Oh my God!!!! How horrible. Theres no words to describe the staff. I have never given a one-star review to anywhere and Ive been a million places outside of the US and inside. The store was a total mess with things thrown all over the floor everything was out of place. And when we finally went to pay there was no line to follow and the employees didnt seem to care. When I went to the register this tall bald man didnt even greet me or acknowledge us. He started breathing hard when I asked him for a price on something that didnt have a price. And then he continued to exhale every time he threw something in the bag as if we were bothering him. He kept rolling his eyes as if this was the hardest job in the world. His coworker was pretty much the same way. This is truly scraping the bottom of the barrel for employees. It was the most disgusting store I have ever been to in the chain of Dollar general. Of all the businesses that have closed in Northport this should have been the first one!

Nice clean store with a variety of products. Cashier was pleasant and friendly. They do have a self serve check-out, however it was hidden behind the line waiting for the cashier. Even if you could get to it, its not very private or any way to social distance as we are to do now, since it is right where you stand in line to check-out with the cashier as well. Otherwise I would give them a five star.

Nice, convenient neighborhood store. Good variety of products. I like hitting the $1 aisle. Clover Valley, their store brand, makes products comparable to many big name brands.

Much better now they added a self checkout machine. Long lines no matter what time you go in there. Very busy store.

This is a huge Dollar General, but not the one closest to us unfortunately. I love Dollar General because you can get cheap, great stuff!

Im going to start going to the other North Port location. Employees are always talking amongst themselves basically ignoring the customers. I called with a question...no answer. Ive been calling for over an hour now still no answer. Most of their shelves are bare 90% of the time. Id be livid if I was the manager of this store.

Usually 1 cashier. Line is all the way to the other end of store everytime I go there which is a lot and no matter what day or hour.my 11 yr old son was told house ebt card without an adult. My friend bought beer and got carded. He s 71!! And they run your Id for warrants!! Never heard of such things.

Wow I was looking for Bit O Honey. The young man working behind the counter really went out of his way to find your one dollar item for me. So I had been looking to spend $6 today. Didnt get the candy but spent $20 because of his dedication to his job.

The only reason they got one star is because there isnt a zero star rating. Ive been to hundreds of Dollar General stores throughout the Atlantic states and ALL of them use cunning strategies to cheat the consumer. The posted prices are nearly ALL higher at the register. Also, they will have the same item in different locations WITHIN THE SAME STORE, but at different prices. At the end of the day, we the consumer will save money if we simply shop somewhere else.

Must be inventory time. The store was in disarray, lots of empty shelves, and I couldnt find the items I went specifically there for... Clean up you act, Dollar General, North Port.

Since I last wrote this, I have a bit of disappointment with the store. Products appear to of increased in price and this is on a quarter of the stores merchandise. Fact is, i can go to Publix and find lower priced products on this stuff considering, pkg size, weight, ounces, etc Convenient stores are, like Race Track, 711, etc, and we expect them to be higher than grocery stores, but not a store that has marketed itself as a discount store. Perhaps they are striving in a new direction and will change their name to, Thirty Dollar Convenience Store. This change has occurred in the last six weeks.People do refer to this store as a convenience store, myself included, but it markets as a discount store. I might add, their ordering could be better on certain items; they seem to run out of those items on a regular basis.The employees there are friendly, helpful, and nice, especially when you consider they deal with many People in a busy store while standing on their feet, all-day- long,Which are dumb corporate rules-- I would imagine. I have been there, and done that.Old Review:Variety of products, like: kitchen gadgets, housewares, storage containers, pet accessories, food stuff, dry goods, frozen, dairy, papers products, cleaning supplies, over the counter Pharmaceuticals, candy, soda, make-up, pet supplies. Parking lot is large and well planned with two entrances. This place gets busy, very busy sometimes, but they do have a good checkout system so you dont stand in line long. A convenient store with a larger selection than most convenient stores.

There were lots of items on clearance which is great. I liked how big the store was. I just wish the lighting was a little bit better. I will return to this store when Im in the area again and I need something.

Convenient, but ALWAYS busy. Even if u need just 1 thing, plan on being there for quite a while. NEVER ENOUGH CASHIERS! Line guess over 10 or more, and still only 1 cashier. Convenient yes, in location only!

The place was great. Our waiter was fantastic. Our first time ever there and we will be back. The food was the best seafood I had had in a long time.

