Haven’t had waffle mix the past 3 times I’ve gone. I can understand the low supply of food but i don’t appreciate the rude remarks made by the staff members when I ask for something out of stock. Haven’t had a good experience here in months.
Pumpkin spice chai latte was the best I’ve ever had, and the Belgium waffle is outstanding.
Great coffee, yummy food, fun atmosphere, and a good spot to work.
Horrible service.. and expensive.. and food was like cold/warm. Never coming here again.
The first time I went to this little café was when I visited Raleigh a couple years ago and I wasnt impressed due to staff being a little rude and the coffee being a bit harsh. Since then, I recently decided to go back and give it another go.I must have got unlucky the first time or they noticed the problem and made adjustments. The coffee shop had fantastic coffee and great pastries! Some of them are made in house and some arent. The staff will tell you which are if you want something they made, but to help out the muffins are made by them.I got a mocha and a Nutella chocolate banana bread muffin. The muffin was delicious and the coffee was good quality. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful making this a nice little experience. The interior is nicely decorated and the tables are good enough to set up and work from. A calming atmosphere without it being too loud.
Quality waffles, but take note! They stop making them at 4pm. Otherwise a really great place to meet a friend or sit and work for a while. Add this place to your list of coffee shops in Raleigh!
Man, I dont know what happened but the waffles dont taste the same. It was 1 of my favorite places to get waffles and now after that last visit, its not. There was absolutely no taste, my first thought was how empty it tasted. They also gave to much strawberries to go, and the whipped cream went flat (but I expected that). There was no syrup as well, and I dont fancy the to go boxes. Maybe theyd taste better if I had dined in? HA shouldnt have made a difference. I just wont go back, too bad.
Normally love this place, but 3/4 of staff behind counter had their masks around their chins? Wouldnt pull them up when asked? What gives?
Pet friendly and good coffee. Outdoor seating clean and free of bugs.
Great cafe, strong coffee and delicious pastries. The WiFi is terrible though so it’s hard to work.
My absolute favorite coffee shop in the Raleigh area!! Great selection of baked goods and food (some vegan/gluten friendly) and amazing drinks. Staff is always so nice. I go there at least once a week.
I really want to love this place. Great location, the service was pretty fast and certainly friendly. My waffle was tasty and the drip coffee was almost as good as I make at home. The wifi is so slow we had to leave, though. It wasnt just me as I spoke to others that said it was pretty common. Its a 5 star for everything except a place to enjoy a coffee and get some work done, sadly.Update: Im sorry its taken me so long to get back to Benelux and update my review. The coffee and food were always great. Now the wifi is really fast and I was able to stay for a while and get some work done. Ill be returning on a regular basis!
Ive been visiting this coffee shop since the early 2010s when they were still located in Downtown Raleigh! Same great coffee, and friendly people.
Friendly service, good food, and good coffee. Would come again
A pet-friendly cafe - WHAAAAATTT !!!!! Welcome to Benelux Coffee :)Husband, Bambi (our pitmix rescue girl) and I visited Benelux at about 1.45pm on a cold but sunny Saturday in Dec and the place was almost full, got even busier 10 minutes after we got there. It was out first time taking Bambi to a cafe and Benelux was paw-some!! There were already 2-3 other dogs in there and yet it was nice and quiet. There is some outdoor seating, small indoor tables-comfortable enough for a party of 2, they also have a couple couches to relax and hang out if you have a larger group. We got a small table indoors and Bambi laid down by our side, tail wagging at all times :) There are doggie biscuits on the counter - theyre good, if you want to keep your pup occupied and fed while you enjoy your Benelu-cious food!We got a small Cafe Mocha with whipped cream, a broccoli-onion-cheese quiche and the signature Madame waffle. Quick service, friendly staff and a cool ambience-decor.The cafe mocha was perfect and came with a biscotti. Husband especially liked the quiche, I thought it was okay. The quiche comes with a side salad / fruit salad. I got the side salad and it was surprisingly delicious. The madame waffle is a signature Belgian waffle, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream - AH-May-ZING! Absolutely loved it!Overall, we had a great time at Benelux cafe. Bambi highly recommends it for the biscuits, friendly people, fur-friends and cuz it made her humans so happy. If you want to hang out / study / work while chomping on some quick snack and great tea / coffee, definitely pay Benelux Coffee a visit. Dont forget to bring your fur babies !!!
Charming place, very cozy. Good tasting coffee with yummy breakfast options. 7-8 parking spots just adjacent to the cafe.
