Justa-OK.Pasta: the carbonara was a little bland, needed a good bit of added salt and pepper for flavor. The bacon was executed well at least. The Alfredo spaghetti needed salt, but otherwise was flavorful at least. $22 for that carbonara though? It didnt feel justified.Dessert: excellent cheesecake. The chocolate ganache was slightly dry, but nice and dark. Go for the cheesecake over the ganache if you want cake here.Environment: a bit lack luster the Tuesday night we went. Hard seats. The inside had a bunch of supplies stacked up, but I understand that the pandemic means you have excess stock, and theres a need to put away many of the chairs due to capacity limits.. But do they need to be scattered around like that? Feels like the prices mean you pay for a better atmosphere, but it wasnt all there. Its a shame cause the place looks great and I love the open kitchen layout otherwise. The wait staff was very friendly and professional, the service was good.
The pasta was handmade but a little too al dente for our taste. The food was cold. The alfredo sauce was really good. The spaghetti noodles were good. The ravioli was mediocre. Great ice cream. The restaurant was really busy and we sat in the bar to eat. It is mostly outdoor dining there. The bartender was friendly and made a great Long Island Tea. The surrounding area was somewhat sketchy. Hard to find street parking in the area.
Stellar! We were waited on by the owner, Roland. The first thing that impressed me was he did not try to upsell us on the wine. We had a fine bottle of Barbera DAlba for $24. For appetizers my wife had a lovely gespacho and I had sauteed vegetables. Both were excellent. For an entree, I had the cheese ravioli with pesto sauce which was quite tasty, My wife had the wild mushroom lasagne in Alfredo sauce. It was incredible. I cannot say enough how delicious it was. I think it is because the owner does not skimp on the ingredients. For dessert we got the homemade pistachio ice cream; it was wonderful. But the real treat was the chocolate grenache cake. OMG!All this plus coffee and tip, for $102. Remarkable! We loved everything about Justa Pasta.
Excellent dining. The salmon was crisp and perfectly seasoned on the outside, juicy but not undercooked inside. The ravioli is incredible. Tagliatelle were al dente and the quality of the ingredients shone through. The alfredo could use some truffle oil in my opinion, but was hearty enough and with quality cheeses. I hope I can make it back sometime.
I was missing Italy, not anymore! 😋Just Pasta will make your heart sing. Start with the Spritz Veneziano or more commonly known as the Aperol Spritz. Then move on to the daily rotating menu of fresh pastas and specials. Leave room for luscious dessert. If you’re going to indulge do it here. And the Just Pasta team tres favoloso. We will be back!
We’ve been coming since they opened in the late 90s. They’ve always been good not I think the food is even better now. Their garlicky Caesar is the best in Portland. Their handmade pasta is great and they are masters of al dente. Tonight I had the chicken parmigiana and it was one of the best meals I’ve had this year.
Great heated outdoor seating and well-spaced tables for social distancing. Food is consistently awesome with specials each week and delicious scratch-made ice cream! Staff is so friendly and efficient. I go there once a week and am never disappointed.
Great place for a date. HEATED outdoor dining, albeit right next to some of the parking. However, the pasta was AMAZING and the drinks were well mixed. And its right on the edge of the restaurant section, so street parking isnt too hard to find.
Absolutely fantastic. The pasta was freshly made, and cooked just right. The flavors of the dishes were diverse and fun— old classics with new twists, but nothing too crazy. The cocktails were tasty, and even dessert was rich as all get out. Try the cheesecake!Staff were very kind and accommodating, and the atmosphere on the patio was really nice. Will be back in the future for sure!
The owners and staff are providing impeccable food in unhurried atmosphere. One if the best outdoor additions in Portland. High roof with high efficiency heat overhead. Comfortable regardless of the weather. Inside full bar and tables.
Delicious! Staff were friendly and the outdoor seating was great. We will definitely be back!
Best pasta ive had in a long time. That marinara sauce was so fresh and tasty, and you can actually buy the sauces! And the pastas! Ugh i wish i loved here so i could eat here more often. I highly recommend the cheesecake. Its so creamy and unique, unlike any other cheesecake ive ever had in my life.
