Delicious and huge vegan menu! They have all the best meat, cheese and butter alternatives. All the lettuce, veg and fruit was super fresh. A small order mixup was handled very well and everyone is very courteous. The food came out sooo fast even while the place was packed. With nothing else open with vegan options in the area, this diner is the obvious choice for vegan and veg.
I love local places like this, you know your in a local favorite when you see every table filled. The staff is awesome, I ordered the Hearty breakfast and told the waitress I wanted bacon for my meat she then asked about the other items and I said whatever you choose Im good with my meal was awesome. My wife had the BTL, son had Belgian waffle and my mom had the 2-2-2 everything came out quickly, the portions were large and tasted great. From now on if Im going through Ocala this is the spot Im going too to eat. I also love the fact that I could contribute to First Responders eating while on duty.
Today is my birthday, so my daughter treated me to breakfast along with my husband, and her son, my grandson. We like to support local businesses and because of all the positive reviews we were looking forward to our first dining experience here, however we were very disappointed. I was not impressed with my breakfast, nor were my 3 dining companions. My daughters omelete was brown, meaning the eggs were overcooked, the veggies inside were mush, my and my husbands scrambled eggs werent so scrambled, they were actually cooked marbled (and they were cold) and the bacon was limp and not one bit crispy. Sadly we wont be returning to Ocala Downtown Diner.
Absolutely incredible experience. I was looking for a quick vegan lunch stop on the way back to Georgia.The vegan menu here is incredible!! I wish we had something like this near me.I got the Chikn, bacon, ranch burger with sweet potato fries. It was SO good. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. Also Im a huge iced tea fan and the tea was on point!My boyfriend got a chicken dish with broccoli and fries and loved it too.This is a great spot for every diet! So glad we stopped here and I cant wait to come back!
Walked in it was somewhat busy. We stayed for 15 minutes or more. We only were asked what we would like to drink and then someone would come take our order. We waited and I saw everyone getting their food which was fine and us thinking “oh good someone is going to ask for our order.” NOPE!! Girls just kept walking behind the counter looked into our direction multiple times. THEN 2 GIRLS run off to the bathroom together. The guys next to us were almost done with their food and the restaurant was clearing out. SO WE WALKED OUT! There was 4 employees working on top of another employee coming in.Also they cared more about their reserved seating then their customer service.

Great local dinner. All day breakfast, huge burgers and a surprisingly very vegan menu to boot! They were even offering pay It forward meals for first responders local to the area :-)
Awesome food, chill atmosphere. Great Vegan and GF options, so you really arent missing out. Staff is awesome. Quick seating, even quicker service, not a long wait for the food either.
Went in there for lunch and had a great experience. Ask for Maureen. She is a hoot. Try their spicy ketchup. They have original cakes. For example, blueberry flapjack cake. We will be eating there again and we live in Daytona Beach.
Food was tasty and well prepared albeit a little on the pricey end which is the reason for 4 star rating as opposed to 5 star. They also have a sign posted in front which Im including in the pictures so that potential patrons can make an informed decision when deciding where they want to eat. Service was friendly and the music was on point and really felt like a true diner.
Great food, great service and not real expensive. Only open for breakfast and lunch but some darn good food. I will be going back

They have a whole vegan menu! We tried the Philly Cheese Steak, The Onion barbecue burger, the pancakes and the chicken and waffles. Everything was good.

Loyal customers specifically visiting often for their awesome Vegan menu. Summer is the best waitress and a pleasure to talk with.Recently made a trip for my birthday, when asked I was told a piece of cake would be free like it is @ 99.9% of businesses.Staff literally sang to me and charged me for my cake after telling me it was free 🥺.Deuces, my our business is going elsewhere moving forward. Quality and portion size have been declining past 3 visits.
What a delightful little place, off the beaten path. The food was yummy and the service was fast, friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. The veggie omelet was packed with vegetables, and the side of sausage patties made it a perfect breakfast. The grits were perfectly cooked.Important to note: they accept credit/debit cards, but there is a slight upcharge, so bring cash if you want the lower price.

Great customer service and the atmosphere is nice and retro and i am definitely into that which is finished off with the music that plays throughout. The menu is a bit more extensive than i expected from a place with diner in the name and is completed with neatly named items covering both breakfast and lunch but however with the restaurant closing at 3 pm, no dinner items obviously. We always try for local owned restaurants and this place is definitely the best i have found in my hometown. We will definitely return again when i am home. We ordered the poutine for an app for the 3 of us, i ordered the “Pappy Jacks steak and onions” with sweet potato fries, friend ordered the “bacon and the bird” also with sweet fries.

