Talk about amazing donuts! I got three different flavored donuts. The vegan maple glazed, vegan pumpkin spice latte and the vegan cereal milk donut. So far I have only eaten the vegan cereal milk one but felt compelled to write my review after just that one donut. The flavor was amazing! A little salty and perfectly sweet. These donuts are large as well so great for breakfast or a mid afternoon snack or dessert. I will 100% be back again to try more flavors and Ill update this after trying some more flavors. They have such a huge variety that there is something for everyone. I love that they have vegan options as well as traditional. These donuts are so worth the stop. Beyond just the donuts the lady at the register was nice and very helpful.
Incredibly delicious and inventive. Today I tried Maple Cruller, The Everything Doughnut, and Cereal Milk Crunch. The maple cruller was, without hyperbole, my favorite donut ever. Light inside & crispy outside as described. I didnt think it looked terribly interesting, so I was in disbelief about how ridiculously tasty I found it.Everything Doughnut was satisfyingly soft, and I thought that cream cheese glaze was amazing. Wasnt crazy about the everything toppings, yet overall I still found it an excellent doughnut.
There is simply no better place for doughnuts in the city. Doughnut project by far has the most unique doughnuts and the tastiest. You’re not getting just some cool looking food to snap a photo of for Instagram. Not only are the doughnuts amazing to look at, they taste out of this world. I have tried so many doughnut shops across the US and this one is for sure my favorite. The other thing I love is while they have their staples, they also do seasonal doughnuts and weekend doughnuts which are always super cool flavors. For example, Thai iced tea Creme brûlée! And you know what, it was amazing! You gotta try this! I do recommend if there is a specific type of doughnut you wan to try to reserve it a head of time online because they do sell out real quick!
I had the chance to stop by the Doughnut Project on my New York food tour. I’m glad I came early opening because there was a solid line outside. There were a variety of options to choose from. The host gave good recommendations to the donut that I think fit me best, for what I was craving for. Highly recommend
Yum yum yum!!! 😋 let me start by saying Im usually not a donut person, I know, I know... but other than potato donuts like the famous Holy donut in Portland ME, I usually just dont care for them as I find the cake part too dense and the glaze too sweet. But wow I truly adored my coco Loco donut from this place!! Its a coconut crumble donut with chocolate drizzle and think almonds. Oh my! The cake part was super moist and just everything was magic. It was actually vegan which I usually dont like because its either too sweet or dense but this was so freaking delicious! The interior is so cute and cool, its worth it just to come in just to be filled with a burst of color and decadent smells!Friendly Staff makes it all the more welcoming!Anyways try it out!
Half a dozen creative donuts for $25.25! We got the everything, bronx, blueberry lavender, glazed and those beetz are dope. The three of us weren’t able to finish all of them, so I think that’s definitely a good sampler size. My favorite was definitely the bronx. The everything was a very interesting mix of sweet and savory. Those beetz are dope was a little underwhelming, the glaze on top was good but the filling didn’t have much of a taste. The regular glazed one was fine, it was as good as glazed donuts get. All of the donuts weren’t too sweet, which I liked. Apparently this place is usually busy but we came early Friday afternoon and there was no line or anything, and they had a wide selection t choose from at that time. The woman behind the counter was also nice and friendly. No seating inside or outside so we walked over to Washington square park to eat them. Worth trying if you’re into donuts.
We like the dounats very much. We tried some and most liked the Carmel flavor with crispy dounat comparing to the regular one.
I love donuts and try one every time I’m in a new area of the city. The maple cruller was possibly the best donut-style item I’ve ever eaten, no exaggeration. It’s so good it’ll make you angry. You’ll be eating it and yell-asking WHY IS THIS SO GOOD
I would consider myself somewhat of a doughnut connoisseur, and these are the best doughnuts I’ve ever had! 10/10
We’re basically obsessed with this place. There are a lot of donut shops in NYC but this one is special. Not only are the regular menu items incredible (omg the maple bacon) but every week they make unique special items. The creativity and effort it must take to create new items EVERY WEEK is insane. Want to know how good it is? We place a pre-order and make a trip there every single weekend.
