Pearl vision went above and beyond to the help me to be seen before the time because I didn’t feel good and I was having surgery. I appreciate that the doctors was kind enough to see me.
Walnut/ RittenhouseExcellent eye care and glasses.Staff is very professional and care about helping customers choose proper eyewear to match prescription.also many discounts...Dr Richey is Great!!Ive been customer for minimum 10 yrs!!
I am not a member of this practice, but I called in dire need of contacts, as I had mistakenly forgot to bring a few pair on my trip into Philadelphia. Dr. Richey was more than accommodating and gave me 5 pair at no charge! If I ever move to Philadelphia he will be the only one getting my business. Class act.
I always have a good experience at the Pearle Vision on Walnut St. . The team is caring, helpful and informative. They take the time to ask the relevant questions. I highly recommend them.
I don’t generally review places, but wanted to add one because of how great the staff were here. Very pleasant experience both before and during the exam. Helped me price things with my insurance. Can’t recommend highly enough for routine eye exam and contacts
The place is right in the middle of the city. The ophthalmologists are brilliant in their work and the staff is extremely cooperative. They gave me a full coverage for my frames and the service was very good. Just the glass delivery took nearly a week. Rest apart, I would visit again for sure!
My glasses snapped within 2 months. Just sitting there and the plastic snapped with a very loud noise, like someone had thrown something at me. Good thing I got the insurance on them. It was an otherwise great experience, but wow! The lens popped out. Im glad I was home when it happened! Coming in tomorrow at 10 AM to deal with this unfortunate surprise. Update: I got taken care of in less than an hour, got new frames because of my warranty.
Nancy and Charlie have been so helpful with my first time trying contact lenses! They really have gone above and beyond in their customer service. As long as I am in the Philly area, I will not be going anywhere else for my contacts/glasses needs!
Have gotten eyeglasses at this location for a few years now. The selection is great, especially for house stock frames & designer too. The service was good, your average eyeglass place. But now that theyve gotten Joe, it seems to be a much friendlier place. Being waited on him was great, focused on personalization & affordability. Thanks Joe & Pearle!
I had an eye examination completed here. The good: The doctor was great and they were timely. The bad: My prescription did NOT include my pupillary distance. I need specialized eyewear for work and when I explained this and asked for my pupillary distance measurement, they said it would be an additional $25 on top of the fee I paid for examination. This is an incredible inconvenience and I will not be returning for repeat examination.I strongly discourage others from visiting this office if they are seeking full service.
Im delighted to get eye examination and eye glasses in this location. The greeting was very good . The receptionist greet visitors polite and courteous. The doctor did a good well exam, . He also was friendly and confident. I would recognize the sales assistant services which its competitive. They are helping me choose my eyes lens, show Care, and treat eveyone with respect.
Super kind and knowledgeable staff!
Very Kind Employees and Service was Magnificent, Thanks So Much.
This was the second time Ive gotten an eye exam and glasses from this location and they have not disappointed me yet. I have a very difficult prescription and my glasses have been perfect. They also have a very knowledgeable staff that is very nice.
I have been going to Pearl vision and this one for over 25 years. The owner and staff always are friendly and knowledgeable. I have a very high plus and my glasses and contacts are always perfect. I’m love them and can’t go anywhere else and get this fabulous type of service. Thank you for making feel like family.
I normally dont do reviews, however I was at this location yesterday and had a great experience. While there I overheard another patient discussing with one of the employees how he was reading over the reviews and some were awful, stating that everyone that works there is rude. He also goes on to state that hes been going to that location for years and absolutely loves this place but was having reservations about coming back because of the reviews. First, i like to say to that if youve never had a bad experience somewhere why would someone elses negative review deter you. Speaking from experience consumers sometimes go into places with attitudes themselves and expect the employees there to kiss their behinds, we are not always right. So get off of your high horses people. Youre basically wanting someone to get fired for a not so great experience. You dont know what people are going through and Im pretty sure that some of you have had people say negative things about you. Maybe they were having a bad day, or sick and still have to go to work to put food on their tables. My take is that theyre honest blunt matter of fact people and most of us cant handle that because were usually carrying our feelings on our sleeves or the person just doesnt give the answer we want to hear. For example, also while I was there another person who had an appointment came in completely unprepared. When the employee asked for insurance the patient didnt have any card nor did she know who the insurance went through. So the employee told her she would check some of the common insurances that they accept using name and date of birth. From what i heard she 3 and the patient didnt come up in any of the sites so the employee asked the patient to reach out to her human resources to find out the information. Instead of her doing just that she decides to tell the employee that shell take her business elsewhere. Who was wrong??? The employee didnt give any attitude she just explained to her that being as though the patients information wasnt showing up in any of the sites if she still wanted to been seen by the doctor she would have to pay for the exam. This patient is probably one of those type of people that go places with an attitude and expect people to do their job because if she had of come prepared with her information that scenario wouldve turned out differently. Check your own attitudes sometimes before you slander other people and potentially cost them their jobs.
