One of my favorite spots in NYC for everything pastry. Excellent croissants and other creations based on croissant dough. I love that all of the items I tried are perfect sweetness, which doesn’t overkill you with sugar. And their espresso drinks are perfect! In addition to indoor sitting, they have couple outdoors tables and benches to enjoy your coffee and pastry.
Went at 4pm on Saturday and they were out of the brioche donut and cinnamon roll so I went back on Sunday morning. There was a line outside right at opening at 8am but it went quick. The chocolate chip cookie, vanilla choux, and brioche donut were all alright. I didn’t find them to be anything special but the chocolate explosion cookie was really good. Definitely my favorite followed by the cinnamon roll. The customer service here is great and it’s definitely worth trying out!
A donut made for the sophisticated crowd. It was elegant and delightful. Unlike many other donuts, it had hints of sweetness but didn’t overwhelm you with sugar. The filling was piped perfectly throughout. The texture soft and reminiscent of a croissant. Each bite was satisfying. Albeit a little expensive, it’s worth your dollars.
A tiny little spot with delicious pastries and coffee. High quality, reasonable prices, super fresh. Attentive and professional staff, clean ambiance. Too small to linger for long, but great to-go.
Can I just say that if your looking to taste heaven youve found it here. I am blessed to have such a wonderful tasting chocolate cake in my life. This cake taste like a warm chocolate hug. Its soft it has NO chemical taste...some ppl know what I mean. Its SUPER rich! So rich you can hardly finish it but you have to because it would be sin to waste. The employees are very kind and their other bakery good taste amazing as well however, their chocolate cake takes the number one spot on my taste buds. Would I marry this cake...the answer is yes.
I tried their signature brioche donut, and I’ve got to say- I was pleasantly surprised! It was a hot hot day and I wasn’t particularly craving a pastry, but this was the first time I’d walked by when they weren’t actually sold out so I decided to get it anyway.Despite not being in the mood for something sweet and heavy, it tasted so good! The vanilla custardy filling was perfectly textured, the donut was soft and pillowy, and the cinnamon sugar dusting made it the right amount of sweet. Soooo good
Weve always loved this bakery, but Mah-Ze-Dahr really knocked it out of the park for our wedding. Umber helped us with our wedding cake -- dark chocolate cake with chocolate and passion fruit mousse and a chocolate glaze -- and it was incredible! Delicious, everyone loved it. Great, seamless experience! Definitely visit this bakery when youre nearby -- youll love anything you try!
The tomato galette was priced a little high but I gotta say was worth it. Flaky but not brittle, just the right amount of richness. Very nice employees here too.
We are fans of croissant and my friends recommended us to try croissant from Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery. The decor is simple, cozy and great for a weekend breakfast. All of their pastries look so appetizing and we had a hard time making up our decisions. We had Vanilla Choux, Brioche Doughnut and Turkey & Gruyere Croissant to share with 2 cups of coffee. The croissant was delicious and the layer was crispy with soft texture inside. However, what really impressed us is the cream inside the Vanilla Choux and Brioche Doughnut. I am not into Vanilla flavors but their vanilla cream was amazingly delicious. It’s the best vanilla cream I have ever had in my life. It’s creamy, simply great and not artificial at all. It’s so popular that it was sold out in the afternoon when we visited again to get more. We highly recommend to visit them earlier in the morning.
Nice small bakery with delicious looking pastries and cakes and good service. We got a selection of goods - fair in taste and texture
Delicious cheesecake with lemony taste and chocolate cookie crust!! Friendly and honest staff that reminded people to wear masks.
First of all...AMAZING! I don’t live in NY. I ordered a bunch of stuff and had them shipped to my daughters and myself for Thanksgiving. So...We all got the marshmallows! Let’s just get that part out of the way. HA! One shipment had the granola and the dark chocolate explosion cookies. The next package had the Mah-Ze-Dahr bars, the 3rd shipment had the pumpkin loaf. Finally, I got myself the Autumn box. So everyone got their items within two days. The packaging was beautiful. We had our family Zoomsgiving where we all tried the decadent treats. It was so much fun and we loved EVERYTHING. As soon as I’m done with this review I’m ordering more for Christmas. Yeah...I’m done with this review. :)
The cheesecake was just okay. I don’t see the value in spending $78 for their cheesecake when I can go to Costco and spend half the price for the same taste. Overall their cheesecake is mediocre, I don’t see the value at all. This bakery was a let down, over priced for underwhelming value. What a shame.
