I have been here several times and always get treated well by Mike. They have some really good deals on bullion too. I keep an eye on the deals page of their website several times a day. I recently went and checked out 5 other coin shops on the east side of town and in Vancouver and none of them had the deals that this shop has. If you dont want to get ripped off by high premiums, then this is the place to go!

Ive been coming in to PPM&C for about 6 months now, when my finances allow me the luxury to do so. I have been to multiple other coin shops in town and around the Portland metro area, and PPM&C by far has the best prices and customer service around. This morning, I bought some generic silver bullion to add to my stack and when I got home, it appeared as though one of the rounds was flaking like it was silver plated. I never once doubted their integrity (even if it was fake, honest oversights can happen), but brought it in and despite it being busy and the first day back after their vacation, they had no problem throwing it on the Sigma tester and showing me it was .999 fine. Ive just returned from my first trip to Portland precious metals and coins. I had a couple of old gold krugerrands I wanted to sell. I was prepared for some sort of sleazy attempt to try to undersell me or otherwise rip me off in some way but instead I got an extremely fair price with no nonsense. A nice shop with interesting coins on display and two very friendly gentlemen who provided excellent service. This is my new go to for bullion coins. Excellent shop.

This establishment offered me the absolute best prices for my bullion and coinage that I was forced to sell prematurely. As my needs seem to be outweighing my gains, I will have to go back here to cash in at a loss. However, it is better than nothing and their bids are still more fair than a lot of coin places Ive been in for certain! This establishment rocks! Fairness and honesty are paramount here.

They have a great selection of everything and are very helpful no matter what you are looking for. I definitely recommend this shop above all others. We took a birds nest of a coin collection in to get it appraised and were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and professionally he sorted out the wheat from the shaft and gave commentary during the process, so we knew the reason for the appraisal values. We highly recommend Portland Precious Metals and Coins to anyone who is looking for a reputable, professional experience when dealing with coins or, I guess he deals in other stuff too.

There was no mention of the fact they are closed till August 12th when I did a web search for coin dealers in my area that should definitely be one of the first thing that comes up!

I have visited all of the coin shops in the PDX/metro/tri-county area and this store is the best for several reasons.As for security, theyve taken precautions that no other store has taken (from what Ive seen) to ensure the safety of their customers. This is the only place I would go to for large cash/estate transactions.Their premiums (esp on gold + silver eagles) have consistently been lower than their local competitors. Best part is that PPM is only 10-15 minutes away from all of them (so its always worth a quick drive to see if they have what youre looking for if youre thinking about buying gold/something expensive).When selling coins, this store has offered the best returns. They are transparent with their bids and are more than happy to educate you for the reasons behind their valuations (I value coins based on sold ebay comparisons, for what its worth).The selection can be limited, but thats largely because things come and go throughout the day, often in a blink of an eye. On the flip side, inventory can be drastically different from day to day so I try to pop in whenever I can. Theres always something different/cool each time I visit.Collectors tip: dont be afraid to askem if theyve got any cool pieces hiding in the back! They might have exactly what you are looking for if you specify, even if its not in the front display.

What a find! Came in with a whole box of different coins and needed advice and a trusted place for sale. Mike took very much time for me, answering all my questions and telling me some interesting stuff on coin history and facts on some of the older coins I had brought in. I have absolutely no experience or knowledge about coins and, as you can imagine, I was very NERVOUS about finding the right coin shop. I needed to liquidate my deceased father-in-laws collection. Needless to say, yesterday I spent a large amount of time researching and reading reviews of ALL the shops in the Portland area. I WAS so SCARED I’d pick someone who would rush me or try to rip me off. Well the exact opposite happened today! Thankfully I picked the right place! Wow... what a nice experience! The owner, Mike, spent a considerable amount of time with me and I NEVER felt pressured or rushed!! I had a very relaxed vibe with him and he gives you the sense that he cares a lot about his business and giving great customer satisfaction. I have absolutely NO REGRETS visiting his shop today! These guys are great! I have been to almost all local coin shops in the area and this is where I choose buy my precious metals. They are very helpful, friendly and honest. Just bought a few 5 oz ATB quarters at $3 over spot from them (killer deal).

I have been in Portland my whole life and dealt with just about every coin dealer in town. After my experience with Portland Precious Metals they have earned all of my business. Mike knows his stuff and is a serves as a great numismatic resource. I send a good amount of coins to PCGS for grading and he is always very honest about which he thinks will make the grade and send and which not. His rates for arranging grading are the best around. Mike’s honesty and patience are a breath of fresh air in an industry that isn’t particularly known for those traits. Mike has earned my business but more importantly he has earned my trust.

I don’t quite get all the great reviews.It’s in a bad neighborhood, the owner is standoffish at best, premiums are some of the highest in town.But they do have a nice selection, particularly in gold pieces under an oz.Ok place to sell, since they charge so much they can buy higher.

I started stacking silver a few months ago and this was the first bullion/coin store I visited. Mike and Mike have been simply excellent. Although I primarily deal with the shorter of the two Mikes, both are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and patient especially for a new stacker. They even hand pour their own silver bars, the Pour’dland brand!I played the smart consumer and shopped around at other stores in the area to sample the service and product but found this store has everything I want and need.Portland Precious is my home. Simply dont need to go anywhere else.

Amazing experience! I live out of town and everyone was sold out of silver and gold...and so called up PPM to ask about Silver and Gold prices and asked for a quote. I then asked if they could hold on to them and wait for me to drive down to Portland to pick them up(which they did). When I arrived, I picked up the Silver that was in stock and placed an order for Gold to be shipped to my house. They people there were really helpful and I did not feel pressured into making any purchase I was not comfortable with. Not long afterwards(considering the huge shortage of gold and silver) I received my beautiful Aussie Kangaroos in the mail and could not be happier. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone thinking of buying precious metals.

These guys are awesome! First off, I am all about unique, one-of-a-kind, collectibles so when I began to invest in gold and silver and stumbled across Pour’dland, I had to have some of the beautiful iridescent silver bars poured in the shape of Oregon. I saw that Portland Precious Metals carries them but didn’t realize until I went in the store that they ARE also Pour’dland. Could not have been more inviting and walked me through their process as well as created multiple custom pours for me, all with the amazing rainbow toned coloring that makes each one unique. Owner offered me 2 cents for an 1877 Indian penny saying that he sold them for 3 cents. Its worth a minimum of $500. Glad I didnt sell anything to him.I do not have the wrong place. I brought my coin collection in during your lunch and told you to go ahead and eat as I was in no hurry. Your assistant started separating coins and I told him about the vdb penny and that I couldnt read the dates anymore. You came in from the back, looked over what was on the counter and made your offer of 2 cents.And dont threaten me. Just go for it.
