Great grocery store. My highlights:* Prepared food is really good. Pasta, ribs, chicken, etc.* Steaks can be amazing. Very expensive.* Hamburger patties awesome.* Their prepared sushi is really, really good.* Veggies really fresh. Everythings really fresh.
Citarella, This store is absolutely phenomenal everything is so fresh meat fish produce and the staff is so helpful clean you must shop. I shop at nowhere else but at this Gourmet market.
Its ok and the prices arent too expensive but its a small store. The two uptown are better.
The quality of Citarella is consistent and the selection is better than most markets in town. Fun to just stroll through and see all the fun imported products.
Small but perfect little citarella. Best fish in town
Went in there to grab some snacks and I was amazing the variety of snacks I could choose 😋 👍
Great consistency, great quality ingredients, even during the worst days of the Covid 19 pandemic, a good community place.
Great store, but pricey!
Expensive, but the best meat and fish in the neighborhood.
Best fresh fish in town
$5 almond croissant wasnt fresh and tasty. Dessert with berries had a smell of not fresh refrigerator. Dont recommend it!!
Love it. Fabulous fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. Also excellent prepared food.
Bought Dessert for a Picnic-Everyone especially loved the Raspberry lemon Tart .
Nice place but very pricey
As always everything was fresh and well stocked. Great cashier Julio? I think his bane was. Fast and efficient but personable. So many dont even want to speak these days. Julios brief but pleasant conversation ended a good day on a great note.
Great Market extremely good quality of meats and produce but kind of expensive
Crazy ignorant food &cashiers, l want to see them in fire
Best Meats, fish and vegetables!
This place is over priced. The staff is very arrogant. The bread station is getting smaller and expensive. The cooked food section is coming down. The quality of the food is really bad...not a good experiece.
Citarella continues the be the vanguard when it comes to the finer things. If its a bit obscure and fancy, chances are they have not one but many versions of it.
Stop to pick up soup and bread for sick boyfriend. Really limited selection of soup. 2 quarts of soup and loaf of bread 🍞. Need up spending $30.00. Will never complain about the prices at whole foods again. Massive sticker shock.
Basic, good fish! Made real gefilte fish using carp, pike, whitefish. Chilling now. Have my red horseradish at the ready! Wow!
Great consistency in quality ingredients.
Nice place, crowded around the holidays but still the staff was able to walk through food options and prep work to a newbie like me. Solid team thanks for the steaks!
Doesnt get better
Nice market with many good selections
Between my mom and I, we spent over a hundred dollars. The cheesecake was like a bite of heaven and I dont typically like cheesecake. The almond cookies are second to none! The cupcakes were good but I have had better. We also got a chocolate swirl bread that has something similar to fudge in it that, if you like chocolate, is really tasty! This was our second visit to a Citarella bakery and well definitely be back the next time were in the city!
I was very dissappointed to learn that Citarella does not accept EBT/SNAP. Google reflects an article from 07 declaring that they accept EBT. But that was only for the Harlem store, (which is now closed). Unfortunate that this long time New York institution choses to make sure that their products cant be made avilable for those who use EBT.
Best fresh fish in town!
We called in here during our Big Red bus hop on-off tour. Really is a nice spot & choice is good. We grabbed some sandwiches and drinks and had them in the cafe seating area. Staff were nice, restroom clean so all good.
Nice selection and good quality but their prices are ridiculous
I really love this Citarella, despite being overpriced for certain produce, it is consistent, fresh and reliable. I also applaud them for the way theyre handling this crisis, disinfecting carts and baskets, providing masks for their employees, far before other stores did. The manager or whoever that guy is thats always around wearing all white is on top of his managing game! Only reason im not giving 5 stars is because the roasted chicken has become very salty lately, hope they can fix this.
Neatly organized. Good selection of produce, meat, fish and cheeses. Also I lost my wallet here and the wonderful staff held onto it and I retrieved it the following day.
My favorite place to go for fresh seafood and fresh baked bread.
Wonderful urban food resource in West Village. Next door to Joffrey Ballet school. All sorts of wonderful things to eat. Take out, cheeses, fruits, veggies, dairy, bakery. They do have some limited groceries but it’s really about meals and good things to EAT. Expensive but worth it.
