Hands down the best customer service I have had in any game store.My son and I came in to see if their tables were open for free play. They were, and they had community games out for people to try. That is not why I leave a five star review, it goes beyond that.When we first came into the store, we were greeted right away. Paul came up to us and asked about our gaming habits, upon finding out about the games my son and I play he recommended a certain game. Now that game did not have an open copy to try. He went out to his car and grabbed his personal copy. He helped us set it up, explained the rules, walked us through the first few rounds. All the while he was helping other guests, answering the phone, greeting people, etc. He even took the time to talk pokemon deck building strategies with my son for a bit.I cant stress this enough, this was hands down the best service I have received in any game store. I am not from this area, I visit my son once a month, and I now have a new home game store. They made such an impression on me, I will buy what I can from them when I am in town, though my weight limit will dictate what I can buy from them. My game store where I am from doesnt treat guests half as well as this store does.Thank you Paul, and the other employees, for such a great experience.

The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are always accommodating. If you ever have any questions or need suggestions they have it covered. The owner and staff really care about the customer and giving the best experience possible.

I havent been to this shop in about a year due to having move on the other side of the valley but the owner is the coolest/chillest guy youll ever meet. They have such a great selection for so many different cards and games its crazy. Cant wait to visit again!

Was immediately impressed with the Owner’s enthusiasm and passion for games. The store is broken down into various sections and includes a wide variety of puzzles, miniatures, boardgames, card games, and role-playing games. The store also has a number of accessories for miniatures, collectors, and gaming enthusiasts.After spending almost an hour browsing the store and its immense collection, we purchased a number of games for our ever expanding collection. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, we were not able to enjoy the play-before-you-pay experience or participate in Funkatronic’s Friday game night. However, we are very much looking forward to returning when things get back to normal and joining this wonderful gaming community.Highly recommend. Great prices. Great inventory. Great people. 5/5

I guess this place has been here for a few years but I had never heard of it. I went to my regular game store and found it closed today and finding myself in need of a few things I just did a search and they came up. I live quite a ways from here but was willing to drive the 40 minutes. When I walked in I could see that this was indeed a store that is run by real table top enthusiasts. There were tables for games, a library to try games, lots of terrain and miniatures in multiple stages of completion. And they had a good selection of games and supplies for purchase as well. But what really sold it for us was the gentleman who was working at the time. He was great. He showed us around, answered our questions and made some great suggestions. I had a list of supplies I was looking for and was able to find what I needed and a lot more. We walked out spending way more than what I had planned for my regular game store and we will be back.

Dudes in this shop are super informative and chill!! Absolutely will shop here often, and will recommend them to anyone looking for gaming information and supplies! They are doing a great job with social distancing and mask mandates as well. All in all I would give them a 10 if it was possible.

Best trading card game and hobby store in Phoenix. The owner and staff are top notch and can help with whatever questions you may have and they have an amazing stock of games from board games to Magic to Pokémon to Warhammer etc and all the supplies to support those games. Could not recommend this store enough. Was one of the first stores in the area that I found to be friendly and inviting.

More then a decade later and Im back to painting and stuff and the lore. Plus they had the risk legacy edition I have been hunting and tracking down every now and then and like this place is just super great. Go here.

Mike, the store owner, really is a great guy.The shop is clean and friendly.Whenever I go in, I know I will be greeted well, and I am always going to leave feeling like that shop cares about me, not just my money.Mike knows a lot about magic, but not everything. This shop is good for those who know magic and can look through very organized binders to get what they need. Mike keeps up with the inventory really well as well.Mikes specialty, in my opinion, is the board games. He knows them really well, being able to recommend three games for my style and budget and I LOVE all three of them. He will take the time to sit and teach you how to play.He also has a large selection of games to play for free just to build a community. Overall love it all.This is my prioritized store by far.Amazing shop for an amazing community.

First of all, I have never been to a gaming store where the focus is primarily on making you feel welcome and having as much fun as possible. I initially found out about this place because my 12yo son was invited to an MTG birthday party being held there last year (yes, you can have parties there!). All of the kids were having an incredibly fun time that had nothing to do with staring at a screen, and had everything to do with strategy, personal interaction, good sportsmanship, and tons of laughter.As a family of many, many children 😂... all of the staff that weve met have been exceptionally kind, patient, and understanding. Board games are free to play. Competition is friendly, but fierce. Friends and strangers alike were sharing advice, suggestions, and stories.One of the things I love the most is that whenever we visit, which is usually to grab more MTG packs, Mike makes awesome suggestions about new games to try. Ive never seen anyone so expertly explain a game in 45 seconds, while maintaining the attention of kids ranging in age from 7 to 13! This guy is some sort of magician! lol Anyway, I cant recommend this place enough. Weve spent countless hours there and cant believe how fast the time flies!In this pandemic era, theyve gone out of their way to ensure the safety of those who would patronize the business - call-in ordering, fast pick-up, in-store distancing, virtual drafts, and theyre very responsive to FB messages. It has truly been one of the best discoveries Ive made since moving here.

Really enjoyed my experience at this store. Had plenty of stock, found exactly what I was looking for and the guy working was very pleasant and treated me more than just a sale. The only downside is it isnt closer to my house but I will definitely be making more trips to this location.

