I was in town from MD visiting with my fathers who is having medical issues. After my visit with him, I decided to take a walk down Germantown Ave in Chestnut Hill. I came across The Antique Gallery as it caught my attention. A Caucasian man (owner perhaps) that was sitting at a desk just inside the store asked me if I was fully vaccinated and I told him that I was. All went well as he seemed to be very nice. I made my purchase of a beautiful necklace and earrings and went on my way. This was last Wednesday. This Saturday, my family came to Philly and I was telling them about The Antique Gallery and we all decided to go to go there. I was very excited to take my family to the gallery. We walked in and was asked the vaccine question. We are an African American family going about the normal way of exploring the gallery to find what appealed to us. Suddenly, we all heard the owner speak loudly to someone on the phone that there were just some lookers walking around. We were all shocked and insulted by what we all heard as we were in separate areas of the gallery. There was a Caucasian woman in there as well and she also heard the comment. Needless to say we left without making any purchases, A few minutes later, we saw the woman that was in the gallery outside. She expressed to us that she was also shocked by his comment. I still had the jewelry that I purchased a few days prior in my purse. There was absolutely no way I could wear this jewelry without remembering this mans rude comment. Of course I returned my purchase and will not shop there again,

Steer clear of this store, if possible. My husband picked up a silver corkscrew for me there, and was a little stunned when he found out that it was a $267 corkscrew. I missed the 10 day (!) store credit window, but figured I could easily get a fair price online. Except I found that this make and model is more like a $30 corkscrew, or probably less given the significant flaking on the finish. That’s closer to swindling than it is to garden-variety upselling, and it frankly makes me feel rather ill. Needless to say, this isn’t a place either of us will ever patronize again.

Great Store! Owner is a sweet, kind man. I will be returning in the future.

The man running the shop was extremely rude; I went into the shop with not a clear picture of exactly what I was looking for as most people do not when antique shopping. His first question was “Are you vaccinated?” In which I replied I was and offered to show my card.After some browsing, he very rudely asked if I have something specific in mind and I told him I had my eye out on jewellery boxes and he accused me of not having picked any up—after I had spent a good 15 mins going through some!?He then proceeded to kick me out because he apparently does not want people browsing??? I understand we are still in a pandemic but both of us were wearing mask and I am vaccinated. I was actually about to spend money on a few things right before he kicked me out. Perhaps one should have a sign that says “By appointment only.”

I was in the shop with my two mixed children when the owner asked if I was their babysitter, just because I’m white. He then proceeded to ask if I have my vaccine and kicked me out of the store when I told him no. In other words, I will not be returning.

The owner is the sweetest man ever!!! In passing as we were shopping he heard my friend and I were amateur glassblowers and showed us some of his collection, taught us about each artist, and the methods used to make each piece by them! Fantastic! And on top of that, he treated us both to lunch! Will never forget that, such kindness! :) Plus incredible and affordable finds, walked away with some beautiful jewelry for a very reasonable price! Highly highly recommend paying them a visit!

Very rude.

They have all kinds of cool decorative art from African American memorabilia to French Art Glass to American pottery. They also have all kinds of specialized gifts like antique silver and a variety of beautiful antique jewelry. They are very knowledgeable and will help you with anything you need! Definitely coming back next time Im anywhere close to Philadelphia.

What a great business Jerry and Barb run! Very professional and knowledgeable people with excellent people skills. The Antique Gallery has a little bit of everything. You can see their inventory on-line and they ship all over the world! Daniel does an excellent job helping out!

There is no place to shop anywhere like this store. It offers unique collectibles ranging from museum pieces to an unbelievable assortment of costume jewelry. Pretty sure they told me that they have over 2000 pair of clip earrings for sale. The owner is in the shop and he is quite engaging and charming.

This store is incredible! They have everything from antique thimbles to ming vases! Gerry (the owner) and his partner Barbara have a very in-depth knowledge and are always happy to share with anyone that comes into the store... I would highly recommend a trip to the store for any up coming occasion you might have to find that perfect, unique gift!

So much to see here! You really have to take your time to soak up and enjoy all around you!
