Matcha + Ube had me sold from the very beginning but then I saw the Fruity Pebbles and Rice Krispies!I walked up to the shop and it was the cutest quintessential shop on Baxter Street. I love the way they set it up and the cute pink neon light is definitely picture worthy. Now Iβm NOT a fan of Donuts but these are SCRUMPTIOUS. I think itβs the βairy-nessβ with each bite for me. As you probably guess from the very first sentence...I chose the Matcha & Ube donut. It was sooo good. My office space is not too far from area so Iβll definitely be popping over for snacks in future.
I was in the area so thought to hit up all the places that have been on my wanted to go list. The store is right next to Taiyaki by the way. Store is very small. Only 1-2 people max can fit in the store due to Rona. I ordered 3 donuts - crunchy matcha, cookies & dream and berry lovely. Love the cute packaging of the donuts. It was so aesthetic. You know, that millenial pink marble that is perfect for IG. All for the gram. Bishes love the gram. lolTaste of the donuts were A-OK to be honest in comparison to the donuts from mochimochi in NJs Mitsuwa. The Dough Shops donuts were not as mochi-like/bounce as I anticipated and tasted a bit more donutty if anything. It had a bit of chew and the flavors werent that impressionable on me. Would I come back? Maybe but I crave mochimochis pon de ring donuts more. Sorry peeps, you tried.
I got the bacon miso donut for $2.99 but they tasted very slightly chewier than regular donuts with cream on top. They were honestly meh as a mochi donut but okay as a regular donut. I had the mochi donut from alimama last week and I think that their mochi factor is definitely better than the one here. Dont know why people are giving this place 5 stars... is it just for its novelty
At first glance, the donuts looked really pretty and tasty. I really liked their unique flavors of the mochi donuts, however, I think itβd be better if the donuts were fresh and warm because when I ordered my donuts, they were cold and very chewy. The outer layer had no crunch compared to Alimamaβs mochi donuts/munchkins. Iβm not disappointed. I still liked their donuts but I just think itβd be better if it wasnβt already premade and put into a box because mochi hardens as time passes by.
Good delicious mochi doughnut, its not too chewy, doesnt stick to my teeth. The flavours are good, you taste what you buy. Love the cookies and cream, its not too sweet but craves my sweet tooth. Fruity pebbles are awesome too! Good to share with others since its easy to rip apart. Totally recommend this place!
Ever since I saw a photo of cute Japanese doughnuts from The Dough Club, I have been wanting to go and try them. They are located in Chinatown, right next to the popular Taiyaki NYC, a Japanese ice cream shop. That makes total sense, since they are both under the same founder/management.They had three round tables, bench seating along the wall, and comfortable chairs. Their doughnuts are made with mochi flour, in the shape knows as βPon de Ringβ style that you see often in Japan. The mochi doughnuts are made fresh daily in small batches. They have some mochi doughnuts ready, and then, upon order, they dip them into appropriate toppings right there. It is always good to have freshly made doughnuts! The staffs were very nice and polite, helpful and welcoming. We tried Cookies & Dreams, Berry Lovely, Bacon Miso Happy, and Cruncha Matcha. Not only the mochi doughnuts cute and lovely, but the names of the doughnuts are cute too. Doughnut itself was so soft, light, and fluffy. It had the nice chewy texture of mochi in a good way. The shape of the mochi doughnut makes it easy to share, as it is similar to tear apart bread.Overall, we were happy with all the mochi doughnuts we tried here. I feel that mochi doughnuts can get a bit too heavy. But I think they got the right skill and magic going on here at Their texture was really great! It still is more filling and satisfying than the regular doughnuts out there in my opinion. Also, I think the portion size and its quality was good for the price. A really nice place to get a little dessert with friends and family!
The Taiyaki boys are at it again with another crowd pleaser. Be sure to get a box of 6 because itβs very tough to pick the best flavor, theyβre all awesome. The store is quaint and homey and makes you feel better about eating so many. The design is perfect for sharing too! Congrats guys keep it going!