I love going to this specific Pearle Vision. I been going here since I was a little girl. They are always welcoming, respectful and polite towards me and other customers when I’m there. Especially the doctor who always checks my eyes. They never take long to see you.
Excellent experience from this corporate giant: called one evening, they had an appointment for me the next day, ordered my glasses at 10 am and luckily was wearing them by 3:30 that afternoon. Continued to be helpful even months after with a faxed RX to another retailer. Yay!
Great experience. They went beyond to ensure my glasses were just right. Joe was extremely helpful with fixing my prescription and in such a timely manner. Also, when I picked up my glasses, I forgot the case and they provided a slip cover to protect them on my way back to work. Very thoughtful!
Awesome Experience
This place used to be okay, but all the ladies now have a horrible attitude. I’ve worked in customer service for over 10 years and work reception at a medical office currently, and if I talked to people the way they did on the phone and in person, I would be fired on the spot. Very trashy place that doesn’t understand how insurance works and tries to hike up the prices. Last year, I paid my copay and didn’t have to pay for a separate prescription of contacts and glasses. It is $50 for a contacts prescription. Me and my mom both went separately and had a horrible experience with them overcharging us. The woman talked down to me and had a mean attitude the entire time. Stay away.
A waste of my vision benefits coverage. This optometrist did not give me the right prescription. My vision was blurry...they tried to tell me it was because I had the same glasses for 2 years. It was significantly off compared to my previous lens. I told them about it and they tested me again and lowered my lens. I only went here because my insurance didnt cover me at my favorite eye docs. This was like Save A Lot compared to Whole Foods. Thankfully I went back to my favorite eye docs and I had my eyes tested again ( I paid out my own pocket just because I was certain something was off with Pearle). I was finally given the right prescription. Pearle was way off and now I have glasses from them that I cant even wear. Their fancy equipment is garbage because it doesnt catch any pressure in the eyes for glaucoma screening. Dont waste your time, money, or benefits coverage here. Pay the extra money and see a real optometrist, elsewhere
Had a good experience there. Booking an appointment online is super quick and easy. My appointment, which involved a simple contact fitting, was lightning fast, which is exactly what Im looking for. Shipped contacts to me for free.
Went in for an eye exam and contacts. Extremely convenient location with friendly staff and great optometrist. Best part is they were able to schedule me in as a walk-in, sans judgment.
I’ve been going to Pearle Vision at this location for almost 15 years. The doctor is great, he answers questions, takes his time and is always polite. The store has a good selection of glasses as well. The staff is awful! Every single time I’ve been in the office I had a bad customer service experience. Today I stood there waiting because one of the women were taking a personal call at the front desk. They always huff and puff during your visit and try rush you out the door. They need to hire people who want to work there and be helpful to people who want to get the glasses that make them feel good since we wear them on our face everyday.
If I could give ZERO stars, I would. This place is a JOKE!!! Who allows a customer to order glasses and then decides to close up for 3 weeks + with no warning. My daughter needed her glasses for school but instead of telling customers it would take almost 6 weeks they take your money and close up. No voicemail when you call either. Then when you finally get there, every single staff member gives you an attitude. Treat you like you are annoying them and you’re an inconvenience. The doctor doesn’t care either, it’s like a clinic. What a joke. This place needs a new staff.
The staff was nice and both helpful and informational when discussing payment options. The optometrist was straight forward and never felt like he was talking down you.
