Definitely one of the best Co-Op stores Ive been to! Every time Im in a new town I make sure to check out their local Co-op and this was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful, the products had a good range of price points as well as variety, and the store was perfectly clean. Great place to get your groceries or specialty items.
Great selection of bulk grains at good prices. Variety of spices and seasonings is amazing at inexpensive prices!!! Friendly helpful staff😁
This was a very neat store. The lady in here that helped me and my wife was very knowledgeable about the probiotis and other stuff sold in the store. I ha e never been in a store where you can cut and buy natural bar soap and dish soap and laundry soap you could fill a container up and buy it that way. All the staff was super friendly
This store offers good food and merchandise that are organics, as well as vitamins. I was able to use 2 coupons a month before by splitting my purchases. My next visit was denied. I can only use one coupon ($10) for my $100 purchased which I could use another $5 off.
Love this place. Staff is great and very helpful
This is our best opportunity to find a good variety of healthy foods in Rapid City.
Its a great idea, I get it, but I cant afford to pay 9 dollars for a gluten free roll. The prices are insane, but If I ever make my millions, I will definitely shop here more. I try to get one or two small things a week, this week was Strawberry Zevia, first store Ive EVER seen to carry Strawberry, and some gluten free Figgies and Jammies. Mainly because I love saying Figgies and Jammies. They ARE gluten free, so dont expect ANY moisture in the breading, but the blueberries in the middle are great! And If you have to eat gluten free, they will do!
Fantastic staff! The food selection was very diverse, and I found a lot of things I cant find elsewhere. Will definitely be returning!
My new favorite store ever. Totally Organic mini grocery store. Its awesome.
Small selection compared to what Im used to in Arizona but its better than no organic options.
I love that I can find organic and local produce as well as a fantastic bulk foods section! Great for vegetarians and anyone else that wants to put healthy, consumer conscious food in their body.
Everyone is super friendly and they have a great selection! As someone who is lactose intolerant, I got so excited to see the selection of non-dairy products available!
Great selection selection of food, nice clean store too. Pitiful supplement selection. Employess all wear muzzles and will soon have bacterial pnuemonia from breathing in their own toxic exhaust. Doubt theyre very healthy.
Great healthy natural store. Lots of options in a small space.
Very nice whole foods store. Good selection.
Good selection. I was looking elderberry and vitamin d and they had what I needed. Picked up some groceries too.
Great experience - We stopped here on the recommendation of our friends and loved their selection of products, especially the gluten free stuff they have. Friendly service just left us with all the good vibes - well be back soon!
Im giving a 1 because their prices are disrespectful. Ive gone to 20+ health foods stores across the east and midwest and this place has prices anywhere from 50-150% more than anywhere else Ive been...
They have a good assortment even gf and non-dairy
First time customers here but ill definitely be back, i love the variety of organic and gluten free items in the store!
I love this place. The people there are so friendly and helpful. The produce is always so fresh and they have a large selection of flours, nuts, and grains. I always find everything I need.
They sell decent enough products. To my surprise I found only one product that MAY contain bioengineered ingredients in the whole store. I dont appreciate the passive-aggressive behaviors from the staff nor do I care anything for the masking and the over sanitization of the store, however; but then this whole entire scamdemic has revealed who understands terrain theory and true natural healing modalities versus those who drink the Kool-Aid of allopathy. Its disheartening to see it in a health food store that sustains and prides itself in providing healthy, nutritious foods and supplements and not in masks and vaccines. This clearly demonstrates the Board of Directors care far less about health and truly sustainable food production and more about transhumanism: complete with masks and curb-side human-free shopping. Funny how people who wouldnt mandate flu shots 5 years ago are now promoting limiting the flow of oxygen into their lungs and ultimately into their bloodstreams and to their brains. While Breadroot sells good food (for an exorbitant price) and has some truly beautiful and incredible members and customers, they lack healthy leadership not living below the veil of consciousness. 🤡🌎
A bit pricey even for a co op I think. And if your going here in Hopes of some fresh bread, sandwiches, etc. You will be disaapointed. But I love co ops still and support them!