Newly open doughnut shop. Its Japanese inspired mochi donut.Has chewy texture. The base dough is the same. The different flavor only adding on the topThey serve 6 different flavor:1. Purple pebble-purple potato glaze and fruity pebble2. Crunch match- matcha glaze and rice krispy3. Berry lovely- strawberry glaze and white chocolate4. Cookies dream- vanilla glaze, crunch Oreo and chocolate drizzle5. Bacon miso happy- miso caramel glaze and fresh bacon bite6. Go nuts- milk chocolate glaze and crunch hazelnutI only had this kinda mochi donut when I was in Asia, Im so glad I can find it in Ny now!
I wore a review of this bakery last month but only now have gotten around to posting it. I cant believe its only been a month since I visited this bakery. So much has changed in that short time. I pray that someday, when everything goes back to normal theyll be able to reopen. Below is my review. The Doug Club is a tiny bakery with about 4 small cafΓ© tables that opened in late 2019. The shop is very cute and inviting. They make these Japanese βpon de ringβ style mochi donuts in small batches and you can clearly taste the freshness. Due to the amount of foot traffic they get, the donuts do not sit long on their shelves. In fact, my donuts were still slightly warm with the glaze still very gooey. The donuts had a fluffy and slight chewy texture. I ordered the half dozen in each of the flavor that were offered.Purple Pebbleβhad purple glaze with fruity pebble cereal toppings.Cruncha Matchaβthese were definite my favorite. It had matcha glaze and bits of rice crispy toppings.Berry Lovelyβhad strawberry glaze with bits of white chocolate.Cookie & Dreamsβhad vanilla glaze with Oreo crumble and chocolate drizzled on top.Bacon Miso Happyβhad miso caramel glaze with bits of bacon. I wished that the bits of bacon were crunchier and saltier to help balance the very sweet glaze.Go Nutsβhad chocolate glaze with bits of hazelnut. Flavor wasnβt as complex or unique as some of the others, but I still loved it.The mochi donuts are lovely to look at and the Dough Club does a good job of offering interesting flavors. These would be a great treat to bring to the office, dinner parties or as gifts. The presentation and packaging makes it very unique. And the shape of the donuts make it very fun to share. You can pull them apart into small pieces with ease.
Offering 6 different flavor of mochi donut flavor. The mochi donuts were soft and chewy. The texture is light and airy.Berry Love has strawberry glaze and white chocolate, there was barely any glaze. I wasnt able to see the thin coating. I personally love sweets and this was sweet enough for my taste buds. Quite taste plain.Cruncha Matcha had a heavy layer of matcha. Topped with Rice Krispies gave the mochi donut a nice texture without adding additional flavorings. Matcha flavor was quite strong.Cheaper to purchase 6 for $14.70, purchase 4 mochi donut is already $12.Offer 3 different flavors of shakes.Service was average.Minimum for card is $10.Store dΓ©cor is incredibly simplistic and cute. Super clean and organized. There is not a lot of space or seating. The store does not have a bathroom for customers.
Just like the mochi donuts in Japan -- so I am told. I find them to be more fluffy than sticky. Favorite flavor is the fruity pebbles.
Also my first time trying this. I wws expecting a mochi like texture in it but it was not the case. The mochi donut feels more like a traditional donut. Still taste amazing tho!
Tbh I had super low expectations because I heard this was all hype, so I only tried the berry lovely and purple pebbles. But this was honestly low-key really good! Its not overly sweet and reminds me of egg waffles.Definitely worth a try and intend to come back to try the other flavors. There was a special bundle when I tried so definitely take advantage of that because one is not enough!
Yum! This place is super popular and was pretty crowded when I visited. I picked up 1 matcha and 1 cookies&dreams. They were so good! Along with that, I picked up 3 boxes of half dozens for the fam for mothers day. Short wait time and staff are amazing! Highly recommend
Amazing mochi donuts and the cookies and cream milkshake was very good.
