Once we ordered at the counter, the food was brought out pretty fast. theres a really nice outdoor courtyard dining area with lots of plants, as well as some indoor tables. service is minimal, theyll run food out to your table (as long as you clip your order number somewhere easy for the food runners to see), but condiments, water, napkins, to-go boxes etc were easily accessible.pancakes were very fluffy and tasty. the scramble dishes were also good. i dont know what their house jelly for the toast was but its way better than your average smuckers foil packs. theyve got a good selection of hot tea. their espresso is very very good

Foods really good. Especially the sweets! Outdoor seating is really cute. Order at counter and grab a table. It’s pretty much always busy for breakfast but not too bad during the week and less busy at lunch normally. Food is healthy and delish. And the owner is super nice and friendly and I think he’s always at the restaurant.

Delicious fluffy pancakes that seem to have a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. The egg dishes are decent as well. The coffee could use some work but Ive found coffee at a breakfast spot is usually personal preference so I wont hold it against them. Not much to be said for service, its just walk up ordering with a busser/runner. The only reason Im giving 4 stars is that it is not cheap. I believe a rating should take price/value rating into account as well. While the food here is quite tasty, I dont think its the best value. Still, count on this casual spot to leave you satisfied with delectable food as long as your wallet is loose.

The service and food was ok. The ambiance was nice. You can eat at plums for the same price and the food and service will be much better. The presentation of the orange ricotta haute cakes was very nice. They didnt have much flavor though.

This place is owned by Paul and Tania and they are killing it!The food and drink were amazing.They great a new drink - celery sparkling lemonade - it s a must try.They have a great tea selection as well.Also, there is a really relaxing outside patio.Don’t forget to visit the flower/gift shop by the restaurant. Tania makes the restaurant flowers arrangements right there.

Very bad service.. my order was not as I asked for it I lacked things .. and when I picked it up I spent 20 minutes waiting for my coffees .. and I arrived home and orders were missing and everything was cold .. and its flavor was bad ..😡

Great place to have a quick bite for breakfast or lunch. The chocolate croissant was pretty good, small though. The orange muffin was flavorful and not too sweet, moist, good texture. My latte was average. Good amount of outdoor seatings. Prices a bit on the high end.

Very busy specially on a cold rainy day, where nobody wants to sit outside. Inside it is very noisy, but I enjoy the design with the light blue tiles. The food is great. The coffee is too acidic and sour, my wife and I had a flat white. Just get a tea, if you want a hot beverage. Staff is nice, friendly and pays attention to details.

Such an amazing shop for breakfast. They have great service and even better food. They patio area to sit in outside is such a great environment. My family enjoyed it quite a bit. Was a little surprised to see how sloppy they were with the cappuccino though. She just peed milk as quickly as possible.

Gourmet breakfast options. Great coffee. Moist pancakes with real maple syrup. Just dont get the cornmeal pancakes. Those are horribly dense and dry. Gourmet breakfast sausage. I recommend the Pierre Scramble that comes with asparagus, feta, and lightly grilled onions. Hint, any of the scrambles can come as a side order if you want a smaller cheaper portion. Also every week there is a Specials sheet by the cashier, which has bonus menu items on it. But avoid the fried chicken special. Its flavorless and somewhat overcooked. Beautiful outdoor seating area!

We decided to come here one pleasant Sunday morning. The pumpkin pancakes made it turn from a pleasant breakfast to a heavenly haute. The bacon tasted like it came from prize winning porkers. The pricing is very good for the quality of the food you get. Get the cinnamon custard to share with the table. You won’t find it on the menu! The service is great and this little cafe won’t let you down.

Line was really long so I was excited to try it. Took maybe 45 to order but it was a Sunday so understandable. Staff was very friendly and food came out really fast (about 5 minutes). Unfortunately the burrito was incredibly bland. I ate a bite and just sat it aside. Lemonade was tasty but very very sweet.

Indoor dining and large patio area. I rarely give 5 star reviews but this one is well deserving. Exceptional breakfast plates with generous portions. A little pricey but well worth every dime.

I was in the area and decided to try something new and to my surprise found this really cute Cafe. The lines were long so I figured it had to be good. The lines moved fast and the staff were nice and accommodating. Im from Louisiana so I look for good well seasoned food. First bite was mmm but the rest was just as good as the first. Had the huevos rancheros with chorizo. It was everything I was hoping for. Wife had the orange ricotta pancakes. Wow were they good. A bit like having dessert for breakfast tho, so only order if youre looking to satisfy your sweet tooth!