Super cute place. The prices are fair for what you get. Love the Veggie Chips they have! Very friendly staff, and very clean store. Keep up the amazing work!
I love this place. Local supporting local. Yummy products for nutrition and dietary needs. Community focused... Theyre doing business right!
Glad this place exists. Definitely consider buying in if you are living in the area. Staff were friendly.
Excellent vegan options in a town with no vegan restaurants
I dont know where to start, this place rocks! From the grocery options, the bulk products and the personal hygiene options, everything is amazing and earth conscious. If you get a chance I highly recommend shopping here.
Great customer service and price is reasonable. Ty
Great store tons of organic, gluten free and natural products, but insanely expensive. I’ve lived in the Bay Area where food costs are crazy and this place is the most expensive coop I’ve ever shopped in. Everything seems to be $3-5 more expensive than any other store. Sad that clean food is so unattainable for the community here.
If I want any kind of good produce. Breadroot is the place to be.
Really awesome co-op. Super friendly staff and great selection. A lot of vegan choices!@wanderlustmoonduo
💚 Love my local co-op. They really do support local, organic, non GMO & fair trade through and through. 💚
The best of the best in Rapid City!. A store full of fresh, natural goodness, and a wonderful staff of knowledgeable and caring professionals!
I became a member-owner after coming here for a couple years. A wonderful place to go to if youre looking to become zero waste, buy more locally, or just do a little better for yourself. I love not having to go to walmart anymore and support my community more directly.
Super friendly staff, amazing natural and organic and local selection!
Wonderful health foods store. Great prices and incredible staff. Becoming a member offers some amazing benefits.
Friendly staff and lots of healthy food options. Im a vegetarian from out of town, and I was so happy to find this place!
Awesome selection of very healthy and clean food. Very nice and helpful employees. Will definitely be going back when Im in town.
Very clean BUT extremely high on prices.
I had mixed impression from the co-op. The positive thing is that there was a very good selection of bulk goods available and I was able to buy a few things I needed. On the other hand, prices on all things were insanely high. I traveled around entire country recently and this was probably the most expensive natural food store I had seen. Theyre on the major interstate highway, not that isolated in some remote small town, and Ive seen much lower prices in natural stores in Fargo ND or Kansas, which are no less isolated than this store, not sure whats causing such exorbitant pricing.
5 stars for breadroot. I highly recomend them.
Awesome place!!! Excellent and healthy choices! Clean store! Pure positive vibes and energy at this place! I just recently moved out of South Dakota and this is one store I MISS sooooo much! Havent found another store/co-op as special and great as this one! It can be a little pricey but its worth the food they provide and the service. Breadroot Rocks!!! =)
You couldnt ask for nicer folks. The staff is always super friendly and willing to help. The store is clean, well lit, and free of foul odors. The biggest draw back here is its size. The store would be so much nicer if bulk, produce, meats, and cheeses had more room. A slightly larger section for each would make a trip to the big grocery stores unnecessary most trips.
Thank you. A great place for organic food and the people working here are stellar!
Not only do I work here, but I am also a very grateful member of the Co-op. I would say I do 99.5% of my purchases as a consumer in this store. Breadroot has such a clean and spacious environment. There is always something new to try. If you are looking for a diverse selection of fresh Organic produce, local grass-fed meat, sustainable beauty products or just something new to try. Look no further! The Co-op has you covered.
Friendly staff. Clean store. Great products.
