Great service, kind personnel, and clean work! 10 stars!

I had a decent experience with Cumberland Avenue Garage. The only con was a miscommunication, as they quoted ~$115 for an important repair, revised it to ~$450 for that repair and an additional one, then said the additional repair wasnt needed, and the final bill came to ~$225. I called and they explained the charges to me (a person who was out also gave me a call to ask if the issue had been resolved). I appreciated their willingness to discuss the situation and that they did not do the additional repair after determining that it was not needed.

Can’t say enough good things about these guys. Honest, straightforward and reliable.

These guys do top quality work. They go out of their way to explain the expenses and work they are doing. I always enjoyed going in and talking with staff. I can honestly say, Ive never liked an auto garage more.

I’ve been going to these guys for a few years now for minor repairs and a couple more time consuming ones. They are always so friendly on the phone. I always feel like I’m bothering people at other shops or they don’t have time to answer questions, but Cumberland ave garage always takes the time to explain things and give me options. I trust them to do a great job at reasonable price. And as someone who doesn’t know a thing about cars, I can trust they’re not going to rip me off. Definitely recommend!

It was great. I was qouted at VIP around 70 or so bucks to change a front headlight. These guys did for 29, which included labor and the part. They were quick too. I was in and out faster than a jack rabbit on a grill on a hot summers day in the middle of July.

The Cumberland Avenue team has been keeping my 23 year old car roadworthy since it was a 5 year old car.

I came here because reviews said they were honest. Get a second opinion before getting work done here. They were going to charge me $600 for brake work. I took it to my dealership and they found nothing wrong. Even if something was wrong with my brakes, $600 is not a fair price.

Honest AF. Cheap? No. EXCELLENT AND HONEST, yes! I worked with a couple other mechanics before coming here and will never go anywhere else again. I trust them and appreciate their patience with my lack of car knowledge.

The folks at Cumberland Ave Garage are great! They are knowledgeable and have the patience to explain what is wrong with your vehicle and what they have to do to fix it. What I have liked best is that, if possible, they give you options that may save you a few bucks. Great diagnostic skills too. Highly recommend.

Great shop and wonderful people! We stopped on a road trip from Michigan and the crew at the shop had us back up and running in no time! Very reasonable prices too. 10/10 would break down in their neck of the woods again!

Came for a second opinion after my spidey-senses went into overdrive on the back of a visit to my cars dealership. I figured the service here would be great because of its longevity, but I got to see it first-hand. They have a repeat customer.

I was in Portland during the post Christmas cold snap. My sister had died there unexpectedly and I had to deal with all painful stuff that entailed. It was a difficult time, to say the least. While I was there, one of the back wheels on my truck seized up. I was getting estimates of a week and a half before other garages could get to it! Even though they were slammed with a parking lot completely full of cars that needed work, Salem at Cumberland squeezed me in and the guys there got me running overnight! AND gave me a car to use while they did the work! Salem, the woman at the desk was so nice to me. I wish I either lived there or they were here in Jersey, where I live. In a very difficult time, they came though big time. Not only that, but several weeks later, I got a call from Salem checking on the work and if I was satisfied! COME ON!!!! Who does that? I will never forget how these good folks made a very difficult time a lot less difficult. Thanks to all at Cumberland Garage... and USE THEM!!!!

Salem and team did an amazing job! They quickly and efficiently serviced my vehicle on short notice, all the while communicating to me at each step. I was even provided tips on light maintenance I can do at home, to keep my car running and out of the shop.I will definitely be taking my car back for future check-ups and issues!

Easily the best garage Ive ever been to. They take the time to explain your options, the cost... everything. I never thought one of my favorite places would be a garage but it is. Very trustworthy people.

The team at Cumberland Avenue Garage is very good at what they do. They are very upfront and friendly. I get our 4 cars serviced there and they each have over 100,000 miles so there is a fair amount work involved.Be sure to say hi to Memphis, the V.P of Customer Service who sleeps behind the counter. Oh, hes a dog.

I was in Portland for a couple of days on vacation. Only a couple of hours into my stay, I managed to pop a tire. I frantically Googled where I could bring my car and stumbled on Cumberland Ave. Garage. I got the car to them and within 20 minutes my tire was plugged and I was only charged $20 for the fix. It was honestly the best service I could have ever asked for. I highly recommend this garage and now I know that if I ever wind up in the Portland area again I know who to call.

Traveling through Portland on our way back to Iowa and the drivers window broke in the down position. This place was close to the interstate and we stopped by to see if they could fix it. The very nice gentleman there got us going within a half hour and at a reasonable price. Thanks again for getting us back on the road.

Great people and great service! I had a control arm that needed to be replaced and they suggested it might be covered under a recall, so they had me check that first before going ahead. When they did end up doing the repair, it came in under budget!

This is a garage that I really want to like, but just cant recommend after two bad experiences several years apart.FWIW The people are nice and its right in the neighborhood (shop local, everyone), and there were even plenty of times I took cars here without complaint but two separate incidences have left me feeling burned by CAG.Incident 1: I took my 2008 Subaru Impreza in when it was getting near 75k mi for a transmission/diff fluid exchange. They assured me that they would use OEM fluid. When I got the car back, it was shifting terribly and the steering bound up. I took it back and they added an additive to the transmission fluid to smooth it out. The car was never the same again, always shifting/steering rough even after the additive. This was such a frustrating experience that I did not return for 3 years.Incident 2: My 2010 Honda Civic had a wicked vibration at highway speeds. I figured I might as well give CAG another shot. They kept the car for nearly a week trying to figure it out. In the end it was a tire that had an issue and needed replacement: they charged me $250 for this. The bill was like, 2.5+hrs of head scratching time @ $70/hr + one cheap tire. Most mechanics would be embarrassed to bill like that for a single tire change.In the end the cost is a lost customer, but I am sure they dont care as theyre always super busy and have plenty of fans.

Anybody who drops their vehicle off to have work done only hopes for the service that the team at Cumberland Ave Garage offers. Sounds a little cheesy but it is true. I live in Midcoast Maine and ended up in a dire situation near Portland. My friends suggested Cumberland Ave Garage after having been to several other shops up and down the coast over the past 20 years they have settled there for all their Toyota and Subaru work.I walk away feeling like I have a high tech vehicle and I am a preferred customer.
