The staff was extremely proficient, congenial and amicable. A truly reasonable room rate also. It was our first an ideal opportunity to remain in this lodging and I was extremely happy with the help that you gave. I will call your inn over and over! It was firmly prescribed to everybody!

If you want the cleanest and most amazing place to visit this is it.We had some issues with a yacht charter.And Nicole the concierge was above and beyond with her service and was able to find us a new charter.She insured our stay was the best!! To begin….no food service. Cannot order room service via room phone (not working) nor cell phone (no answer). Walk down to restaurant (not the concept of room service) and the hostess “does Know If they provide room service.” I ask her to talk to someone that may know and she proceeds to say “ I don’t know”. I proceed to go to check in and they say that phones having trouble. Don’t know if can order room service. Really!!! It takes a phone??? I was at the restaurant and they wouldn’t take my order. Worst service I have had I. 20 years!!!!I completely gave up trying to get food from the hotel. Now later in the night I return to room and my TV won’t turn on. No luck with front desk.Please, be aware! I travel often, both personal and business. This is the WORST service in 20 years. I will not ever return. Too many better options.

I was expecting better food for such a high end resort. Great views and service. The valet people put a small dent in my rental car. If it wasnt a rental, I would have been furious to say the least.

I had to take the time to write about such an amazing stay. Not only is this hotel located in a very beautiful and scenic area And exquisitely decorated with very beautiful rooms… It’s really the staff that is making me want to write a review. I feel like everyone that works here has gone above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We had a technician employee helping us with something And I believe his name was Adrien… He was so kind and so helpful with such a warm personality. He was extremely thoughtful and he took the time to wish my husband a happy birthday and really make him feel celebrated. The entire staff each in different ways did little things to make our stay very special. I highly recommend this resort.

Great food, dated hotel, way overpriced poor front desk/mgmnt cistomer service

My wife and I had great lunch and a beautiful scene of the marina from our table. From the moment you walk into the resort you get a sense of relaxation. We ordered the lobster salad and was a treat to savor. Our main dish was the lobster roll and the crispy sea bass .... all portions are on the bigger size so we had no room for dessert... got to say that the food was exceptionally delicious and is prepared with a modern fusion touch to all serving... we will definitely be back ...

This place is relaxing to have breakfast in the morning. You get to see a calming, peacefully harbor view, and the food is excellent. My family and I do love the ambient overall.

Love this as a venue for events but yesterday my meal fell way short, Branzino fish was cold and so tough and dry that I couldnt cut through it with a fork. It was served unattractively skin up. The AV was set up on a screen at the far end of our room, too far away for many to see well. Although speakers were set up, could not understand what the people in the video were saying... The valet service was great!

The Balboa Bay Resort is a 160-room resort hotel in Newport Beach, California. The facility was founded in 1948 as the Balboa Bay Club, a private yacht club. The Balboa Bay Club includes a 130-slip marina, private beach, waterfront pools, private restaurant, a spa and fitness center, and 145 apartments on the Newport Beach Harbor waterfront on the Pacific Coast Highway.Easy check in and out, valet parking available and the guys are very helpful. Pool is accessible to Hotel guest.But unfortunately if youre not a CLUB MEMBER you dont have any access to use the Private Beach, you have to drive at least 5mins away to be in the beach whether youre booked in a suite room.Overall its a Good Hotel!

Single parent + child. Summer splurge at, “#1 hotel in Newport.” Sorely disappointed. While reserving room inquired about lunch on Duffy package; given number to dock master and told to look into it myself. Upon arrival it took 3 calls and an hour to get a necessary toiletry item delivered from front desk. A+O restaurant was only open dinner option. Ordered Cesar salad and roasted jidori chicken entree - both bland. Stayed in king courtyard room. Roaches got into my child’s food - located in the cabinet near mini fridge. Also witnessed a handful of roaches scatter when I used the restroom during the night. The hotel is separate from the “members only” resort, though the photo advertisements for the hotel show both, creating a false illusion regarding the hotel’s amenities. I thought I would be staying at a high end resort - nope. The pool is located inside a courtyard. Unless you have a bay view room, you miss out on the location. I appreciate the child friendly games at the pool; indifferent to the pool DJ. Ordered child’s ice cream at the pool, took 45 minutes. Lastly, plan on valet parking. Self parking is extremely limited and not even an option during my stay due to a car show.

I ate at the restaurant in the hotel. Had a great view of the harbor on the patio. Great service, food, and drinks.

We attended a charity event here. The property sits on the water with beautiful views of the harbor.

My stay was great. I’ve stayed many times and it’s always great. The location great as well. The only thing they can improve on is recognizing their clients especially ones that have recently visited.

Balboa is such a beautiful place! The houses next to the ocean, and the sunsets touching the boats with orange and yellow shades... I just simply love it.

Outside of being a mega millionaire who has a their own beachfront mansion, this is the perfect place to stay. Shuttles to and from Crystal cove are very convenient. Multiple locations to swim and soak in the pool and jacuzzi. Its an Uber away from anywhere you need to be..