We choose not to shop here but for a health food store they are exactly that. Please consider shopping at:1. The Market on Omaha (Less than 1/2 mile away.)2. Staple & Spice (Downtown)=============This was written after the reply. Just in case they change their response to my review I am posting there response here:BREADROOT: [Response from the owner]Hi Guy, thanks for taking the time to write a review on the Co-op! Have you stopped in recently and taken advantage of our Co+op Deals program or Coupon Books? We have hundreds of products on sale wit...GUY SIVERSON:Based on how they replied it doesnt look like they read the review. This is central to the exact reason that we will not shop at Breadroot. Not only does it seem they dont read but they also dont feel it necessary to contact a member who tried to make connections with management for over 6 months. It mattered not if I went in person, emailed or called; my results were the same.////////////// - UPDATE 6.18It has been quite some time since I spoke with them and they were to get back to me about the possibility of a resolve that would work for us all. Honestly, I even forgot all about this.I never heard back from them and as a result am moving this back to a one star.Lack of follow through is my biggest concern and complaint. If they are not willing to keep their word as it relates to working with Rapid City residents then I for one am very concerned about the viability and trust-ability of what they are bringing to the market. This failure to follow through has occurred toward two totally separate topics and from more than just one individual. I have not experienced this anywhere else in all of Rapid City and certainly not to the level I am experiencing it from this specific company.////////////// - UPDATE 6.25Received a call from Rachel regarding my recent update of this review. Apparently I missed a call returned sometime in Feb. It can happen. That point is resolved though I am intrigued and saddened that it took an adjustment to a 1 star for Breadroot to consider it time to attempt a follow-up. However, thats beside the point of this entire event and as such will not in and of itself cause a further drop in star rating if it were possible.Sadly, based on the rest of the call I do not believe that this rating will rise any time in the near future. I am personally disappointed in that because prior to this entire event we were loyal members of Breadroot. It is presently my opinion that if you want people helping you that truly care about you as a customer rather than just wanting your money you should go to The Market on Omaha or Staple & Spice. In conversation I advised that I would change this review to a 3 or 4 star and give a much more positive write-up plus writing a glowing review from my own Website if Breadroot would come to the table with something that makes sense for the mistreatment that has taken place in this situation.Rachel asked if I were referring to something financially and I advised that I did not know but encouraged creativity of thinking to be brought forward and offered. Based on the tenor of the call I am left feeling that nothing further will take place.I do hope I am wrong. If I am not I will continue taking my business that would be going to this establishment to other locations like:1. The Market (THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING)2. Staple & Spice (Always nice but not a frequent flier here)
Good selection, nice peeps. Thank God theres a few people awake.
Its Kool.
A nice health food co-op. Typical items you would find in a store like this. Fresh produce, lots of bulk food, frozen and dry goods. The staff were friendly.
Available & helpful staff!
There really is no better place to go for groceries in the state!
They have so many items that you can’t find in major commercial places like Target or Walmart. I love the natural products and the healthy options. My favorite part is that you can bring in your own jars for spices and flours. Less waste. Love it.
If youre into healthy eating this is the place to shop.
Great place to get our organic and gluten free foods. Friendly and well stocked.
We were headed to Spearfish campground when we got hungry and didnt have any food. Panic! We stopped at Breadroot because we are gluten-free, dairy-free and corn-free. We loved their selection because it had so many foods that we could eat. More, in fact, than the natural food store we shop at near Denver! They had lots of healthy chips, delicious dairy-free Popsicles, and lots of organic fruit and vegetables. We also liked that they were easy to find and that there was a field for our dog to explore right next to it. It saved us from a long car trip that wasnt enjoyable! (Reviewed by a six and an eight year old with a little help from mom.)
I love the spice wall where you can buy in bulk. I get raw honey in bulk at a very good price here. I fill my water jugs weekly. The water tastes amazing from this machine they have. Their selection is always growing. I buy a membership every year to take advantage of bulk shopping.
Co-op with a good variety of high quality items. I wish I was local (I was visiting) because I would have loved to join the Co-op. Great employees and great cause.
Spendy. Trendy. I go for specific things like dairy coffee honey and bread. Most stuff is crazy high priced.
There needs to be more local co ops like Breadroot, stores like Staple & Spice and organic health food restaurants.
Excellent locally owned store to buy organic foods and locally raised vegetables. Remember to bring your own bag for a .05 cent discount.
A wonderful, healthful place to shop confidently for fresh, or frozen produce, organic foods and spices in bulk or prepackaged. Other health care and household items are available as well.I always find something new to try.Jeffrey and his wife are so helpful and friendly. Its a joy to shop here!!
They have a great selection of health foods that fit my keto lifestyle. Super friendly staff. Love this place!
Great spot! Wonderful selection of everything you need, as well as some fun variety. Fantastic destination for healthy and natural goodies.
