based off the other reviews, this guy makes customers feel uneasy. In fact the first time we were there, I wanted to purchase an old school Nintendo stuffed animal for my girlfriend and I wanted to send her a pic to confirm she didnt have it. He rudely put his hand in front of my phone and said, no pictures. I said, I just wanted to see if my girlfriend has that already and he said you dont think she would want it?. I said, I dont know if she has it already so how would I know if she wants it or not? Despite that horrible interaction, we stilled purchased the Lego set. It sounds like his name is Nick and if he is the owner, he should probably improve his client relations skills or get into another industry.
Stopped in today and was greeted with awesome nostalgia! They have both vintage and current Pokémon cards, as well as retro video games, vinyl records, and Funko products. The staff were nice and he took time to show me the vintage Pokémon cards he had just gotten in. I left with several cards that will forever be in my collection. The store is well organized and extremely fun to peruse. Will definitely be back!
Nobody liked the dude with the long hair lol. i went in a couple months ago and asked dude with the long hair you got any specials on comics. He said their %50 off. i start digging for hours and bring up a stack on the register. Saw the total and was like, i thought they were all half off. He said no, i can only do a couple lol. of course the higher priced ones werent %50.
Cashier made our group feel very uncomfortable when wanting to browse. We left the store quickly because we felt unwelcome. Dpad retro gaming & collectibles down the road was amazing though. Go there for your games and collectibles instead!
What a great variety of product. All sorts of killer stuff at killer prices. Games of all sorts and music equipment to boot! I found some really awesome and obscure stuff specific to my liking. Ive been a long time collector of modern D&D stuff and I have never seen these early D&D Miniatures in-box in-person. I was totally flabbergasted.Highly recommended. Awesome location, staff, and all around retail Xperience.
Been searching far & high for the Power Pack Box for the Pokémon cards, and found the one and only box they had! So excited to see what’s inside! Great Customer Service
This place is the best!!!! All the old heads must go here!!
This place is awesome!!! They have comics on sale... nick was a big help on helping me choose the comics I wanted and bringing out the comics he said I would like and I did like the comics he chose for me thank you!!!!!!
Much like many of the other reviews, I found the owner of this store to be surly, unfriendly, and probably high. He was also not wearing a mask (no chin diaper even, just straight up not bothered to wear a mask). Do yourself a huge favor and skip this hole, go around the corner to D-Pad instead.
The employee working at the front counter, Nick is extremely rude and disrespectful and had a snobby attitude. He acted as if I was disturbing him just to ask a simple question. As if I was interrupting his life. Would not return. Would not recommend.
Helpful staff but not too pushy. Engaging when they need to be. Great selection finely organized and easy to browse. Plenty of great deals!
Despite the reviews I went in and was greeted by a man with long hair who seemed pretty alright. The place looked a lot more cleaner too than the last time I was there nearly a year prior. After browsing for a bit I found a Virtual Boy behind the counter. He wanted $250 for it but was willing to go as low as $200. It seemed fair at first but now Im thinking I should have paid less for it. A quick test at the store proved it worked, but it was another story once I got it home. Turns out after being on for a short while the right lens started glitching out. Its a common issue with the system but now I have to pay extra for repairs. And this was something he was undoubtedly aware of seeing as he said he played it a lot before I purchased it. This is what pisses me off about this place, being they are willing to rip off their customers and then refuse to offer refunds.TLDR: Dont buy anything from here unless youre willing to risk having a broken product or shell out extra to repair it.EDIT: In response to the owners reply, there never was a 7 day guarantee made known to me. I had been there a few times before and the service wasnt bad except on my first visit where I was watched and followed around a year before as if I was going to steal something but I was told all sales were final on more than one occasion in those past visits. This is why I didnt bother calling or returning to complain. I was able to return one item before, once. But only with a lot of grumbling about how its against store policy. Also an exchange really doesnt help in a case like this seeing as its considered rare and hard to find. Id still be out the $200 some bucks I paid for it but this time without a product that I actually wanted.