High quality products. I trust buying fish here.
Firstly, I should say that I love Citarella stores here in W. village and in Southampton. However, my experience today was extremely disappointing. I bought a container of turkey meatballs from deli counter on Monday 12/9. When I served them over pasta for my family that evening, I discovered it was going bad. We didnt eat them. When I returned the container of meatballs today, the floor manager on duty, Navindra, rudely questioned the validity my complaint about the meatballs. He responded that they didnt sell the spoiled meatballs, basically insinuating that I am making it all up. All but short of calling me a liar. Very bad business. I live in the neighborhood, and have been shopping at Citarella for the past 11 years, at least 3 times per week. I have never returned anything to the store. A manager shouldnt treat customer that way. On the bright side, Anita, the cashier, promptly apologized gave me credit for the item. She apologized profusely saying that she sees me several times per week and sorry that I had a bad experience. I must spend at least 7-800 per month at the store. I will continue to go to the store, but the floor manager should be trained better to respond to customers concerns.
Good meat. Good bakery. Good prepared food
Our favorite place to do grocery shopping. Workers are friendly and very helpful always.
I generally like the store. It has a good selection of prime meats and LOTS of seafood. The produce is always top notch and they have a great selection of cheeses and baked goods. Prices are normal for New York City. The store is small though so during peak shopping periods it starts to feel pretty claustrophobic.
The best place to shop for food thats quick to prepare. If youre someone that orders-in 2 or 3 nights per week, Id recommend it. I dont come here for large food shops given their prices, but if youre the kind of person that wants a few options thats the same as takeaway but 50% cheaper, its your kinda place. Butchers counter is super knowledgeable as well.. good guys back there.
Everything here is delicious but also expensive.
Wide variety of prepared foods, freshly baked goods including breads. In addition, gourmet groceries and fresh meats are available. Drop some dough to eat very well and guilt free. My favorite gourmet store in the city. Bravo for Citarella
The pluses: they had everything I go there for in stock; their food is consistently delicious and high quality. Service, however, is another story: I had to wait several minutes before anyone at the prepared-food counter even acknowledged my presence; the two - three employees behind this counter all seemed to have better things to do than serving customers. Likewise, the cashier who rang me up was so busy chatting with a co-worker that she almost neglected to ring up one of my items; I brought it to her attention but am now thinking that I shouldnt have since getting into trouble would have served her right.
Very nice, clean and fully stocked!
Its very expensive. Saw a homeless person fishing through the food bar. Told 2 people including the manager and absolutely nothing was done. The contaminated chicken was left for unsuspecting customers to choose from. I personally have purchased food from that self serve bar and now Im terrified to buy self serve ever again. Between the prices and that experience I would not recommend Citarella. Sucks there arent many more grocery stores in this neighborhood to choose from.
Not a lot of kosher for Passover options
All Excellent food * & More !
Cholent
Pretty good chicken soup 👍
Low-quality And overpriced.
People occasionally say that they make just as good food at home. They dont. Shop here because you want food that is better than what you usually eat. Brioche instead of just bread, for example. A beautifully smoked slice of lox; a guyere that complements your palate. Then go home with a smile.
Lots of choices for heat and eat. Looks clean and fresh. Staff NOT friendly or helpful. Left without buying anything.
Wow. A super medium sized foodmarket in central New York with an extensive range of produce, ready meals, cheese, fresh meat, beer, some essential grocery lines, a delicatessen counter and an enormous range of fresh fish. Pleasant and helpful staff eager to assist. A bit pricey but its all about location! Very impressed😊
Great market with tons of fresh pre made options.
Very bad experience today with the fish area wasnt the Hispanic workersWas the italian one the treatment poorly after been a client for over 15 years in upper west and west village store ask for 4 life lobster he give me 2 of the wrong size I ask for pound and a quarter he argues the he didnt have more of those when I saw in the tank one more and the I want swith for that he snap on me super rude and disrespect way ask for no treat me that way start to be even more rudeSuper disappointed been ffg oing to the store 3/4 times a week spending a great amount of money love the products and the serviceBut I guess this person doesnt appreciate having a job
I love the prepared foods here, especially the brussel sprouts. My dad loves the lasagna. Everything Ive tried has been great, but the lamb chops were too rare for me. They have gourmet groceries, a bakery, a butcher and full fish market, and more (and never the smell of fish inside!) A bit pricey but worth it.
