Do not go here, they stole my wife money. Then have the nerve to raise the price of the item. I recommend people go to Omni vision.
This has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The supervisor of this location was very rude and dismissive. My personal information had been misplaced and her attitude about it was very careless. I would never patronize this place again if the supervisor of this location stays employed here. I would much rather spend my money else where
🌴I love that store the staff makes U feel so comfortable as soon as U walk staff will ask U immediately--if U need help - I get my Prescriptions make up there for my eyeglasses & the prices R wonderful - if U go in there and need a repair done usually they dont even charge u - of course unless its something they need to send away - its a Very Happy Friendly environmentBut Professional place for your Eyeglass experience.Thank U🌴Debbie 🌴
The optometrist is great! But the customer service person was not too happy to see an African American and Uyghur interracial couple, so they treated us with a lot of attitude. Not too happy about that. Btw since I’ve already mentioned, google Uyghur.
I never write reviews, but my experience with Eye Encounters in University City has compelled me to write one concerning their lack of care for their customers. I have experienced repeated instances interacting with their front desk staff both in person and on the phone in which I have left feeling terrible, like I was a huge annoyance to them.Side note that being on medicaid in Philadelphia, I have found few eye doctors to take my insurance. I was initially grateful to find Eye Encounters because they did accept United Behavioral Community Plan, but ultimately saddened to learn how they treat people. Zero stars for Eye Encounters. Though I will not be returning, it is my hope that they read these reviews and do better for future customers.
I’ve been to this location twice. I returned because my prescription expired. Both visits didn’t feel very detailed and of the eye doctors I’ve visited, these were definitely my fastest visits and not in a comforting way.However, I am writing this review because I was uncomfortable scheduling an appointment right now with the pandemic still very active, but I needed to so I did. When arriving, there are 3 employees in the front area. One of them had their mask under the nose and one of them had it under their chin. I’m highly disappointed in this as you would think people would be more responsible in that type of environment. I then had my very fast exam and now have my prescription. But I’m not even sure I can get new glasses with it as the “testing lenses” used during the exam were fogging from my own mask. Which the doctor didn’t seem concerned about when I told him that I was having Trouble with the fog. I took the prescription and left as quickly as I could.I’m not happy that I made the uncomfortable decision to have an eye exam. My prescription may not be the best because I wore a mask while some of the people there can’t even wear theirs.
One of the best places to get your glasses. The customer service is pleasant and comfortable. My optometrist was quick, pleasant and full of knowledge. It was a great experience.
I just took my daughter today and had a bad experience. In the process of trying to figure out my insurance details. The guy working the front desk told me he would call the police if I tried to commit insurance fraud. I’m like whoa I’m just trying to get details about our plan. How does getting information about copays leads to being accused of fraud. My daughter gets her exam and like other reviewers said, I was told no information. In and out. I asked the doctor so did her eye sight go down. He was like yeah a lot.
Horrible service. No greetings once you enter, theyre more interested with entertaining each other than providing any customers service. Was given an appointment for a month later, the day before the appointment it was cancelled. Went to 19 and Chestnut, totally different experiences, this will be my eye glass store.
Usually I have a great experience here but when you dont listen to the patient pisses me off and your coworker telling you to do the same thing I said and you still wont listen then its a problem finding some were else to go
The w male receptionist is very rude. Doesnt know how to talk to ppl. Needs to be trained on customer service. Wont come here anymore. The eye counters on 17th and 12th street is much better. They wont treat you like a alien.
This is literally the worst eye clinic - the absolute WORST customer service that hangs up on you. I dont even know how theyre allowed to operate. Ive ordered my contacts a month ago and they’re giving the BS excuse that they waiting for the insurance company. And then they proceed to hang up on a customer. I advise everyone dont come here. It’s not worth your time.
Went here 2 years ago to get my glasses when I received the call that they was done I went to go pick them up & they act like they couldn’t find my glasses Im like I just got a call 5 mins ago saying they was here. After 20 mins of looking they put my glasses in someone else’s bin. I just kindly got my glasses made sure they fit and left never to return.
First I would like to say that the customer service reps are very rude here at this 40th street location. I came in two weeks ago for new glasses and the first representative was very rude. He was Caucasian with glasses and gave me a hard time about my insurance. I asked him if he was able to see what insurance i had from my previous visit and he said “no it doesn’t work like that, ppl come in here all the time and expect us to know their insurance or keep it on file and we don’t”. I said ok well I can just call my employer for the information I work for CHOP, he then got up looked in my chart and found the insurance like I previously asked. That particular rep did later assist with the 2 for 79 dollar deal however the experience was very unpleasant overall and I could tell he was annoyed. Also for such a small office and for the glasses to be right behind where the reps in the store sit I was very confused on why my hold times were 20-30 mins each time I called about my glasses. I would literally call back and then they would forget they even placed you on hold. I also filled my daughters script for glasses here and they weren’t very helpful, it was just “oh we don’t have that many kids glasses here” . I asked the woman during that encounter if I could go to another location of theirs for Childrens glasses and she responds “oh I don’t know.” I understand the world is in shambles right now and everyone is adjusting to new things however that gives no one the right to be rude to customers. In this time we should be even more compassionate towards each other and helpful. I hope this location does better in the future. I am very disappointed with eye encounters. I could tell even more about the experience here but I’m just going to keep it light because people need their jobs right now but please check on your employees and make sure everyone is trying to do their best at this time. I was a bit nervous at first over all the customer service reviews. That was not my experience whatsoever.I was able to order my frames with them, even though I ordered over the phone from out of state. I was kept in the loop while I awaited on my order. I was even able to submit a warranty claim from out of state, and they have been keeping in touch with me throughout the process. They are able to get my frames that I love and only purchased less than a year ago repaired, whereas the manufacturer only offered a 30% discount on a new frame. Thanks Jaye!
Horrible customer service! Been waiting for over a month for my glasses that I of course already paid for! First they took over 2 weeks to get done and I had to constantly call them opposed to them calling me. For starters the store didn’t open on time and the woman was annoyed as if my coming early was an issue and then my glasses were defective and needed to be sent back no it’s almost been 3 weeks and still no glasses and bad attitudes! Don’t walk away from this place, RUN!!!!

