Great deals on plants but not a big selection. I was expecting to find sun plants or roses and they didnt carry any. Got a great deal on tomato plant thou. Looked at grills. Priced about the same or higher than other places.

Chad was extremely knowledgeable and patient in answering all of our questions. He spent over an hour with us sharing his knowledge. The employees also allowed us time to shop despite being very close to closing time. We will definitely make the drive to this store again.

I recently purchased a Bad Boy Mower from Brent and Cody at the Sutherlands in Olathe. They were very helpful and super knowledgable about the mower. Cody was especially helpful and took all the time I needed to answer questions and show me the various features. I bought the mower Friday evening and Cody delivered it to my house on Saturday morning. I am thankful for the great service and awesome attitude these guys demonstrated, it made my purchasing experience easy and enjoyable.

Very pleasantly surprised to find lower prices than Home Depot on lumber at least and a very friendly and helpful staff. I live very close, so this is my new go-to hardware store!

Incredibly friendly staff, great looking store, and excellent grill selection! We called prior to stopping in and the representative we spoke with found the item on the shelf we were looking for to ensure it was in stock. He then checked on us while we were checking out and treated my son to some candy. Definitely don’t find that friendliness and service everywhere!

I had been wondering why the parking lot was always empty when I drove by. I walked in the store this morning, six employees were at the front counter, not one person greeted me or ask if they could help as I walked in. I walked around the store looking for ladders, finally give up and walked out.As I left, the six employees were still there, not one of them even noticed me.I am pretty sure I was the only customer in the store!

Love the store. Good selection, very clean. Might have been a little short-staffed for a Saturday afternoon, as I had some problems finding someone to answer a question. The checkout line was also a bit hectic, as people didn’t know if it was one line or two for the open registers.

Today wasnt my best or typical visit to Sutherlands. I called before going to see when the flower sale started and if they had any moonflowers or creeping phlox.The first girl I spoke with said shed check and be right back. Her be right back lasted until the phone had been on hold so long it rang back. I talked to a boy this time and explained I was waiting for someone who was checking stock for me. He ask what and said the lady in charge of the nursery was right there. He came right back and said we dont have the plants but we do have the seeds . Fine by me, Ill start them inside.Upon arrival there were no carts in the store they appeared to be all in the parking lot. Seeds arent heavy, Ill survive. I went through all the seed displays and they didnt have them and no one in sight to help. I remembered I needed to get finch food and grabbed 2 very heavy bags. I have a heart condition and it was unbearably hot in the store. I made it to the cashier who was very nice. I was sweating profusely and she ask if I was OK. Uhm, no, I feel like Im going to pass out so she tells me shell hurry. All in all, not the best experience. Dianne

My family and I relocated to Kanas from California and purchased our house in Olathe.I have purchased small and larger project items always checking Sutherlands first. We absolutely love Sutherlands. My 5 year old calls it the green store. Everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to assist. I will always pick Sutherlands before any other home improvement store. The great customer service says a lot about the management.

I gave 2 stars because I dont use the word hate otherwise would of given one after the way I was treated. I joined the garden club and was issued a $5 off $25 coupon. When I was checking out the cashier took my phone scanned the coupon I thought and when the transaction was at the end asked her did she get the coupon she assured me she did and total was given and I paid. When I went to my car I took a minute to look at the receipt because the account in my head wasnt even near what I paid. I noticed she didnt actually take the coupon off so I went back in had to wait in line again and once I got back to cashier explained to her that she hadnt taken coupon off. She took my receipt told me she did when she in fact had not. Then she all of a sudden decided my coupon had been used the total coupon was taken off each item and so I explained to her it had not been taken off each item because I paid what the items cost on the shelf. She began to get hateful rude and quite disrespectful. Rolling her eyes she picks up the phone by her register and calls someone going on about how I was wrong and my coupon all of a sudden didnt qualify for my purchase because A plant I got for $2.49 was actually on sale regularly $2.99. I mean really if thats the case why didnt she tell me this from the very beginning the first time I was in the store in line paying and her taking my phone and the coupon. So I left without my coupon being valid anymore because she made it that way and DIDNT even get to use it! Came home and then I realized she over charged me for 3 more plants then I actually had. I MEAN REALLY!! They werent terribly expensive plants but its the point I guess and the way she treated me was honestly appalling then not honoring my coupon and then making it so I never could use the coupon was just an insult and then over charging me on top of it! I believe my time at Sutherlands has come to a CLOSE at this point. I guess when they moved from Santa fe to 151st street they left their kindness behind!! The gal in the gardner center was very kind and helpful its ashame they have someone so rude at the end of the experience because it honestly has left me disappointed and extremely annoyed at the way I was treated after spending my hard earned money here. So much Ill most likely avoid Sutherlands at all cost. There is nothing worth being treated like I was!! Overcharged and a coupon thats no good anymore because the cashier made it like I used it which I didnt because she didnt take it off and then over charging me for 3 plants! Then treating me like Im the problem if she would of done her job correctly in the first place we wouldnt even be here in this position at all! Nothing worth this kind of treatment EVER!!! Honestly Id think twice before overspending here because thats actually the second time since theyve reopened Ive had an issue this one was just too much to not say something! ABSOLUTELY A HORRIBLE WAY TO TREAT A PAYING CUSTOMER! Especially when I was nothing but kind and even gave you the benefit of the doubt more then once!

