I have been getting oil changes there for 10+ years. Never have had to wait longer than 30 minutes. I went today to get an oil change. They no longer allow you to drive up to the service. You need to park, register, drive over to the service station after. I went to register and figured I would be in and out quickly because no other cars were being serviced at the time. I asked to get an oil change and the man at the front desk said it would be pretty quick, a little over an hour, thats how long it usually takes. I just left. Ill schedule an oil change at the dealer with a service checkup if it is going to take over an hour to do what has always taken about 10-15 minutes. I dont understand how things have changed, and Im not a fan of the downgrade in service. Super disappointed, as this was my go to spot for a decade. Why make things more difficult???

Came for an oil change and was very disappointed to find the express lane closed. I had to go to the main entrance to check in. They took my car at about 11:10am and its 11:55am and Im still waiting. Theyve called me up to the counter 2x only to find out they still havent started the job 🤷‍♀️. One guy said they did, another said theres 3 cars ahead of me 🤦🏻‍♀️ so does anyone know whats going on?? They charged $70 for a piece that costs $25 elsewhere. Then told me it was probably a cheaper part, however it had the Toyota logo. Ive been coming here well over 15 years and this is the worst service yet. Its now 12:05pm and still waiting, I may not be back.Thank you Joe for following up and ensuring that this isnt Modern Tires intent on how they do business. Ive been coming back with both of my Toyotas because of the exceptional service Ive received in the past. Theyve always been honest and upfront with me. Thank you for reassuring me that youre still the reputable company I know.

Brought my car to Modern Tire in Newington because I kept losing air in my tire. It would go flat in 6 to 8 hours. They told me there was nothing wrong and that they resealed the tire to the rim. It took them 2 hours to do this. 6 hours later the tire only had 15lbs in it. They didn’t fix anything and I do not believe they even looked at the tire because if they did they would have found a 2 inch cut in the sidewall of the tire, which Firestone found right away when they put the tire in a tank of water.Modern Tire of Newington was/is negligent and could have put my family in danger. I would highly suggest giving your business to another business where they give a damn. I have always bought my tires there, but never again.

Place is a joke. Wife went to get tire alignment and balance and mechanics couldn’t open the trunk! How are you going to do anything to my car when you can’t figure out how to open a trunk on and Acura MDX? Don’t waste time or money.

Fast. Efficient. Friendly. I went for the CT Emissions Test (I passed!). I was in and out in about 15 minutes. They had Covid protocols in place that made me feel safe and comfortable. While there I could see them explain required services to other customers. The staff seemed patient and explained in detail exactly what needed to br done and why.

Just in for emissions but they were attentive to all the customers in the shop. In and out. Happy.

Went for emissions test. I was told by a gentleman to leave emissions post card on dashboard and roll down all the windows and thats it. After 30 min went back inside to see if theres anything else I needed to do. Another person was there this time and she said no so I waited. After another 20min I went back again, this time they said someone would be out to do right away. The test took 10 min tops. Bottom line, it would be nice if someone could just say whether it would take 20 min or more than an hour. This way I could plan on waiting vs coming back later to get my car.

Edwin and MacKenzie were gold. Helping me out and fitting me in last minute to help with a tire issue. Both were very friendly. Will be returning in the future

