Wow, what a huge disappointment. Nice people but the food was horrible. Pound cake on display was dry and grainy. Cinnamon muffin was mostly raisins, which were not listed as part of the muffin and the icing was hard and icky sweet. Niece picked out most of them and it was a LOT. Okay if you knew you were buying raisins but… Nope not good at all and a total waste of money. How did they get so many good ratings? Friends and family?

My daughter purchased a birthday cake for her son today. I am not a fan of cake generally speaking. That being said, that cake was absolutely outstanding. One of the best I have ever had!!! May even turn me into a cake lover. Will certainly recommend the groovy duck to my friends.

Just happened to be mailing at the UPS store next door and the name of this bakery caught my eye. Decided to walk in just to browse and was drawn to how yummy the muffins and cakes looked. Space is small, but full of character! Had the best lavender cold brew and cinnabun ! Will continue going here as a repeat customer.

I have been coming here for a couple of months. Just bought a red velvet cupcake, and its stale. 3-4 time this has happened. U go to a bakery to expect fresh goods. They are super delicious and put great care into each thing they make whether big or small. After discovering them while ordering 100 graduation cookies for a 5th grade graduation, I’ve since gone back a few times and loved everything I’ve had each time. They are a little tucked away, off Edward’s Mill, but we’ll worth the visit.

Ordered a cake for my daughter 2 weeks ago. I was very specific about what I wanted. The cake was completely the wrong color and shape. There offered to change but I was specific about what time I needed the cake also. No time to redo. Very disappointed. I should have just ordered from Harris Teeter at least they would have done what I asked and I Southaven saved money. Definitely will not use again

Stopped into the Groovy Duck Bakery today while dropping off a UPS package… the gal at the counter was charming and engaging… i then decided I couldn’t leave without taking something home… chose a German Chocolate and Triple Chocolate cupcakes… well dang, so great!!! Fresh, light and flavorful… well done And ty GRoovy Duck Bakery!

Delicious out of the way bakery that offers cakes, cupcakes, cookies. We ordered the German chocolate and vanilla chocolate core cupcakes, almond horn cookies, and dog biscuits. The cupcakes were perfectly baked - moist, flavorful. The decorations on the cupcakes were nice enough to give as a gift. The cookies were moist and full of almond paste - yum. The dogs loved the biscuits. The bakery has fun tables and toys for kids. True to their name, they had a display of funny rubber ducks for sale, too. It is hard to see from the street - it is next to a UPS store in the back of a strip of stores- but worth the hunt. The staff were friendly and service was quick. We will definitely be back.

Groovy Duck did our wedding cake, and it was absolutely delicious! The cake itself was rich and moist, and the buttercream frosting was light and the perfect complement without being overbearing. On top of the taste, the appearance was stunning with a gorgeous lattice pattern and lovely maroon ribbon around the base of each layer. Highly recommend!!

Just had a mocha cake. Probably the best birthday cake Ive ever had!!

I love trying new bakeries and this was my first time here. I purchased the Mocha cake and had it decorated very elaborately for my sister’s birthday. The cake was gorgeous and the design was exactly what I wanted. The Mocha flavoring was to die for and I’ve had mocha from other bakeries. We’ve never had a more moist cake and sis was blown away! We will definitely be back!!!

Shortbread cookies are the best! We’ve also ordered my dad his strawberry shortcake for his birthday the last two years from here. The absolutely best whipped cream!! Wish they were closer to us, but we don’t mind the drive for delicious treats.

Variety of tasty muffins, i love the apricot zucchini and the orange creamsicle! I can have anything from the menu if i order in one or two days in advance. The best cream cheese danishes and fresh fruit tarts come from this local bakery. I love getting my holiday baked goods from this shop. The coffee is made fresh and custom to my liking, they use a local coffee company which is nice. I always see beautiful cakes and shortbread cookies that were made custom to client orders with a range from simple and traditional to over the top and a show stopper! Great job Groovy Ducks!!!