I surprised my gf with these when she got back in town. Such unique and delicious donuts! The ricotta donut and raspberry (I think it was raspberry) surprised me by how yummy it was. Lemon poppy, maple bacon, brownie, plain and blueberry were amazing you have to eat these right when you get them. I waited a few hours but still great! 8.1 Ortiz review
LOOKING FOR SOME EPIC-CRAZY-LEGENDARY-EXTRAVAGANT-FLAVORSOME DOUGHNUTS????If you are then I might just have the perfect place for you to visit. This place not only has the best looking doughnuts but it has the most UNIQUE-est creations incorporated into their doughnut recipes. Their doughnuts are not your ordinary local bakery doughnuts these are next level. I mean these donuts were EXTRAORDINARILY!!!!!😱😱thedoughnutproject has some of the most creative doughnuts in nyc. They have such a unique menu and so many different choices. For some of their doughnuts they even have savory items included such as the everything doughnut(basically an everything bagel in doughnut form) and the Bronx(olive oil and black pepper doughnut). Now that’s something very interesting that not many people would ever think would be in something sweet like a doughnut.Pictured:🍩PEANUT BUTTER CUP DOUGHNUT: peanut butter pastry cream filling, chocolate ganache glaze, house made peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips🍩COCONUT CREAM VEGAN CAKE DOUGHNUT: vegan cake doughnut with coconut cream glaze and toasted coconut topping🍩PUMPKIN CREME BRÛLÉE: pumpkin cream filling brûléed top🍩MANHATTAN CREAM: chocolate ganache filled with house made pastry cream🍩PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY(made with skippy brand peanut peanut butter): blackberry glaze, filled with peanut butter whip and a kiss of house made blackberry jam🍩CINNAMON ROLL: cinnamon roll topped with house-made butter creamAfter trying all these doughnuts I have to say I am impressed. These doughnuts have a slight different taste than any other doughnut I have tried. They are not that sweet as expected but the flavors are intense, especially the PB&J which brought back so many memories(PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME😭😭😭) and that huge cinnamon roll it was even bigger than my hand and I have to say that it was the best cinnamon roll doughnut I have ever tried!!!! The pumpkin creme brûlée and Manhattan cream were good(not that sweet) but the coconut cake doughnut was better, it had the nice crunch of the coconut with the sweet cream glaze!!!!Definitely a great spot to check out for a sugar fix!!!!
My absolute favorite donut shop in the city! I’ve been coming back there for a very long time now and I can’t get bored of their donuts, ever. There are weekend specials every week so I go back all the time to be able to try everything. 😋 The donuts are quite pricey but they are really worth it—the dough is soft and delicious and the different flavors are so unique that you can’t find anywhere else! Oh and the donuts are huge! Staff is nice too. Highly recommended!
We happened upon this spot and we were all so glad that we did. The doughnuts were amazing . They were huge and so fluffy. The flavors were amazing. We tried several different ones and they were all incredible. We loved how the flavors were so unique, but nothing was overly sweet. The Bronx and the regular glazed were our favorites. Definitely stop in if you are in the neighborhood.
Don’t go. Rude staff/management, and not a mask in sight. Better experience and good doughnuts all over town.
Doughnuts are unique and different from most doughnuts in NYC. I got to try the birthday cake doughnut and I really enjoyed it. I also had the lemon, brownie batter, everything bagel, and vanilla chai. I actually didn’t care for the everything bagel but then again I haven’t really tried an everything bagel before. Just got it to try something different. I think I just like sweet doughnuts but if you like everything seasoning, I’m sure you would enjoy that doughnut. The vanilla chai was by far my favourite. But I also love vanilla chai so lol. Brownie batter was ok. It was good but not anything to rave about for me. I loved the lemon! If I ever have time to come again, I would try the olive oil and whatever weekly special there is. I appreciate their work ethic but it isn’t really a place I’d go out of my way to visit.