Its pretty good, but not great. Salmon roe was not up to my standards, and the fish department not as clean smelling as I would want. But it is OK for most items.
Good food. Seafood is freshly sold there. I might question the clean side because I wont say where Ive seen it but for a fact I can admit Ive seen cockroaches. But hey.. what restaurant hasnt seen some at some point? We all live after all on what we cant see cant hurt.
Citarella sets the bar for gourmet markets in NYC with its top-notch selection of fish, meats, produce, cheese and more. Youll probably drop your whole paycheck here but the quality of ingredients you can purchase here is rivaled by few other markets in the area. Their in-house brand soups and sauces are also very good - the turkey chili being the frequently raved about item.
An all around place to have food for a feast...a bit pricey but well worth it.
Citarella Gourment Market, has some really good foods. A bit pricey and the store is not laid out all that well. Its worth a try.
Food was good. Seafood is freshly sold there. I might question the clean side because I wont say where Ive seen it but for a fact I can admit Ive seen cockroaches. But hey.. what restaurant hasnt seen some at some point? We all live after all on what we cant see cant hurt.
Fresh ripe produce, well made hot and cold food, everything is so tasty.
Mediocre fare for high dollar prices. Use your better judgment and move on to somewhere else. Too many places in this town to settle for mediocre.
My favorite place to do my shopping
Definitely better for meats, seafood and fresh fruits and veggies than the average NYC grocery store. Not cheap but same as other specialty markets. Soup salad and hot food bars, but to me the hot food looks unappetizing. Maybe thats just me.
Amazing place. Anything youre looking for, anything youre craving for, you may find it here. Be it pasta, pastries, salads, or even sushi, these guys have an awesome stock here. Its the kind of market youd like to have near you if youre living in the Village. Fresh, organic produce, an impressive selection of cheese, sausages, seafood, and bread, and prêt a manger delicatessen available here as well.
Wonderful produce and fish
Great place to get pre cooked food on the run holidays are great for ordering great fresh food breads and cakes
Way better than whole foods, worth the trip into Manhattan
THis grocery store is very pricey and not a practical place to buy items that are otherwise much, much cheaper is other grocery stores. However, this store has excellent qualities and is a great place to buy a huge selection of fresh fish, meats, cheeses and breads. They provide personalized service to clean fish the way you want it.
Very fine market. Best quality products and vegetables in Manhattan. A little bit pricy, but totally worth it. (A must for chocolate lovers- get the gluten free chocolate cake)
Seafood and meats are exceptionally fresh
Very nice store. Wide selection of good cuts of meat and seafood. Can be a little expensive, but youre getting quality cuts. They also sell other items like a small grocery store would.
White aged cheddar cheese the best Ive ever had and excellent $1.00 coffee
Has a variety of pastries. And pasta
A very awesome attention from the employees......... excellent.......
Good fun trying to decide what major percentage of the weekly budget should be spent on beautifully presented, fresh and tasty delicacies as well as staples.
Professional staff and overall service
Always an excellent selection in every dept.
Not many choices for canned sardines. But many selections of dried pasta. (and deli!)
Good fresh food
Citarella has excellent meat and fish and their produce is fresh and well cleaned. The prices are high and they are not a full grocery so dont expect to be able to solely shop here. Their cheese department is not as good as dean & deluca was (they are seemingly in financial trouble and hence the store is a shell of what it used to be) but they have a good selection and fresh burrata and buffalo mozzarella which are two of my favorite every day cheeses.
Amazing selection of deli cold cuts cheese n meat along with fruits vegetables and a varied assortment, great staff
Great shopping atmosphere.
Really expensive
Gabagould....pecco, sausage ravioli, ricotta, fresh mozarelle, semolina bread and some dried tomatoes. Fuggetabouit.. .
Best deli. Great cheeses. All fresh good produce. Fresh fish counter. Prices are reasonable for such high quality.
Favorite stop for seafood
I saw a woman with 2 dogs and no one said a word to her. I was about to buy some cooked food, but it turned me off. They werent service dogs and you could tell.she was a regular. I am not paying for food with animals walking around until they are service pets. These were not
