Rachel at Hyundai Porter Gets 5 Stars!!! We have been part of the Hyundai family for quite the number of years now. We just moved from out of state to Delaware this year and it was time to bring our Kona in for a check up. Moving to Delaware was a great choice for us but the hard part was getting the new doctors, new vet, new car dealership. Rachel made our transition into the lovely State of Delaware super comfortable. She went above and beyond to take care of us and our Kona. Rachel is super accommodating, a complete professional with a wealth of knowledge; plus she has a great personality! Total Gem. We are not part of the Porter Hyundai family thanks to Rachel.

Where to begin…everything was great until it wasn’t then got worse. A simple oil change turned into a shady mom and pop garage where one service will cost you several thousands in repairs after they finished with your car. I wanted an oil change and inspection of my tire pressure sensor. I was convinced to replace some lights that were out. What should have taken 1 hour turned into 4 hours. Then the problems began to snowball after I was assured my car was in great condition except for the tire pressure sensor which needed to be inspected when an actual mechanic was onsite which is Monday through Friday. Running through the list…I got a flat tire, several warning lights (including check engine) on my dashboard and damage to my tag light cover disguised as a repair. If that wasn’t bad enough the customer I experienced afterwards was horrendous. I feel discriminated against when a policy about problems to vehicle after service did not apply to me according to the service manager. The same situations but different results. It wasn’t until I escalated the situation to another manager that I began to see some results. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Porter Hyundai ever again!

This was by far my best car buying experience ever! Crissy was my sales rep and Frank was the financing manager. They went above and beyond to make my car buying experience, literally, stress-free and with such great pleasure! I live some 90 miles out from Porter Hyundai. Local dealers in my area were very aggressive with pricing & financing options or were extremely rude. When I called Porter Hyundai regarding a specific model, trim and color, and ongoing financing promotions Crissy laid it all out for me straight with transparency and efficiency. The car we inquired in the dealerships inventory got sold but she worked with me to get a dealer swap. I put down a deposit and, true to her word, she contacted me back within just a few days with the car we wanted. Crissys professionalism and customer centric approach really deserve praise. No aggressive sales tactics, no ghosting, just straight down to business being sensible to customer needs (she saved us from making unnecessary trips) and very friendly too in person. On the financing front, Frank was also awesome. He went over our credit scores, and reviewed the paperwork with us step by step, summarizing and making sure everything was correct in the sales contract. Dont miss out on this dealership. Its a true gem and Ill be sure to give my business again when time comes to upgrade the SUV (eyeing on the Tucson Hybrid).

My experience with this dealership has been special. but you have to ask for Kyle Coghan! He is by far the best sales associate that I have had the pleasure of dealing with. My girlfriend and I went in there and really did not know a lot about what Hyundais had to offer. We were looking at the Honda Accords and the Toyota Camry. We walked in and simple asked Kyle to sell us on why this car is better then the rest. He was very honest with us, and put it all out there. He took extra time with us and showed us multiple cars that day. Did not pressure us into a sale or anything. Gave us an outstanding deal on a trade in for our car as well. Kyle Coghan, he is the best guy there and will give you the best help.

Hyundai dealer was positive and helpful in finding and acquiring the car of our choice, the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue Trim. There was some confusion due to last minute changes to discounts, but some effort was made to assuage the loss of one discount by increasing the trade-in price of our traded car. All paper work was handled efficiently via tablet digital signatures. We were not prepared for extra purchases offered at time of sale such as increased warranties. With the great warranties Hyundai has it did not make sense to us to tack on more time and miles for a warranty, but this was a hard spur of the moment decision. A little more transparency and inclusion throughout process regarding discounts is in order. We love the car. It is quiet and we love learning to alter our driving to get the best mileage on our gas. Lets all move toward non-fossil fuel options.

Waiting over two hours for an oil change is insane. Wish we would’ve purchased elsewhere because this dealership loves to play games.New buyers make sure to watch the screen when they flip them back and forth during the finance stage because the guy we had tried to sneak a few already discussed things in.If you have purchased from this dealer, good luck with all your future services. It seems like they love to make the people that refuse any unnecessary services wait. Was considering the new Ioniq when it releases, but I think my time with Hyundai has come to a close.