Great drinks across the board but the lines can get outrageous around mid-afternoon when Im usually there, and whichever lone employee is there always ends up looking so overwhelmed. The owners need to pony up and get more hands on deck
The place has a charming, cozy decor, but the latte was just bad. Definitely over-extracted espresso in there.
This is a great place to relax after a long day of running back and forth in the city. It has a very calming atmosphere. Love it!
I went in yesterday to get just a simple cold brew which was delicious. The lady behind the counter however, did not provide professional customer service and treated me like I was an inconvenience to her day. She wasnt wearing a mask until she saw I had one on and scrambled to find her mask. She seems to hate her job and it gives the establishment a bad vibe. Ive had better experience at Starbucks but I came to support a local business and walked out feeling confused. I used to work in customer service so I understand how hard the job can be but its important to at least provide good service no matter how you feel. Maybe the barista was having a bad day. Not coming back!
I don’t frequent this place as often as I’d like because it’s on the other side of town, but I really enjoy the atmosphere and quality of drinks/food.This place is great for casual meet-ups. If you’re looking for a coffee joint to sit and chat, other than the mainstream chains, this is a great place to visit!
Delicious Drinks, fun location, fun people! One of my go-to spots for coffee. PS - get the queen latte, its amazing!
Not only is this place overpriced but you get a side of attitude with your order. Next time I’ll just go to McDonald the only difference that it is cheap.
Best waffles in Raleigh and good coffee. ☕
I really love this coffee shop!! With one exception, there is a regular that comes in and sits at the “bar” and STARES at the girls that sit in there unapologetically. I have spoken to multiple women that come to Benelux to do work, and they all say that he makes them VERY uncomfortable. I loveeee the atmosphere of Benelux, I just wish this man would not disturb others and let us all enjoy it.
Came in here to study and was very well pleased with how relaxing the atmosphere is. There are electrical outlets everywhere to plug-in your laptop and such, great selection on the menu, great aesthetics. Definitely going to be my new study place :)
Its a nice little coffee shop which also serves waffles. The artwork which you can find on the left(with a bicycle and Benelux) is made out of coffee beans ! Thats innovative. The wifi is definitely fast. 750MB Garage band software took about 5 mins. It is definitely a nice place to catch up with friends. I wont be thrilled about their waffles. We ordered the popular one(Madame) and found the waffle to be a bit doughy. Their quiche was average. However, their coffees and chai lattes are really good. These guys do a good job on latte art.I would recommend their lattes and chai lattes. Their staff are amicable. I have been here twice and I didnt find it hard to find a place. Pooches are welcome which I find nice.Tip: If you are coming here for the first time, you will find parking if you take a left at lights( after you pass Benelux on the left that is) .. then take the first left. Drive for a bit and you will find covered parking.Good coffee and chai(s), good wifi, Nothing to rave about Waffles and covered basement parking
1st great experience and the food is great!
Go before 4pm to get the waffle. Their coffee is great.London fog too! Love!!!!
Got a latte and my friend had a regular drip coffee, both weren’t very good. We didn’t finish either and felt it left a hole in our stomachs. The cashier also wasn’t friendly at all, wouldn’t recommend.
They are “closed ” at 7 pm but the kitchen is closed at 4 pm bad services, bad experience! 0 stars
This place is so cute! I got a London fog and waffles with a friend and enjoyed every bite/sip. Definitely recommend this place to have a nice long chat with friends and enjoy yummy drinks!
Loved the atmosphere, coffee was amazing (oat milk latte), friendly staff, good food. Will be going back!
Another cool cafe! Theres a good variety of seating from a couch to a big table to a table for two. Despite all the seating, they are popular, and when theyre busy, there is nowhere to sit. Their drinks are good. They have all the basic flavors youre looking for. But where they really excel is their waffles and their many waffle toppings! Goes perfectly with the coffee :)
Cool but not hipster. Easy ambiance. Coffees, very good! Food was pretty good, but cinnamon roll too small and Dutch bar, too dry. Coffee and staff great tho.
It was good
I like this place a lot. I live pretty close and like to walk up on days I work from home to get out of the house. Coffee is always good and theres always pretty cozy vibes. Staff isnt always the most cheerful in comparison to other shops, but by no means bad service.
This is a neat little place. We have driven past it numerous times, though never actually decided to stop in; I was glad we finally did! The waffles arent extraordinary or anything, but theyre good, served well/look nice, and have some decent topping options. If you want a waffle, but dont want to go to Waffle House or Dennys, Id recommend this business. The latte I bought was also pretty good, and its simply just a cool place to sit around and chat, especially with the giant coffee bean mural. Parking around there can be a little tricky though, so keep that in mind; youll probably have to walk further than other places to get in.