Love donuts and love mochi so I was looking forward to it but sadly didnβt make it to my expectation π₯² Sorry It wasnβt for me and the family. I gave it 3 because it seemed freshly made but just wasnβt for us. Going to try other places. Will see.
This kind of shape of donut is my favorite cause you can bite each round part for each bite without your lips being stuck with all of the sticky glaze. However the donuts from this place were a little soggy and not as chewy as the place in K-town called Mochi Mochi. I swear Iβm not paid by Mochi Mochi to say this lol, but since these two stores are selling the same shapes of donut with very similar varieties, I feel like this place is a bit weaker in comparison of the taste of the donuts. Also itβs weird that I couldnβt find it on Ubereats by searching on the app, and I could only go to their page via google map and select delivery method as Ubereats in order to order. The Dough Club, you would need to figure out how to make you visible and searchable on Ubereats.
My favorite thing was the dalgona coffee. The donuts are fun for instagram
If you are tired of dense, over sugared, and boring donuts then you should try a mochi Donut. The mochi donuts are light, airy, and have the perfect hint of sweetness. I am more of a savory donuts person but even their sweeter donuts like the cookies and cream are great.
Very good mochi donuts! Very fluffy and easy to share. I always buy for family on holidays.
Very trendy mochi doughnut shop from the people that brought you Taiyaki. They are right next to each other and the store layout is very similar to each other but with more seating. I went on a Sunday and the store was bit under staff as they only had one person working the register and also preparing the orders at the same time. They have 6 stable doughnuts to choose from and a limited run cat doughnut (comes in 2 colors but tastes the same). The doughnuts outer shell is slightly crispy and is soft and chewy on the inside. I had the purple pebble and cruncha matcha but the favorite was there the limited cat doughnut. It was a little denser and less sweet than the other two. I am a big fan of mochi doughnuts ever since discover it at Mister Doughnut in Asia and I find these to be comparable. I will definitely be back for more.
Best mochi donuts you can get! I believe itβs opened by the same owners as Taiyaki NYC so you know itβs legit. Iβve tried all the flavors and you canβt go wrong with any one of them...perfect to get a half dozen as there are 6 flavors. They all have the perfect amount of sweetness so you wonβt get sick of them. The ice cream shakes are also delicious and great for pairing with the donuts or on the go.Canβt wait to see and try other flavors they come out with in the future!
Little ice cream shop right outside of China town in New York City.Try the #4....amazing flavors!!!!
The mochi donuts were perfect!! Pon de ring style makes it super easy to share with friends which means you can try all of their flavors without making a mess. My favorite ones were the purple pebble, bacon miso happy and crunchy matcha. Not too sweet, but super soft and chewy- exactly what you expect a mochi donut to be. The matcha pebbles shake was also so so good!Staff was friendly, shop was super clean and cute. The to-go box was also very aesthetically pleasing. The whole store is so photogenic Will definitely be back!!!
Fruity pebbles mochi donut was my fave.
Stopped by and waited on the line that was outside of the store. I got 2 berry donuts. I paid 2.99 for each donut. I didnt think I needed to tip, but the sales person made me wait for my donuts because I didnt tip them. After ppl got there orders b4 I did I asked her if she forgot about my order, another associate got my order, but the sales girl that took my order said if I tipped I wouldnt have had to wait. I didnt think that was appropriate so I just left, but I will not go back.
Love the Mochi Texture and the Matcha flavor.
Instagram worthy dessert
The mochi flavor does not come through in their mochi doughnuts. The taste of the dough is closer to Dunkin Donuts...
Friendly and very quick service. Its an insta grab know so the donuts arent particularly great but its creative!
Its a cool concept for sure, but Im not one for too sweet things, so this place just wasnt for me. I was also very full from lunch, so my stomach probably wasnt craving sweets as much.I came for an event, and we ordered one matcha donut and one purple pebble donut. The purple mochi donut tasted like pure sugar; it was definitely too sweet for me. The matcha donut was very sweet as well, but it had a strong matcha taste so I wasnt too bummed about it.The donut itself was airy and had a great texture, I probably wouldve enjoyed it without any glaze. Overall a good experience, but as someone who doesnt really crave super sweet things, probably wouldnt come back.