I agree with the reviews about the horrible customer service at this location. I go for convenience only. Dr Kim is great, but no longer there. So.....I should look for a store with staff who isnt constantly aloof (good word) and a bit condescending. I could go on with other adjectives, but will refrain myself. I dont even know their names, and have used them for years. The same women have been there, pretty much. If employees are unhappy, it reflects onto their customers. Its retail, so respect and acknowledgment is part of your job! They have been miserable, or at least look that way. If a customer doesnt speak up, those girls will straight up ignore you, like making a sale isnt part of their job description...I hope they read these reviews and learn from them.
Adjusted my glasses for free. I didn’t even buy them there. Very helpful.
Not even considering order my glasses here after meet the rude lady at the front desk
Picked out my glasses Tuesday and I’m picking them up today which is Saturday!!! Very affordable and the staff are very nice!!
I went in for an eye exam and to get new contacts. They had told me over the phone that they accept my insurance and when I arrived they told me they did not. I then asked how much an eye exam was without insurance to avoid the hassle of calling around to new places. They told me it was $60 and they would give me a $5 discount. I thought thats not bad, Ill go ahead with it. So I get my exam, and the doctor has me try on contacts. Not informing me that a contact fitting is an extra $60 so my total for the exam was $115 compared to the $55 I was expecting. 3/4 of the staff were rude and not knowledgeable about their services or products. The contacts I ended up with dont work well for me and I am unable to return them. Overall, this was not a good experience and I would never go back.
Because I was late for my appointment I was turned away, not mitigating the fact that there is no signage on the exterior of the building, other than a small 5×5 little sign at the entrance and not taking in account that this covid 19 slows travel time as well as other factors, so to Pearl Vision at 1528 Walnut Street in Center City Philadelphia I give them 1 Star for just being open and the Staff Member before I could open my mouth saying that Im late for my appointment so I cant be seen, but there was a white woman came in late and she was seen, when will it end !!
1. Scheduled an appointment explicitly for a contact lens exam. When I met with the Optometrist, his first question was how are your frames? to which I responded theyre fine, Im here for contacts. He proceeded to do both a glasses lens exam ($70.00) before proceeding to do a contact lens exam ($90.00). How was I to know the difference between instrumentation/testing used for different exams? It wasnt until I paid that I realized I was being charged an additional $70 for a service that I hadnt requested.2. The secretary has been needlessly rude and impatient on two separate occasions which surmises her true lack of professionality rather than potentially having a difficult day.One negative review is an outlier, multiple negatives reviews is a trend.
I dont think theyre very friendly. The doctor was nice when I went for my exam, but the sales ladies sometimes act aloof or elitist (2 out of 3 visits this was my experience). It could just be me being sensitive. I just dont get a friendly vibe from the sales staff. Pearle Vision is already expensive to me, but I go to them because I know the name and most Pearle Visions I have been to in other neighborhoods are really nice. I wont be going to this specific location in the future.
If I could give 0 or negative stars I would. Horrible customer service. I recently went there to seek help regarding a pair of designer sunglasses with peeling polarized coating. I went into the store with my stroller and my then 4 week old baby.1. nobody attempted to help me get in and there are two steps to get into the store. I just got stared at by the staff... 2 people were completely available and doing nothing2. when I explained my problem they had no interest in helping. A young girl at the reception desk just told me that since I have had the glasses for 2 years I should just buy a new pair ($500 dollar sunglasses!)3. finally... after my insistence they went and checked with the tech in the back to see how much replacement lenses would cost. their quote: $256I called the manufacturer (Luxotica) and even out of warranty they quoted me $42 and free shipping for replacement lenses! can you say RIPOFFthus... negative stars on customer service, friendliness or willingness to help... also... nobody helped me hold the door again when I exited the store with the stroller.
Gets 3 stars because of Shane. Without empathy for a young lady extremely worried about her eyes because shed run out of the medication prescribed but because the doctor was on vacation apparently there was nothing they could do. However, there was a fill in doctor who eventually assisted. When brought to her attention, she walked off muttering underneath her breath about how much she didnt care. She didnt need to say it, it was already apparent.
Staff there is very nice at this location. Nancy Fecca The Optical Sales Rep at this location went above and beyond to attend to my needs on selection of glasses, I would definely go back to this location and recommend it to friends.
