This place used to be my go to for gunpla and Pokémon cards. Recently they’ve dialed back the gunpla, by significant amount! Also, the customer service isn’t that great, the one guy with the glasses behind the counter always seems like he’d be anywhere else but there. I can understand having a bad day, but as I’ve mentioned, it’s been more than one occasion. Sadly this place used to be my first stop when I’m looking for cards, gunpla, manga… now it’s my last. And sometimes I just can’t be bothered to stop. With Collectors Marketplace and Dave’s Card shop nearby, I would think they would want to step up their game.
Its lost its magic since it changed locations. Now it is a little run down hole in the wall. I understand covid hit a lot of businesses pretty hard, and this one seems to be one of them. Friendly enough service. I hope they get back to where they used to be.
My first date in this place and it is satisfactory with shelves full of anime manga and collectable comics as well 👌 quite an experience, the very relaxing atmosphere the very clean place and the very friendly staff willing to help thank you I am leaving a⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ recommended the place and if you have time, stop by to look at all the articles available!
We love this store! I personally think should have way more Cowboy Bebop Manga but thats just me! A girl can dream!!
Friendly, helpful employees will take care of you here. Great selection and knowledgeable staff. Cody and Ashley are particularly great, but everyone here is wonderful.
Awesome place! Nice and clean on the inside, great selection, and its awesome to see a comic store busy like it was when I went! Great spot to check out.
Came in yesterday while visiting Phoenix. Not a bad store per se, but a very middling one to be sure. Nice open concept and I was greeted and told have a nice say when I left by the employee at the front counter. For me, I was just surprised by the lack of key comics and what they had on the walls as keys. They legitimately had $5 books displayed on the wall taking up space. Which means they aren’t buying a lot of collections to resell (that’s the lifeblood of a comic shop) or I was there at entirely the wrong time. This would be a good shop to come and get your weekly pull of new comics.Prices weren’t obscene like they were at Collectors Marketplace, so that was nice. But I’d have preferred to have seen some cool gems and a wider selection of options.
Cool shop with a good stock of comics. Other items sold in store though, not so much- I think its hit or miss if I buy something, only because they dont always have what Im looking for- awesome staff though. Each team member seems happy and ready to help.
Driving bye! My SON BEGGED TO STOP.. NOT MY THING. BUT I WANTED EVERYTHING. THEY HAD! 😍
A lot of comic but not much collectable but has a really nice setup
This place always has something cool. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Excellent service, even helped carry our stuff out. Highly reco.mend
Have only been a couple of times, but I love everything about samurai comics. Ive definitely talked about it and even dragges my brother there to get him back into the card games. I cant wait for my next visit ! They always have amazing stock!!!
This store is staffed by very friendly, helpful people. They are welcoming to newcomers, and enthusiastic about sharing new hobbies with outsiders.Comic shops have a bad reputation as being cesspools of toxic masculinity, gatekeeping, and generally anti-social, hostile environments. This store really bucks the trend, and my wife feels comfortable talking to the employees about new comics and asking for suggestions. I really recommend this location for anyone new to comics or gaming that wants to try something new!
Like most comic shops, this store has had to lean into games and toys to stick around, but it still very much has that universal comic shop feel. Big wall of new issues, shelves full of the TPBs. A little light on the back issues, but better than many other shops out there.
My daughter is heavily into anime, and loves the figurines. This place is a must for any anime lover! ive never seen the gachapon machines in the states and they have a few, Qposkets your flavor? they had several while we visited, they are beautiful figures! nicely done. This place has genuinly tried to bring the japanese anime and all things japanese style collecting to a whole new level, without having to go to japan yourself.
This is a great little spot. Me and my best friend would go every week to get comics and find new little things we liked. Before I moved, it was always a place a went to get my comics and stickers. They are always willing to help and order things that might not be in store.
I have visited Samurai Comics on several occasions and they have always been helpful in finding what I am looking for. It is a great place to browse and find hidden gems.
Asked about some stickers they have been out of for a few weeks. I asked one of the employees if by any chance they knew if they were gonna get more in, and an employee (who wasn’t even the one who was assisting just sitting behind the counter)chimed in very rudely and annoyed “At this point we will get them when we get them” and didn’t say anything else. The guy I was actually talking to looked a bit embarrassed and just smiled at me. I have been going here for years I’ve spent lots of money there but I will not be going back.
Helpfull staff. Out of everything we were looking for.
Perfectly awesome. Great comics, super chill people and a really down to earth vibe. Definitely recommend it for peoples who look for amazing quality comics and kool people
Horrible, the staff are rude, the store is run down and dirty, and constantly dont have products. Earlier review got taken down so now Im posting another one to tell people to stay away.