Ive been to every game store in the area and have never been treated as well as I have at Funkatronic.They have a knowledgeable and dedicated staff with a good spirited, healthy community of like minded analog gamers.If youre new to the scene or a veteran looking for a place to hang out, play games and talk magic - this is the best place in Phoenix, there is no contest.

For an up-and coming gaming store, Funkatronic has a good organizational structure, a good atmosphere, and a great community. While they didnt have everything I wanted in stock, their selection is rather diverse. I always prefer gaming stores that have a wide variety of table top and card games, and Funkatronic certainly has that. I also dig the name. Pretty neat.

We love coming here as a family. My teenagers love playing games with the employees, I love learning new games every time I go. We love the theme nights and the opportunity to be a part of the community. Highly recommend this place for all ages and levels!

I have never felt soooooo welcomed at an establishment before, but Funkatronic Rex was a dream. Went there one day to check it out as we needed a space to play my groups first ever D&D session and the next day there we were playing. The pad is great and its a very welcoming spot. Women and Men restrooms, snacks, board games and figurine shopping everything needed to support your hobbies needs and desires. Just a great overall hobby shop vibe. I love it and you should too, come support the good peeps at Funkatronic Rex.

Its very nice game shop, located in a busy strip. Have a good selection of games ranging from Warhammer to D&D to tabletop board games. And they always seem to have something marked off for 25% which is very good deal.

Great place but the AC isnt too great. Perfect if you need a D&D location not looking for a new game or dice. Theres a delicious restraunt next door as an added bonus

This place is the bomb! My 10 year old got treated like royalty looking for magic cards. They pulled out a bunch of cards to help him build his dino deck. We have been to lots of other stores where he has been ignored, because he is so little. We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

This is my favorite local game shop. The staff is incredibly friendly, its wheelchair accessible, and the atmosphere is always really chill. They have a huge selection of board and card games to try before you buy, which is really cool. And they always have a puzzle out for customers to work on. Definitely drop by and take a look around.

This place has a solid selection of games — probably a little less than something like Imperial Outpost or a larger big-box type, but the staff is awesome and made me feel extremely welcome. They don’t really have a sign and the atmosphere is a little quiet but once you talk to Chris for a couple minutes, you’ll love it there. Highly recommend visiting this game shop, I went on a whim once and now I like to visit when I can and talk to the staff. Just go ahead and hit “directions.”

I love this game store! There is a wide variety of games to choose from. There is almost always something going on in the store, from games of X-Wing, to Dungeons and Dragons, and Magic the Gathering. As well as many other tabletop, card, and role-playing games available for purchase or to just borrow and play in the store. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. They seem to know, and greet, the regulars by name. And, they are always willing to answer questions about the games there. It makes for a very welcoming environment.

If you aint FUNKATRONIC just stay home. Great customer service. Answered every question I had about paints. Will recommend to any friends involved in the hobby. Go Go FunkRex :)

I cant say enough about this place. They have over 250 games you can play for FREE! You can bring in food. Best of all during the week they have D&D games for all ages. Highly recommend this place.

Fun old time gaming store, like before PC gaming was big there was D&D and many others all in stores like this and there was a true social aspect to gaming. This place is great, you can see a variety of people from all walks of life sharing a common love of games.

Such an awesome place! A pretty varied collection of games for sale, and a giant library of games to try before you buy. The store also has a ton of table top space to play board or card games. The employee I talked to was super friendly and knowledgeable. I will absolutely be back to buy a new game or play some magic!

I have nothing but great things to say about this store. They are always stocked up on products and the newest releases. Movies are always playing in the background. Snacks and drinks are available with purchase and you are able to have outside food delivered while gaming. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they sell and are the most welcoming and friendliest group of people you will encounter. Every time i visit it seems that i have an even more enjoyable experience than the last.

Great place to learn and buy new games. Staff is always super helpful and will point you in the right direction for any question you have. I have been going here for over a year now and I love going back and meeting with friends I have made in the store for a game or two.

We spent the afternoon at a Pokemon tournament and the stuff and owner were so nice. My son got fussy and he gave him a little toy and then printed off some coloring sheets for them. I love this place and will definitely cone back. Great place :)

Unfortunately I live in Tucson but was in the area and stopped by to check it out. The store was very open, laid out well and inviting. Been going here since July of 2017. On my first visit I went to inquire about a card game. Not only did they have it but, Mike, the owner took time to teach me the game, hands on, with his own cards. The entire staff is knowledgeable and easy to get along with. I genuinely feel like I have made friends there. It’s like going to the bar in Cheers, everyone knows you. Not to mention the store itself is pretty sweet.

Called to see if they had what I was looking for and they were very helpful and nice. Put my item aside for me and made more recommendations upon pickup, will be returning here soon for more stuff.

Took my grandson to buy a board game...the guy that helped us was so kind and patient, he helped us buy a fun board game. While we were there, 10 or so kids were gathered around a table playing a board game...they were having such a great time. Ill be back for sure.

This store is great! The staff are all very friendly, greeting you at the door. For Friday night Magic, they do a draft every Friday at 7.If you have kids who want to learn Magic, then they will love this place. The kids are put into a separate draft, so they dont have to worry about getting beat by much more experienced players.There are lots of tabletop RPG(like D&D) players, too. Just stop by and you can probably find a group.

Small. Smells like nerds. Not big collection of any one thing because of limited size. Easy to miss even when youre parked outside because signage is not great. A few tables for playing games in-store.