My experience at Modern Tire was AWFUL. This will be a long and detailed review including pictures.I called Modern Tire and asked if they could put supplied brand new tires/brand new wheels on my Lancer Evolution X, I also supplied brand new lugs, tpms sensors, lastly new 5mm spacers so the new wheels can clear the large brake calipers on my car, and they said they could handle it.I go in on the day of my appointment, give the manager everything that I brought brand new, and made sure he understood that the 5mm spacers are necessary otherwise the wheel rests right against the caliper, to which the manager said he understood and the car will be taken care of.A few hours later I receive a call from the manager who tells me they tried to put the wheels on without the spacers, and scratched the caliper. (photo attached in review)I go down to the shop to see what exactly they were talking about. I saw my calipers were more than simply scratched, and the brand new wheels damaged.What had happened was the tech that was doing the install, decided to try it without the supplied 5mm spacers, and instead of placing 1 wheel on the car and hand turning it, they cranked all the wheels+lugs down on both sides, put the car on the ground and tried to drive out of the bay. Absolutely destroyed the calipers finish.The manager was far from understanding, and acted like it wasnt a big deal because they would take care of it.So the start of the repair was in motion. The calipers were removed, sent out to a shop to be re-powder coated, and rebuilt. The wheels were picked up by an alloy shop to be repaired, however were not repairable, so Modern Tire ordered 2 new wheels.1 week later, the calipers have not made their way back yet, but the wheels have come in. I was assured that when the calipers are finished, that they would be overnighted back to Modern to go back on the car.Now at the 2 week mark, the calipers were not overnighted, and took about 5 days to ship. On top of that, the wheels were not inspected when they received them, to which one of the wheels were pre-damaged.2.5 weeks later from original issue, they have all the parts and put the car back together. I return the rental they put me in, and come to pick up my vehicle. I was handed the keys and go to leave, to which THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. The shop had no clue how to bleed brakes apparently, and I had to waste more time to get another rental.I told Modern Tire that if they do not have the car done by noon the next day, they need to pay to get the car towed to the nearest Mitsubishi dealership. Noon came around the next day, and they said instead of towing it, they would drive it as is to the dealership (with the barely working brakes) to which I told them it needed to be towed.Mitsubishi took care of the brakes, which are better but still not to the degree that the brakes were originally. At this point I just wanted my car back, and as far away from Modern Tire as possible. I take my car home and feel relieved that I am finished with them.However, I discovered more damage. They put my car on the lift without any clearance on the side skirts, causing the paint to crack heavily. (photo attached of pinch) Also, the balance job they did on the wheels was awful and weights were flying off right when I took the car out after I installed the wheels. So, I had to pay to get the wheels rebalanced.In the end, Modern Tire does NOT know how to;1. Follow instructions (even written out on the invoices/work orders)2. Bleed a brake system3. Balance wheels4. How to treat a customer who was more than screwed over due to their mess up.5. Avoid ruining/cracking paint due to carelessness6. Keep their word on how things would be handled7. Do anything in a timely mannerPlease, do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. I wouldnt even trust Modern Tire to do a simple oil change.

Fantastic staff, great prices and amazing service. Ive purchased three sets of tires here after comparing (and referred friends, who all have been happy). Also had service done on my 97 Land Cruiser and the guys - Robert et al - could not be better. What really impresses is how the crew researches everything for you -- tires, service options, etc, and gives you choices. Just tell them what you need - They truly go above and beyond. Thanks guys!

I have never had an experience as exceptional as this. They are very straight forward and honest with their diagnosis. They will send you a video, documenting everything that needs repair. They are not pushy and willing to work with you on what does and doesnt need to be taken care of urgently. Highly recommended!

I came into modern tire today to get my oil changed. I was immediately greeted by Anthony. My knowledge of cars is very slim. He patiently walked me through the packages they have for oil changes. While changing my oil, he also did a safety check on my car and noticed my tires were near bald. He then proceeded to guide me through tire options and I walked away with 4 new tires as well. The whole process was simple and painless. I hate salespeople and he really made me feel comfortable, which I greatly appreciate. I will always be going back to modern tire and Anthony for all my future car needs!

I had an appointment for 2 PM to replace 4 tires. When I got there, on time, I was told it would take 1 hour and 45 minutes. First off, I thought that was quite a long time to replace 4 tires but then it took almost 3 hours! When I inquired why it was taking so long, the counter person was rude with his answer We only have one tire machine and thats why its taking so long. Four techs are trying to use it at the same time. It seems incomprehensible that a tire store would only have 1 tire mount machine.Then, when the car was finally ready at 4:45 PM, I asked about the guarantee that was discussed when I originally ordered the tires over the phone last week. Again, the counter person (with a condescending attitude) tells me that I would have to pay an additional $70 or so to get a guarantee; even though the person I spoke to on the phone told me it was included in the original price of $646. He then tells me because I didnt have an alignment done that same day, they wouldnt honor any warranty either. Alignment was an additional $99 dollars and I chose not to do that immediately because I need an additional paycheck to pay for it. I could have brought the car back for alignment next week but with the poor service I received, Id never go back.Update on 6/27/2020 - Modern Tires customer service reached out to me and wanted to make things right. I originally said I wouldnt go back but, when a company sincerely wants to correct a mistake, it is fair to give them that opportunity. So, brought the car in to get it aligned and obtained the road hazard warranty the other day. Had an early morning appointment and they pretty much had the car in the bay right away. It couldnt have taken more than 30 minutes. They provided a report with info on the alignment specs and wished me a good day. Changing my review stars to reflect that they truly want to provide a good customer experience.