I love the selection of glasses in there, but this new staff is so rude they acted like my families of 5 going in there ask for free glasses. The eye doctor never showed up on 07/29/2019 for everyone appointment. I had to report these people to EyeMed. They are so unprofessional from Dr to Staff.
This is maybe the worst interaction I have had with a service member. I tried to make an appointment in person, and the lady behind the desk was unfriendly, unhelpful and combative. I really tried to work with her, but after a while I became irritated and instead of her being helpful, she told me I should leave and find another place to go. The level of unprofessionalism at this office is unparalleled. Would not recommend coming here.
I scheduled an appointment for my two sons when I scheduled the appointment I was never asked if my children was over the age of 8. Fast forward to today 10/31/19 I take them for there 2 o’clock appointment arrive at 1:15 early cause I know paperwork has to be done. I finish my paperwork and they lady say are they over the age 8 lol my children are 5 and 4 and they are average size they look 5 and 4. I received the number from my children doctor it was a whole list and next to eye encounters it says 4yrs and older. Last I made an app with them they failed to tell me the lady that do 4 and under was on Maternity leave so I decided to give them another try. And as I was trying to explain everything and they keep talking over me like I was wrong and one of the ladies said in her defense lol WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT THEY SHOULD’VE ASKED THEY AGES OF MY CHILDREN NOT WASTE MY TIME AND THEN TREAT ME LIKE IM WRONG FOR BEING UPSET.

I told them about my deteriorating vision with my current glasses, but after some minutes of inspection, they told me that my eyes must have gotten worse and that the glasses were fine. Back at my usual optometrist, I got new glasses and can see again like a charm.- Opeartional flaws: Made an appointment, arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait almost 25 minutes before they turned to me- Insurance issues: Had several follow up calls as a Penn student to get my visit reimbursed by the insurance, because the invoice did not meet certain formal criteria.
They provide horrible customer service in person and on the phone. They also have very inappropriate conversations in front of the customers. I tried to give them a few chances, but I will no longer be a customer.
There is a bit of a wait. I arrived early for my 11am appointment to get insurance info, etc. out of the way. The doctor arrived at 11:15. However, the exam/contact lens fitting was awesome, and the people working in the front are super friendly and helpful (and willing to offer an honest opinion on your glasses choice).This is the 3rd location of Eye Encounters in the city, and I think its the best one in terms of the look and feel of the space - its bright and clean and there are plenty of mirrors in between the rows and rows of glasses. I used to be the sort to buy designer frames, but now that I have a pretty strong prescription, the cost of my high index lenses and disposable contact lenses makes that seem silly. So, I love that EE has WALLS of 2for frames. (2 for $79 for a basic prescription, though I paid 2 for $199 for my special lenses). The selection of cheaper frames is always varied and trendy, which I think reflects a nice attention to detail on their part. I walked out of there a few hundred dollars poorer, but I didnt feel like Id been robbed.
My experience with Eye Encounters was smooth, professional & fast. The optometrist explained why I needed the type of lenses I have. The guy at the front desk helped me choose my frames. The entire staff was helpful and concerned.
I called and stated I would lkke to make an apppintment. They out me on hold, then when they picked up, they did not say hello, and immediately hung up. I called back and it said the call cannot be completed as dialed. I think they blocked my number!! 😳

