As a resident of the neighborhood/frequent patron, but also as a global brand experience manager in the consumer industry I had an absolutely unfathomable experience in this store that I would like to warn others about when going to speak to someone about an unsatisfactory purchase.I sent a friend who is staying with me from out of town to this store to purchase a specific liqueur for a recipe and when asking about the location of the liqueur within the store, was aggressively suggested to purchase a different liqueur from who she assumed was an employee, but turned out to be a liquor representative in the store during this time. Unfortunately when tried, this replacement was not suitable for the needs and I went over to the store with receipt from the previous day to explain the situation.In my experience as a global experience manager for consumer brands, we take pride in serving our consumers and making their experiences positive. The problem was not that the manager of the store couldnt offer any tangible solution to me (e.g. replacement of the purchase for the original request, a small discount on next purchase, etc.,) but rather that there was no apology for the situation or the unpleasant experience of this purchase. Instead the manager told me it was my friends fault and that no one forced her to make this purchase, and also that she wasnt responsible for behavior of a 3rd party representative that happened to be in her store. I again explained that if I was her, I would personally like to know that a 3rd party representative was inappropriately pushing consumers toward a replacement for their own gain, but this message was completely disregarded by this manager.Overall one of the worst customer service experiences Ive had as a resident of NYC and I will never patron this store again, and also will make sure to tell my network of my experience so they never receive treatment like this as a customer of this business, where additionally prices are higher than many surrounding stores. Extremely disappointing.

Ordered a birthday present for a friend here after another local store had let me down. Lindsey at Morton’s was fast, friendly and efficient, sorting out my order, gift wrap and message in under 2 minutes. Delivered within the hour. Fantastic service and worth the cost.

Nice selection of wine and liquor. The wine selection is somewhat limited but solid, consisting of mostly established, mainstream names. They may not have a lot of odd wines, but you can easily find a good wine for a reasonable price. The liquor selection is similar, good premium choices, but rare rums and bourbon cant be found here. Vendors occasionally are on-site for free tastings.

This place has no idea how to treat customersthey are living in the past with the aggressive guy behind the till shouting at customers... this belongs in the past and if doesn’t effect their business today, it will in the future. there are plenty of places in nyc to buy wine, this is not one of them.

I found a very specific type of Jerez wine that is my favourite. You can find gems there. Very reasonable prices too