Disappointed in the parking situation.....self parking lot was full and valet friendly and nice but very busy and understaffed. Beach area reserved to members only which I didnt know when booking this hotel. Nice pool but staff was not very welcoming. Left a brand new dress behind and my husband and I called 2x to talk w lost and found....no call bk yet!

This management team was superb- above par - they came to our aid and came out like wild banshees In full alert trying to locate our kid who we thought went missing. Our kid fell asleep in a separate cabana while we were hanging by the pool and we thought we lost him. Panic ensued after 20 mins. This hotel and staff went into to full alert when we notified them of our concern. great crowd and pool amenities. Kudos to a reputable staff and security team. We enjoyed our stay and will recommend them for anyone looking for a quick get away

Fun place to meet friends for drinks on the water. We usually have a group and try to get seating around one of their fire pits. I don’t often order fries but they have really tasty fries here making it worth the calories. They usually have live music as well which is something that is lacking around this area.

New everything.. top notch flooring, walls, furniture, even smoke detectors connected to a central line, so dont try to disable them to smoke anything! 😜 Staff is pleasant, helpful, and polite. Location is close to freeways restaurants, shopping, and the Ferrari store!

Balboa Bay resort was recently remodeled and is a beautiful property and a great place to stay when you have friends or family in from out of town. They have a great little casual restaurant that has the most gorgeous sunset views if you were just in town and wanted to drink off PCH without having to drive down onto the peninsula. There’s really not a lot of sunset view places directly on the peninsula and that’s one of the reasons why I often come here after work or on days off to catch the sunset.A lot of people don’t know that this property is also part of Balboa Bay club a members only club that’s very pricey to join. Members have the separate entrance over by the shops where the dry bar is, they have their own pool bar and restaurant. I have some friends that are members and if you get invited that’s a fun spot to go to in the summer especially. Members have a lot of benefits at the Balboa Bay resort and get 20% off their restaurant bills plus to many more to mention here.I’m not obsessed with the food at A & O Kitchen but it’s decent and the staff is really great. Management at this property is really top notch. I’ve never been to the fine dining restaurant it’s on my list.So the bottom line is this is a great place to visit if you’re in from out of town for sunset view dining and a great place to stay also.PS they have a nicely curated boutique with cute stuff, workout clothes loungewear And gifts if you’re in a pinch. AND they have the best DRY BAR, it’s my favorite dry bar. If you call the Balboa bay resort and ask for the members desk you can reach a person at the dry bar directly and book your appointment without having to go through the online scheduling place.

Came here to get together with friends and the food and drinks were good but they ran out of some items and it was rather loud inside. The atmosphere on the patio is incredible.

Worst hotel stay. Woke up to a large cockroach in the bed with me, then lost electricity while getting ready in AM, no air conditioning for an entire day, and found chewed gum stuck under water bottle. Looks are deceiving!

Made a reservation on a Saturday night and sat down 40 mins later. Enjoyed a yummy bottle of wine 🍷 and good (not great) salmon dinner. There is a limited food selection but the outdoor couches with personal fire pits, on the water, made the evening a success. There was a minor altercation where a drunk patron interrupted the band, but it was a solved extremely fast. I would give it 4.5 stars but they dont have half stars.

What a great place to eat and drink with a water view! They have an amazing drink menu! We all split a bunch of different food items from the menu. The Cuban sandwich was my favorite!

The quality of the linens and mattress do not match the price of the room. Also, you can hear your upstairs neighbor walking around.Location, room size, room quality, service, and staff are unbeatable.

Don’t bother. This place is trash. Service is not good. Parking machines broken can’t get in and out of self park. Restaurants and room service close at 9. Even though advertised as 24 hour restaurant. Room service not available from 11-5 or after 9. Serious? Makeshift resort at best. Save your money, go to a real resort.

Our family stayed at this hotel to celebrate a birthday with my kids. My kids and our nanny were restricted from many areas of the property. Hotel guests are treated as ‘second class’. Not an inclusive environment, definitely not family friendly. Don’t come unless you are a member.

Positive: A wonderful five star experience every time I stay there. I brought caviar to my room for new years eve and room service brought me all of the condiments ( chopped onion, egg whites and yolks, etc.). They definitely go the extra yard to satisfy. Negative: No.

Very nice place to stay. All the employees that we came across were very nice and listened to you with eye contact. Clean rooms I must say when you go stay on the bay side with a harbor view, beautiful morning setting. Good cup of coffee watching the kayaks go by and listening to the seagulls squawk nice way to start the day.

The pool was not so big, but it was safe for the kids. It was not too deep for them, and there is a lifeguard on duty the whole time the pool is open. I highly recommended this hotel.

Most of the amenities are off limits to hotel guests. This was a huge disappointment, as we were looking forward to using the spa, pool and tiny beach. Club members only, so we left.