One doesnt look forward to taking time out of their day for an oil change or car repair...but Porter Hyundai makes it the most painless and pleasant experience it can be. They are honest and accommodating. The facility is clean and their waiting area is hospitable, offering coffee, bottles of water, and TV. I always get in and out in a convenient time frame. The agents (especially Mike) answer all questions and provide visuals on the computer to further explain what they are saying. One day, on a recent trip to PA, I thought there was a problem with my car. I was late for an appointment, so didnt have time for Porter Hyundai to inspect my car. At the same time, I didnt want to embark on a long trip through back roads if my car needed a repair. I pulled into Hyundais parking lot and explained my problem to Mike, at the front desk. He came outside and looked under the hood of my car (checking fluid levels, making sure everything was attached, etc.), sat inside and did a visual. He explained the problem, which turned out to be no problem. I confidently went on my way. He could have stated I needed an appointment, and I would have understood. Its this type employee that is an asset to a company. Mike represents Porter Hyundai well. If I owned a company, I would want to hire all Mikes. Ive dealt with Porter Hyundai since 2013, and Porters, in general, since the 70s. I always come back. They are like the friendly neighborhood dealership of yesteryear.

I’ve owned my 2014 Pre owned SantaFe Suv Hyundai vehicle for 4+ years. I purchased the vehicle at Porter Hyundai dealership in Newark, Delaware. This vehicle had all the features I was looking for in buying a high end vehicle. Sales and finance personnel were great to work with.Since ownership I’ve been happy with the overall performance of my vehicle until recently. I began experiencing difficulty with the Bluelink feature in my system. I reached out to the # 800 number for assistance. It took days just to get through and speak to a representative. The suggestions I was giving to help reset the link did not work and they could not offer any further help. It was suggested I have my service dealer look into the problem.During one of my scheduled visits a few months ago, I did indeed share my concern and frustrating about the Bluelink feature. The technician’s assessment was the radio system had to be replaced at the tune of $750.00 + labor cost! Management did attempt to reach out to the Corporate Hyundai office for assistance and warranty coverage but corporate refused to cover the cost of replacement and didn’t care. Corporate waged their hands of any further involvement. No further help or support was offered to satisfactorily resolve the issue.I argued the point with management at Porter Hyundai personnel, Mike was sensitive to my concern and out of pocket expensive but could not move forward with replacement without Corporate office approval!.....So now I am stuck with driving the vehicle I always wanted without being able to use all the radio features. Imagine everyday getting into your car, you turn on the radio and all you see is the Bluelink feature trying to load but NEVER does, you can hear the radio but cannot see what station your on because it does not appear on the panel board so you have to manually change the channel to try to tune into a station. You cannot use your CD feature, you can’t use Mapquest or any other built in feature in the system!So I’ve spent $32,000.00 on a high end Hyundai SUV only to have the radio system with Bluelink feature fail after 4+ years of ownership . This was not a good investment in purchasing this model.Consumers beware of all the bells and whistles manufactures are building in vehicles - the more features you have the higher percentage for breakdown you may experience in replacing. The replacement of my system should definitely be covered by Hyundai and not an outrageous out of pocket expense to me the customer!Velina BrittonNewark, DE

I hate leaving a negative review but my bad experiences just pile up with Porter. First, my salesperson was not responsive to issues with inspection being reimbursed when I bought the car. When I needed a part replaced that was under warranty I had to make more than one trip because first they didnt have the part (after waiting almost two hours) and the next time they realized the part needed welded and they dont do welding. So they needed another part. I had to contact the dealership to buy out my lease and asked how to start the process. She said contact Hyundai. I will not be using Porter for any future purchases and will definitely contact a different Hyundai for my buy out.

Got charged $163 to receive a $4000 estimate for repairs. This must have been the send him to the showroom price. Ive given this service center thousands over the years and only came here for oil changes, the last of which they used conventional oil without telling me after years of using full synthetic. Thanks for the lower gas mileage. The visit before this, I was charged for a part I didnt actually need. Last time you get any of my money.

