Everyone please give these guys a chance to look at your the vehicles. The Female there is very quick on getting you a accurate quote and the tall gentleman there is very knowledgeable in what hes doing. Ive been coming to Mr transmission for over the last 2 years and felt the need to finnaly write them a review because I am leaving to Colorado this month and will miss having a reliable place to bring my vehicle. Every time Ive brought my vehicle to them theyve always been good value, polite, on time, and professional. They have saved me a lot of money. Especially just recently I was told by Toyota dealership that it would cost $8,000 to replace my transfer case and actuators which had me scared because Im about to leave on a road trip. But when I brought it to Mr transmission the gentleman there reassured me everything is a okay and didnt charge me anything and could still use 4x4 drive at anytime I want. Even if I had to replace everything it was still only like a quarter of the price of what the dealership told me. Definitely going to miss having this shop as a reliable source for my vehicles. 😎👍

In December of 09 I had a transmission go out, or thats what I thought. Now looking back I know it was just the front seal leaking. The guy who worked up front convinced me that it whole transmission needed to be rebuilt, because it was slipping. At this time I was just a kid and didnt know anything about car except how to change the oil. Long story short I left the car with them for repair. I had half the money at the time to pay for it, so I called and asked if I could pay half and get my things out of it. Everything I had was in it. I was just getting separated from the Navy. That same guy said no unless I paid the entire bill. I will admit it was 2-3 weeks later at that point. I do know now that had I just allowed them to fix the leak I could had paid that same day, and all would have been avoided. Thanks for getting over on me Mr. Trans of Newport News. 👍🏽

A lot of nice talk really wish I didnt take my car here to get work I should have went to a more known establishment after car being held theres no way that they couldnt tell that my transmission wasnt fixed when you ship it in the gear made a loud grinding noise took it back to them they said theyre going to put a additive in it to see if it goes away I dont know what kind of additive will make a grinding noise go away lets just say the additive didnt work took it back again I dont even know if they order the part but they say they ordered a part had my car from sometime again same issue I only have one car that gives me back and forth to work they wanted to keep my car again how am I supposed to get to work for 4000 dollars you would think it would get fixed right the first time I would never recommend anybody here instead of worrying about fixing the car one of the mechanics was like how long ago did we work on this is it still in warranty do you think I would have bought it back there if it wasnt in warranty now in the process of saving for a new car this transmission is horrible and its probably going to go out and the future wish I would have taken it somewhere else you live and you learn though

Excellent service! The transmission went out in my 2003 corvette while travelling to Yorktown VA. It turned out to be shifting linkage that had worked its way loose, thankfully nothing internal. The staff was very professional and personable. I was shown pictures of the repair as well. They were helpful and explained all the steps of the repair process. They even kept my car inside after it was fixed to protect it. I highly recommend Mr. Transmission for anything transmission related. I cant stop smiling.

Once again Lyle, Sharon, and Mike have pulled my fat out of the fire! The AC in my antique Mercedes-Benz was just not able to keep up with the hot temperatures, but after a short time, Lyle and Crew had cold air pumping out of the vents. Now they have my Audi for the same service and I know it will be done quickly, right the first time, and at a reasonable price too! Oh! Love the new location. More space and bigger bays! A big win all around. Thank you all :-)

I have a 82 cadillac eldorado brought here for loss of power breaks and burning way to much gas and check engine light an lots of exaust smoke coming from rear. Found out the chips were damaged in the ecm cpu and car had a misfire because of a bad fuse on a injector. They found the parts which are very hard to find and fixed everything Ive been to two shops for the same problem and have paid thousands of dollars these guys got it right the 1st time and it didnt cost me a arm and a leg either. Car runs and drives excellent and is not burning gas anymore either. Will be back in a couple weeks to get an old leak fixed. They now have a customer for life.