I had a wonderful experience having two new tires put on here last week. I always check the competition and they always beat them. I have been buying tires here for years. Edwin and Mike went above and beyond, answering questions (and I had lots of them) that I had about my car. They were extremely helpful.

Shop Supervisor Anthony Paparello was a really good help when I had brought my vehicle in for a diagnosis. He explained to me the issues and if the car was worth fixing prior to him doing work to it so I wasn’t paying for work I didn’t want. He cares about your dollar. Everyone is knowledgeable and very friendly! I definitely recommend them!

I had a check engine light on my vehicle that no one was able to fix. Just kept coming on and off, on and off. Then finally the shop I was initially being serviced at recommended me to Modern Tire. That says something to me if the competition is recommending another shop. I’ve now waited two weeks to write this and my light has not come back on! I cannot thank Edwin and his crew enough for that they did for me today. I drove there in a panic when I noticed that there was a HUGE bit of tarmac melted to my front tire. I pulled into the express lube area knowing that probably wasnt where I was supposed to be parked. There was already a car parked in the bay but the guy that was working on it noticed the tarmac and came right over. Mind you, I had just left Sams Club parking lot and had a trunk full of groceries and it was over 90 degrees outside. He went and got his manager, Edwin, and he took a look at the tire and said there wasnt much they could do about it. He said I could work on pulling it off myself but it might end in me needing a new tire. He started to show me how to peel off the tarmac and then continued to clean the entire tire off for me! He was able to get 99% of it off my tire and even got a blister from the heat. No charge. I am not sure of any place you can go to that will take the time to do hard labor in the heat for you and not ask for money in return. Everyone I came in contact with at Modern was super friendly and made me feel like a priority. Made it home safely and my groceries were still cold! Will be recommending Modern Tire in Newington to everyone from now on. Thanks for saving my tire AND my groceries!

Got my car serviced here about a month ago, absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I couldnt catch the name of the mechanic working on the car but he did amazing work and Brandon at the front end was very knowledgeable and gave me more options than I knew what to do with!(most shops Ive visited make it seem like theres only one part *often the most profitable* and make me feel pressured to spend the extra money) youll be happy to find out that is not the case here. Came to Modern Tire with a very bad grinding noise. Their parking lot was completely filled and I thought I would be waiting all day. Brandon at the front counter told me he would get me in relatively quickly and he did, I was shocked! He used a coupon that he found online for me and got me on my way, grinding noise gone in under 2 hours despite not having a single parking spot open. Great service and great people here!

Showed up to get an oil change 50 minutes before closing and was sent away. I would have accepted this answer if the guy behind the counter would have said sorry you have to come back another day. However, he couldnt be bothered. Then I was told they stop doing oil changes an hour before closing. Thankfully Pep Boys is open much later

I came to Modern Tire to get an oil change a few weeks ago. When it comes to cars I have no idea what I am doing. I knew that I needed to have more than just an oil change. I met with Matt and he recommended a number of other services that my car is in need of. I will definitely be back to modern tire again! It was such a great first experience!

I recently had 4 new tires put on my car with one needing to be plugged no more than a week later. I was taken care of at no cost and have numerous free oil changes going forward. Rip off. Charge double for diagnostics and parts. They knew what was wrong after my emissions test, but still charged me again for a other diagnostics, I guess just to make sure that the computer told them the correct info. While they were looking up replacement parts before they told me my quote, I found same parts for half the price.Avoid this place. They do not respect your time and will go above and beyond to charge you double for half the work.