My kids love to eat Mochi Donut, so I drive from New Jersey to New York 1 and half hours. I went to The Dough Club few days ago, that was snow day. I went in the store, and recognize they are open in 2 minutes, one of the person (man) told me, go wait out side. In that moment, I filled they were look down on me, I was so mad about it, so turn around and walk to another Mochi store in China call Alimama Tea(they were much more nice and polite. I would said, no matter how delicious, how good is food, but attitude made me not go back to this store any more.
I love doughnuts so of course when a new doughnut shop opened in Chinatown, I couldnt wait to try them. Having tried mochi doughnuts before, I had pretty high expectations and these Dough Club doughnuts definitely exceeded mine. The texture of all the doughnuts are light and chewy-- I feel like I can eat so many in one sitting (and of course I did...)My favorites:Bacon miso caramel - such a creative and interesting favor. Its the perfect combo of salty and sweet and the bacon bits add a nice crunch.Strawberry: This one is so pretty and pink- who can resist? It also tastes as good as it looks- fresh, a tad tarty which I loveMatcha: really strong matcha flavor- So impressed!Sweet potato: Another really pretty one! Really fruity and fun- i feel like kids will love this oneThe doughnuts also came in a very pretty marble box that matched the really cute decor of the store. I will definitely be back for more!!
It was meh. Good if youre in the area but dont go outta your way for it
I was extremely lucky and got to try some during the soft opening yesterday. The doughnut was nothing I expected. I have tried mochi doughnuts before and theyre usually super dense and filling. These were the opposite! Theyre light and chewy, which made it very easy to finish a whole donut. Another uniqueness was the shape of the donut, which made it easier to pull apart so you eat one small piece at a time. They have 6 flavors in total, purple fruity pebble, strawberry and white chocolate, cookies n cream, bacon miso, matcha, and chocolate hazelnut. They were all delicious and unique, especially the bacon miso one! That one surprised me the most, a must try if you like something a bit salty and sweet.I was a bit skeptical at first but Im sold! Cant wait to get more, I hope the lines wont be long.
Take some mochi pancake/waffle mix home! Try some of the amazing doughnuts too
Good small spot for some good sweets!
I am seeing a handful of not for me reviews, which is fair, but this place is amazing! The donuts are so good, but different, I recommend the miso with bacon, and the cookies and cream!
Their mochi donuts are really good!
Light and fluffy donuts that are neither too sweet nor too chewy! Itβs the perfect concoction IMO and is super fun to eat with family or friends :) I will definitely be coming back on repeat for the strawberry and fruity pebbles donuts or if there are any new flavors that pop up. Location is clean, cute and cozy. Highly recommend :)
Wow these donuts are awesome! I luv the chewy mochi texture. My fave is the one with bacon bits. And they have special now, buy 5 get 1 free. Did I mention they also sell milkshakes and coffee? Perfect compliments to the donuts. Cant wait to buy another box when I am in Chinatown next time!
So yummy and fresh!
This place is great! The mochi donuts are made fresh and are packaged nicely. Aside from looking so cute and unique, they also taste amazing. Although they are all so good, my personal favorite would have to be their Cookies & Dreams. It is light, fluffy, and chewy with the perfect amount of sweetness. They also serve three different shakes that are made with REAL ice cream! The shop decor was extremely cute and the atmosphere was extremely chill. Everyone including the staff were extremely friendly. This place is a must visit!
Love this place!
So cute and so delicious! The texture of donut is nice. The purple one is the best. Fruity pebbles! The shape of the donut gives you a perfect bite everytime. No need to reapply your lipstick, ladies. Better than munchkins!
Came here after hearing great things about their donuts. I bought every flavor so I could try each one and I have to say the berry one is definitely my favorite. It has a distinct tart berry aftertaste and I love how the texture of the mochi compliments it even more. I think the donuts would be better if they were slightly thicker but overall I would go back and get the donuts again.