Pros:Coffee was amazing! Free refills. Great selection of breakfast food. Ok Belgian waffles.Cons:If youre trying to do work at like 9-11a in the morning, it probably wont work! It gets loud here because lots of people come here to socialize. I didnt mind though and just moved to the library
Chai tea not so good.
Best store ever
I was in Raleigh for work and got this place recommend to me. I went twice. First time was decent. Second time the barista served me cold coffee and a worker ignored me when I went to ask her about it since she was too busy talking on her phone.
Which is better, the waffle or the coffee? My answer: why not both?! This cafe has that modern, industrial Raleigh feel to it, while upholding a relaxing environment to enjoy a coffee or nice breakfast / brunch in. Weather its a meat-up, a date, or simply a place to escape the library for a moment and study, Benelux is that place. ALSO, theyre dog friendly! So you can bring your best friend with you and while you enjoy a waffle, they can have a nice dog treat. 5/5 stars
Quaint and local. Good place to study, talk with friends and stay cozy while looking outside. Cool coffee bean art on the wall. My mocha was good. Not crazy about lighting.
This was my first time coming here and it wont be my last. I was looking for a good cool of coffee and a quiet place to study and I found both of them. The wall is covered with a mural made out of coffee beans. Its too cool. I wanted to take it home but, that probably wasnt going to happen. Even when the shop got busy, it was still quiet enough to read in peace. They have allot of seating to accommodate people for large parties and theyre pretty comfortable also. Thanks guys.
Great staff ! Go to this coffee shop everyday and every single barista has provided great service ! Liam is one of the best hopefully I can see more of him behind the bar .
Great local coffee shop with friendly staff. Perfect spot for on-site iPhone repair service. I meet a lot customers here, and everyone always enjoys the atmosphere and the coffee.
First time this morning. Amazing pumpkin spice and waffle!
Superb espresso. Barista Steele was cool and makes beautiful lattes and caps. I had the broccoli, onion, and cheese quiche, which was excellent and served with a delicious smokey salsa.
Good place to relax and unwind. I look forward to going back again. The prices are fair for the quality of food. Food is like a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
The coffee was great but my barista was not wearing a mask which was a little upsetting.
Really great drip coffee at a decent price, and delicious pastries and quiches. Didn’t try the waffle but that looks good too. Plenty of table seating and a few comfy chairs too, two restrooms, spacious and bright. Parking is free in the deck nearby connected to the Berkshire apartments (enter parking deck on Clark St).
Update: You can no longer bring in your dogs. :( I understand that this is not their fault and a health code issue, but it would be helpful if I could order from outside then or order ahead so I could pop inside and grab a coffee then continue my walk.I love this coffee shop, mostly because I can bring my dog inside with me. They even provide treats! I also really like their payment cards where you can pre-load a card and you can just give them your phone number. This is helpful for me when I want to just run in and have a quick coffee while Im walking my dog.
Coffee & food are always delicious! I recommend checking out the Belgian waffles. The other food options, like the quiche, are always good as well.
Nice little coffee shop in downtown Raleigh, relaxing atmosphere. I went there with my wife for coffee. Havent ordered anything else, but pastries looked really appetizing. Coffee itself was great and well made. So if you are in the area and want some coffee, dont go to Starbucks which is half a block a way but swing by Benelux Coffee. :)
This place is great. We went there a couple days ago and my daughter accidentally spilled a bunch of hot chocolate all over the place. There staff was quick to get us some towels to clean it up and they made another hot chocolate for her for free. There waffles are delicious as well.
I love this place! The ambiance is really cool in here and great for studying or reading. The waffles are out of this world I love them! More people need to know about this place because it’s really great.
The service was great.
House roast is delicious. Wonderful craft coffee shop. Great breakfast specials. Also a great place to sit outdoors on a nice day.
I was ready to give up on going to Benelux after multiple poorly made drinks and bad customer service. For instance, there were multiple times where I came in and the barista was clearly hungover, and would burn the milk and improperly pull espresso shots. All that changed when Steele started working there. I now go to Benelux at least once a day, sometimes two or three times because of the difference Steele has made. His experience and passion for coffee shows and that results in a top-notch coffee experience. I highly recommend going to Benelux and ordering a latte, cappuccino, Or any espresso drink for that matter. Props to the owner of Benelux for bringing on a special talent like Steele.
Great coffee with rich flavor and amazing waffles! The atmosphere is super chic and urban but with a nice downtown vibe. The staff is very friendly and helpful! This is a gem of Raleigh!