If you ever read a bad review about this place it’s only because 1 person out of the 1000 eating there that day had a poor experience - which can happen when you’re as busy as Haute Cakes will be. And they’re busy for good reason! They genuinely care about providing great food, a great atmosphere, and a great experience. Their food is consistently on point, their staff makes a point to go out of their way to provide you with great service, and they genuinely care about everyone who comes to sit and eat with them. The culture feels more like a family than a business. We eat here multiple times any given month. Highly recommend. Thank you guys 🖤

The line was long and I cannot understand why. They provided coffee as we stood in line and said, its a twenty minute wait from here. After forty minutes of standing in line we ordered our food. We then waited another thirty five minutes for our food. Its breakfast, not a four course meal. Thirty minutes as I took notice of the mom and daughter behind us get served before us. Then two women with a dog who were four sets of people behind us and also sat next to us got served. At which time, I stood up to inquire about our breakfast. The cashier failed to mention we needed to pick up the latte. They re steamed it instead of making a new one. Additionally, those sitting inside who were also standing behind us were being served their breakfast. As for the breakfast meal itself, pancakes were paper thin and tasted like cardboard. McDonalds has a better pancake. Trust me, pick another spot. The food and service barley rate a one star. Order number #340555 on 10.24.2020 at 1220pm.

So this is a high end Newport Beach restaurant that has a nice outdoor eating area as well as indoor tables seated with distancing.. food is good but a bit pricey ..salads and pancakes plus drinks came to $60 (but I was being treated) and it is well made and well attended.. cute gift shop for holiday items.. lots of friends and neighbors chatting (masks on)..

Got the ricotta pancakes, but couldn’t taste the ricotta. Our egg sandwiches were good. Paul came over and tried to remedy the situation, server was very helpful.

Everything looked amazing and tasted the part too. Presentation was immaculate and flavors were rich. Pricing is also great for the amount of food and quality you receive. They also have great gluten free options *they contain milk*. Bacon/meats are great, fruit is fresh, fresh ingredients all around. Wait was also not very long, if youre looking for a quality quick meal.

It was worth the drive. I only eat pancakes when I crave them...I had a love affair with them. I look forward to going back.

The Haute Cake caffe is I think the best place 2 eat if you want quality service, delicious food,and nice waiters.I did not like one of my pancakes so they remade it for free with free pastries I was so grateful for this.I highly recommend eating here.No critsims

Quite delicious pancakes. The buckwheat pancakes are hearty and quite sturdy yet very good. The orange ricotta are close to the opposite texture. Very soft and moist but good as well

For less than a buck, you can buy a coffee frappe. I went to this shop the other day since I was tired of my job.

We’ve been coming here for Sunday breakfast. I love that the staff is consistent; some of them know our ordering nuances and can guess our modifications even if we forget to mention them. It’s nice to see familiar faces. The space is small but atmosphere is refreshing and spaced well. Lots of trees, vines and plants. The food is delicious. There are plenty of options without being overwhelming, and they allow some modifications to make dishes dairy free or gluten free. The gf oatmeal blueberry pancakes are one of my favorite! I don’t know the owner personally but have seen him around talking to people and helping the staff. He really seems down to earth and kind. Highly recommend this places. Suggest coming early if you want to try it before it gets “crowded”.

I love an eggy breakfast. Ive never found pancakes anywhere else that can rival my Moms and dissuade me from a tasty omelette. But the pancakes at Haute Cakes are amazing! It is the only place Ill order the pancakes without question... and the real maple syrup doesnt hurt.

I had the brussel sprouts scramble and it was delicious. The cafe mocha was also great. There was a long line but the service was quick so it didnt feel like a long wait. Ill definitely be coming back.

This is my second time here, it is an ok place to have breakfast but I think this is the last time for me based on the waiting time, price, food, the plates they use for the food (chipped ceramic plates) and especially the coffee (Nescafe flavor).

I love their bacon. Very thick, crispy and filling. Their oatmeal blueberry pancakes (with banana) are out of this world. Their blackberry jam seems home made..fantastic. Their cappuccinos are outstanding. Great high quality teas.Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Even if a mistake was made, i have never left displeased. An Adorable Breakfast place! We waited about 20-25 minutes in line (which they had a sign that warned you about the wait on Weekends and holidays), the line went very fast! And the food was worth the wait. I had one of the scramblers and my husband got the avocado toast with eggs on it (he thought it was AMAZING). We ordered a side of the Haute Cakes because we wanted to try them, we are BIG Pancake people and these surpassed any pancake I had before! Fluffy with the perfect bit of sweetness! I also tried the Almond Latte because we read good reviews on it, it was phenomenal!!! Such a cute atmosphere and the food was GREAT!!!! We will go back when we visit Newport again!Even though you might be waiting in line for some time, once you order and sit down your food is there in NO time! That was much appreciated!Love the cuteness of this place!A MUST GO!