I recommend placing a pre-order online. This place is super popular and its easy to tell why.Our absolute favorites thus far are the olive oil & black pepper which has a very unique subtle flavor with lingering notes of black pepper, lemon which is super lemony with the zest on top great for true lemon lovers, and the beet filled doughnut a delicious combo of beet icing and creamy ricotta filling. Absolutely loved all three of these.Tried the special apple cider this weekend along with the vanilla chai and maple crueller, all were good but would probably reorder my three favorites and try something new the next time. The one doughnut I absolutely did not care for was the pb&j doughnut. I love peanut butter but they use Skippy brand and it was a real letdown. Way too sweet and you dont get the dark roasted peanut taste from better peanut butters. But hey, everyone has different taste!
The donuts are pretty good, especially the everything one, however the fact that they close Monday and Tuesday is actually kinda infuriating. I travel during the weekends and when I come back to the city on Mondays, I can’t get one. I don’t know what’s up with that. It’s the reason for the 1 star.
Pleasantly surprised how inviting this place from outside either from inside because of interior and colors. Such a great designer’s work. The place can easily attract people who just walked around.Even regular coffee is truly good. But donuts quality took off one star from this review. The dough was raw. Not very good when a creative and beautiful outside look of the food is not matching with the taste.
Had a lemon, coffee cake, maple kruller, and the everything bagel donut (sounds weird but great)!
Beet Doughnut was surprisingly tasty. Dug the Manhattan cream doughnut. Coffee was not that great.
This place deserves ten stars. All the creations are original, fresh, and BEYOND delicious. Most bakeries in NYC are not worth a second trip, let alone a third, fourth, and fifth (guilty!). My favorites so far have been the doughnuts on the more savory side -- The Bronx (olive oil and black pepper glaze) and the Everything Doughnut. Definitely come early (prior to 11AM on the weekends), they do sell out!
Some of the best doughnuts Ive ever had. The original and the maple cruller are awesome.
Highly recommend this place! As soon as you walk in the fresh and wonderful smell hits your nose!Fluffiest and best texture doughnuts! The flavors are amazing! And specialWe got the lemon and salt which is fresh tasting and really lemony (which is great)Coffee cake crunch and and the banana jama special (banana bread flavor)All very good!Plan to come back!
If you rate this other than 5 stars you’re literally crazy. They make these fresh everyday, I know because I can taste it. This place is always making new flavors too which is amazing it’s the same set of stuff then 1-3 new ones to try every couples weeks. Live next door and can’t tell you great these doughnuts taste. The cinnamon roll one and the old fashioned... marry me please. Also, The owner works the store every single day, can’t ask more than that.
The lemon donut literally EXPLODES with flavor. Must try this place!! It’s also super cute inside!
At first I thought that these were just a trend and looked pretty for likes. But these have to be some of the best damn donuts I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely mouth watering! 5/5 would recommend and I’ll be back for sure.Tip: buy a cup of coffee too and walk to end of the street and down on Bleecker and enjoy your delicious guilty pleasure donut at the Winston Churchill Square - powdered donuts for the power donut.
Delicious gourmet fancy doughnuts! These are as fancy upper tier doughnuts in the city, my favorite is beet and ricotta it’s yeast bread with ricotta cheese not too sweet. I love the peach glaze one too. Wish they open more locations.
Amazing donuts!!! Such a variety of unique and delish flavors!!! The donut shop was so cute and very welcoming and friendly environment !! Def will be back when in NYC!
This place deserves 7 out of 5 stars! Ill start by saying that Ive been to nearly 100 donut shops across the country and The Doughnut Project currently holds my #2 spot for best shops. They have by far the most creative flavors that show off some culinary expertise. On paper, most dont sound like incredible donut flavors, but whether its beet ricotta, olive oil black pepper, everything bagel.. the list goes on.. its absolutely phenomenal. The savory components make for some really well-balanced donuts that still have substantial amounts of sweetness. The texture on their yeast donuts is flawless: thick, fluffy, and consistent. The old fashioned donuts also have textbook perfect texture. To go along with amazing donuts, they have amazing people working behind the scenes. The Doughnut Project is worth going outside of your comfort zone and far out of your way to try. You will not regret it!
Best maple bar in NYC!! Its better without the bacon, TBH. And the cinnamon roll is great too! Glad stumbled across this place.