We went to this place multiple times already, first had a hazelnut nutella brioche, it was very-very good, the taste was absolutely on point, not too sweet, and the toasted hazelnut on top is insane! The devils chocolate cake is good too but could be less sweet, and the seasonal pumpkin cake was just ok. What I absolutely recommend is the cheesecake, it has a slightly lemony taste, it’s so fantastic. The staff could be more friendly, though.
Awesome selection and friendly staff. Melt in the mouth cookies. Cheesecake was my favorite.
ABSOLUTELY, HANDS-DOWN, THE MOST FABULOUSLY FANTASTICAL CROISSANTS (ask for their SEASONAL sweet and youll see what the caps are about) IN NEW YORK CITY & THE WORLD OVER!!!
First time and it won’t be my last. This bakery is crack! The brioche doughnut is definitely what shines here with its creamy vanilla filling. I’ve never had a doughnut feel so pillowy and soft in my mouth while being so delicious and sweet (but not too sweet. It’s sweet enough to the point where you could eat 10 and not even notice LOL it’s that good!). I also had their cookie (regular chocolate chip and chocolate explosion). Both are amazing in their own ways. I prefer the chocolate explosion one though as it is sweeter. I had the vanilla choux and it was as expected: splendid. The creamy vanilla really is what makes this place so different from the others. It isn’t boring and it isn’t artificial tasting. They’ve really put love into their food. My sister the brownie and she said it was good too. I wanted to try their scone but they didn’t have it as it was 30 minutes before closing so maybe another time.
Friendly people. Fantastic food. The prices are justified.
Best and most humane and socially aware customer service experience everrr.Kindly greeted. Treated like family. Got a super solid recommendation with a personal experience to back it up.If I did not know better I would think they were aliens. Rare breed for sure. And just because I know you all are salivating to know the recommendation was for the chocolate ganache cake...mmm mmm mmm I am a life long fan now but beware its not for everyone as my wife wasnt crazy about it.
Try the brioche donut! Banana bread and fruit tea also good
Everything is delicious! Treat yourself
Love their ganache chocolate cake and cookies!
Brilliant desserts in a tiny space. I highly recommend the doughnuts, but everything is delicious.
Absolutely lovely bakery with a nice selection. I had a chocolate brownie that was delicious.
Went for the cheesecake. Not for me. Fell in LOVE with the devil in ganache chocolate cake. Slice of heaven, made with love - an absolute must. Staff are kind as well - enjoy!
**Ordered takeout during COVID pandemicFood/drink*Brioche doughnut - very good*Heavenly cheesecake - very good; dark chocolate graham cracker crust was different but nice touch
Incredibly delicious and creative pastry selection…highly popular with my kids!
Delicious pastry and finger foods, lovely interior, pleasant staff.
Delicious! The coffee is on point and so is the pastries! mAh ZE Dar!
This bakery has THE BEST chocolate cake. What makes it so delectable is that its just simple chocolate cake made with high-quality ingredients. Once the sweet and smooth chocolate ganache hits your tongue, you know youve had a bite of heaven. The chocolate cake is moist and not too sweet, so youll definitely want to take bite after bite of this one.Around the holidays, they appeared at the 2018 Bryant Park Winter Village. I got their popular brioche donut, which SURPRISE TO ME, had light and fluffy vanilla pastry cream in the center!
Beautiful storefront and friendly staff. The cookies were delicious, but the chocolate cake was way too sweet. I’ll try other stuff next time.
I’m so surprised by the brioche donut! The dough texture is soft but a little chewy, and was filled with vanilla been custard! Also I’m not a cheese cake person because it usually taste greasy...their cheese cake is just smooth, light with a lemon hint.