06/01/2020 - Removed 2 stars! This place has gone down the dumper. Its dirty, poor selection and understocked. Make the trip to Price Blvd and Cranberry if you want a better, cleaner experience with plenty of stock.This is my neighborhood Dollar General. Its great for small quick shopping trips when you dont want to go to Publix for a big shopping. The only thing I dont like about this store is it could be a little cleaner (its less than 3 years old) and the register set up is a pain in the a! There are no defined lanes so people cut and its annoying!I recommend you sign up for their digital coupons. They always have a $5 off $25 coupon every week, but their app also has other coupons. I just saved $24 off an order...or 40% (and I even missed a $5 coupon...ugh!). Some people dont realize you can use coupons at a discount store. Mo money, mo money so you dont have to use yo money!

Store as a rule is clean and neat, usually well stocked. Staff is friendly and efficient.It is smaller than Publix or Winn Dixie and easier to find things as I am disabled.

Clean and friendly service

Easy to navigate through the isles, but checking out can be slow. Normally there is only one person ringing everyone out while you watch other employees walk right passed you or simply ignore the line of people and continue to do the other mundane task that could wait till after theyve rang out customers.

The store is new and still suffering from personnel finding the stock and where to guide customers. Because of that they appeared a bit short with people. I believe once they get enough employees they will be a good store. FYI, Port Charlotte store in Murdock is less than 10 miles away with excellent employee knowledge.

Great prices and I like the digital coupons for more savings. Staying open till ten pm is a plus. Sometimes items are out of stock otherwise I would give them five stars.

I enjoy Dollar General when I need to pick up a few items on my way home. Unfortunately this location always seems to be under-staffed at the register. Not uncommon to see a line of people halfway across the store while one person struggles with the single open checkout.

We found what we were looking for.

They need to check the food items on their shelves. Bought something that was best if used by 2 months prior to me buying it. The freezers were practically empty, but had almost everything I was looking for. Two employees in the entire store and one didnt bother coming to help at the register until the one line was extremely long. The place just needs a better vibe.

Helpful and friendly. Just the eclectic mix of goods. Saved my bacon (or at least wasting 2 hours running home for a spare).

The personnel changes constantly. THere are questionable people always sitting outside. The cleanliness is better but still needs improvement. The personnel are not friendly. I am not comfortable shopping there. I dont drive so I have no choice. The other Dollar General is exactly the opposite and such a great place.

So 20mins before the store is supposed to close and the woman working had the nastiest attitude and who looked like she just got out of bed is stopping people at the door telling everyone that they dont want anymore customers because its almost time to close up. I wonder if corporate knows that this is how this location treats customers, or if they even care. The way she spoke to me was ridiculous. Hopefully management can get on here and address this like professionals

Ive shopped at this location for years.. When you go in there now the shelves are always half empty.. They dont have the product selection they used to have.. Their freezers arent freezing the ice cream or any of the frozen products.. Not as clean as it used to be

Great customer service

Great store to pick up things you need in a hurry at a good price ! Has a little bit of everything! Food, toiletries, housewares, and even some clothes and shoes... Its bigger than a convenience store and smaller than a grocery store. Customer service was very good too. When I was ready to check out, a long line suddenly formed when several customers converged at the checkout at the same time. Less than a minute later, an employee, perhaps a manager, opened up another register and the line was cleared out in about 2 minutes. I actually stopped here to kill time (first time visit), but Ill be back!

I havent went to this store in over a year because of their staff before. Went in the other day notice on the way in three staff outside smoking one girl in the store trying to make through the very long line. She was polite and friendly. Store shelves werent stocked.

The entire store wreaked of reefer

Used to do most of our shopping here. Then an employee accused my wife of trying to shoplift. We shopped here for convenience not for savings. Well take are spending elsewhere now. Thanks anyway. Where is my middle finger emogee when I need it.

It was my first visit to this store and I arrived not long after it opened. I found the store messy with stuff on the floor and just a general look of disorganization. Also too many items priced higher than necessary to where you may as well shop at Walmart and get better quality. Ha! Never thought Id use quality and Walmart in the same sentence! Ive no plans on returning to this particular Dollar General.

Waited in line with just a few cards, for over 15 minutes!! Then when they finally took me & I was ready to check out, something was wrong with their credit card machine which held me up even longer & I ended up needing to pay in cash, because they were unable to fix it! Every time I visit this store there are VERY Long lines, and only 1 cashier, 2 at the most checking out customers!!

Was looking to purchase a couple of funny birthday cards, unfortunately the selection here didnt quite measure up - after 20 minutes of hunting for just two clever cards, I gave up and had to purchase elsewhere. Im not that fussy, but their humor section was disappointing - lame might be a more accurate assessment.