Nick was awesome. Great store full of lots of gaming.
Great deals trading in its the best deals in Renton if your looking for games
Dude with long hair was extremely rude. Kept following us around asking if we were even here to buy anything. Wont be coming back any time soon might as well go to Dpad Retro across the street.
Cool shop Great service a lot of cool stuff
Dude with the long hair is pretty rude. Didn’t welcome us when we walked in but proceeded to follow us around the store. Then he says, “you’ve pretty much seen it all. Is there anything I can grab for you?” We left without saying a word after. Won’t be coming back to this place. Thought they might be cool since they’re next door to 8bit Arcade.
Place looks good but the hours are inconsistent
We love this store. The person that was working there was very nice to my son. He took the time to explain their products, and all of the Pokemon things that they had at the store. They had bunch of used video games, Pokemon cards, Pokemon stuff animals, and more. They are always nice to the kids around Halloween and giving them candies with a smile and a welcoming attitude.
Amazing store, but Ill never set foot in there again. My family visited last night to browse, record prices, and get some last second Christmas ideas. There were games there that I havent been able to find elsewhere, and they also sell some truly amazing fan art. Even though everything was a bit overpriced I would have been willing to pay for the hard to find and unique items, but the clerk made the visit so terrible we had to leave. At first he was just a little weird/awkward, obviously stoned, and kept mumbling things to us from across the room. I have no idea what he was trying to say to us most of the time and I tried to keep things casual and friendly. After only a few minutes he then seemed like he was getting very impatient for us to choose something and very clearly was desperate to make a sale. That was uncomfortable enough but it got worse as the guy kept singling out my wife and approaching her each time my son and I strayed too far from her. He was getting so forceful, especially with her, that she asked me to stay close for the rest of our visit and to keep the remainder short. We decided to quickly price some memory cards then head out. He showed us a few he kept behind the counter and when we said we werent going to buy them yet he abruptly started slamming them into a stack and threw them to the counter behind him. We rushed our kid out of the store before the guy got any more violent then that. We will never return.
Barbara helped me tonight and was extremely friendly. She was willing to meet me in the middle on pricing when one of the items I had selected was priced a bit high (the items I were looking at change in price often, so it wasnt a surprise that the price was a bit out of date). Overall, the shop is cluttered, but I found it charming and sort of like treasure hunting. Ill be back again and check out the Renton location. I like supporting local.
Went in on a weekend afternoon with the husband to take a look around the retro games. There was a young girl at the counter. We went to the back to look at the games on the back wall, which are wrapped in plastic and hanging with plastic ties on a wire on the wall. Some of the games are obstructed from by the other games, unless you lift them up. I was looking at one of the obstructed games when the girl at the counter said in a snarky voice if youre interested in one of those games please dont just rip them off, just ask me and Ill come take them down for you. My husband and I agreed that we wouldnt and continued looking at the games, thinking that would be the end of it, but she continued it takes a long time to hang those up, I should know, Im the one who did it. and then a minute later, almost under her breath, dont be that guy. We got the picture the first time.My husband was interested in a controller and asked her how much they were. Um, about 20 bucks. We continued looking, he found a game he wanted and there was a controller right next to it in pretty good condition, so he grabbed it. By then we were done, so we went up to the counter to check out. As the girl was ringing us up, she rudely said in a similar snarky voice as before, could you not go behind the counter to get a controller, instead just ask me to get it for you. My husband said Im sorry, did I go behind a counter? She points to the back of the store, to an area we had not gone into Im guessing you went back there behind the counter, and grabbed this from the box of controllers back there. I pointed to where we had gotten the controller from and told her we had gotten it there, in a customer area. Oh, well never mind then. She didnt apologize for her rudeness, she simply told my husband as he was signing the receipt that her coworker must have left it out.The store is crowded with stuff and not well organized. The prices are high. This is the second bad experience my husband has had (I hadnt been in before and wanted to see what they had). So, we will not be returning. Hopefully others have better experiences.