Cute spot with an even cuter aesthetic. The donuts beat my expectations with its soft and chewy texture and super flavorful toppings. I would recommend this for a date spot or for when you just want to treat yourself.
The texture of the donuts were soft and chewy. I tried all six flavors, and my most favorite is the purple pebble. It was lightly sweet with a purple potato glaze topped with fruity pebbles. Definitely recommend to my friends and family!
A really cute place! Cozy and welcoming. Im not going to say they have the best doughnuts but were pretty tasty.
So bad... tasted like stale donuts with no mochi. Not worth your money :(
Cute mochi donut store right next to the famous Taiyaki NYC. Donuts are chewy and not dense or oily compared to other mochi donut stores
The donuts were so light, chewy, and perfectly fried. I got the strawberry one and it was good. I think this might be my new favorite kind of donut. Please open up in Brooklyn!
Japanese chain donutsβ Mister Donuts knock off (specifically their Pom de Ring series using Mochi flour), but doesnβt take like Mister Donuts
Cute little 8-piece Mochi Donuts with home-made glazes. So yummy!
Wow what a pleasant surprise!! These mochi doughnuts are so fluffy and tasty. I love the flavors they have. My favorite is the Berry Lovely and the Purple pebble. They have a cute interior for photos or a date. Not as much seating but their to-go boxes are also so cute. Highly recommend this place for sweets!
The mochi donuts are disappointing, to say the least.I dont taste the chewiness or the bounciness of a mochi. Its like a regular donut. You dont taste a lot of the glaze on top because its barely there. Not worth your $3.
This new shop is amazing! Love the variety of flavors, there is a donut for everyone. My favorite is the Cruncha Matcha! The light, chewy texture makes it impossible to stop eating. Donuts are made fresh every day so I know that Iβm getting quality products. I recommend first timers to try all 6 flavors, they were all delicious! Staff was very nice and friendly, and the shop is super super cute!
Quite surprised. These mochi donuts tasted just like the ones from Tokyo! It has a crispy exterior with a soft chewy interior. Very filling and will be back to taste the other flavors.
Iβve been hearing about this place and had the opportunity to try all the mochi donuts. My favorite was the Miso Bacon one. Got a bunch for my coworkers and they enjoyed them too. Great place to get a little something sweet plus the cashier (I think her name was Bonnie?) was cute!
Very tasty and reasonably priced! There are a number of delicious flavor options. I tried the matcha, cookies and cream, and purple potato. My absolute favorite of the three was cookies and cream! All of these donuts tasted amazing. I couldnβt stop eating them (dangerous). The mochi donut has a light texture with that hint of chewiness, sweet frosted glaze and some crunch from the toppings. Such a wonderful treat. Highly recommend :)
Ordered them online and theyβre absolutely delicious. The dough is so light and sweet and the toppings taste amazing.
After trying mochi donuts in Mitsuwa, I was craving for mochi donuts in the city. Read the reviews and wanted to try this place. Got the matcha, pebble, cookie cream, bacon, and nut one. First bite I was hoping for that gluttony chewy texture which they lacked. Tasted more on donut side. Very disappointed with the lack of flavor, looks like colored donuts. The flakes on pebble arenβt crispy after 4 hours. Itβs only for the looks. Had High hopes.
Pretty slammin donuts. These mochi donuts are different from your average donut. Theyre chewier, scrumptious and have some depth in their flavors. My personal favorite is the cookies and cream one but I think you gotta try the bacon one.Theyre also really pretty.
Had these babies for the first time ever yesterday after lunch with friends. I personally rarely eat donuts because of how sweet they are but the airy-ness, texture, and flavor of these mochi donuts worked perfectly together with the right amount of sweetness. We ended up buying half a dozen, one of each flavor, just because we couldnt leave without trying everything.
A perfect cross between the airy donuts you know and the chewiness associated with mochi dough. The glazes are a must for anybody with a sweet tooth :)
Best mochi donuts Iβve ever had! So so gooood! πDonuts were light, fluffy and perfectly sweet plus the place is so cute, just amazing all around
I felt this donut was over priced and very stale. The donut had very little taste.
