I have been repairing cars for 30 years. I decided I was getting too old to perform these tasks, so I brought my car in for front-end work. Before bringing the car in, I inspected all front-end parts, but it can be exceedingly difficult without the proper equipment. However, I determined with 100% certainty that the lower ball joints needed to be replaced. After Merlin inspected the car, I received a call, and they informed me, no, no, no, the problem you are describing is not your lower ball joints. What you need are struts. I agreed to the replacement and then received another call well, you have new struts, but it didnt solve the problem. We want to replace all front-end parts. I told them no and had them perform an alignment since I wasnt sure how long it would be before I could complete the repairs myself. When I picked up the car, the steering wheel was crooked, and the car did not track straight. At this point, I decided to cut my losses and deemed this shop completely incompetent. I decided to perform the repairs myself. I completed a more thorough inspection and found what was causing the issue. The noise was coming from the sway bar links, which cost $25 each and are very easy to replace. I replaced the sway bar links and also replaced the lower ball joints because I knew they were bad. Once I had the ball joints out of the car, they were so loose I would consider them borderline dangerous. Then I had the car aligned at another shop, and the steering is perfect now.Incompetent or crooks, you decide.

Took in for starter replacement and the staff was very helpful and kind. Found an issue that another shop did not do correctly helped explain what was wrong in detail so that I could go back to original shop to get issue fixed. I will be bringing all my business here going forward.

I love a mechanic who tells you when you really dont need something done. These guys have done a couple big repairs for us and several smaller ones - all turned out great.

Dropped off my car for an unscheduled oil change and they had it ready for pickup in about an hour. Discovered that theyll change your oil for dirt cheap if you bring your own oil and filter like i prefer to do.

These guys are amazing! We have on 2 separate occasions had wonderful experiences with this crew. Jason, Kurt and Jim are honest and not trying to repair more than what is needed on our car. Other shops try to upsell and repair things that dont need repair. This Merlin shop always leaves us with a confident feeling that only what needs to be fixed is fixed.

These guys are pretty good. I live in the neighborhood behind them and they really helped me out. They didnt have the wipers I wanted, they had them for me before I left. Got my oil changed and Im happy. A little expensive but for convenience and the ability to push my car over to them if needed is great!

As a young woman I usually feel like Im being tricked into buying things for my car that I dont really need - But the guys here are totally upfront and honest. I have a 2012 Mustang that had a bolt rattle loose on the exhaust, and I couldnt get to it in my garage on jackstands. Brought it here and they took care of it. Very professional, nice, and got it done in a timely fashion. I also like how they take extra care with cars, they lined the seat with plastic, had a second tech guiding the car into the stall, overall you can tell these guys take pride in what they do and respect peoples cars and time. Definitely recommend them.

Everyone that works here is very honest. They tell you exactly what is needed for your car. Sometimes its overwhelming to hear all the things needed to fix my vehicle but they did a really good job explaining what was urgent and what could wait. I will definitely recommend everyone I know to bring their vehicles here!

DO YOURSELVES ALL A FAVOR AND DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS INCOMPETENT SHOP!The absolute worst auto repair shop in all of Will County for sure! Very incompetent mechanics, do not know what they are doing whatsoever! They make several attempts at repairs and cannot get it right to save their lives! Had to write and call to their corporate offices located in St. Charles several times to speak to a woman who did nothing except make excuses for the lies that Jason, the Owner told her regarding my previous 6 complaints.

Phoned ahead and Mike got me right in. Solid service and a great price for a full synthetic oil change. Highly recommended.

Got here at 930am and was told 1 hour wait. No problem. However, it is now 12:45 and my car hasnt been looked at. I understand wait times are estimates but I have seen many people come and go even though I was next. Disappointed in the service.

I needed an oil change and figured Id give Merlin a try. First of all, it took an hour to change my oil. Next comes the humorous part: The manager pulls me out to tell my that my coil springs are broken. So I play along and tell him that I know my coil spring is broken and that my dad is a mechanic (well, didnt lie about my dad being a mechanic.) His face falls and then contorts into a look of confusion. Thats when I knew he was lying to me. He proceeded to ring me out and said nothing to me after that. Poor bastard thought hed get away with convincing me that I needed $800 of unnecessary work. I got home and had my dad check the spring to verify what I already knew, and low and behold..GASP...the spring isnt broken. Mr. Manager, never underestimate your customers auto knowledge, especially your young, female customers.
