They were friendly, polite, super fast, and very helpful with providing me with other information on a separate topic. They had a nice, clean waiting area with complimentary water or coffee and a soda machine. I didnt have to stand around, outside in the hot sun for almost an hour,( even though I had an appointment) like the last place I got a smog done. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

They were busy and had one of their smog techs out of the shop but still got us taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Always friendly staff and seem to be busy no matter when we come by.

Car was done later and not inexpensive as it was auto repair not smog.HOWEVER...I am thankful air in my 08 Mazda if fully functioning... Assured all are OEM parts so we know why it wasnt cheap.... Would be 5 start of I hadnt gotten it an extra day later after it was dropped off a day early and they had 7 days, while I was away, to do the work already. I dont live in this town I am 60 miles away and no way to get car later.... hence the week I was away... Work was scheduled.Sooo...4 stars as it got done, it works, and not overheating so its done correctly, Honestly during a heatwave that bay is hot I imagine and hard to work full day in it. I was told estimate was the high end and it was. Last I would have offered at least a 5% discount for the fact it was not just behind but not even started after 7 days without even 1 phone call from them.i had to call each time except the actual completion call.I was not offered old parts or to see them. Maybe they dont have to do that anymore.

I went to go get a smog at this place awhile ago and was greeted at the front desk by a young man named Zach who was super friendly and very professional. Another guy named Jordan came inside from the shop area and was speaking grotesquely and was being completely unprofessional. He had a very poor attitude and wasn’t wearing a uniform he didn’t acknowledge anyone and went back outside. I looked out of the window and saw him sitting in a chair playing on his phone. I did not feel like taking the risk of him doing a smog on my car so I thanked Zach for his kindness and said I would just take my car someplace else.

It cost $46.50 to smog my van. I believe appointments before 9 get 4 bucks off on the early bird special. I arrived shortly after opening and was in and out in maybe 15min. One man showed up when I was waiting on a Friday no less!!! I have heard a lot of complaints about this place. I dont know anything about their actual repair work. All I know is that I have gotten a great fairly quick smog every single time. Even when they are slammed Ive maybe been there 45 minutes which I feel is a realistic! Their counter staff are very friendly. Their mechanics are men and I know from personal friends that its not the best job on your body so I dont expect them to be happy and perky all the time as long as they do the job theyre paid for and they do. Ive had a smog here four or five times now Never had a problem. The one time I was throwing a code that wasnt showing up on my reader wasnt charged anything and they explained to me how to reset the code. It wasnt as simple as they or even my mechanics suspected until I had a diagnostic ran But thats fine. Not everything is as simple as it wants to be.

This place is awesome I had gotten there right after they closed and instead of turning me away the guy said dont worry we will get you taken care asap and get you on your way. Very good guys awesome place to get serviced and smog

I took my truck to A1 on bechelli a couple weeks ago. The service was OK the gale working the front desk was definitely there most personable seemed like she was somewhat new but she knew her job and she decent customer service. The price was great so if you know your vehicle will pass and want a good price thats your place. On the down side Im giving them three stars on the bases that there service tech just moped around going very slow like they didnt have a line of costumer waiting, also I was told I was third in line when I arrived and should not be more than forty five to an hour wait, well after about four cars and two hours goes by the gale working the desk tells me they have two more cars then mine, I was in no big hurry so I went on a walk when I got back my truck was done. So if you have time, or want to drop your vehicle off, and looking for a good price I would recommend them but dont expect the best costumer service.

This place rocks fast. In taking care of any problems diagnosed fast. Theyre the Masters. Employee talked to me about my vehicle was pleasant well groomed and attentive. And they do repairs for other vehicle issues brakes etc.

It was very busy and a few impatient customers. The young man at the front desk was extremely professional, polite and accommodating to each customer. He provided suggestions of a better time to return and walked customers through their paperwork. Quality employee and quality establishment.

It was horrible. The man who answered the phone said they were slow, he asked what time we would like to come in and my husband said 1:00. The man said PERFECT! Then we arrived at 1:00 and there were lots of people, and after waiting past our appt. Time we asked what was happening and were told they dont make appointments! WHY DONT THEY JUST SAY THAT ONE THE PHONE!! what a waste of time. And the smog guy was just talking to a man when all of those people were waiting. I never want to go there again!

I asked the tec if he was competent to move my manual diesel into the bay and offered to do it myself if he was unsure. He said it would be a piece of cake. Watched him dump the clutch hard, slip the clutch while reving my truck to ten-buck-two up a hill and dry steer my truck from lock to lock. Complete waste of time. I called for a smog appointment, like the website and operator on their phone line suggests. I was told just to come in and there wasnt much of a wait. I get there and some woman is blocking the reception with her huge dog. The male employee, wearing no mask asks why Im there. No greeting, just basically what do you want?! . I ask about a smog and he tells me its 2 hour wait and acts like Im wasting his time.

