I have used this store to make custom lampshades for me for over 20 years, and their work has always been superb. Whether it was an unusual shape, or a difficult fabric, they always did a beautiful job. Last weekend I was looking at a pair of lampshades they made for me, with 15 years ago, with pleated fabric that matched the curtains. Wit the lights shining through - what a pleasure!!

It’s about more than oriental lampshades- it’s about all things lighting and lamps- for example -I had and thanks to Oriental, still have a lamp I’ve loved since 1971.I guess that qualifies the lamp as an antique - but it doesn’t look very old. And it doesn’t look very mid- century modern either.It originally came with a white patent square shade that really needed replacing.Called first, brought in the lamp and Oriental gave me some superb choices that updated the look and enhanced the design of the base.The black shade I chose ( the recommended shade) looks fab and it’s just a gorgeous lamp thanks to Oriental.And then- they changed the plugs on my two lovely little lamps I had in a cottage in France so I could plug them in here in NYC.Prices are super fair and realistic.The service is professional, expert and the advice is honest.Oh that there were more services and retailers like Oriental Lamp Shade in NYC!

This company really knows their craft. A lamp shade may seem like no big deal, however the right shade can really make the lamp even better than it would otherwise appear. Prices are very fair. Oriental Lamp ShadeI originally purchased a pair of silk shades from them about 15 years ago.The lining inside one tore so I was trying to replace it. Once the salesmanlooked at it, it was clear it couldnt be repaired. I purchased a new pair, and picked them up two weeks later. I received very individual service and could not have been happier. I brought in a photo of the lamp, sans shade, and asked what would work as I bought the lamp in a flea market without a shade. Therefore, I had no idea of what had gone before. Not only did the salesperson advise me on size and shape, but he went further and asked what styles of shades I already had on lamps in the same room. He said that shades talk to each other, a concept I had never heard of before, but when I thought about it, it made perfect sense.