This bakery is awesome!!! Anytime I need a special something to add to a gift they always have the most beautiful iced cookies (and they are totally seasonal- teachers appreciation week they had little chalk boards, apples, crayons- valentines day they had super cute valentine AND galentine cookies). They make my favorite german chocolate cake ever, and their muffins are amazing. Seriously- give them a try you will not be disappointed!!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! I was looking for a 3D cake and stumbled across Groovy Duck which was the best thing that could have happened! We werent quite sure what we wanted and just had some general thoughts. Beth & her team took those ideas and made them a reality. Our cakes were a huge focus point at our party and were delicious too! Groovy Duck will not disappoint!! Will be using them for all events going forward!

Not the best cake I’ve ever had, maybe since it was a few days old it had dried out but it just tasted like any grocery store cake. Definitely not bad though. I’d try them again on a non-discounted, fresh cake purchase.

The shortbread cookies here are SO good, will go back just for these. Customer service was fantastic, as they were able to make my sons baptism cake with just a weeks notice, and it was super delicious. Everyone was blown away. Thanks Groovy Duck!

This is an awesomely cute and delicious local bakery. They offer a variety of muffins, cookies and cakes. I had a spiced pear muffin and it was the best muffin Ive ever had! The coffee was also first rate, and certainly a better deal than the other nearby national chain coffee chains. I will definitely be back.

This is my favorite bakery in the area. The staff there is incredibly nice and very accommodating with custom requests. I first went here to get a cake for my girls first birthday. The menu options for a custom cake are mind boggling! So many amazing flavor combos! The bakery was able to make cupcake sizes of various combinations so that I could do a taste test (I had to pay for the cupcakes). Once I made my choice, they were able to decorate just like I asked. Just note that they dont put on cake toppers that you bring in, so they gave me a the semi-naked cake I requested and I added flowers and a cake topper. The cake was perfect and delicious! The prices for custom cakes are very good, especially compared to the other bakers from whom I got quotes.I also love getting muffins from here. Theyre all delicious, but Im obsessed with the Amish Friendship muffin. The cupcakes are also delicious and make perfect birthday treats for friends and family. I just wish the cupcakes in the display case had labels so I wouldnt have to ask what they all are. The mini cheesecakes are also delish. There are so many dessert choices here - you cant go wrong! They also have day old baked good for half off, which is a great deal.

This place had good cupcakes. I got an oreo cupcake and my wife got a chocolate moose cupcake. Coffee was good as well. The cashier was nice and held a conservation with us while she worked. There was outside seating and nice setting.

Awesome cupcakes!!! I spoke with Stephanie to get a quote on cupcakes for a 1st birthday party. She was extremely helpful. After going over options and prices, I called back and placed my order. Let her know I needed vanilla and she suggested buttercream icing. Told her the theme and color scheme and we went with 4 different colors to match the party. Picked them up and wanted to eat them on sight! Lol Everyone RAVED about how good they were and I couldnt agree more. Werent too sweet and they looked great for the party. Ill definitely be back.

Best bakery in the area. Their apple and pumpkin pies are un-freakin-believeably awesome. The people that work there are some of the nicest people. I wish they would open a location closer to us.I highly recommend them for cakes, pies and cup cakes. Weve ordered here many many times.

Average bakery. Just moved to the neighborhood and over the last several weeks have purchased several baked items (cupcakes, muffin, chocolate bar, scone, cookie) and all, with the exception of the bar, have been dry, tasteless, messy, and overall underwhelming. The best, by far, was the chocolate bar. Latte was also average - a little too milky for my personal preference.

We visited the bakery today because we are out of town and needed cake for daughters birthday. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We choose a variety of cakes and sweets and loved each one. When we sat down to sing happy birthday to my daughter the entire shop sang along. It was very sweet (literally and figuratively). Thanks guys !

For my sons 5th birthday his cake was custom from Groovy Duck Bakery and they did an amazing job! The design was beautiful and the cake tasted amazing! I could tell there was time and skill put into designing each little character! This was my sons best cake yet and one I think he will remember for all birthdays! I would absolutely recommend Groovy Duck Bakery if you are looking for something that looks awesome and tastes even better!

This place was amazing! They made my son a beautiful and delicious carnival cake. I am always skeptical about custom fondant and frosting but this cake was awesome and everyone enjoyed it. So much that there was no leftovers! Highly recommend them and will be using them again really soon!!