I love this place i go to buy manga and they are always so nice and give recommendations
Called in to ask what Charizard Pokémon cards they had and the guy on the phone was crass and abrasive, very unprofessional and turned me off the store. However, as an avid collector of Charizard cards, I decided to go in anyways. The selection of Charizards amounted to 3, maybe 4 cards, that were all overpriced. I was expecting more considering we were told there were several and they were all worth several hundred dollars. The man at the counter for the card area must have been the one who we spoke to on the phone. He talked to me as if we had no knowledge of what we were looking a and assumed we would not be able to afford the cards. All in all, very disappointed, poor selection and poor staff.
Scalping prices on pokemon products the day of release because online stores are doing the same. Also if you are not a regular they are a rude to you.
Tried to buy the Marnie Premium Tournament Collection on release day. They had 2 whole display box available. They want 70 for this product eventho the MSRP is 40. The reason I was given was that its going for 80+ online. I dont understand why they would scalp the price on release day. They also sell the first partners pack for 20 instead of 10 like every where else. This used to be my familys go to on the weekends. My son was getting into pokemon and this is such a disappointment to our local community.
I love this place! So many unique items and awesome stickers!
Cute shop with wide selection and friendly workers
The store has an open layout with lots of selection. Its clean and the staff are helpful. I came here looking for kids comics for my boys, and we all had a good time. The area of town is not so nice (there were some homeless people sleeping on one side of the building during the daytime), but we felt safe enough.
Great comic store. They got a good back catalog and all the up to date issues. Manga section is ok, mainly just mainstream and always missing the first few books. Decent Gunpla section but you gotta get there first since they go quick.
Good comics old and new. Pop figures, Mangas, and more to find here!
Cool store! Clean, easy to see everything they have. Customer service was great as well. Recommend this place for your comic book and nerd type needs.
Samurai comics is awesome the customer service is excellent . They location is good and I am happy with their service and location .
Nice comic book store. Lots of inventory. Mostly new but some silver age on the walls
Me and my children love it variety of things for all interests
Called to ask them if they had an anime plush toy. They put me on hold for 20 minutes, and hung up the phone.I called them back, and the same guy picked up the phone, I wont name drop but he pretended to be someome else and told me they didnt have the toy. Thanks for wasting my time in my search to do something nice for my best friends birthday.
Best comic shop in the valley. Catch their Tuesday night stream for deals and fun
Great as usual and glad they are still following the masks required rule in their store.
The staff was very nice. They have a nice selection of items. There are many items for all ages and price ranges. The store is easy to find and plenty of parking.
Didnt have much anime stuff. But good for marvel and dc fans.
I liked the shop, it was bright and had clearly marked age appropriate sections. They have knowledgeable staff and the store is clean and masks are enforced. It was however a little close and warm, needs better air flow but other than that I will be going back many times!
Freaking FANTASTIC!!!!! I was thrilled! I found a couple comics is been personally looking for. Got micro comics for my under five grandsons, and bags and CrdBrd for other comics!! There was so much stuff in this store I wanted! They not enough. Lime the Green Lantern Stewart, steward? Anyway, youll Love it! GO!!!!!!
Great spot. Friendly staff, nice selection.
Nice setup, comics galore, check it out.
Amazing staff! Huge selection of books and merchandise. I personally love the array of manga and japanese related products. There are also selections from local and independent artists/writers. Everyone is super helpful and kind. Welcoming environment and you will find something there for everyone!
Me and my wife were excited when we saw that pokemon was making a comeback and we went to other stores but none were as easy to look around as samurai, so we went back every Sunday on our day off and pick up packs and funko pops and really enjoyed our there. What upsets me is not the resell of the price of packs or boxes but upon buying 2 VMAX Pikachu & Crobat boxes we realized every collectors worst fear, the packs were clearly not sealed and some have been tampered. Unless Im loosing my mind I had 8 different pokemon pulled in a box(not a pack) but in the box atleast 4-7 times. So I really hope its not your Employees doing and have a chat with your supplier because that really put a dent in our relationship to your store. We loved your store but I told my wife we would not go back. I hope someone on the management team reads this and considers looking into your pokemon supply and resolves this,,thx
I appreciate Samurais commitment to operating in central Phoenix among its other sites-- first and foremost. Samurai Comics is my usual go to destination when I want to look for Gunpla, various TCG, and comics. Staff is knowledgeable, but can be curt when busy. Inventory includes plushies, posters, comics, models, stickers, collectable cards, and much more. Every visit is a joy.
Great place but there one guy that works there is so ruded and seems like he dont want to be there
Awesome service! Awesome selection! I love it!
The kids love it. Its the place they go for their manga and Funko Pop fix. The staff is friendly and everyone seems like theyre in a good mood here.
Nice selection of both new and old . Dinged a point for no boards on new books though. Def a must these days imo.
Great local comic shop. Plus pops, anime, statues and more.
Coolest place in town, longtime friends with the owners. They make you feel part of the family!
Great selection, clean and well organized by a helpful staff
Best shop in town
Only place that had supplies I needed!