Positive: The location in a popular area of Balboa Bay. Negative: The cost, but that is unavoidable for a 5-star fancy hotel.

Excellent service, chopped salad was very well prepared. Juan was so helpful as the servers assistant and it was his first day.

It’s a very nice place, location-wise. It’s that level of expensive where NOTHING is exclusive. Of course, if you’re staying there you likely don’t care about paying $10 to have your food brought to you but that doesn’t include the 20% tip you have no say in. It adds up. I only used the valet once because the self parking was much closer to my room but was still charged for every night. It’s nice but I won’t choose to stay there again.

There are lots of other places in the area that make the Balboa Bay Resort irrelevant on price and quality. This is the highest cost option for the lowest quality offering.I was unfortunate to find myself a prisoner to the Bay Resort holding my wedding venue deposits hostage in the eye of covid. Regardless of the abrasive top level management team who remain strangers to flexibility and competence, my wife and I decided to put our poor dealings with the resort aside and move forward with our wedding there. The one star in my review is solely for the magnificent venue right on the bay, and the four empty stars can’t fully justify how uneducated all levels of staff and management are in basic customer service.My room (mind you, I was the groom) wasn’t ready until 5pm after my third visit to the front desk beginning at 10am. Multiple guests at my wedding were met with a colony of ants in their room forcing them to be stuck in the lobby while the Resort ‘scrambled’ for hours to find new rooms in the hotel that was then riddled with vacancy. Drink tabs had to be awkwardly corrected on numerous occasions throughout the weekend from being overcharged. Often times, it was faster to get a drink by getting out of the pool, drying off and going inside to the lobby restaurant bar than it was to wait hopelessly for wait staff to surface by the pool.The Balboa Bay Resort made me feel embarrassed on more occasions throughout my wedding weekend for recommending it to my wedding guests than the total times any staff or manager said “welcome” or “thank you” or “I apologize” to me. Honestly.Today, covid has further reinforced that customer service is what sets hotels apart. It seems Balboa Bay Resort has chosen to blatantly disregard that and consciously drive in the opposite direction. The view is great but doesn’t come close to compensating for all other aspects of my experience.

Sublime visit from Valet to Valet. Friday dusk. No reservation. Seated outside. Distanced, of course. Few patrons. Great view of the water, boats, rowing and cruisers.Open and fresh. They also take reservations for the large fire lounges. Live music around dark. The burning heaters are plentiful. All staff and hotel used proper protection and protocals. Going back for a weekend stay-cation even during Covid or better yet, in spite of it

Always 5 star events.Lunch was delicious, servers were wonderful, setting on the lawn was nice but a bit warm. Lots of mask and distancing signage reminded all to comply. For those who didnt due to medical exemptions, no hassles after the initial simple explanation. Lovely event.

Awesome location but service at A&O restaurant was under par. It wasnt busy but we were left waiting and had to flag down servers to get service then they got our order wrong. My son has an egg allergy so he wanted the breakfast with no eggs and an extra side. He got eggs with an extra side of eggs! Disappointing. I expected this place to be top notch. Its not.

Top of the line resort here in OC! It was perfect for both of to get away for a couple of nights from the day to day hustle. Only 15 minutes away, so we will be back soon, enjoy!

The all service is Very Good.

The rooms were unclean and really disgusting, which is unacceptable and especially concerning during Covid-19 era. There was hair in the shower, on the bath tub and all over the bed. There was makeup on the walls and mirrors. There was greasy fingerprints all over the room. All the staff did was offer to switch rooms in the middle of the night. Ive never slept so stiff in my life. I came here to celebrate my birthday and ended up checking out early. I find it hard to believe that this is a Forbes approved Resort. It shouldnt even call itself a Resort. Extremely negative experience.

Piss poor customer service.Please hope that you are not there when the power goes out. They close the bar, restaurant, room service for three hours. No desserts, or ice cream. For what you are paying for a room rate each night there is no customer service.

Beautiful location! The staff was top notch. I worked an event there and the staff was friendly, on point and quick!! Parking was easy. Lunch and breakfast were easy and delicious. Id host an event there again!!

Extra precautions during covid times made me feel safe! Maybe extra masks in the rooms just in case guests forget would be helpful. The room was extra clean!

It was great if you check in between 4 and 5 you get a glass of wine. The rooms are nice.. the hotel pool and staff were very attentive.. wish you could use some of the member portions like the beach.. Also the pool is nice but the member pool is on the beach.. that would be nice to use as a guest.

Seriously need to change up the menu.. Such a great venue going to waste.

The staff here was fantastic! Particularly Peter at the pool and Jose at the A&O restaurant. They made our trip! Incredibly thoughtful and generous and even surprised our daughter (With our permission) with some ice cream at the end of our meal.

Very nice!! Attended a company Christmas party here. There was a fire alarm just as we got to the front entrance but we were able to enter within a few minutes. The staff was really nice. And the views are nice too. Fancy entrance and the Christmas decorations were very nice too. The facilities were clean too.