Nice, clean, new, and friendly staff. Limited options in some areas, but they are close and convenient and typically have what I need in a pinch. Prices are slightly higher when compared to other big box hardware stores, but the environment is nice and the people are always friendly and helpful.

I probably should give 2 stars versus 1 star but poor service irks me. I asked the clerk did they sale moth balls. She said no. I walked right down the cleaning aisle and there they were. She didnt even check.

Been a big fan of Sutherlands for years. Was sad when they closed Olathe store about five years ago. This new store is layed out very well and has a decent medium priced furniture section.They have the best quality of wood of any big box stores!I plan on doing my part to build up their new store.

Bought mulch and spout drains, wasnt crowded for a Sunday. Prompt and were able to get assistance quickly.

Staff is always so nice and knowledgeable. We love how they care about their people and dont try to hide from their customers when they are looking for something. I can easily find what I need. So many unique things about coming here rather than going to home depot or lowes. Id rather come here first everytime. I never get hassled about not wearing a mask(I cant wear one anyway). And they are so helpful and not condemning like big companies. I will always choose local and Southerland s is amazing!!

Wife bought a $20 door knob, didnt need it after all. Took it to the store w/out a receipt and figured I could just get store credit. Didnt happen, searched the last 4 of every credit card that we have a couldnt find record of the purchase. Came back a few days later WITH THE RECEIPT..and couldnt give me cash or even store credit. Said I needed to have the card that the knob was purchased with and that they could only credit the card. Its my wifes card, she wasnt with me so again I left with nothing. I was going to purchase more than $20 worth of items if I could somehow get my money back. Now I will have my wife go, get the credit on the card, and take my business elsewhere. Too bad because this location is so convenient, but the return policy certainly is not. I wonder what the policy is if I would have written a check?

They are just a little too high on their merchandise but thats the least of our problems their staff needs to be a little more friendlier but outside of that theyre good store to deal with and they do have great merchandise.

Im sorry to hear that this store didnt have a handicap rider. So I wasnt able to shop. Im handicap and cant walk around.Thank you anyway

Sutherlands is my go to store for DIY needs. This is the one store that actually helps me find what I need. I have been ignored for years as a woman. Now as an older woman Im invisible. Thank you for recognizing women do their own repairs too.

I prefer coming here over Home Depot and Lowes. The customer service is great and someone always has an answer to my question. They have a wide variety of items from home decor to lumber to garden supplies.

Great staff; they offered to assist my wife and I move lumber to our car. It’s pricey, but quality!

Recently purchased quite a few of the hanging baskets during the sale. Five of them have disintegrated. Dont really know what happened. The same thing happened to my friend. This is the first year I have had this problem.

This new location is really good and has a great selection. Prices found to be in line with all the big box stores.

Great service, wide aisles, clean store. Plenty of green shirts around for help. Some pallets/boxes block the aisles, but were quickly moved. Check them out. More inviting than larger big box HW stores.

Serious rude employees that don’t want to work. One tenth the size of other home improvement stores so what you are looking for is probably not there. Remember, your haircut depicts the service you’ll get. I was there 5 minutes ago and dropped the items I was going to purchase and walked out.Rude employee couldn’t stop for a second and tell me where the clamps were. (Jerk) Never going back. Lesson learned.

2nd time at the 151st & Murlen (Olathe, KS) and both times were a poor experience. Staff was not helpful and were rude. We were trying to buy furniture and when I finally found someone to help, she asked her colleague if he wanted to load it and he said “not really” right in front of us. The cashier was rude, too. I don’t usually write reviews but OMG, these people need some customer service training!! 11/28/20.

Not the best hardware store. The people arent helpful or knowledgeable. I ordered a large piece of wood. It took about 30 minutes to figure out a price, then they couldnt tell me when it would be delivered to the store. I dont know, depends on what else is coming this way on the truck He wasnt the guy who normally takes care of special orders, but I will be sticking with Lowes. Sutherland s prices are outrageous also!

Really wanted to like this place because they’re closer than other big box building material stores. I tried to get help finding a specific machines bolt for over 30 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. There were 3 times more employees than there were customers but everyone either pretended they didn’t hear me and kept walking or just pointed me in the direction of hardware but wouldn’t help find the actual bolt I needed.

Going to the olathe store was by far the best help I have ever gotten at a home improvement store. The gentleman that helped me was honest that he was still learning about the product but he made sure that I got all the information I was looking for. The store was super clean and well organized.

Even though they just opened and are still getting inventory on the shelves, the variety of products is amazing! I found several things Id looked for at other stores and hadnt found (including a light-sensing bulb for my porch), and everything was very well priced!The staff were very helpful, the store was clean and well lit, and the products were arranged in a very sensible manner. I will definitely be back for the rest of my remodeling needs!!

My wife and I needed lumber for our deck. We were replacing the flooring. They had the 2X6X20 that we needed. Let us pick out the boards we wanted and delivered when we wanted. Great service.

Very clean fully stocked store. New store so staff still in training mode. I was disappointed that store couldnt cut two 2X8 into 4 foot lengths due to saw not functioning but repair man was working on it. Prices average for big box lumber yard. Ill shop there again soon.