I am nervous as heck to go to anyone other than Dr. Zeitlin as he has been a master eye doc and did the most thorough eye exam I had ever had, then proceeded to deliver glasses that i could actually SEE with after wearing glasses for nearly 25 years. Ill give EE a try. Got my fingers crossed and my prayer beads out!
The examination itself went very well. However, all other aspects of the experience have gone horribly. I went for my initial examination in mid October. I picked out a pair of frames and was told I would receive a phone call when they were in. That phone call never came, so I had to follow up myself, perhaps a month later. When I first tried them on, they were horribly bent, and the front-office staff proceeded to wrench on them to make them fit. I told him I would not be comfortable walking away with that product, and so he said he could send them back to Davis to have the frames replaced. I didnt receive a phone call again for at least a month. When I called and inquired, he said that they were in. I went again. They appeared to be exactly the same frames, and thus naturally didnt fit. He encouraged me to pick out a new set after telling me that the right side of my nose was elevated--a new observation for me. I said that I wasnt interested in a new pair, and kindly asked that he try to return them one more time, or Id take my business elsewhere. Two to three weeks later I still hadnt received a phone call (I was promised a one-week turnaround time), so I called my insurance provider directly. It turns out the front office staff member lied about the frames I picked out being an insurance-provider product. Instead, he filed the claim under a site-provided frame and charged me the allotted amount I have for a non-participating frame. As such, my insurance provider had no record of having received the frame for replacement or repair. In all likelihood, then, the front office staff lied about having returned the frames to be repaired. I feel for the optometrist at this site; she acted like a professional. The front office staff, however, have been dishonest and unprofessional. I would encourage you to take your business elsewhere.
This place is the worst. All Dr Zeitlin patients beware. Customer service is horrible!!!!!. I came in for my appointment today and the gentleman at the front was very rude . I had to speak to the manager about him who happened to be very nice.. Unfortunately because of the rudeness of this place I decided not to have anything done. FIRST IMPRESSION IS A LASTING IMPRESSION. From the time I walked in the atmosphere was not very professional.

Please do not waste your time coming to this place. They dont keep up with appointments. I went to an appointment that was supposed to be scheduled and they didnt know that I was supposed to be there. Plus upon my visit they had the wrong specialist there for me she had no idea what she was doing. So finally decide to give him another chance. I come and get my eyes checked out and I was told that I should get my contacts within 2 weeks two months later no contact I just decided to leave them alone. Please try not to do business with them they are completely unprofessional. Stay away. I have no idea how they keep a business running like this.

Took my prescription in with my frames after two weeks no one could tell me any information after four weeks Mia said I think we lost the frames not exactly in those words because first it was my fault and you could’ve left them here, this is my fault because I was already told never to use them they gave me a headache and I still don’t have my glasses now I have to go somewhere else and get another because if I went there I would just go ballistic stay away stay away.

They are the worst eye glasses center ever. Seriously I am being their customer for 2 years and they dont even know how to talk the right way. Dont even make glasses or contact lenses with them.
I had a eye exam from eye encounters about a year age, since then i had to go back 4 times, every pair of glasses i got from them broke. I am very frustrated with this company, their is no way that i should be on my 4th pair of glasses within a years time. I will never go back their again and i would not recomend none of my friends or family members to go their.
Incompetent workers. placed an order a week before hand and didnt receive a call that it came so i called them and turns out they never put the order in. The staff was also watching youtube videos while talking to me.

The skinny caucasian lady is rude and arrogant, very unprofessional. She only cares about going home and not the patients. I seen multiple people leave the store angry because of her including myself.

I agree with all of the customer service reviews above. I unfortunately did not leave and went ahead with my appointment. It did not get better. It appears that they have lost my frames, prescription is no where to be found, AND they have no record of my visit :(