Best comic store in the valley. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff and awesome selection. It is always worth stopping in even if you dont have a specific item in mind, youll for sure find something that youll have to have
The place is pretty cool, lots of stuff. I even got some pokemon cards vivid voltage. Out of 4 packs I only got a zarude v. ThxSAMCOMICS》《《》》《《》》《》》
I went in asking about their yugioh sets guy working says he didnt know reasonable enough its a comic shop first card shop second. Asked them about the order of a recent comic that came dude says he doesnt know as well. Customer service when i went in was eh at best i understand work gets boring or tiring but come on good customer service bringa people back to the store
One of the few true comic shops left in the valley... Probably left in the US, really. great selection of stuff, gets all the new books every Wednesday and offers subscription services. Friendly staff and fun place to hang out as well. Covid has put a dampner on the shop, but they offer a free mask and hand sanitizer as soon as you walk through, definitely a business trying to survive and still practice safety protocols. Recommended for any comic nerd.
Lots of comics and some puzzles. Some nic-nacs and what not. #SupportLocal
Awesome comic shop with a great selection of comics and collectibles, everyone on staff was very nice and helpful! I will definitely be going back soon
Nice store, but the guy behind the counter didint know squat.
The Indian School and Country Club location are awesome. The one near Luke AFB is trash horrible.
Great customer service!
I go here all the time wonderful place to shop!
Love this place but needs more pokémon cards... J/S.
Amazing comic store! Went in for a specific item without calling ahead or checking online and they had it. Customer service is also fantastic, they seem knowledgeable on any thing related to the items they sell. I highly recommend this shop to anybody whos into comic books, anime, trading card games and they even have a section for the little people (kids).
Good for Yu-Gi-Oh. Not a massive selection of boosters. You can sell or purchase singles which is what I liked. Would return.
Edited.... I was wrong in my last review and i apologize for that, also went there Sunday and picked up so more cards, guys behind the counter were great and very helpful and got a huge hit in one of the pack so made my little ones day.
Today I gave the store a call, inquiring on their Covid-19 hours. I was assisted with gracious care and consideration towards the current social distancing policy. I stopped by for a few board games for the family whilst at home in quarantine. It was my first time visiting, and I was very impressed by the immense selection of games, comics, and figures, along with the weekly events they usually hold, when quarantined gamers are let public once again! Thank you Mike for your hard work and excellent service you provided to myself and Phoenix! Stop by HERE for their annual National Comic Book Day!!! Stay safe everyone, and keep on supporting the good guys like these!
One of the best comic shops in the valley. Make and Moria are great. Their crew is awesome sauce. And if they dont have something, Mike will do his best to see if he can get ahold of it for you.
Very friendly staff. Store was clean and so much to select from even Gunpla which is hard to find in stores.
Great selection and helpful staff.
Nice store. Super clean. Very nice staff
Best comic book store in the history of the world. The guy who helped my 9 year old son was the most amazing guy you could have asked for. It was our first time there and I spent some extra money just because of how awesome he was to my son. They will have a return customer in me for sure. Thank you
Nice place. Very welcoming and helpful (except for that one guy with the flatcap who made fun of my accent).
It was awesome, came in for pops and action figures but came out with phenomenal comics.
Best place for gundam builders to go get kits and collect. First time building kind of nervous but they sold me a 30mm kit that helps ease or gete started.
The best
This really reminded me of an old school comic shop! Awesome work!
I popped in Samurai Comics today while in the city with my wife. It was my first time at this location and was very impressed by the layout and the selection. The staff were very friendly and even made my wife feel comfortable (she is not a comic nerd like I am and had never been to a comic shop before). I was looking for a particular issue of a comic and the staff member who assisted me dug through the title that I was looking for and found me not only the issue that I was after but a limited variant cover.I dont get in to that part of the city very often but the next time that I do, Ill definitely be going back.
Awesome store. Really large back issue selection, great wall books, and super clean. Well organized - I found all the titles I was looking for with ease. Helpful staff. A real joy to visit. Ill come again, and Id definitely recommend a visit.
Awesome, and friendly atmosphere, current issues from almost every publisher and if there is something youre looking for they can probably order it for you or tell you how to get it.
Definitely a better shop in Phoenix. OUTSANDING paperback selection. Enough nicnacs to get by. Overall, Ill be back
Awesome place. They have everything!
Excellent Staff&Very Knowledgeable&Informative About Their Wondrous Product
Nice to see a comic book store with a lot of new comic books. Most sale very few new comics
Was hot and funky inside on free comics day but me and my kids still enjoyed browsing, buying, picking up a few free editions. I loved taking way too many pictures with the Dead Pool statue!!! A gentleman helped me locate every comic featuring a person of color. I bought a copy of almost every one🤩 Got a kick out of the place for sure😁Heads up though guys, Black Panther should salute #WakandaForever to literally the only brown people in the building LOL Come on man smh lol
Knowledgeable about the product. Very friendly.
Not bad for what they have
Liked the layout of the store. Very organized and clean. Staff was very helpful.