Holy cow. The pasta here is FANTASTIC! The service is amazing and great wine selection. I’ve gone back multiple times. Highly recommend.
Stopped by to pickup dinner (lamb /w feta lasagna) and it was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back.
I dined in the bar and everyone Ive encountered gave great service. Plus the drinks and food was absolutely amazing and well worth the asking price. Definitely a place to check out!
These folks have truly pivoted to working in the most difficult circumstances but we’re resilient and muscled through to creating the most terrific outdoor space. Beyond this - the food is fresh, delicious and consistently excellent. The cheesecake- well second to none!
Normally I would rate Justa Pasta 4 or 5 in that we have been here several times in the past and enjoyed it but 2 issues last night needs to be pointed out. First is having tables with holes on the eating surface allows dipping oil and sauces to fall through the holes and soils clothing. I ended up with several spots on my pants. Secondly, the chili oil sauce on the ravioli was so hot that I nearly choked from coughing. I sent it back and I never waste food. Turn down the heat to make it more balanced. I wont order it again.
We have been here before when they were really busy and we decided to give them another try to see if the experience would be better. Well, it was worse… We called ahead to see what the wait time was like and we were told no wait. We arrived and were told that it was a fifteen minute wait now and we were first on the list. We asked if we could wait in the bar and get a drink, which we did. Fifteen minutes pass and we are still waiting for a table. Twenty minutes passes… still waiting. After thirty minutes we asked our bartender to see what was going on. They informed us that we were third on the list and it would probably be another ten to fifteen minutes; in total we waited almost an hour for a table. We were seated and got our meals. My boyfriend got clams and found a rock in them…(normal) we informed the owner and he took the rock, said nothing and walked away visibly upset. The waitress came back and was rude and said she would comp the meal. We said we did not want that, just wanted them to know.Over all worst dining experience. We understand that restaurants are understaffed and people are excited to get out but come on… the only person at that restaurant who had any customer service skills was our bartender Dylan… go Dylan!
Amazing! We tried several dishes as a group of 4, and all were unique and delicious. The vibe was a little more casual than we had thought (order at the counter), but service was friendly and fast throughout our evening, and our food was hot and fresh; we even got to watch it being made from the counter. I will absolutely be back to try the rest of the menu!
Wonderful food and service. Great and speedy staff, nice environment, reasonable price and balanced fresh meals. Best Italian around.
The food and wine was very good - halibut, pesto pasta.......... but the service was the worst we’ve had in a very long time. Our server brought our food, and then she never came back, not once. Not to ask how it was or offer more wine or dessert. She just ditched us.
Had family dinner. Wonderful italian food. Inside was a bit industrial not real cozy. However great service. Not cheap.
The chicken lasagna was so damn good and oddly the veggie/mushroom lasagna was even better! Awesome outdoor seating area too!
One of my favorites. Amazing fresh pasta. Simple and delicious. Great Italian wine choices. Recently got carryout for my anniversary and it was much appreciated by the hubby. Dont forget to splurge and get a slice of cheesecake.
Ashamed to admit that I have lived across the street from Justa Pasta for a year before trying it. I wish I hadnt waited so long.Theyve done an amazing job with their outdoor seating (covered, well-lit, spaced out, heated). We waited for a table while drinking great cocktails.Once seated, we ordered two different daily specials and each were outstanding. Our waiter recommended a great (and somehow only $22) bottle of wine. Turns out he is also the owner. We took another bottle of wine to go (20% off for to-go!) and well definitely back soon.
It was my grandmothers birthday, they made her feel very special. Plates were perfectly senior sized. Wine was reasonably priced. Server was friendly (a little awkward). Bread is made FRESH pasta was made FRESH. DELICIOUS WOULD RECOMMEND.
Wow! Absolutely floored by this place. The chicken piccata was the best Ive ever had--literally! I also ordered a kale caesar salad which was delicious. On both, the presentation was beautiful. You can taste the quality of the ingredients they use. The staff members that waited on me were kind, quick, and attentive. I have no idea how I didnt know about this place, and just happened by it by chance today, but I have a feeling it will be a favorite spot for me very soon. Locals obviously know its a treasure, they were flocking as soon as the restaurant opened. Thank you for a truly knocking my socks off Justa Pasta!