Benelux Coffee has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The decor is unique and interesting. The staff are great. Most of the coffees are made fresh to order. In the morning, they have pastries and other food items. Their prices are comparable to other coffee shops. Its a great place to have an informal business meeting.
Love their coffee and ambience. The interior is nice and the smell of coffee intoxicating. The wall mural of coffee beans is also interesting. Its a favorite spot for me and my friends to take a break from studies as its very near to NCSU campus.
Flavorful coffee. Locally owned and operated--team is friendly, professional, fun and attentive. Like the vibe, decor, people. Delicious Belgium waffles are a MUST for anyone who has never tasted them! Tasty, locally roasted coffee. Not too strong--that you feel the urge to add cream, just strong enough. My only 2 points of criticism: 1) inadequate seating despite lots of empty floor space (some of which is occupied by large coffee bean bags) and 2) counter top is too low for comfortable seating.
Awesome vibe, polite baristas
The Queen coffee is not to sweet and flavored perfectly with a nutty finish and a great not excessive amount of caffeine. This drink really complimented my Dutchman waffle (not too sweet either, soft and homemade with potato pulp). The environment is not too quiet and not too loud which gives way to a good amount of bustle to be productive. People are friendly and community tables are available with electrical outlets if you dont mind sitting next to/across from a stranger. Lots of bright light and sunlight from windows as well as lots of open space to not feel crowded. Whether you want to schmooze/socialize or get work done, this is a great place with free parking around the corner may I add.
I love to come here and do homework, it has a really chill vibe! the coffee isnt always consistent, but is usually fairly good. Liam Schofield is my favorite barista! He is always so friendly and I wish Id see him around the cameron village location on weekdays too!
I love funky coffee shops where I can go, drink my coffee, maybe have a bite to eat and read a book. This is BY FAR my favorite place in Raleigh. I try to go at least once a week. The coffee is great. Their peppermint mocha is one of the best Ive ever had.The quiche is fantastic, they have an assortment of fresh muffins and although i havent tried them yet, the waffles look pretty epic.Tons of space and dog friendly. They also have beer on tap if joining them in the evening. Do yourself a favor and check them out!
Their staff is so sweet. Great tasting chai lattes, and delicious cinnamon rolls. Love this place!
Love this place. The drinks the coffee bean mural and the atmosphere.
Adorable coffee shop with a fun and funky atmosphere. Love the coffee and good vibes.
It took a half an hour to get hot chocolate. I dont know what was in it, but had to throw it out and it wasnt cheap. Those who ordered food after me were eating while I waited.
Really nice coffee shop.
Few choices for drip coffee but all the syrups for your latté-osis. they have all the milk alternatives. always bright & positive, something about this place feels oddly uplifting. they have a couple of screens which had formula 1 once and tennis another time i went. last time i went they had one tap each of kombucha & cold brew. the outside seating is nice but seats are few.
Apparently there is a no laptop rule now. So, not only was I asked if I had seen the no laptop sign, but I was also questioned about whether or not I had purchased anything from them. (I did) There was a line of people while this man was reprimanding me, so theyve clearly got their priorities together. Needless to say, Benelux is a wonderful place to go if you want to feel very unwelcome! I certainly wont be returning.
Very good quality coffee and only few options of small breakfast sandwiches, the lack of food options and the lack of maintenance is the only downside of this place.(I edited their schedules by contacting them, I attached screenshot)
Good coffee, decent atmosphere. As a coffee geek its not one of those gormet places to hit (try Larema in rocky mount) but if youre a little more casual, this place makes great drinks. Probably great for small meetings. Better than what starbucks offers :)
Coffee and carb loading...what could be better?Locally roasted and freshly prepared coffee at a full service coffee bar. All I can say about the waffles is that they have truly perfected the art of waffling, waffle art, lets just waffle making. The savory sweet combinations like the speak and syrup... bacon entombed inside of a fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside pastry...need I say more?
Theres no pulling the punches. The coffee is just weak. If youre looking for a brew thats gonna wake up, go down the street to Jubala instead. However, I will say if you are looking for breakfast, I highly recommend the waffles. If Benelux were a waffle house instead of a coffee joint Id be giving them 4 to 5 stars instead. Also, I miss that they used to let dogs inside. While the coffee wasnt ever strong, I used to go there just because I could pick up a coffee with my puppy on our morning walk.
Nice location with great coffee, bakery items, and breakfast.
This place is a nice alternative to the venerable Cup-A-Joe. The seating can be a bit chaotic if you want to eat inside when its cold outside. That said, their waffles are tasty enough to eat with the plate in your lap.
