For artists of every level and medium!! Theres not enough I can say about this place- if Im comparing it to Michaels? Its as if an actual artist went into Michaels and similar big box stores and PAINSTAKINGLY picked out all the stuff thats ACTUALLY worth it.Then! They put it all in one store! I could give it 4stars for the prices- but even those arent that bad for the quality and individuality of the products. This is a must see for yourself. Period. 🖌️🎨

Always a treat coming here. This is a local version of a store like Michaels. Youll be able to find anything craft related here, as well as some gift items. There is a heavy focus on painting supplies, but there are options for just about everything. Smaller selections but good quality and great prices.

This place is MASSIVE, has a wide range of supplies and the staff is super helpful!

The selection is incredible - the interior was far larger than I expected. Theres everything from paint and pencils to crafts and hobby supplies. I was pleased by their selection of writing utensils (e.g. calligraphy and pens). The staff was friendly and prices fair. Finally, the interior design was bright and enthusiastic even if the aisles are a bit small and layout unusual.

Colored pencil selection was a little low but maybe they will restock soon. Otherwise they have an excellent selection.

They also sell art cards, pens, childrens art supplies & more.My favorite place to shop for art materials because the staff are artists, too, and the company is employee owned. They give discounts if you are teaching or taking a class.

On June 2nd I visited Artist and Craftsmen Supply with my friend who was told he could not enter the store without a cloth mask despite his legal proof of medical exemption. Pennsylvania state mask mandates clearly state that people with respiratory complications are exempt from face covering restrictions and he offered to show paperwork from his doctor’s office confirming these complications. He was in no way violating any mandate. While a store may indeed decide who can enter, it is also a clear act of medical discrimination that itself disregards the parameters of the governor’s mandate. He offered to wear a plastic face shield and was told that this would not suffice to gain entry. We left the store and found a different art store where the workers were understanding of his exemption despite their initial and earnest request for him to wear a mask. We will never be returning to Artist and Craftsmen Supply after their mishandling of this straightforward issue.

This shop does not have the best prices. Blick Art store offers lower prices on the same materials, and is only a short distance away from A&C supply. If you can afford to wait, order online; if you can’t, go to Blick in shadyside.

I think the store and space is wonderful. BUT, even in crazy times you can be helpful and informative with out being rude about where ur standing and what ur touching. Sucks having to shop on eggshells.... And I love supporting local shops. Instead of the obvious !!!!

I became a fan of this company back in New York. Theres a great selection quality materials, the store is easy to navigate and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are a working artist in the area, this should be your first stop before heading to Blick or Hobby Lobby.

Lots of good supplies here. Some quite unique. a vast selection of markers, paints, paper and framing materials. They even have Montana spray paints with a diverse selection of caps. Everything is very reasonably priced. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Nice supplies but boy, they rush you out if you’re there at 6. Raced over there after work and was quickly asked to be “escorted to the cash register.” I totally respect closing hours but after driving quickly for 30 minutes to get there in time, and in this crazy environment where small businesses are suffering, I was surprised at the attitude and felt compelled to keep apologizing. Beautiful store, wonderful employees, and more art supplies than I could ever dream of owning. The store is very close to my work and I enjoy stopping in from time to time after my shift. I could look in here for hours and always find something new to love. I keep a bullet journal and almost everything decorative in there is from this store.Also, as a wedding photographer, I like to mail my clients handwritten thank you cards when sending off their finished albums/etc and I always come in here for their beautiful collection of Rifle Paper Co. cards. I love love love this place and will continue coming back as long as I live in Pittsburgh.

Although the store is tucked away in a residential section of Squirrel Hill, it manages to stock a lot of items.There is a wide variety of paints for watercolor, airbrushing, screen printing, and normal acrylic and enamel. They also carry sculpting supplies, a few airbrush supplies, canvases, brushes, pens, and art pencils.A large section of arts and crafts for kids rounds out the store.Theres a lot of stuff in here and its very easy to miss what you may be looking for. Ask the staff to be sure; theyre very helpful.

Pretty decent sized store. Decent selection of supplies. In particular they have a large selection of canvas and frames, if you are looking for those. Smaller selection of wood supplies. The employees are ok. Id rather not argue about something specific Im looking for and just be told yes, they carry it. or no, they dont instead of being insisted that a different product will work the same, even after Ive told them Ive used it and it does not.

Not only does this art store have everything a professional artist needs to work in any medium, like dry sketching, paints, clay, carving, printmaking, canvas stretching, acrylic molding, calligraphy, fiber arts, and dyeing, to name a few, it also has a unique selection of gift items and toys. They have youth art supplies, coloring books, and even silly socks! When picking up gifts for kids birthday parties, I would much rather shop here than a big box store. I like that you can view much of their stock online, and when I visit in person Ive always gotten expert advice and assistance from the staff.

This store has an excellent selection that is very fairly priced. The staff are numerous and will go above and beyond to make sure that you find the materials you need to get your project done. Its often difficult to locate an art & craft store that actually carry art supplies as well as craft supplies. Artist and Crafts stock both, but I was so glad to see wall after wall of art supplies. Brushes, paints, markers, papers, canvas, all the standard supplies, and then some new things to challenge creativity. Everyone on the staff was kind, informative, and helpful. Prices are totally fair, and there are sale items. Best is the availability of both budget and high end, high quality examples In every category so you dont have to settle.

A&C has been my art store of choice in Pittsburgh for a while now. Theres an wide selection of goodies to choose from - everything from gifts for kiddos, to cool socks, to a ton of art supplies at varying price points. Additionally, the staff are always helpful and kind when Im on the hunt for something specific.

BUYER BEWARE! Heres the problem...Artist & Craftsman (A&C) in Squirrel Hill has the best selection of art products in the city of Pittsburgh, but their customer service is abysmal. After calling ahead to ask about stock on a particular item and being told that the item was in stock and available, I walked to A&C to acquire it. When I arrived, I learned that they did NOT actually carry the item I was looking for and was talked into buying a similar item in its place. I got home with the substitute, and as soon as I had it out of the package I could tell it was inferior. A quick writing/drawing test confirmed its shoddiness. I went back to the store 2 days later with my receipt in hand to make a return in accordance with the return policy printed at the bottom of the receipt which reads, Return 30 days w/ receipt. Instead of accepting the return, the clerk told me they could only accept returns on unused, unopened items. When I asked for a manager, the manager repeated the same (like a lemming!), and then added that hed try to get the return policy on the receipt changed sometime in the future. I used to spend a fair amount of money in A&C for their selection alone. I may pop in to A&C to browse in the future but will be acquiring strictly online or from one of Pittsburghs many other reputable art supply stores. (Use Google, youll find them!)