The only downside to this place is that the portions were too small for such good tasting food. Please visit this place if you have a sliver of love for pasta
I waited a very long time before being greeted at my table. The waitress didn’t check back once after they dropped the meal so I couldn’t order a drink. Overall a bad experience.
As always, great food, excellent service.
How did we not know about this little gem of a restaurant? Its tucked away in a corner of the Pearl. The parking lot got turned into outdoor seating but I will say we really enjoyed sitting outside here. Tables are plenty spread apart but every sediment are limited on seating. You can call ahead for a reservation though so at least you wont be forced to go there in person just to put yourself on a list with a 45 min wait. I dont believe they are allowing indoor seating here at this time but anyways, lets get down to the real stuff. For drinks they they are all about the wine here but do offer like 3 beers but all bottled. I went with the hand made 3 cheese ravioli marinara and it was absolutely delicious! Even though it was pasta it wasnt heavy feeling. The serving portions were perfect. Pricing was decent too considering the great quality you were receiving.Service was great. They came around to touch base with the table just enough to be considered attentive without being annoying. I know thats a fine line and different strokes for different folks but for us they were spot on.
Monday Apr 12 2021 We had the chinook salmon with angel hair and it was possibly the best dish that they ever made and we have been enjoying their meals for 15 years. Divine, perfect, memorable
Justapasta was one of those restaurants where you go on an evening stroll and discover this wonderful eating joint in the neighborhood tucked away in one of the streets. From a taste perspective the food was excellent. The restaurant makes its own pasta inhouse and it is one of the best in Portland. The pesto, the marinara as well as the Alfredo were all freshly made... and all tasted really good (advantage of going with friends). The chicken parmesan was also very good. I would give full marks to Justa pasta as far as taste goes. The presentation of the dishes were fine/okay.... nothing to rave about...but the taste compensates for any lack of presentation.Justapasta has created a very good outdoor seating space with heaters as well as sun shades and it makes for a pleasant outdoor setting. From an Ambience perspective, its much better than most of the Portland restaurant outdoor seating spaces. (After/ during pandemic).Service is something that they could improve upon. The wait to get a table was a little long and unfortunately one has to wait in the pavement with no water or any other refreshments. The restaurant seemed a little rushed... probably due to labor issues. The food arrived at a reasonable time. The waiter checked on us a couple of times.... but could have been a little more attentive to the needs.Overall Id highly recommend the restaurant. Its the kind of place one would go for a hearty well cooked Italian dinner which tasted good and for a fun time with friends. There is always room for improvement..... but thats for next time.
Excellent service and amazing food, exceeded my expectations! The alfredo with tagliatelle was superb! Their outdoor seating area is really well done with good distancing and a quality heating system. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Portland.
Weve been to Justa Pasta Co. a number of times and this is one of the best destinations in PDX for great Italian food staples in a relaxed setting. I like their MO of letting you pick out a bottle of wine, from a very decent selection of Italian and local wines, before ordering your food at a counter - of the menu or the daily specials. I find their food very good and consistent but personally I like their heavier (cream) based pasta dishes the best.
Justa pasta is tasty, affordable and addicting! That magnificent German chocolate cake and home made ice cream will be in your dreams!
Went to the place with a friend as she really loves the food here. She was right. Wonderful food, simple menu and great cheesecake!
Staff was fantastic. Food was fresh and very good.
Best homemade pasta in the city. The lasagne is my favorite, authentic Italian style comfort food, with fresh vegetarian and meat varieties every day. The cheesecake has me over the moon! And the people are genuine and sweet. I recommend it all the time.
Besides great food, they also make fresh pasta that you can take home and make yourself. Besides various different shapes and types of pasta, they also make sheets of pasta that you can run through your own pasta machine to make thinner for making lasagna or into spaghetti or fettuccine. Delicious pasta, super friendly service. Theyre almost done building a large outdoor deck with heaters to allow more people to eat on premise and be covid safe. Check it out.