It was on my way by, on my bike and I wanted some sweetener for my Kool-Aid and they got a $5 limit.....oohh k .......
One of the only natural food stores in Rapid City. They have a pretty good selection, but I hope they expand, especially their gluten free selections.
I had a good time there, shopping for the groceries I needed. They had a 25% off day for all their wellness products.
If you find yourself in Rapid City and in need of affordable, organic staples and snacks this is the place to go. There is a good selection of organic and local produce. There are only a couple co-ops in the entire state, and this is the one with the most heart and commitment. Great people watching as well.
Best place to get local and organic produce in town. The staff is very friendly and helpful too!
Lots of variety. Competitive prices. Able to support local businesses.
People with food allergies or a hankering for organic or local produce or a passion for buying local will love this place. I love their organic, nontoxic health and beauty items. Sometimes I experience a bit of sticker shock, but I remind myself its the literal price of supporting local farmers, sustainable businesses, and products sold to support human rights causes.
Very expensive
I regularly shop at Breadroot, though I have not yet become a member. I generally purchase bulk spices, honey, and things like quinoa and granola. The prices for the items I typically buy are very good. Ive gone into the store & refilled 8 spice containers for less than $5! Prices for the non-bulk items can be very high, however because neither I nor my family have any food allergies or restrictions, I generally skip those anyway. Every time Ive gone in, all the employees have been courteous and helpful without being clingy or annoying. So happy to have a store like this in our area.
In love with this place. Almost everything I would normally buy at the supermarket, but better quality. Prices are pretty high, but thats what you get for buying local, organic, vegan food.
Quality products need a little more knowledgeable employees.
I love Breadroot. Great products and community-oriented.
Best place to shop in rapid City for organic products, also if youre vegetarian they have a lot of choices for you.
Ever-expanding local co-op with a large selection of products. If youre looking for local produce or meat, definitely the place to check out. Also a great place to find some hard-to-locate ingredients. Really love the locally-farmed eggs and bulk rice, quinoa, nuts, and grains.
Why do healthy food places have to be soon expensive
The store is pleasant and has a good selection of items. People are friendly, too. However, their pricing borders on a gouge for many items and, as such, dont purchase much from them. I will not buy any item I know is overpriced. For example, I visited the store to purchase a box of Alacer Emergen-C. The price was just over $18.00. List price at Amazon is around $15.00 and they sell same for $11.13. Swansons has same for $10.00. Shipping is free for both Amazon and Swansons in our particular case, by the way. In either of these cases, there is no sales tax. In any case, Breadroot needs to adjust their prices to be more competitive, otherwise they wont last long in todays competitive world.
Healthy and wholesome items you cant find elsewhere in Rapid City
This is a co-op. The membership fee is reasonable and they have a wide assortment of products.
Great selection of organic and local foods, very knowledgeable and helpful staff, love being a member!
They have decent prices for a health food store and the best selection I have found in the hills.
Super expensive store with limited selection
My wife and I love shopping here. We usually purchase in bulk. If not, the prices are high. They also have a great selection of spices.
Awesome place. The staff is very helpful and there are a lot of options to choose from.
Best place to good quality dried herbs and spices in the quantity you want at low prices.
Our local co-op - I love the staff - I love to purchase in bulk, I appreciate their attention to our local growers!
Breadroot is one of the best natural foods store Ive used, for selection, quality, and pricing. They have a great bulk food selection.
This small store was surprisingly packed full, with a selection rivaling co-ops in bigger cities. A bit pricey when compared to the area, but staff was super friendly and helpful.
Theyre doing a great job here considering their obvious limited resources. Hopefully more consumers will take an interest in their health and start shopping here to allow them to expand with more products and lower prices.
Nice little natural grocery store. As stated by many reviewers, the prices are higher than they need to be...but that caters to their target market.
Selection is decent, but the prices are astronomical compared to similar stores in neighboring states.
I always love coming here its such a cute location. They always have what I need and you cant beat the prices for natural organic food.
Lovely and friendly staff!
Disappointing co-op. Nice check out person, but our child was scolded when picking up a treat we told him to get.
Great store to stock up on healthy foods! Staff was very friendly as well.
