Quite an eclectic spot. It feels like walking into Central Perk from Friends in the 90s. (Which isnt necessarily a bad thing! ;) ) Great location right by Five Points. Wall is lined with tables and power supplies for folks to work remote. The music is at a comfortable level (not loud, thank you!) making it easy to work or have a conversation.I had a bagel and coffee and both were fine.

What is The Third Place? The third place is a not a physical location, its not a venue. So what is it? The third place is a feeling, a sense of community and togetherness. The Third Place Coffee Shop is the embodiment of what a third place is. I frequent many coffee shops that arent anywhere close to what a third place should be. As I looked around almost everyone was engaged in a conversation and enjoying the fellowship that this coffee house facilitates. I was one of only 2 weirdos sitting by themselves on their computer. hahaTheir baked goods and other food items looked delicious!A special thanks to Nzinga who helped me get a better understanding of what a third place really is!Side note: Their nitro cold brew is actually pretty good. (I dont generally like the nitro brew)

They used to be open until 7pm, and then it changed to 5pm, and then it changed to 2pm, and then it changed to noon. Not only that, but they havent allowed customers to set foot in the store for over a year. Really confused as to why theyre still in business or why they dont at least hand the store over to someone who wants to serve customers instead of shunning them.

Whats the point of a coffee shop that wont even let people come inside?I took the money I would have spent going to this place and the other nearby coffee shops that are too scared to open and bought a Nespresso machine instead.Memo to Third Place: you are killing your own business.

15 years ago I would come to this coffee shop to study, hang, catch some live acoustic music and of course... enjoy some coffee. Years later, the atmosphere and ambience are still as warm and comfortable as I remember. Coffee and food choices for a light lunch were excellent. The folks behind the counter were as personable and friendly as they had been years prior. Whenever we are in Raleigh a stop here is a must for us! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My favorite coffee shop in Raleigh! I love the Third Place Chai and the vegan banana chocolate chip muffins are so moist and delicious. This use to be my favorite coffee shop and for many years. They have become more of a fifth place because they have weird summer hours and different operational hours. If you are still fan and know the story behind the name, you will understand this review. When I was in college I knew the original owners, Tye was always super friendly and amazing when we went there. I have been still a pretty loyal customer since, but the ambiance seems to be changing more....not sure if it is the shop itself or the community? I love the third place, and hope it will be around for many more years to come!!!

Ever evolving, I have been patronizing since 1997. It can be up and down depending on staff, but thats any coffee shop. Its an old Raleigh local favorite serving a great wholesome organic breakfast and local coffee. Kid and dog friendly, quite busy with both on weekend mornings. Its better to park a couple blocks away after 8am just in general, especially on weekends.

The quintessential coffee shop. It is warm, cozy and inviting and has comfy seating options. Go take a book or your computer and stay awhile. Unlike most coffee shops they actually offer a substantial food menu with great sandwich options., making it possible for you to hang out there all day long! The only downside is that the parking is a little limited and it can take a few swings around the block to find a spot.

After moving to the triangle area I was becoming a bit homesick and missing art and deeply cozy coffee culture. After a full morning of driving to different shops I found this wonderful place. In addition, she pointed me to the water but there were no cups but there WAS a gross pile of dirty dishes underneath the water. Counter girl was VERY apathetic and disinterested. Maybe they go downhill during the summer....whatever it was I won’t be coming back! I’d expected better given the reviews......

This is my neighborhood coffee shop - a great place to meet colleagues or friends mid-week, or to walk in for breakfast on weekends. The coffee is good, Id say, the house blend is usually medium roasted. I see many people ordering specialty espresso drinks - not my thing. The bacon, egg and spinach breakfast burrito is my usual food pick. It is packed with spinach, and is a bit bitter, but the optional bacon makes it also indulgent. My kids always go for a bacon, egg and cheese bagel, and they share a cinnamon twist - a reasonable balance of nutrition and sweetness. :-)To me, the ambiance is also a great draw. I like walking there with my dog, and use one of the outsider tables; or I use an inside table for work meetings, and I sit on one of the loungy couches if I am there with family or friends. David, the owner, is a cool dude - calls patrons by their name, shows art from fledgling local artists and neighbors, and somehow seems to recruit and train interesting, complex, diligent staff. All out, my favorite place to drink coffee and fee grounded.

My personal favorite is an iced vanilla latte, and Third Place has one of the best Ive ever had. I also love the BLGT bagel sandwich (bacon lettuce goat cheese and tomato). An archetype of the independent neighborhood coffee shop. Goes without saying that the coffee and espresso drinks are good, with beans from Larry’s Coffee, which is less than a mile away. Good food for breakfast and lunch as well. But just hang out here for a little while and see all the regulars come and go and you get a feel for its place in the neighborhood. If you live nearby you’re almost guaranteed to see someone you know while you’re there. Only downside is that parking can be a challenge if you are driving. But you’ll figure it out.

The food, coffee and smoothies are great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was a little overly eclectic and uncomfortable for a work space. The internet connection was so poor that it was not useable at all. The biggest problem with working here is that when they make espresso drinks they use something that makes such a loud banging noise that headphones all the way still wont mask it. If youre looking for a place to hang with friends its a win but if youre looking to concentrate even a little bit you need to find another place.