Great place for simple Italian fare. Every single thing we ordered was delicious and portioned appropriately. The Kale Caesar Salad, Spaghetti and Meatballs and Caramelized Onion Ravioli were all perfect. Would definitely recommend (and we have already!)
Friendly, delicious, as always, outdoor seating comfortable
Super fire. small cozy place so might have to wait before seated, but definitely worth it. dishes are underpriced heavily, this place is lowkey amazing
Justa Pastas new outdoor seating is wonderful. Covid safety protocols include menus online via QR code/website, spaced out tables, excellent air ventilation (beautiful covered roofing structure with no walls), heating units, contactless payment, employees wearing masks, safety information well displayed, clean bathrooms, easy takeout option available as well as outdoor dining.Besides that, the food and quality of service is excellent as always.
Best cheesecake I have ever had! I love that you can also buy the pasta and sauce to go and make at home. I go here frequently and even had my wedding rehearsal dinner here :)
We love Justa Pasta so much, not just for the food, but the staff and the atmosphere! It is a special gem. We always feel incredibly welcome, like we are joining friends at dinner in their home. Our favorite thing to order is one of the homemade pastas (tagliatelle is our favorite when available) with pesto and shrimp. Oh man, its so good! And the kale Caesar is amazing! My sisters and parents have all come to visit Portland separately, each with a visit to Justa! They all still mention their cravings for JP often!
The food is delicious, simple, and fresh. The pasta is always cooked perfectly and the Alfredo sauce is the best I have ever had. Also, the service is usually fast. The negatives would have to be that I would prefer a little more sauce because if you order takeout a good amount is absorbed by the pasta and I don’t care for the desserts.
Great house made pasta and the bolognese sauce was excellent.
I love their lasagna and the cheesecake... and just about everything in the menu.
Really amazing food and the nicest people. Please please please keep table service after the pandemic is over instead of going back to cafeteria style. We so love you!
Great classic italian dishes. Friendly staff that care about customer experience . Love the chicken parm and kale Caesar. Good date night spot (even if date night is at home).
Just had an opportunity to sample a few amazing menu items at Justa Pasta: The chicken sausage lasagna, the the toasted chicken panini, and the homemade pistachio ice cream. All were amazing, and Roland just built a beautiful heated roof over the al fresco eating area right out front, so we were very comfortable on a cool and breezy day. The staff are angelic at this venerable neighborhood eatery. I cant recommend it highly enough. Magnifico!
Good location for Italian food. There was fast, efficient, and courteous service. It has a great atmosphere. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
Best-spinach-salad-ever!
Stumbled across this gem tonight. Amazing staff and delicious food. We had the lamb, spinach, and feta ravioli as well as the three cheese ravioli, both with the alfredo sauce. Cant wait to go back and try more!
Not a bad experience but not worth the price point. Sauce on both our chicken parm and ravioli was very watery which was a huge disappointment. Service felt slow as well. It’s fine Italian food and good portions, but doesn’t feel worth the price point when Grassa is a few blocks away and much better
Delicious and high quality. I love the fettuccine Alfredo! The cheesecake is the best I’ve ever tried!
The food was really delicious!!!
BEST pasta I’ve ever had outside of Italy hands down. Just happened to be passing by. Absolutely wonderful. I had the pesto with tagliatelle (spelling error?) and it was out of this world. Very kind waiter too!
Food is excellent most of the time. We travel a lot and experience foods throughout many metro cities and still deemed Just Pasta to be one of the best. With that said the service has always been mediocre at best. Weve looked past this due to the food being so good. However this past couple of times the food has been bland and not fresh tasting. Our last visit was terrible. I asked if they had an item menu available and received an extremely abrupt rude toned NO! If the food is great I can ignore the lack of customer care and or appreciation but honestly every time we have been here its like this and every time we have brought guest they too have made comments about the service! I dont think we will return at this point. Customer care is definitely apart of the restaurant business model and an area of improvement needed here.
Kale Cesar and tagliatelle with garlic chili oil hits the spot every time
I love this spot- great fresh affordable italian food! Great service too!