The avocado toast was tasty and so was the Pierre Scramble with asparagus, although the scramble portion was small. The toast with jam was good. The reason we wont return is that the coffee was very acidic. My husband and I drink our coffee black but had to add milk to make it drinkable (barely). There are too many good coffees around, so theres no excuse for serving bad coffee.

Usually one of my favorite places bit today on Valentines Day the bakery shelves seemed pretty picked ovwr by 10:45am. The Hot Cocoa was not tasty. On the other hand the service staff was wonderful!!! 5 stars for the staff.

Arrive early on Sundays. The line is long, but its well worth the wait. I enjoyed the Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes and a glass of the Sea Worth Cold Brew! Ill definitely be back. Their menu has a lot of great choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They even offer gluten free options.

One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Small menu but very unique and all you need. Nice courtyard setting with small indoor area. Going after noon will help you avoid the morning rush. It gets packed, despite the larger space.

Very busy but worth the wait. Excellent menu and the cooks and staff are casual but professional. The owner came out of the kitchen and gave samples to people in line but the samples were full portions of baked goods. Very welcoming atmosphere. The food served was gourmet level and not pre-made items.

By the name of the restaurant, I thought this was a bakery, but in fact it is an adorable breakfast and lunch spot tucked away in the patio area of an outdoor shopping center on Westcliff Drive in Newport Beach, CA. If you are familiar with the area it is a mile or so from Sidecar Donuts.I found this spot on the web site for Oatly Oat Milk. I was looking to purchase some of their barista Oat milk but the cafe was out of stock. The cashier recommended I talk to the owner, and he was so kind to place an order so that I could come back in and purchase it on another day.5 stars for such wonderful and personalized service.I will be back to try their menu items. Their breakfast and lunch items all looked so good, and the few market salads sold out of their counter glass cold case looked beautifully prepared and very fresh.I am guessing they got their name because they have several varieties of gourmet pancakes...offerings like Buttermilk, Oatmeal Blueberry, Orange Ricotta, and Cornmeal Blueberry! Their hot breakfast scrambles, salads, sandwiches and soups all sound enticing. Its rare that I see multiple items on a menu that jump out at me. When I come back to pick up my milk I will explore further!

Nice, relaxing atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very hospitable. The Haute cakes(pancakes) are very good, probably some of the better pancakes Ive had. The Ricotta haute cake is definitely worth a try, but if you like it simple, the buttermilk haute cakes are just as delicious! :)

Go for the pancakes, stay for the ambience!!! Great outdoor courtyard seating that is shaded and surrounded by plants. The location is odd from the outside, but once you’re in the courtyard it’s completely wonderful!

The food is good, the staff is nice, but their kitchen cant keep up with the weekend rush... we spent 30 min in line just to order (sitting at a table is not an option) and another 30 to get our food.. for a simple breakfast sandwich it just wasnt worth the wait. By the time out food came we were so over the noise and crowd we couldnt wait to leave. Id rather go somewhere more leisurely with table service for the price and time spent so its a more enjoyable way to eat out on a weekend.

Amazing menu, not a bad thing to eat! The corn meal cakes are so moist and delicate but wonderfully filling at the same time. Literally cant go wrong with the haute combo and any pancakes of your choice. Make sure to check out the special menu though, lots of delicious options there too!

I like this place. They have good food, and when the weather is fine(Newport Beach so thats a common occurrence) the courtyard is really lovely. The prices run a bit high; but the quality is there. Its just a little too popular right at peak lunch hour to make it a reliable go-to.

I have been eating here for 6 years always a pleasure. Great breakfast and wonderful service. Long lines on the weekend but moves quickly and worth the wait. Pancakes and side of bacon best way to start the day.

Haute cakes is a family favorite for us Saturday mornings! Ricotta pancakes & avo toast is our usual order, never fails. Their potatoes are amazing, I’ve ordered just a side of those. The lunch options are yummy as well if you come later. You do need to order/pay first and then be seated which I personally like! The staff are very helpful which is always a plus. If there’s a line just stick with it, the wait is well worth it for a good brunch with a nice atmosphere. Enjoy!