If i could give 0 stars I would. I was in a bad place when I brought the car to them. They took apart my transmission and left it in my trunk with fluid still in it. Per the contract I sign in lieu of storage fees I had to keep insurance on the car which I did. But immediately renigged on that when I said I wasnt keeping the car. They also refused to let me take my personal items out of the car. I will never let anyone I love come to this place. Terrible.

Unprofessional, rude, sneaky, will rip you off at any opportunity, will claim they dont recognize customers who write bad reviews because they are disorganized and must not have many repeat customers. I can guarantee they have caused way more stress and financial damage to their customers than actual help. Do yourself a favor and go with a bigger, more reliable company. This company is a scam!

The people are nice and helpful but my trucks transmission went out 1 week later again. May not have been them, may have been the received product

Great honest service at good prices!

Came in first week in November it’s now February and after more than 6 trips and weeks and weeks of not having my vehicle ... I still have the same problem! A lot of niceties and confusing speak but no results. I would highly recommend staying away !

While on vacation I experienced some problems with my car & had to find a mechanic. After calling several shops & getting prices for a transmission I was scared to go anywhere. Another repair shop recommended Lyle because they didnt do transmission work & assured me that he was trustworthy. Lyle figured out the problem & it turned out that I didnt even need a transmission. Lyle had my car fixed & I was back on the road the same day, Lyle is the man! Very friendly & honest service here.

I drive a 1998 Volvo (named Violet) -- shes a quirky old lady who likes to act up occasionally. Lyle and Sharon treat her with respect, and fix whatever problem she has so shes good to go again, and take care of her as if they were working on a family members car.

This is our #1 goto place for repairs. We always receive quick and accurate repairs. No fuss and great to deal with.

Ive taken vehicles to this Mr. Transmission for decades. The service has been always been good. After purchasing the shop, the McElraths have taken the service to an even higher level. Lyle and his mechanic, Mike, are aces. Sharon keeps me updated on the status of repairs, which are always done quickly. I was just running through the vehicles in my head and I believe Ive had six different vans and cars, both foreign and domestic, in there in the past few years. Its my go to for auto repairs, even though I live 30+ miles away. There are some businesses you just trust. The McElraths Mr. Transmission is one of those businesses for me. I refer people to them often.

If i could give 10 stars i would. I was on the road and they chose to help me out and work late they charged me for minimums and fixed a problem i would have never found. All i have to say is i wish lyle lived closer to me so i could use his expertise more. Great job guys. You are amazing. I hope the tip compensates for the overtime. Its all i could afford while being on the road. We made it back to kentucky with zero issues.

What a shame that there are places like this. AAA towed the car to Mr. Transmission saying that they were great, even though the customer said they wanted it towed to Champs in Poquoson! After getting a quote, the customer called and they wanted to know the price to replace an alternator and battery. We gave them a price and it was over $500 less than what Mr. Transmission quoted them. They were trying to arrange to have the vehicle towed here and in the interim, Sharon from Mr. Transmission called our shop trying to act like a customer and get quoted a price for the same vehicle and work. I gave her the price and after that phone call, she called our customer and told them well we will do it for this price instead. The customer still wanted to have the vehicle towed to us instead and was told, well we have already started on the vehicle so it cant be released. The customer told them I told yall not to touch the car, so whatever you have done was not authorized and we want it back to the way it was when it got towed to you. We are having it towed to our normal mechanic. The vehicle eventually made it to the shop and the work was done at an honest and fair price. Mr. Transmission is the type of shop that gives all auto repair shops a bad name!! BEWARE!!

Over the past several years I have taken my car to Lyle, the manager and chief mechanic of Mr. Transmission. Each time I was treated fairly and presented with a great price. They stand behind their work - unlike the other mechanics I have tried. Living in the same area over the past twenty five years I have been ripped off, lied to and worse. Not with Lyle! I recommend anyone in the area to go to these people, they do more than Transmissions: they just fixed my brakes, last winter sealed up oil leaks and so much more. I cannot give them enough stars!