Another update: just to make sure Im being fair I gave Beth a call (again she did not contact me) and explained the situation. I was met with sarcasm and a lack of accountability as I explained to her that I am sure she has a wonderful product but the ball was dropped in this situation. Im disappointed she can not take accountability for it.She did however offer me a free cake I told her that would not be necessary because I have had my needs met by another bakery and did not appreciate the way I was being handled as a customer. She also removed her earlier nasty response to this post just so you all know.After looking at other reviews more thoroughly I see that this is a trend. I sincerely hope that they do a better job of handling situations like these moving forward. I wish them the best of luck.Update: I am not going to give this company much more of my time because they are trying to flip this to being my fault, which is so unprofessional. Stephanie, who im sure is a great person, did not communicate clearly or effectively which is in no way my fault. She even admitted that she dropped the ball on the phone with me as she did not get to my quote as she said she would. Also the fact that they have still not reached out to me at all even though they have my email and phone number but felt the need to respond to my review in public but not contact me directly is extremely telling.The fact remains this situation was handled in a clearly unprofessional manner and shows me the quality of the business. In no way was I disrespectful to Stephanie. I calmly and directly explained why this situation was unprofessional and dropped the issue. I have no want or need to be mean to anyone but this is a business and customer service is everything.I have since gotten my needs met and feel that Beth should contact customers in situations like this and understand the complete situation before concluding its the customers fault. My order was not for the next day when I sent the email but today when I was actually able to talk with Stephanie would have made the order a next day product.Again Im not unreasonable just severely disappointed, especially in the handling of this situation especially since my order was not last minute and I was told the order could be done. I talked with Stephanie yesterday about making a cake for my boyfriends birthday. I asked her if it would be possible to have the cake done and ready to pick up by a certain date. She said yes and to send her a email with the specifics around what I wanted by 6pm. I sent the email with the information right after I got off the phone which was by 1:40pm. I never received a reply and decided to send a follow up email. I again did not receive a reply and decided to call the next morning. When I called I was informed that the bakery could not do any of what I was asking because they were now booked but they offered me a pre made cake that was nothing like what I wanted. I asked if they could atleast make cup cakes. I was told no.At this point I am frustrated because I have been told they could deliver a service and I followed through on my end of the interaction but they did not. I now have no cake and less time to get a cake because I was assured that they could deliver on this service.I informed Stephanie that I would not be doing business with them and advised that in the future if a customer calls and asks for a service and they send what is asked of them then the shop should at least reply and also not say they can do something and then not follow through.This is one of the most unprofessional experiences I have had and I would advise that someone from management figure out how to create a system so that paying customers are not put in this situation.With all that said I will not be doing business with this bakery now or in the future.

I was next door shipping a package and decided to stop in and get a coffee and a cupcake to treat myself. I ended up getting a vanilla cupcake with cookie dough icing with some chocolate buttercream in the middle. Im not usually a big fan of chocolate icing but this cupcake was amazing. I havent had any reason to go this way since then but man I totally would get a cupcake there again.

This place is pretty hoss. Had the Amish Friendship muffin and it was delicious. Im also not a huge fan of lattes but I got one from here and it wasnt too milky or too sweet. A good mix of both. Will definitely be returning.

We ordered the Rainbow Cake. I’ve always had great cakes from this bakery. However, this one had more icing than cake. Obviously, you can’t see the layers on the inside when you pick up your cake. So just be careful if you are ordering this particular cake from here. We were disappointed. I placed a picture for comparison .. It’s the cake we paid $59 for vs the cake that is displayed on the website.

Really adorable bakery with phenomenal baking and creative cakes! We order on a monthly basis and they are quick and easy to work with. The flavors and variety they have are extensive and delicious! They also come out with new items regularly. Most recently that I’ve seen was an ice cream cupcake! Perfect spot for custom cakes and all the rest!

Outstanding service and a tremendous selection of top quality baked goods.I called to see if they had any pumpkin loaves on hand, the young lady confirmed they indeed did. I asked her if she could set 2 loaves aside for me, and she cheerfully obliged my request.We got there a couple of hours later and she had them ready for me.

My partner and I have lived up and down the east coast and we love dessert (a lot). I stopped at the UPS store next door and popped over for a cupcake, left with 3. My partner loves chocolate, chocolate anything but lately hasn’t been impressed with the desserts he has gotten anywhere. I got him a chocolate chocolate as a recommendation from an employee. He ate it fast yet slowly between each bite saying “this is the best cupcake I have every eaten” followed by “literally the best”. Thank you and we know where we’re going for every cupcake.