Got to love a retro game store and this one doesnt disappoint. The selection was great and nick more than helped with recommendations. Ill definitely be coming back
Just called and got upset that I even called them. Told me she’d call me back later and hung up. Absolute worst customer service, makes comcast look like saints.
My daughter and I came in earlier today and a man was covering for the owner. Although he didnt know exactly if they had what we were looking for or not, he took the time to help us find it and I was able to make my daughters day! The comic shop down the street closed down and we thought we would stop in just in case they had comics ..and low and behold they bought all the comics from the closed shop. So my daughter was able to score the Dr. Strange and Ironman comics she was after. They also had an awesome retro game collection! We will definitely be back. This place rocks!!!
This place is awesome! Great prices and deals for the retro gamer or the modern gamer! I would definitely recommend this place! 5 stars!
I went into Game Xplosion a looking for an n64 console as well as some games. Nick helped me pick out exactly what I needed and offered me a deal I couldnt refuse. He provided great service and the whole process took less than 10 minutes. I recommend going here if you are interested in retro gaming consoles, old comic books and even old school vinyl records or even just to browse around and see what this place has in store.
If your looking for rare games this is the place to come.
Overcharged and unfriendly
Nick and Barbara are awesome! Worked with me on my trade and I left extremely happy. Awesome selection.
This place is fun filled it has all forms of games and consoles. The cashiers are extremely helpful and if you find a lower price than what they have they will negotiate. overall a very great store.
I would not recommend this place. Especially if you just want to roam around and check things out to get an idea of what the store has to offer. The salesman was pushy and very rude. I never post reviews--even if I have a bad experience, but this was an absolute horrible experience. If you are looking to purchase a game that you plan to play a lot then I would look elsewhere as the prices are on the expensive side. The store does offer some very neat things for anyone who is into all sorts of games, but the customer service is not worth it.
The gentleman Nick at front desk was so helpful with my friend and I finding the old school games we were looking for! We found the ones we were wanting! Prices cannot be beat! Thanks!
Game Xplosion has an amazing selection of POPs. They had items I’ve been looking for and haven’t been able to find. The customer service provides by Nick was phenomenal. He wasn’t pushy but also involved enough at the same time. I will be back and have already messaged friends about this location. Very nice spot to check out.
Like many people have stated, something is pretty off with the guy who is often working behind the counter. He got visibly upset when I just wanted to see what their merchandise was before committing to buying anything. He told me he wasnt the owner and his name was Nick. Made me and my kiddo feel very awkward and as much as I like supporting local places Ill never go back.
Great store! Good selection of games, and customer service was super chill. Definitely check out if youre in the area.
I was planning on some retro game hunting & came upon this store. Had to hit it up since it was nearby where I was staying. Decent selection of old games. Was able to grab a few. For their CD based games, that were behind the display case, they were less organized. Would have like to have seen price stickers on the side too. The cashier looked like he was out of it or high on something for lack of a better word. Cant judge a book by its cover, but thought it was funny.
Nick was very helpful in making suggestions for my games that my son would like. Prices were great too! We will be back.
Came into browse on a Sunday and had a wonderful experience. Looked up a game Id been looking for and got a working N64 to replace my broken one. Great for music, art, used games and more!
I went here today and the guy working behind the counter was very rude and couldn’t kindly answer the simple question I asked. I won’t be coming back. There’s a better/friendlier retro game store right around the corner called dpad retro gaming. Go there instead.
Good deals on games trade ins. Been using this place for a couple years now and the store is better than ever!
Came into with my daughter who is 8 months. She got a little fussy and the gentleman working started playing the guitar while I was looking through postcards, and she calmed down instantly! I ended up picking out several post cards and will probably be back for some guitar lessons too!
I love this place! Everything I need I come to this spot! The dude in there is cool as hell as well always showing love! By the way this place is Gold!