Purple pebble was perfectly chewy and fragrant, the go nuts was a tad too sweet. Delicious.
The store is so cute and the donuts are so light and they taste amazing. The matcha donut is absolutely amazing I love the perfect mix of bitter and sweet.
The mochi donuts were so delicious. My favorite one was the bacon with miso caramel glaze. If you go, I definitely recommend pairing the donuts with a milkshake. My friends and I got all 3, and no regrets.
The store is new, trendy, and the concept is new. I tried the matcha flavor when I was there along with the matcha drink. Itβs so good, a must try. I canβt wait to try other flavors though.
Honestly, everything looked delectable, so I asked the cashier for recs. The employee recommended the Berry and the Matcha, but I opted to go for the Bacon Miso mochi donut and the Matcha, because Ive had Caramel Miso from Spot Dessert and DOMI, and I immensely enjoyed them both. However, the Bacon Miso was...okay. The candied bacon didnt really make the caramel miso flavors pop, and I immediately sensed that this mochi donut was more donut than mochi. It was like a less fluffy donut, comparable to a cake donut? If you want to try what a real mochi donut tastes like, youll have to go to Alimama. The morning after, I had the matcha. This one I liked more! The rice crackers on top were fun and added a different texture to counter the softness of the donut. The matcha flavor was not bad--not too sweet, not bitter either--but it was just kind of weak.
Super cute! The mochi doughnuts are fresh and very good. If you havent had one before you should def try. I went for the cat doughnuts that they have only starting at 4 pm for now. SO CUTE! And very good. White chocolate dipped mochi doughnuts. Also tried their ruby red hot chocolate. It was very sweet. Hard to describe but it was like a milk chocolate with some different tasting notes. There is a line for the cat doughnuts but its short for now and everyone who lined up got 1 or 2. I really want to come back and try their milkshakes and mochi.
Unique array of donut flavors. The Mochi adds additional chewy goodness to the beloved snack.
Freaking fantastic donuts. Best mochi donuts in nyc!! Be sure to give this place a try. Super instagrammable too
These donuts are truly light, airy, and fluffy. The pon-de-ring shape makes this treat easy to share among a group off friends. Just rip the balls apart and youre good to go.They have a list of 6 donut flavors. My personal favorites are their Cruncha Matcha (matcha glaze with rice krispies) and Bacon Miso Happy (miso caramel glaze with bacon bits). They have milkshakes, cold brew, and hot coffee too! You guys MUST try the earl grey toffee milkshake. Its the perfect amount of earl grey tea flavor mixed with a toffee crunch.
OMG! I just tasted a bit of doughnut heaven. I love japanese mochi doughnuts ever since i was a kid and i am so glad they are coming to nyc. The Dough Club has a great selection of flavors and my favorite was the Berry Lovely! The strawberry glaze was to die for! I cannot wait to come back again and try their milkshakes!
Been looking for mochi donuts in NY and found delicious ones at Dough Club!! Good price & super cute for Instagram pictures π I recommend the Cookies and cream flavor!!
Perfect mochi donuts. It lit baiiiiiii :D
The doughnuts here are amazing. Theyβre a mix of both chewy and airy which kinda make it feel like the doughnut is melting in ur mouth. I ordered the 6 piece and my top two are the strawberry one and the bacon one. This place just opened but I been here more than a couple times already. I used to go to alimama who also makes Mochi doughnuts but this place definitely does it better and replicates the Japanese authenticity way more closer.
I Really enjoyed this nee Doughnut shop in NY. I ordered their half dozen box which included, Cruncha Matcha, Purple Pebble, Bacon Miso Caramel, Strawberry, Go Nuts, and Cookies & Dreams. The texture of the donuts were soft and chewy and the glazes were so good. I loved the variety and cant wait for more flavors to come out! Best Doughnut shop in Chinatown by far.
These doughnuts are light, fluffy, and chewy - absolute perfection! Would recommend them to anyone!