Best Chocolate Cake ever!!

Our company ordered a cake from Groovy Duck Bakery for a professional going away event which included leadership team members and many of our employees. This cake cost us $90.00. When it was received, I was disappointed as it was not professional looking nor did it have any business specific colors on it plus it was $90.00.This bakery chose it upon themselves to put black lettering and decoration on the cake and did a really horrible job with the handmanship and frosting. When I contacted the company and spoke to the owner, she stood by her teams work, was not apologetic at all and stated that they charge extra for any type of decoration on a cake. I asked her if this is how she would decorate a wedding cake and she said wedding cakes cost more - which makes me believe, this too her is what a $90.00 cake should look like.As another commenter stated, she was not willing to give a full refund and only stated that she would give a partial refund which is really unacceptable. They delivered this cake one hour before our event. If we had time, we would have asked them to take this cake back and would have purchased a better decorated cake at Sams Club.We will not be ordering from this company again and I let her know this. I also wanted to let others know what they would receive if they ordered a cake from this bakery. Please beware and ask for pictures and specifics to be written back to you in email so that you both have agreements in writing. Otherwise, they will pick black for your decorations, make it look like the picture attached then tell you it will cost more if you want them to put effort in making your cake look professional. The picture is what we received and what the owner stated you would receive for $90.00. Very unprofessional and we will not be back.

I went for a quick bite and got this almonds pastry that was absolutely delicious! When I started asking questions about ingredients, the cashier went and grabbed the baker so I could get all my questions answered completely. Im glad she wasnt just like I dont know, and took the initiative to help me. Great customer service. The Latte was great too!! The person making the drink make sure to ask if I want one or two shots. I definitely recommend this place For a snack or a drink.

Recently I had a wedding cake made, and in short notice (ordered 1 week before the wedding). There was no tasting, no bride or groom to approve the flavors, the cake was solely ordered via recommendation of the staff. I brought in a picture and showed them what I needed, picked the colors, and asked a special detail be added.The cake was AHHHH-mazing! Everyone kept asking where i ordered it. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish here. Im not sure if the sweet ladys name, but she was so patient, kind, and informative with me! I was selecting my daughters first cake- a smash cake- and just couldnt decide from size to colors etc... she helped me narrow it down, picked the cake up days later, and watched my little one devour that cake in minutes! The Groovy Duck is on point. I suggest you groove on over to the Groovy Duck for your cake needs and wants. We were 100% satisfied. The cake was not overly sweet. The sugar used was simply a complement to the other ingredients.

The cake that we ended up with was not only gorgeous, it came in under the estimated quote, and was absolutely delicious. The chocolate cake was moist and super chocolately and the mocha filling awesome. Thanks guys, you are now our go-to!

We bought a Spider-Man cake for my sons 2nd birthday and it was great! The cake looked nice and it tasted great. Not too sweet, just right! Everyone at the party enjoyed it.

Stopped by randomly after leaving a DR. appointment with mom. Saw the bakery sign from the street and I just had to check it out. Im sooooooo glad I did! The triple chocolate cupcake will change your life! Amazing! I love that they are a small independently owned local bakery. I love the quirky name and ambiance we also had a brownie also delicious and a whole grain muffin of some kind that was also fabulous! My only regret is that I live 45 minutes away! By far the best cupcake Ive had in Raleigh and Ive been to all of the cupcake shops!

This is one of the most underrated bakeries in Raleigh, serving cakes, cookies, muffins, cinnamon buns, and a menu of espresso beverages also. They are accommodating and do mass orders also. Very impressed and am making these guys my local stomping grounds for bakery items for sure.

Its a great place to get a variety of coffees and a variety of muffins and pastries. It is not a place to go to to have lunch. But for a nice relaxing coffee and Wi-Fi or a book? Nice place to stop in two.

This is a really nice LOCAL bakery with great coffee. The staff is really nice and the vibe is really groovy. Even though it is a small operation they have a large variety of everything. They have a play area for kids and lots to look at. I highly recommend the Groovy Duck.