I would love to drop hundred or even thousands of dollars here because Im a collector and they do have some great stuff. Unfortunately however the first time I went in the person at the counter who I think is the owner talked on the phone the entire time and paid no attention to me at all. The second time that I went in the same person plus another that work there talk to each other the entire time and again didnt even acknowledge my existence. Today which was the third time Ive tried to give them money I called to ask if they had a particular game in stock, The lady simply said they might but she doesnt have time to look. I went ahead and hung up which she called me a few minutes later and confirm they didnt have it in stock but I Morally cant give this company any money after the poor customer service they provide. Theres about five other competitors within a 10 mile radius if not more I think Ill just stick with those.
This was my first time going to this game store. They sold way more then just games and game systems. They sold records, CDs, pop figures and more. The store clerk was helpful and down to earth. I’m not usually a reviewer or commenter but I strongly disagreed with the 1 star reviews that fill this page .
Gave me a great deal. When i visited the store. Great customer service. Will recomend to all my friends.
Has the vibe of a old pawn shop, prices are way above reason, workers pressure you to make a purchase, save some time and go around the block to D-pad retro gaming, theyre much nicer and reasonable over there
Awesome guy in front! My kids were looking for a wii. He hooked us up with deals so my kids were able to put there money together and get them a great deal on a wii plus controllers.
Fun retro game store with large selection of video games, posters and unique collectible items, got an awesome handmade 2D Mario and Yoshi framed art piece for my son. Nick was very helpful and provided great customer service, we will be back - thank you NIck!
The guy working there is so amazing! Go check it out! Great deals.
Nic was incredibly knowledgeable and found us some great stuff. This store is really a hidden gem in Renton and a great place for a unique gift. Stop in today you won’t be disappointed.
I went to this shop thinking it was going to be one of those cool retro game stores. I found a copy of Spyro in the bargain bin for $3 and was told it was scratched up so it might not work. The guy at the counter then puts it into a PS1 and since it was working, he said it is $25 now if I want to buy it. I walked out the store after that and will never return. He was very pushy to purchase the game and completely inflated the price in that moment. First you say its $3 and then mark it up to $25 knowing it is working. Save your money, find another decent shop or buy them online. At least you wont get ripped off.
This was a great Store, great selection, great service, got me what I needed and was super friendly. Definitely coming back 😊👍
Great game selection for old school or used games. Really chill atmosphere. Check it out.
AMAZING service and selection. Definitely a place to stop and browse or find just the thing you’re looking for!
Very helpful cool spot with a lot with a lot of culture!! Great way to make your house more you.
Gave way better deals than GameStop was double for my games that GameStop was going to give me. Plus lots of other cool stuff for sale. Definitely my favorite game store
Great experience, tested all of our items in store and had rock band items somehow and helped us get it same day!
My son was dying for a backpack he seen in the window i came will little bit of nothing . We settled for a little toy and came back weeks laters with my mom the employeee was able to still hook us up with my sons favorite character backpack . Greatly appreciate the kind gesture . Will definitely come back again for all the old school games and comics
I was the only person browsing in there. The employee seemed nice enough, but kind of pushy trying to make a sale like he doesnt get many. It is a vintage video game store though. I prefer shopping locally before looking online. His selection was pretty limited compared to Game Lobster where I usually shop. He didnt have what I was looking for. Then he was using body language to block me from anywhere but the exit trying to get me out of the place 20 minutes before closing when I told him I am not interested in the headphones he was trying to sell me instead. Kind of an awkward situation.Edit in response to the owner: My review is from my first and final visit several weeks ago to Game X-plosion in Renton, Washington. The long haired grunge guy tried selling me a pair of Turtle Beach headphones for the Xbox 360. If you dont sell headsets now, you did when I was there.
A fun and friendly store. Great for video games and we bought Magic cards.
The man with long hair is very rude; at one point he stopped responding to us. Weird.