Fresh homemade pastas in brilliant sauces. Lasagna, ravioli, noodles. Italian sausage, mussels. Specials and mix-n-match noodles and sauce. High-end Italian without the fuss of a haughty reservations required establishment. Quality dishes, friendly and caring service in a casual setting. Know before you go: order and pay before you sit down. Water is self-service. Bread and olive oil dip to get you started. Quick service. And wine. This part of trendy third is usually not too bad for street parking. There are a few spots in front of the restaurant.
COVID era review: outdoor distanced seating was good, ambiance was okay but could be improved, food was simple and tasty, always thankful for the workers though a little more attentiveness would have been welcomed.
Pastas made from a constantly rotating menu, and outstanding wine selection. Ive been coming here for years. Recently had a lasagna with capers that they were running for special, and it knocked my socks off. Service is great, great food, outstanding Caesar salad. My girlfriend practically lives of their kale salad.
The best fresh noodles at a great price in town. Plus you can get fresh pasta and amazing ravioli too!
Doesnt update their google menu. Check the website first.
If I was writing this place just on food it would be at 2. Mediocre chewy pasta served cold with Tangy Tomato Sauce. The reason Im giving it a one-star is because it doesnt deserve the 4.7 start reading it has now. The top thats all off the owner is rude, pushy and abrasive. This guy ran around their West Front looking lost I never even smile the once while dealing with us . Even though the law states that you do not have to wear a mask while seated at a dining table, this jackwad requested that we wear a mask unless we were actually raising a fork with food on it to our mouths. And to top it all off oh, he couldnt even serve a cold drink. Avoid this clam stand with all passion
My favorite Italian restaurant in Portland. The pasta is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is wonderful. I also really appreciate the fact that you order and pay before you sit. You get to enjoy your food, drink, and company, and just leave when youre ready. I personally think it makes the dining experience much more enjoyable and seamless.
Great food and great service
We have eaten here for years and NEVER had a bad meal. Great friendly staff, clean, all around perfect.
Delicious pasta and salad
The pasta was delicious, excellent service, wine was great, and suggestions were on point.
Absolutely love the butternut squash ravioli with brown butter and sage.
The hand made pasta is life-changing! Wonderful staff, theyre celebrating 22 years of business! Id highly recommend this place!!
This is seriously my favorite place in Portland! Ive been coming here for 2 years now and their service and food is amazing every single time. They have the best lasagna I have ever tasted and their cakes are simply put, perfect! I love the employees and the atmosphere, its the perfect place for a date.
Justa Pasta is pretty old school Portland institution. Nice simple pasta, decent prices for the NW
Extra ordinary pasta place. I could feel like I was in Europe.I tried chicken risotto and it was really great. Also tried lasagna and it was okay.Tiramitsu was great. I wanted to try with coffee but I heard the coffee here was not so good.
This is another Portland staple, its one of my go-to places here in Portland. Great pasta, great salads, and a great wine selection. This is the embodiment of elevated comfort food. Highly recommended
Great place to eat
I come here so often with my boyfriend the cooks and waiters all know me and our order. Their food is tasty and the place is always clean and friendly.
Great cozy little restaurant. Good prices and interesting specials every day. Rolands food has been consistently good for over 20 years. For a first time diner I suggest getting the ravioli, its what it all started with.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Disagree. Portions are ample. They also provide a wonderful variety of really fresh bread with pasta and/or meal. They deserve a 20% gratuity.
Justa Pasta is a solid spot for homemade pasta. Ive been for lunch many times and the counter service is always quick and friendly. The flavors are occasionally a little bland, or maybe my expectations of spicy sausage are a little high. Still, the meals are very well plated and the portion sizes are very reasonable for the price.
Food is fresh, simple, and delicious! Perfect for a date night. Get there early on date nights, the line piles up quick. This goodness is worth every cent
I have likely eaten at Justa Pasta once a week for the last 10 years. My wife has been introduced, my kids, new friends. But Roland and his team have largely stayed unchanged. Welcoming, consistent, delicious. Its so nice to have a neighborhood joint that cares about their product and their customer so much. Heres to the next 10 years!