The food is decent. But they have 0 order in this location. You wait forever ever to be helped and to get your food. I’ve watched people cut other people in line. Get it together y’all need better management.
I was greeted once I walked up to the counter, waitresses were busy but friendly. My order was promptly taken. Food arrived after about 12 minute wait, piping hot and exactly what I ordered. My waitress offered extra condiments and asked how it was. Absolutely love the friendly vibe and the amazing food. I will definitely return for the veggie omelet!
My son is Vegan no nuts gluten free. We side tripped from Interlachen to this restaurant. The wait staff was knowledgeable and able to make recommendations. The food was good. Honestly, there arent a lot of choices for him in this area so we were surprised to find so many choices. A complete vegetarian menu with some vegan choices. Restaurant theme I think is route 44. All around good experience.

My boyfriend and I were on our way to the beach and had to stop somewhere quick for breakfast. Not only were they quick and extremely friendly, but they had Gluten Free options for me as well! The environment was 50’s themed and so cute, will definitely be coming back!
Good local family restaurant. Small dinning area, but most people are willing to wait. Good service, good prices, and good food portions that wont bust your wallet. Was visiting from out of town, good local favorite, would patronize again.
We really enjoy this place. Stopped for breakfast today. Husband got the Hearty Breakfast with a pancake & biscuits and gravy. I got the loaded breakfast burrito. The burrito is huge and stuffed with goodness. I could not finish it all. The husband loved his breakfast. This place makes the most incredible pancakes. They are flavorful all on their own even before you add syrup. Never had anything bad. And the staff here are always the nicest.
I ordered steak and eggs my steak tasted like it was on its way to rotten. Nice staff but couldnt eat the steak. Plus they charge $3 for a glass of tea
The vegan options are plentiful and great. Definitely coming back when Im in town. Staff is also very nice and peak hours didnt effect their attitude, which is a lot to ask for. Well deserved 5/5.
Fantastic food very reasonable prices you will be full after eating 6 people in our group$40.00 breakfasts for us all friendly folks 1st responders eating there so you know ots good food also buy a coupon while your there for the 1ST responders to pay a meal forward only $ 7.00 and they get a great meal enjoy
The food and service was great here. If I had to think of one complaint it would be the sweet tea was it sweet or strong enough but I do believe that is a personal preference and not anything that they had messed up. Im Southern I like it strong and sweet. But heres a picture of my breakfast the spuds is what they call their taters and it has a delicious seasoning to them. I could have just an order them alone.Also I think they have the largest coffee mug.
This place was awesome! I had the waiver burger and it was spicy AND delicious, instead of forgoing flavor for spice, and the sweet potato fries were amazing. My son had the hearty breakfast and everything was top notch. An excellent breakfast experience!

Not impressed the fries were good but that chicken sub left a lot to be desired it was chicken nuggets not a patty or breast .
First off the food wasnt great, it wasnt terrible, but wasnt great at all, it tasted overcooked, unseasoned, and just overall tasteless and bland. We also had the waiver burger, which was more sweet than spicy, a child could have eaten that and not even react to it. Most importantly, most of the servers seemed polite, OURS HOWEVER, was absolutely terrible, the entire time she had a terrible attitude, treated us very disrespectfully as if we were a burden on her. Lastly, for a restaurant who claims to be vegan, they have a small vegan menu that almost seems not worth a single glance.
Best food, atmosphere and service in Ocala!!! Amazing! We all had something different. Everything was absolutely delicious, hot and timely. Imagine placing a to go order over the phone and not only is everything right but it tastes amazing!! I had this experience here today. Great little mom and pop restaurant. The staff was friendly, the price was awesome for what you get and the food was fresh, hot and tasty. I will definitely order from here again! Thanks for a good experience.

I was very surprised that there was an extensive vegan menu in this amazing place. This is a hidden gem in Ocala and honestly, with this place, whenever I am up north riding MTB with my friends, there is no need for anything else. I am happy and content that this place has literally everything I would search for. Even vegan cake! Oh and did I mention how incredibly delicious it is? I tried the vegan chicken waffles, lemon cake and the Philly sandwich and it was EPIC! Now I am always excited to ride in Ocala because I know this place is here. The only thing I think its missing is extended hours. Sometimes my friends and I get off the trail and we want to eat here but it is already closed after 2 or 3pm. Other than that, absolutely love this place!

Well known by locals, the Ocala Downtown Diner offers an excellent assortment of choices for breakfast and lunch. Fast, friendly service is the standard with enough staff to make it consistent. The food is tasty and a good value except for the early bird special, which is a GREAT value.