Every one of the 1 star reviews here, are a 100% accurate representation of this store. I had some time to kill and was near the store so I stopped in. Just about everything in this store is well over priced. The place is very unorganized and has a funky smell. A lot of the games they have are very beat up and have no cases or instructions and they are still asking mint condition prices. The one guy I met in the store was very rude. Kept asking me off the wall questions about making selection. When I did ask him a question about a game that I noticed that was priced very high. Before I could even finish my question he told me the price that was printed on the game and before I could even restate my question, as I was not trying to be rude, he repeated him self. I nicley said I was just making a generly inquiry about the game and wanted to know if it was really worth that price and to witch he replied and I told you the price. I told him to have a nice day and left. First time in the store and my visit lasted all of about 5 min. Ill never be back. Sad part is I would have most likely paid the high price as it was a game Ive been looking for, for a while now. I am very surprised that with as much negative things Ive read online and witnessed in person that this store is even still open. Also if someone from the store reads this. You should really think about how you treat people with disposable income that have the money to buy retro game.
Awesome customer service and great deals on games. Ill definitely be back 🙂
Best selection of games and nick is very helpful! He is very knowledgeable and very kind
Nick was great in helping my husband find exactly what he wanted! We will definitely be coming back!
Brought them a bunch of GameCube games and got a way better value than anywhere else in town. Lots of cool stuff too.
Excellent service, willing to work with you if things dont quite work out.
Terrible place I bought a game and game didnt work. Wanted a refund and could not get it. So I got a defective game. Go to the other game store across the street. Better customer service and store is well organized and not cluttered.
This place has a ton of truly classic stuff! Great record selection!
Great deals & friendly staff, very informative about their toys as well as great selection of games!!!
Not only are the games priced unusually high, but they are selling fan art purchased from cons for profit. Buy art directly from the artists. If you want retro games, there is literally a shop around the corner from it that sells retro games for way better prices.
Ive been coming for a few years now. This place gave me a great deal on quite a few things I hadnt found anywhere else. They have records, plushies, and games lots of them! Now they have Pokemon and Magic cards. The best thing is since its a retro/new goods place is the next time I go in Im bound to find something Ive been looking for! Its like a diamond in the rough. #Ilovegame-xplosion
Their merchandise is awesome, but their customer service is extremely lacking. I cant just go in and browse because any of the 3 employees Ive had the displeasure of dealing with will follow me, try to push stuff on me, act annoyed if I say something wrong, etc. Its just an all around bad time.
I like it has all the old and New games and comic.
Nick was very helpful and is a great dude. Come shop if you have things to sell or buy collectibles!
Fun little place with good music, game selections, memorabilia with good prices to boot. Didnt know such an awesome place was this close to home.Skip GameStop, head here!
Great variety of games; store staff was helpful in finding the game I was looking for.
Guy at the counter was very helpful and offered to make a deal. Picked up some rare games and I will definitely be returning.
Great store, wonderful customer services, overall great experience! Would shop again. 👍🏼
Great shop, good selection. Very fair trades. A++
Excellent deals & selection of POP figurines, I always find what I need, the owner is always reasonable with prices.....
Overly pushy staff and all their fanart theyre selling is without the artists knowledge or permission. I saw a lot of pieces by friends in there who had no say in their work being resold and these guys are marking it to be two and three times the original costs. :/Edit: Hey, so found out from friends that these people are selling art of mine that theyre scalping for 4 times the price that I normally sell it. This absolutely sucks. You should be working with artists through agreements, contracts, consignments, and ask up front about wholesale, not this.
Pretty alright store for used games, guitars and music lessons. They also have board games ruleset books for the popular Pen and Paper titles(DnD, Warhammer). The guy who runs the place is always willing to haggle(hes very good at it) and is VERY mellow in presence, so none of that garbage Gamestop corporate policy attitude. They classic/Retro and current offerings as far game offerings go. They have merch and Tchotchkes as well.