I’ve had my vehicle serviced here a few times this year and have purchased a set of tires from them a few months ago highly recommend bringing your vehicle to them to get it serviced all the techs and service representatives are very well skilled and knowledgeable had the pleasure of dealing with Anthony at the service desk the last time I was there he’s very helpful and knowledgeable makes sure everything is done correctly and in a timely manner highly suggest talking to him if you need anything done on your vehicle! I had a small leak in one of my tires and with a bad experience at another competitor i went to modern. I spoke to Brandon and he got me in for an afternoon appointment when all the other moderns were booked solid. I was in and out in a little over an hour and Brandon and crew took out the nail that was in my tire and sealed up the tire to make it good as new. Brandon also gave $10 off when i mentioned my experience with their competitor and how i was going to write this review. That is great customer service! Weve been going here for a few years now, originally due to the proximity to where we were living and now just because we trust them to take care of our cars. Ive purchased 8 tires, two brake jobs, an O2 sensor, a windshield washer fluid motor, and various other repairs and scheduled/recommended maintenance over the years and their pricing is far better than any other mechanic Ive tried. A few friends go here who used to be tire-and-lube shop employees and agree they have fair pricing and do not attempt to oversell or fix things that are not broken. The waiting room doesnt suck if youre stranded, though theyve given me a few rides to work over the years as well. Overall I highly recommend this place,

My family has been going to modern tire since we moved to newington 28 years ago and theyve never done us wrong. Their point system is sweet you can get $$$ off just by getting your tires and oil changes there. They have great deals on tires every year and go above and beyond for their customers. My skid plate tore off yesterday in that April slush storm and they repaired it for me and had me back on the road in less than an hour at very little cost. Never had an issue with these guys and would highly recommend them.

I went for emissions testing and was told my car failed, but they knew it would fail since the check engine light was on, as that was an automatic fail. I wished they told me that upfront, as I would have addressed that first before paying the $20 for a fail.I agreed to the diagnostic analysis, and went to wait, then was told it might be a little bit before they could get to it, so had arranged for someone shuttle me home. I figured an hour maybe 2, as I was never asked if that was okay and orginally was there for a 20 minute issue.After 5 hours, I called for an update and was told someone would have to call me back. I got the video text and the follow-up call, which contradicted each other - one said the ESI monitor needed to be replaced and then they would know if there was a leak, but I was told over the phone there was a leak that needed to be fixed, along with a list of things including new tires. I explained that I was aware that I needed new tires, hence me asking earlier for the estimate, but not ready to have them done, as I just started getting estimates. I had to say several times, I could only afford the essentials to get my car to pass emissions at this point.I was told the part they needed to fix my car was not there, so would have to wait until the next afternoon to get my car back - that the part needed to be delivered to them before they could fix it. My significant other ran it past our mechanic and said something didnt sound right. They called within an hour questioning cost and the price was adjusted (which I appreciate) and asked when I wanted to pick it up.I called to get an update the next day in the afternoon and they told me they said the car had been ready the night before and told my boyfriend that, which was confusing since they told me the part was not in stock. I picked it up and was told I need to drive it around awhile and come back to have it retested.Overall, Im extremely disappointed, there was no respect for my time as a customer - I had taken time off of work to get a list of things done, emissions being one of them, and wasnt able to do much without a car. Had I known it would take 5+ hours just to get a diagnosis, I would have scheduled something on a different day when I was working and didnt need my car or made other arrangements.I also question them telling me one thing (price and parts not in stock) vs what they told my boyfriend (car suddenly being ready). As a female that doesnt know a whole lot about cars it feels like I was taking advantage of.I had a similar experience several years ago (2012) at the same location, but thought I would try again - my mistake. I left after my car had been there for 30 hours without the emissions being done, and told Ill have to come back for that (no definitive amount of hours or miles that needed to put on for that). Trust and integrity is important to me when selecting who I do business with, and I feel those are lacking.

Stopped at this shop on my way to work with a flat tire . Was greeted by friendly staff as soon as I walked in . Of coarse I was in a rush but needed the problem dealt with quick but correctly . The manger Edwin was great and helped me out and had me back on the road to work in no time ! Highly recommend Modern Tire ! Most genuine people I’ve had work on my car in a long time !

