For anyone who requires a gunsmith should want the best. The Gunsmith, Mr Ford is the best at what he does, not because he has years of experience or practice makes perfect. Nelson is the best because he cares, because he is a perfectionist and he wants your business. If you like his work spread the NEWS, is he cheap, No he is not. The Best never are and quality is worth every dollar spent. Be aware he is opinionated but the great ones usually are, God Bless.Guy Jr.

Nelson Ford has fixed the loading ramp on my 1911 and then later replaced its safety lever after it broke and it has been working flawlessly ever since.I referred my brother there to fix the sight on his S&W Revolver and Nelson repaired it perfectly, quickly and very reasonably.Great business and I highly recommend going there.

This is a fantastic gunsmith with 40 years experience working on 1911s and Smith guns.Dont lisen to any of the 1 star reviews. They are just people that dont like being told how it is. This man is straight to the point and lets you know if your gun can be worked on.I will be doing business with this man again.

The owner of this place has been in business since 1980. Enough said. But seriously, he was very knowledgeable and was able to clean my 1964 llama 1911 9 mm and had it finished within a 24 hour turnaround. This gun had never been cleaned and it’s entire life. The gun looks brand new and fires like a champ. Thanks again!

Cannot say enough good things about Nelson and the work he did for me. I have learned a ton from our conversations and my completed pistol is absolutely perfect. The workmanship is immaculate. I am very disappointed that he may be retiring soon, he is a true professional.

The proprietor, Nelson Ford, clearly loves most firearms especially high quality revolvers. Over his objections, I convinced him to look at a seventy-four year old WWII p.38. In a timely and cost-effective manner he put it right so that it can be fired without worry at the range along with my newer pistols.

I took my 12 ga here and i didnt know much about it and i also had a hug problem with it.. The gunsmith (i forgot to ask for his name) took care of me gave all the information about my 12 ga including some helpful tips. He took less then 20 mins to fix my gun and was really honest with me 100% he has so much experience. I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS GUNSMITH FOR ANY PROBLEMS U HAVE WITH YOUR GUN

I had Nelson repair the feed latch on a Remington 1100, which he did in about 15 minutes for a very fair price. Hes as knowledgeable about guns as he is entertaining. Hes opinionated and has definite biases towards certain guns and brands, but funny too. His shop could be in Brooklyn, and hed fit right in. Judging by some of the other reviews, if you have thin skin go someplace else and pay more.

True, you need to get on board with Nelsons humor, but I have known him for over 30 years in that time he has work on quite a lot of my guns .. 1911s and S&Ws... I cannot praise him enough for the quality of the work that he does. I would not send my 1911 or Smith to any other gunsimith.

I called on a Friday at 4 p.m. with an emergency fix needed before a weekend match I had. I know they were closing at 6 so I was worried he wouldnt be able to see me that day. Nelson was more than helpful (and very nice about it) and said to head in and he will do everything he can to get it ready. I was in and out in 30 min and he was able to fix my bonehead mistake at a great price. I will be coming back for more work in the future and reccomending him to everyone I know.

I came into this business looking to get my Norinco Chinese pistol fixed. The owner was an arrogant jerk that used to be stereotypical of guns shops in the past. He kept telling me he’d been working on “American” guns for forty years.....since Reagan was president. I’m almost 58 so I was not real impressed by anything save this man’s utter rudeness. I wouldn’t return to this shop if he were the only gunsmith in the Phoenix area. The gun owning community could do without this pinhead.

Called to find out if he could install an Apex trigger kit on my Sig P320. He said he didnt do work on plastic guns. Then he went on a rant about all kinds of things that I had no interest in knowing about. Weird dude. I dont recommend. The P320 is now the official gun the U.S. military is using. If you cant do a simple thing like installing a trigger kit on a gun that hundreds of thousands of Americans use then I dont see how you can call yourself a Gunsmith.

First off, the man does excellent work. Thats the only good thing about him - but excellent work needs to go along with service and attitude - I had a Ruger SP101 done a few years back. Outside of having the original conversation with him, and him being impatient, I called him twice on different days to ask about other modifications to have done - WHICH I OFFERED TO AND PAID FOR - for 2 minutes and about 7 minutes each. When I called him months later to ask about a status since the gun was overdue past his estimate, he called me a pain in the ass on the phone and even said on the phone he told a friend of his, who I was recommended thru, and worked with, the same. But he couldnt find my gun for some reason that day - but yet, the next week, called me and laughed and said I found your gun, I thought I had to buy you a new one - you can pick it up. Forget the rest of it - I had it shipped back to me. No way I would walk into this guys shop with that kind of attitude. Ive heard stories also from other customers he has gone near assaulting people over very simple misunderstandings.Work is one hallmark of a person, but running a business and the professionalism ALWAYS go hand in hand. If asking 2 questions for a total of less than 10 minutes of time is a pain in the ass, who is everyone else?Stay away from this guy. We have better gunsmiths who do just as good work.

Terrible customer service, the owner acts as if customers should feel privileged to be in his presence. I dropped my Colt off for work and received a broken gun with no requisition of the services rendered and he offered no chance for resolve or refund so I paid for him to ruin my 1911. I would never recommend this business for it is a joke and is ran in a very unprofessional way. Personally Nelson Ford who is a self-proclaimed Doctor slanders anyone who has actually put in the hard work to obtain the the title of Doctor! He just rides on his daddys reputation.

Nelson did some work for me on a Colt 1911. He installed a beavertail grip safety, sights, and generally went over it. The gun has a very solid feel with the beavertail installed. Not Clacky or loose. It feels really tight and solid & it functions great.

This man tried to convince me a replacement stock for my grandfathers remington 550 .22 would be 2000$ and a repair job 600$-700$. I immediatly googled a new stock and found one for 86$ he then proceeded to talk over me everytime I tried to speak. I am far to smart to fall for any of this mans crap and I hope to god noone is stupid enough to condict ANY buisness with this lieing disrespectful crimminal.

Called and asked about replacing my front sight on my Ruger LCR and then I was subjected to a tirade regarding plastic guns and why did I buy one and if people keep on buying them the manufactures will keep on making them. I said “I will just go somewhere else”. This place must be making lots of money to treat customers like this. Based on my experience the owner is a jerk.

Excellent work installing an upgraded adjustable rear sight and high-visibilty front site on my .22LR conversion slide/barrel for my 1911. It looks perfect and is dead on target. Time to deliver the finished slide was considerably faster than I expected at just over 2 weeks. Will definitely return for any gun smithing services I may need in future.