This is my neighborhood bakery and so thankful they are here!! Everything is delicious - from the sweet to the salty. If you crave chocolate cake, theirs is one of the best I’ve ever ever had. Not a ton of seating to be honest but I always grab and take it to the waterfront.
Best pain au chocolat I’ve ever had - and I lived in paris for a year!
I just had a chocolate croissant from this bakery which was pretty spectacular. I tend to enjoy flakey croissants and this ticked that box. The chocolate was also very good. My wife had the brioche donut which she said was also quite good. Will definitely go again and try more things.
Everything ive tried here was SO good. the atmosphere is elegant but laidback, there are so many lovely, different kinds of pastries. their brioche donut is really tasty and the custard is so delicious, you can see the flecks from the vanilla bean. their choux also has the same custard and it is unreal good. cant wait until they have soft serve!
This place is mad-delicious. Sometimes I group errands on that block just to go there. The chocolate cake? Award-level. All the baking is amazing.
Staff was friendly and helpful :)The place is quiet, beautifully layed out. The food looks like out of a photoshoot, and tastes just as expected.Oh god. The savory scone could be one of the best things Ive ever tried. The brioche donut was great, the filling was heavenly. The coffee was a bit too bitter for my taste, but not enough to take a single piece of star out.
The best croissants 🥐
The brioche donut had a nice mouthfeel. The interior of the donut had a lemon custard that was neither too sweet nor overpowering in tartness.
The brioche Donut was amazing, it tasted unique and similar to cake. It also had a very nice texture both inside and out. In my opinion it would taste better without the cream inside, regardless it was very good. The hot chocolate was also perfect. Service is excellent as well, atmosphere is cozy and clean. They serve your food in glass plates and cups and store is spacious.Food 9/10Service 10/10Atmosphere 8/10
This is a fantastic pastry shop and one of the few places where you can have a good cup of salep/sahlab when its cold outside!
Their brioche donut is heavenly! And their croissants are pretty much perfect too!!
The croissants there the best!!!
Amazing desserts and having Toro the cutest doggie join us was an added bonus!! We definitely come back again soon!
This place screams quality when you walk in. Theres something about the sleek design and dark blue accent color that makes you think well, Im going to spend a fair bit in cash and calories but thats OK.They have a lot in the case to stare at, but you cant leave without getting a brioche donut. They are soft and airy and chewy, like pockets of heaven. The coffee is very good, and if you order a drink, they will sometimes give you a small cookie or piece of chocolate to go with it.Seating is limited. There are some spots in the front, but they are usually always occupied. Youll have better luck in the back: I suspect most of the tourists who drop in dont realize theres a back room. The space may be limited but it doesnt deter people from bringing their laptops and camping out. I dont blame them. Getting work done is a lot easier on a sugar + caffeine rush.
I keep coming back! Carrot cake + coffee is the a staple for sure.
Best brownies and cakes.
Top notch bakery in NYC!! Follow my insta @keacherr
The chocolate explosion cookie was really good! The place is worth visiting.
It’s a better than a regular cheesecake. There is a better option to eat cheesecake in NY
Chai Latte was wonderful. Peanut Brittle remi nds my childhood favorite.
It was elegant and delightful.
Staff treated us so nice. the bill wont shock you.
Its ok. The croissant was good
I love Mah Ze Dahr and went there regularly, before the pandemic. My favorites were always the donuts, both croissant and old fashioned and the Mah Ze Dahr bar. I was thrilled when I was in the neighborhood and saw they were open. I couldnt decide between the donut and bar and the owner told me to take the donut, so I did. But when I told her I came from Brooklyn and it was my first time there since the pandemic, she gave me the bar, on the house. That was so kind. It made my day. So if you are looking for a delicious bakery, of high quality products, with great ownership, please go here. You will think well of me and definitely try the donuts and bar.
Delightful bakery with both classic and innovative baked goods. Recommended: toffee pecan brioche.
Delicious chocolate chip cookies (among many other treats) served in a clean, cool atmosphere!
I walked in on a whim and walked out with the best vanilla bean cream filled doughnut imaginable. I could sob I’m so happy :’)