It was my first time going to Modern Tire (at the Newington location) and couldnt have been more pleased with my experience. Brendan helped me pick out the best tires for what my budget was. I got a flat tire the other morning & needed an inexpensive replacement quick. I went down to Modern Tire in Newington and dealt with Brandon who was really knowledgeable and didn’t try to oversell me like most guys try to do to women that don’t know much about cars. Beware!!! Went in to check on having emergency brake cord fixed. Waited 45 minutes and finally a front desk worker said he wanted to share something. Went out to find they had taken off all the tires and told me we needed $1,500 to fix - and we had just paid for a brake inspection 6 months earlier. Wish I had the other reviews before trusting this place - do not go!!! I wanted to give no stars.

Emissions machine wire was no good and they still proceeded to do the emissions test knowing this issue. They stated they tried 3 times car had no check engine lights on of any kind he failed the car due to there emissions machine issue still charged and on top of that car came out lit up like a Christmas tree asked what happened why all these lights on all of a sudden they couldnt come out check the car or anything just said what you want us to do.. failed the car due to there emissions computer wire no good charged us then left the car with all the lights on no help at all. Then he admits its the emmisions machine on there end so why fail it charge us. Unfair unprofessional theives ..

I will never go anywhere else for oil changes, tire issues, etc. Came in today for an oil change after work because I saw a $25 coupon online and I was in and out in 20 minutes! Staff was so pleasant and even went to great lengths to find me an iPhone charger when I needed it. Didnt catch anyones name but that kindness is what prompted me to write this review-- thank you guys so much!! :))

I brought my Jetta to a dealership because of excessive noise/needing new brakes. The dealership was a nightmare and was going to charge me an absurd amount for brakes and other things that were contributing to noise. I decided to get a second opinion and took a trip to Modern Tire. Upon entry I was greeted by Brandon who told me they could get me in soon and there would be no charge to look at it (which was already a plus since the dealership wanted to charge me and told me they wouldnt be able to fit me in for a couple days). They found the issue and eveshowed me a video of my car going over the condition of the brakes and the issue I was having. I left with my noise gone and having spent well under what I would have at the dealer. Thank you to Brandon AND Modern Tire. Will definitely be back!

Excellent customer service. I have been going to Modern Tire since I moved to Connecticut a few years ago. Brendan in the service department is always so helpful and ensures timely service.

Friendly employees, they do good work and all types of mechanical repairs.I like the fact that I can go to any one of their locations, and they can pull up my service records and know what has been done and what needs to be done.My last service at the Rock Hill store, resulted in a video being texted to me of the service process being done on my car, along with the service tech who did it.

The best experience I have had in a tire retailer in years. They did an alignment of all four tires not just the front like to dealers do. These folks are real technicians. A must visit and I am not easy to please. .

I was recently told by another car repair shop that I needed a major repair on my engine because it was leaking fluids. I panicked because of the pricing they gave me on the repair cost. A friend of mine told me to go get a second opinion so I was referred to Modern Tire & Auto Service on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington. Edwin was working the counter that day. I explained to Edwin about what the other auto repair shop told me. Edwin said that his staff at Modern Tire would thoroughly check my truck out. After checking everything out Edwin told me that the other repair shop must have spilled oil down my engine when they were performing my oil change and that I did not have to have anything done to my engine. What a relief! Thank god I went and got a second opinion from Modern Tire & Auto Service. Edwin was able to not only get my truck in right away but I know I can trust them to handle my vehicle issues 100%. I highly recommend this company and their staff!! No other place like it.

Lousy experience. Made appt then watched my car sit in lot for more than 30 minutes, finally brought car in then it took more than an hour to inspect my brakes...and they charged me $50, which they never told me about up front. When I asked I was told they dont do free inspections...when I asked why nobody told me they just repeated it. Mentioned the long wait and was told you dont get seen immediately at a doctor visit. What? Told them this was my first time and wasnt a great experience and they didnt seem to care I was unhappy. Oh yeah and the brake job was quoted at over $800! Sorry, wont be back.