I set up an appointment for 27 August 805 am. The vehicle was dropped off the night before. It was explained to the intake person that four dash lights were on to include the check engine light and ABS. The next day Hyundai had the vehicle from 8 am till 3:30 pm to do an engine check to retrieve engine codes and a recall action. I called twice to check on the vehicle. Each time I called I spoke to three customer service reps that asked me about 5 questions before they patched me through to the mechanic. The customer reps had no idea what car was on their lot for service or what was in the garage and they had no idea or were too lazy or maybe not trained well to retrieve the information from their data base.I was advised that a tire sensor and an ABS Sensor needed to be replaced, cost $1000. HYUNDAI PORTER WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME $174.00 for a tire sensor that I purchased for $93. HYUNDAI PORTER WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME $411 for an ABS Speed Sensor that I purchased, online from an authorized genuine parts dealer for $139. 00. Labor was being charged at $412. I declined the work. Was charge $139 for diagnostics and when my wife asked for the document which listed the parts THEY REFUSED TO GIVE HER THE DOCUMENT WHICH SHE PAID $139 for!!!!! I went to the dealership, spoke to the Service Manager. Related all of this to him and he was willing to reduce the labor due to my troubles here today. In the end too much in the way of poor character work ethic, lying, laziness, lack of customer service occurred for me to go back here. If your car is under warranty then you are covered. If not - GO HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Probably the worst experience I have had with an auto shop. Retired military 35 years, retired Police Officer. These people do not care.

I planned on searching several car dealers in search of my new car. My old car was going on 10 years old with over 130,000 miles, but still going strong. I have a long daily commute, though, so we thought it was time to replace old reliable. I searched websites, drove by dealers and came up with a plan. My first stop was Porter, and Wayne S was happy to give me the low down on the Sante Fe. In the same visit, he showed me the price with discounts, rebates and my trade in and let me take the car home overnight (it fit in the garage!) I looked at 2 other dealers and was back at Porter shortly thereafter. So far, I couldnt be happier with my 2020 Sante Fe, thankful for a great experience.

This is literally one of the worst places to go to service your car. They pick and choose when to pick up your calls, the service area. They do not work in a timely fashion. Make up frivolous reasons as to why they pick up one number but not the other and they do not return voice mails. Literally so dissatisfied! And the customer service is trash. BUT there technicians are very amazing people and work really hard. Meanwhile the people inside have terrible attitudes and a lackadaisical.

Wayne had no problem bringing me car after car to try and test drive, even though I was clearly shopping for a lower budget vehicle. I felt like he got us a price that was very fair. Then he did a wonderful job of explaining all the features of the car. One final thing to note: he worked with us a total of 2 1/2 hours after closing time! Walid did an excellent job-again after hours-explaining the terms of finance and offers available with that.

I brought my 2015 Hyundai to have some work done. Check engine light was on and the air bag light for passenger seat. I was greeted as I came in and was taken care of right away by Mike. Came back about half hour later with a list of things needing to be done. Mike let me know that most was covered under warranty but the problem was I was 14,000 miles over warranty. Told me sometimes they pay part or all of it. That he would do his best to get warranty to pay for it. Gave me a rental car until they found out about warranty. Called me that evening and said he was able to get them to pay for it all. Was able to keep rental car until done.Only work I had to pay for was normal maitence. Got car back less then a week and is running great. Thank you Porter Hyundai for your wonderful services. Will be buying my next car from them for sure and having all my work done there from now on.

On one of my previous feedback comments, I said it would be nice to know what to expect on regular maintenance items before I walked into the service area. On this visit, I knew what to expect and she told me what I should expect for the next service as well. That way I am not surprised. It is also nice to have the green, yellow, and red indications so if I cannot afford an item, I can prepare for it the next time I come. No surprise is good!

During the COVID outbreak, car needed its 30k maintenance, plus oil change. Dealer was well prepared for masking and social distancing, it would have be better to block off some of the extra chairs to ensure separation but since I was one of two people in the waiting room it was not necessary.