Best place to shop for all games Nintendo, playstation and Xbox. Great deals also ask for matching prices!
Bitter ass employees. Theyre almost never open. They never answer their phone and when they do they give a un pleasant vibe.
This place is awesome. Dont let the negative reviews impact your decision to stop in or not and actually check it out for yourself. The dude is chill and knowledgeable. He had such a great selection that he had all of the games I needed on hand and could immediately grab them for me. He gave me some epic deals too (: I got a pretty much new gamecube Mario party 7 bundle for 150$ that came with the game and two controllers, cables, system, everything was still in its plastic pretty much. I came across pokemon stadium for 25$. I needed smash 64 and he had it, he had it priced for 75$ competitively and i didnt even question the price because I KNOW how much it can be online and in other game stores, its a game thats always in demand and wanted by casual gamers and collectors alike. Did not get mad. I was a bit on edge thinking like okay I dont want to spend TOO much after my purchase of this gamecube, maybe i should hold off. He says hey, if you beat me on smash ill give you 25$ off the price. I was like hell yeah. He even let me and my boyfriend be on the same team vs him which was cool haha i needed the advantage since i hadnt played in awhile. He made the terms if i win I get 25$ off if i lose I still pay the full price. Totally. We lost but it was a lot of fun a couple customers watched too. Honestly wouldnt mind coming back to game with the guy again whenever i stop in to buy something. Haha. He threw in tetris sphere for free for buying so much. And i wanted this chibi deadpool sticker, he threw that in for free as well. Everything was worth what it cost. And the shopping experience was fun. Not sure what people are complaining much about, becaude the shop smell is just an old building with a lot of games and clutter that are old too but its nothing to fuss over. I wish I got the guys name, he has long hair and is super chill, but his personality is great and reminds me of myself which is why he might come off blunt or something i dont know but he is kind and helpful and thats all you should care about when you go to shop for something. Decent prices on most things, some are overpriced, some are steals, but thats to be expected of most private owned businesses, and thats fine too, if he doesnt have what you want at the price you want check around!Great selection. Great service. Fun experience! For sure coming back when Im in town and wanting to check around. Come in and check it out for yourself! He was also open on a sak-con weekend and easter so...just saying, thats good buisness.Thank you for reading my review if you have come this far! Hope you find what youre looking for like I did (:
My girlfriend and I came in looking to buy smash bros and a controller for my N64. We left with a Mario party 7 edition gamecube, Smash, controller, and Tetris Sphere (all bundled together at an excellent price). The two best parts about this:1: my girfriend has wanted a new gamecube for years now and the guy pulled out this amazing edition with all of the components still in its original plastic.... And he gave it to us for just 150$!2: when he heard that we where kinda iffy about buying smash brothers (because we where already buying quite a bit) he offered us a deal..... Play him for a 25$ discount. He beat us both, but the experience was still incredibly fun! We purchased it, but he ended up throwing in Tetris Sphere (another game we wanted) for free because he had a lot of fun playing us.Overall, it was a really cool experience and I will definately be back!
Went a few months ago and found the guy who works there (Nick, it would seem from the other reviews) to be pushy and rude. Went again today hoping for somebody new to be there but was disappointed. Thats it for me. All of the knick knacks are so overpriced that I didnt even want to begin considering a bigger purchase, despite being actively in the market for a console.
Very rude mumbling stoner at the front counter - harasses in desperation to sell something (anything!) but then asks for such a high price on items that I initially thought he was joking. Avoid at all costs. Its a frustrating waste of time and honestly you deserve better as a customer than to keep this place in business.
Great guy help me out finding what I need
Really nice staff, calm atmosphere, might do theyre guitar lessons ^-^
Nice place to get all the classic and new games
These guys are great and the atmosphere is even better they have hearts here
Love this game store! Helpful friendly staff. :)
Just got an awsome deal on some cards and a ps one. Defently coming back