Let me start by saying that I was 13 mins late due to a protest that was going on in the city. I got to the place and a lady with red hair starts raising her voice with a nasty tone about what is going to happen due to me being late. They take me in, and at this point Im thankful that I get to have my eye exam, so I forget quickly how I was spoken to. When its time to get the exam my phone starts ringing. I apoligize and tried to silence it, but I was interrupted by another loud voice, Turn off that phone so that I can perform the exam! And Dont silence it, turn it off! I couldnt believe that the person doing this is actually the doctor. I managed to play it off well, and did as she said. I regret that decision, I should of got up and walked out of there. She did end up apologizing, but I just felt like the world should know this, specially because on top of the bad experience, the Dr. doesnt explain anything she is doing.
Unlike most other reviewers, I came across no one who was rude or discourteous. Perhaps the criticisms previously posted were read by staff and they have altered the way in which they treat customers. My only criticism is pricing, which is blindingly high, it seems to me. I wanted a basic pair of eyeglasses...nothing designer, no bifocals, no glare free, no scratch resistent. My insurance coverage paid for the first $130 of frames and 20% discount therafter. Even with that, my total cost was $220 for one pair. After charging over $200 for non-designer frames, the insurance reduced the cost to about $60. Then, the basic lenses kicked everything back up another $80 dollars or so. And, they added a lab fee of $80. The lab fee was the cost of putting the lenses on the frames, I guess...which is something like selling petrol for $4 a gallon and then adding a $20 fee to put the petrol in your automobile. At any rate, my insurance, which I thought was generous, still kept the price of one very ordinary and generic pair of eyeglasses over $200, But, everyone was courteous and friendly and the medical exam itself was very competently conducted.
I usually go to Philadelphia vision works, but with my insurance changing they werent in network with them so i ended up having to go to this place. I thought to myself well they are in center city so they have to be good no, not at all!!!!!!! They are not welcoming, they are rude and very short with u.. they explain everything really fast and then rush you to pick out your glasses, I apologized for taking my time, the person gonna say oh no you have to wear the glasses so its ok but this is only after the glasses i picked out were purchased nd i was half way out the door 🤔!!!! I believe the only reason why they are open is because pearle vision is a corporate company if this was family owned they would be long goneee. The crazy part is i use to go to a family owned vision center in secane as well everyone is sweet and welcoming.. NOT THIS PLACE... pushy and rude!!! Then they said they would call me when my glasses were ready they didnt so i called them its been there the whole time i couldve been picked it up... like what in the world!???
Very helpful and professional service!
A tad gruff on arrival, but once signed in very nice. i used to go to the old Rittenhouse location, apparently merged 2 locatons to 16th. appointment went well enough. definitely had a corporate fast food chain element to it, but for a chain it went well. New contact lens prescription is comfortable, will get glasses soon when lenses are ready. They were able to retro fit new lenses into old frames which was nice, last local shop i went to wouldnt, new frames or skip glasses. I felt a bit like they messed up insurance coverage, but still came out affordable. If you dont have a favorite local dr, theyre pretty good. I went to Market st location once years ago, it was awful. So if going with Pearl, this is the best one in CC.
I spoke with a woman by the name of Mary at the new location and she was extremely helpful, professional and patient.
I was recently in this location for an adjustment on Saturday, October 15th. The young lady that helped me was very nice and even gave me some pointers on how to take my glasses on and off so that my glasses wont get out of alignment. I was never told this before in all of my 40 years of wearing glasses. I left very satisfied and will definitely return for my next purchase but only because of her, I believe her name was Cecilia. The other lady needs to be taught a lesson in business ethics. My reason for stating this is because she says to Cecelia to wait on the woman that shes supposed to be waiting on because Cecilia didnt have any commissions all day. I dont feel as though that is anyones business as to how the employees are paid. I guess she was trying to be nice but I feel its in poor taste to blurt out things such as that. There are other things she said that shouldnt be discussed in an office setting but that was the main issue that really upset me.
So professional and kind. The best !
Would be nice if you told your clients that you moved, very inconveniencecalling and no one to tell you whats going on. At least go online and change your address from 17th Walnut to present one @ 15 & Walnut Street.. Unproffessional
Walk-in. Had no issues what so ever. Could use a bit more options for frames tho, very limited.
I needed an appt. Asap - I was instructed to take advantage of their walk-in appt. I was taken care of and had pronto service! Thanks
Good experience
Everyone was so nice.
The receptionist either needs some coaching or she needs to be replaced. Very rude
Do yourself a favor and go to the Market Street Location (on 9th under Gallery Market East). The employees at that location actually care.
