El Panzote is a small place, kind of out of the way but is incredibly worth the visit. The food is amazing, fresh, authentic. The owner Daniel is a very nice guy and really cares about his customers. They have a lot of interesting side items as well like desserts and other food items you wouldnt find in a chain. If you are looking for a quaint, authentic place to enjoy some incredible food, you have to try this place.

Beef burrito .... you get dry rice, a choice of unflavored pinto or black beans, and absolutely flavorless stew meat... no onions, peppers, lettuce, sour cream, queso, cilantro, etc on your $9.50 burrito!

The place is like a hidden gem. The taste felt very authentic and a very clean place. The restrooms are perfectly clean.

Great place right off of K7. Excellent service. The new management is super friendly and accommodating, helping us choose typical dishes from Mexico or El Salvador while avoiding too much spice for the kids. We loved finding a place to get pupusas in Olathe. They were excellent and cheesy, clearly made with love by a native Salvadoran. The bathroom was clean and we plan to return to enjoy the patio some evening soon. They also make 100% authentin quesadilla (Central American bread)

I kind of expected more from the little hole in the wall style restaurant that is El Panzote, but every time Ive gone in no one is there to take your order, and I got my food in pretty small portions that didnt seem too fresh. That being said, they have excellent breakfast.

We moved here from Texas and this is the ONLY place with authentic Mexican food. Absolutely BUENO!

Small Mom and Pop shop that is well worth some patience at times. Its very close to homemade taste and I love the Carne Asada Huarache. Its an open faced gordita basically and its thumbs up for me.

Really great authentic mexican. Not swimming in sauces. Chicken burrito was excellent, makes you ask how chipotle ever became a thing. Al pastor taco was my favorite. Chorizo taco was really good, but needed a bit of hot sauce. Cheese quesadilla hadots of good cheese in it. Liked both the red and green sauce. The green was a little spicier than the red. Cozy but clean atmosphere.

They spoke English...barely. But! Thats not necessarily a bad thing. It gives a bit of romance to this hidden gem. Anything and everything this place makes is awesome... All of it! Dont forget that they have other food besides the bakery fair. They have wonderful lunch and dinner. All you have to do is order. ✌️

We loved this little restaurant and bakery! The tiny room has half a dozen tables, and the top of the walls are lined with pictures of the food on the menu. Our waiters English may not have been perfect but he made up for it by warmth, sincerity and helpfulness. Many of the menu items I have never seen in a chain Mexican restaurant. The menu items were often noted to be Veracruz style.

The food is authentic Mexican. I just introduced my wife and kids to it tonight and they LOVED it. We had tostadas, empanadas, and tamales, and pineapple and mango sodas. The owners are amazing, honest, and kind. The restaurant is easily accessible from Old 56, right next to Johnnys BBQ. Will probably go again by the end of the week.

We pass this restaurant/bakery almost everyday since we live a few miles away! My husband I decided to stop by on Sunday evening and we were pleasantly surprised! We were the only ones there and it brought me back to our trips to Mexico! The place was very clean and the service was great! The menu is plastered all over the walls with pictures! My husband ordered a steak burrito and I ordered a chicken quesadilla! Our order took a little longer than expected but we didnt mind! The food itself was delicious! It was flavorful without being too spicy! They also sell shakes/smoothies and lots of desserts and bakery items! We didnt try any this time but that gives us an excuse to come back again

Hands down the best pork tamales that Ive ever had. They mix some blend of herbs into the corn layer around the pork that just makes it incredible. The burritos are huge and full of flavor.Very economical way to eat solo or with the whole family.I would recommend it to anybody.

From the outside I thought it was a mom and pop general stores, till I walked in one day and had the best Mexican food ever, REAL Mexican food I felt like I went to Mexico in my own backyard. Im a life time customer now.

Our new best Mexican restaurant in Olathe. Fish tacos were possible the best i have ever had. Lightly toasted tortilla with fresh celantro, lime and jalapino and crispy mild fried fish. Yummy. The toeta ahogada was a new adventure and it paid off. Spicy and creamy layers of bread and vegetables with shredded pork underneath forced my husband to stuff himself. Hot and mild red and green sauces on the table were tasty and flavorful. Plantains were a little oily but still good with cheese and cream as the finish to dinner. Horchata was uniquely done. This is a must stop off the beaten path of Mexican food in Kansas City. Also try the Jamaica drink or hybiscus tea. It has a refreshing cranberry flavor.

Stopped by this place and I was glad I did. Great food and service too. Will go back again.

We had lunch at this Mexican restaurant. This is like eating in their dining room...it is a small, clean building off the beaten path...The menu is, most definately, authentic Mexican food...they way it is made in Mexico. We will, definately, return.

I’m pleased with the experience when I eat there, except that the owner doesn’t have the minimal customer services skills, he’s in a bad mood at all times, treats bad his employees and forces you to tip him and if you don’t he will make comments to make you feel stingy. One without jalapeño and one with them on the sideThey put jalapeño in both of them they put cilantro and cabbage. I have never eaten a torta with that usually they go with lettuce and tomato. Only one had avocado. We paid $8 for something we didnt even finish eating.I decided to try the ice cream I asked for one scoop one flavor and the other scoop another flavor thinking they did it like every other ice cream store. The man proceeded to tell me I paid for one scoop. I told him what flavor still thinking it was just a large scoop. It wasnt. Think of an at home regular size ice cream scoop. I paid $2.69 for half a scoop of ice cream.Their food is just as bad as their service and I will never go back even if they offer me free food.Its your decision if you want to go eat here.

Delicious authentic food. Recommend the Tortas de Pierna de Puerco. They are delicious and has a large portion for the price. All is priced very affordable. Cute clean dining area. Can also order takeout.