After 45 minutes past are appt. Time I went back to the office to see what was up. They said we never made an appt. And that it was first come first served. My first time getting smogged in Redding after moving from San Diego. What a difference! Fast, competitive pricing, extremely friendly. I chose this business because it was close, but Id recommend a drive across town if necessary to do business with these folks.

Best smog place in town

If you have an older vehicle do not take it here. Even if it passes emissions idle etc they will still fail it visually with out bending. Its supposed to be reved at 2500 rpms and the tech was going 4000 or higher. He and his co workers were throwing thumbs down as to have fun over very minimal light smoke. Use the guy that works on the families cars or friends because when they fail you they will kindly ask you to take it to the referees. No sweat off their backs because they do so many.

Dissatisfied. Passed emissions test. Failed by technician due to visual. Nothing wrong with vehicle.******update***** Owner called me personally to discuss my dissatisfaction. He explained all the ins and out of all the laws and regulation that they must follow to be a certified smog shop. He offered to retest for free and I feel he was honest and sincere with trying to make the situation correct. I will use this shop again.

This place on Bechelli took over 1 hour to do a smog test. It did not pass and then they charged me $68.00 while not even giving me a certificate to pass! NEVER GO THERE AGAIN !!! Not very nice people

In California you have to have smog I think its every 2 years and some smog shops make you wonder if theyre kind of shady this place is friendlyand they have a good tiny little weight room and they usually have coffee & vending machines so being that you have to go through this its good to go to a nice clean place.If you dont go when the doors open youre usually there forever ....but thats true with any of the smog shops. so you cant hold this against them.Go there early in the morning when they open so you can get out fast!I find that their mechanics are very knowledgeable and they will help you if you have a question.their secretaries are friendly so if you have to get your smog done in Reddingdefinitely go to an A-1 Smogyou wont feel like you got mechanics trying to cheat you.If you go to an A.1 youll actually get nice mechanics that you treat you like a person not a payday...

I would have given a negative 10 star review but it would not let me do yourself a favor and stay way from this place. Took my truck in for a smog which only they have performed on my truck got there for the early bird special the tech broke the dsl port they plug their machines into so bad it was dislodged from its mount and hanging during the pre smog while the lady was checking my mileage, at this point I asked to talk to Brent the manager he tells me he can try to see if it would read I say sure in that process I get 3 or 4 stories of how the part was worn and broke when I got there then Brent tells me I have to pay a failed smog fee because their machines would not link up to my truck because the part they broke while insisting they didnt break it and it would be well over 200 dollars to have them fix it and go from there to chase the check engine light it threw when they shorted out the dsl port so I was mad drove home noticed now I have no radio or dome lights once again all working fine when I took there so I called Brent and he said bring it back and they would change the blown fuses and heres the stupid part I had to ask him if I should separate all the pins left hanging and touching by his shop before I drive and he said that would probably be a good idea well of coarse any good shop would not have let a vehicle leave with a part they just worked on shorting out right. So I get back to the shop Brent has now left and the same kid that broke the part in my truck to start with Chans the I.o.d. fuse shock in my truck takes a factory style puller which he looked around the shop could not find one and with me standing there decides it would be a good idea to grab the fuse with a pair of pliers and shear the factory keeper for the fuse of and the plastic hose flying I was so mad he put the fuse new fuse in guess what no more check engine light and I had to leave before I choked the kid. So I go back after the weekend to see if he wants to meet in the middle on the parts and labor since his guys broke it and all he offers is 20 dollars off the labor and only wants to wine about trying to find a new keeper for the fuse to avoid working with me on the parts his guys broke and in the mean time gave me at least 5 different stories about how they werent responsible the part was worn out this that the other and the tech was great then the next sentence he was new. So in short please do not do business at this place I will be reporting these guys to bbb right after I post this.

Took my car for break and lights, and my break fluid line got pulled out and loosened so it leaked all over the breaks. It locked my ebreak and my car wouldnt go. Someone isnt putting things back together properly.

Great people fast service

The folks there always do a great job. I have been returning for service to Brents (the owner) shop for nearly 30 years. The counter service is friendly and the servicemen are knowledgeable. They may charge a bit more, but its worth it to have it done right the first time.

I was in and out in about 30 mins and the customer service was great. The waiting room has coffee and vending machines and its pretty clean and fairly inexpensive.

A1 smog on Bechelli lane is the most dishonest smog shop in Redding. They are also by far the slowest and the least professional of any smog business in the area.