Jeff Scott was really courteous and helpful, he went out of his way to get me the color of the car I wanted. If you are a Hyundai owner this is where you want to take your vehicle for servicing. What a immense difference this maintenance department was from another dealership in the area. The prices for services were reasonable but what set it apart for me was the printed personalized service inspection sheet I received along with my receipt. It details services that are in good repair, services that will need future attention, and services that need immediate attention. Great for a blue collar person like myself who needs to budget his hard earned dollars. Additionally the maintenance manager sent me a text the next day to make sure that I was satisfied with the service his team had provided. No other dealership has ever bothered to follow up on their work before. Most just want to take your money and be done with you. I’ve been to the dealership several times for repairs and have been disappointed each time. We took our car in for a factory recall (replacing an ABS sensor) then the next day the battery has two dead cells. We have it towed back and they claim it’s not their fault. We eat the cost of the new battery plus tow and forget about it. Ten months later another dead battery; check it with a multimeter and it’s got zero volts meaning something separated on the inside. When I pulled the battery to return it, as it’s still covered by the warranty, I found out they didn’t even bolt it down. Take it there and they can’t test it because their battery testing machine can’t read a completely fried battery (my $10 multimeter could). They fork over a new battery, but the kicker is when we asked them why wasn’t it secured when they installed the new battery last time their response was “if the holddown wasn’t there when we received the car, we don’t put it on”. In other words they couldn’t take the time to inform the customer they needed a $9 part that would have saved them from replacing a $90 battery ( the could have at least put a zip tie around the battery and let me know I needed to fix it) As a bonus they also did not put on the battery insulating sleeve, which I saved from the original battery before it was scraped, claiming since the sleeve was old it wouldn’t fit the new battery. When I was installing the battery hold down I was able to slip the sleeve on no problem. This entire conversation was had with the service manager of the dealership.Update 3/2020: Had to replace the radiator recently and found both the bolt and hold-down between the fender and undercarriage liner. Amazing, their level of incompetence and laziness.

I was given a quote over the phone for replacing my rear brakes that sounded reasonable and comparable to the replacement I had several years ago. When the bill came, I was charged nearly $150 more than the estimate. I had specifically asked on the phone if the quote included parts and labor, and I was told yes. Conveniently, the $150 upcharge was marked as labor on my bill. When I questioned what I was quoted over the phone, I was told that they must have been mistaken. Just beware of the estimate you are given and get it in writing.

Great experience! had my 2009 Sonata serviced here after the charging system warning light came on. I thought it could be my alternator. They were able to take a look and it turned out to be only the drive belt. From my first phone call to them, to picking up my car after they fixed it the experience was great. Everyone I dealt with was professional and courteous. I highly recommend Porter Hyundai.

The employees were fairly pleasant but be warned your car might not actually get fixed here and you will be charged for things you dont need. I brought my sonata in to have my headlights electrical checked because one side was not working. The bulb was not burned out and worked perfect in the other side. I waited 4 hours and had to call for over an hour to get someone to pick up the phone to see if my car was done. When I finally got ahold of them they said that I didnt install the bulb properly, and I caused it to blow. They wanted to charged me 83$ to replace it. They told me you could see it had burn marks on it. Thats how I know no one even looked at my headlight, because the bulb still looked brand new when I took it home and looked at it after. I also tried it in the other side when I got home just to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the bulb was fine. They completely lied to me and never even looked at my headlight. I dont know if they were being sexist and just assumed Im a girl who didnt know how to replace a bulb properly (so females beware), or they were just lazy. Either of which are completely unacceptable and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

Took my car in for a regular service thinking it only needed an oil change. Got a 20% off coupon in an email, great. They called me saying the car needed new break pads on both back tires and two bulbs replaced. Wasn’t expecting that, but ok. Over the phone they estimated that it would be about $400 total. I went in to pay and they charged me $500. They then told me that they couldn’t apply the coupon as that has to be applied when I first bring the car in for some reason. No mention of that in the email. Why lie to me about how much the service will cost? Why can’t the coupon be applied at checkout? Not taking my car here when it’s due for its next service.

I told Mike my concerns about my brakes. They proceeded to do a free brake inspection. Afterward I was told I didn t need just yet. Good news for me. I can’t with this place. They are the most convenient dealership close to my home and work but they are ridiculous! I have to ask for an oil change sticker so I know when to bring it back, “express” has a different definition for them then anyone else and they charged for a tire rotation on a brand new car (less than 26,000 miles this year) go ANYWHERE BUT HERE

In for an oil change. Inexpensive, granted. Waiting area is nice. Big tv, single serve coffee. Needed all that for a near 2 hour wait. Just dont go on Monday. Other than the wait, I recommend this place.
