Great space with great folks. Its a hobby Ive always wanted to pursue but lacked the space to setup a shop. I look forward to building some cool stuff and learning more about the shop equipment and woodworking techniques. Were lucky to have this gem in the Philadelphia area!

My husband and I have been wanting to check out the classes here for a while and finally took the class for making your own cutting board. It was fantastic! I was pretty nervous about using some of the equipment beforehand but our instructor Adam, really make us all feel comfortable and safe and led us through the process thoroughly. He was super knowledgeable and patient. We will certainly be back! I really recommend this for anyone wanting to try woodworking!

I spent a year as a member and loved every second I spent in this shop. The staff were available when I needed some expert guidance or input. The shop wasn’t overly crowded. I was always impressed with how clean the shop was. 5/5. If you’re exploring this new hobby or are a seasoned expert this spot will meet your needs.

The gentleman at the front desk said he gets my story frequently: I drive by this place every day and always wanted to go, but never have, until today. I encourage anyone thinking about going to stop thinking and actually go. I learned more useful skills in 3 hours of making a cutting board than all my years in school combined. Wood working is an insanely rewarding skill, and the men working here are some of the kindest and clearest instructors around.

Had an amazing experience taking the Cutting Board Making class. I walked in knowing virtually nothing and walked out feeling so accomplished! The 3 hour class flew by. I was taught by an expert and super nice and PATIENT teacher how to use really cool power tools (like the table saw!) The other folks in the class were also really great. After the long COVID quarantine, this was one of the best things I have done! I was excited to try it, and it most definitely did not disappoint.

Excellent experience. My daughter and I went to a bowl turning class. We had a great instructor, Bruce, who showed us everything we needed to know about using a lathe and helped when needed. I would definitely recommend taking a class at Philadelphia Woodworks. You can also become a member and have use of all the tools and equipment as well as help if needed.

Liked this place a lot until they closed my account and sold my wood without telling me. Then tried to tell me they did me a favor. Never going back again.

Liked it,you learn a whole lot about different trees 🌲🌳 and woods, both of my instructors were great, funny and really hands on helpful.$400 for the womens weekend,@9:30-5:30 P.M. Warning PSA: if you have a bad back, sore feet, your gonna be in lots of pain about lunch time and dying to sit down. Its standing only for the entire class. I came home took pain meds with 🍷🍷🍷to get some relief. Luckily the next class wasnt till the following weekend. Bring lunch, unless you know what stores are in manayunk. The website says class is in West Philly(NOT) its in Manayunk/mannayunk not sure of the proper spelling. Youll have to eat in your vehicle or outside, also your lunch break start time fluctuates from 12:00-1:30P.M. your break is only 30 minutes. Learning all the tools and equipment they have is cool, but I wished they give info on where to get the equipment incase we want it for our own home and practice on. Anyways youll love the class, but again be mindful of your own pain tolerance for your feets👣 and your back. I tried Boots the first day, still lots of pain, second day tried wearing sneakers and still pain. So just remember its a standing only class for about 8-9 hours straight. If you dont have these problems then your good to go all day.✌️🍷Oh, and you get to make and bring home your 3projects, if youre not good with math and the ruler like me, they really helped me out, because I was close to calling my hubby to come back and get me because I was getting very frustrated and anxiety was kicking in, so I trusted myself and I told my instructor and he really helped me feel better about my project and helped me calm down.

My wife and I were interested in making a custom kitchen table for our new home. We scheduled an appointment with Rex to discuss our project, and the team at Philadelphia Woodworks took over from there. They sourced our Cherry wood for the project; set us up with a schedule to build with Rex every other week; and Mike arranged for our table to be color matched to our kitchen island after it was done. We learned a great deal along the way, had a wonderful time doing, and created a stunning piece of furniture that our family will enjoy for years to come. I would highly recommend Philadelphia Woodworks to anyone interested in trying something new.

Michael is a fantastic teacher. I was afraid of table saws but he taught us all to use it in a clear, friendly and respectful way. The facility is top notch. It has dust collection and excellent woodworking tools.

I had a private lesson last night at this wonderful wood store. I needed a specific cut to backfill a floor opening and the experience of picking out my own lumber, learning how to use their excellent machinery (we planned and we table sawed) under the eye of a master woodsman was tremendous. I plan to get some friends together and get back out there for a group class.

I had been a member for a few months. I noticed a new set of utterly gorgeous pepper mills, and jokingly asked the owner how many years it would take me to build up to making them. He told me that if I took the 4 day woodturning course, then he could give me a private lesson that would have me making them right away. We sat down and planned out the blanks I would need to make for them. I took the course (500 +materials), and scheduled the private lesson. I started the blanks, buying wood from the shop. I kept asking him questions, and made it clear that I was following the pattern we had come up with for the blanks. The morning of the lesson, I showed up with my blanks. He told me that he had only done 2 of them, and that they were really hard to do. He said he had done 40 pepper mills, and still had trouble with these type of blanks. He told me he couldnt teach me to turn them.He conned me.