Absolutely worth it. Regular donuts and vegan donuts were incredible. You wont even be able to tell they are vegan. Will definitely be going back.
Youll love the doughnut here and the service is incredible. I strongly recommend you try this place out if youre nearby.
We stumbled upon this gem of a donut joint...THE donut joint in NY and are so glad we did. So many interesting varieties including miso glaze with nuts/seeds and olive oil/black pepper. Also have classics too. Really friendly and helpful staff and great coffee. I can also now say I’ve been there and literally got the (Donut Project) t-shirt. Would definitely return...if only we lived in New York...but then again we would quickly become a donut.
Some of my favorite doughnuts in the city! Love that its woman owned and they always come up with unique flavors!
These donuts are dropped off by G-d every morning and kept warm by the wonderful staff @TheDoughnutProject. #ThankYouWhy its on the B.C. 5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Club:-Highest quality dough for donuts-All of their varieties are delicious (even the oddballs?!)-Great Prices-Beats having Dunkin Donuts and/or Krispy Kreme any dayWas my review helpful?Let me know with a like, so I know that Im helping you on your journey to better foraging experiences.
My friend and I had come to Bosie Tea Parlor next door but they had a long wait and we decided to get something here while we were waiting. It was a fun looking store with interesting doughnut choices. I loved my raspberry doughnut with cheesecake filling and the cinnamon spice tea. I would probably go back if Im in the area to try some of the other doughnuts they have. Very friendly staff too!
BEST bacon doughnuts! The strawberry glazed are delicious too! They have specials and i try to go each time i see anything Interesting but the bacon maple doughnuts are my ultimate favorite
Love this place. Amazing doughnuts and ingenious recipes.
I had been wanting to go here for a while. Finally got the chance it was a sharp little doughnut shop. An ecletic interior with fancy doughnuts. The doughnuts in my photos are the texas black tea and a limited edition strawberry frozen doughnut. If you get a chance visit here, have a seat and relax with some dough
Just all-round really solid doughnuts in so many cool flavors. This place’s creativity never ceases to amaze.
Favorite doughnut shop in nyc! Maple creuller is my favorite and the maple bacon! If you’re vegan, the strawberry is so good too! A little bit more dense but still soft and delicious. Oh and whenever they have a special, make sure to get it! The blueberry creme brulee special was amazing!
Everyone please try this place, without any doubt the BEST donuts I’ve ever had!! They are so, so delicious!! I would give 10 ⭐️’s. If I had one complaint, or suggestion it would be to adjust their hours of operation. Either open at 7 AM(like most donut shops) or close after 2 PM. I work in the city and I’m not able to stop by over there because they open after I get to work and close before I leave work😭😭😭😭😭
We tried a lemon glazed donut and loved it: it was a good size, the glaze was very flavorful, and well-distributed. The donuts are denser than Donut Plant, but we liked them better than VooDoo donuts.Revised Sept 2017: Today we tried The Everything. Unusual but absolutely delicious. Adding another star because theyve moved into the top slot for posh donuts in NYC.
The quality of the donut is really good. Its tasty and I didnt have heart burn after. The place was really clean and customer service was outstanding. I wish there were more flavors when I came in but its okay I like plain one too.
Definitely my new favourite doughnut shop! Not overly sweet, really light doughnuts in lots of great flavours. I tried the maple bacon and olive oil with black pepper, both of which I highly recommend, especially the olive oil/black pepper - I love the savoury aspect to it and cant wait to go back to try the everything doughnut (and all the other flavours!).My one suggestion - if possible, it would be great if the takeaway doughnuts could be packed in boxes rather than a bag - a lot of my glaze was stuck to the bag by by time I got home and I had to try my best to put it back on...
We love the variety of interesting flavors they create. Always a nice surprise to be found, and tasted.
Lovely owner, delicious donuts
This is my second time being at this place and I love it. The server was great and helped with our selections. The everything bagel is a must try. The hint of garlic with the sweet doughnut glaze is actually delicious. Come early if you want to try some wacky flavours like bone marrow and chocolate.
Best donut place ever the coconut cream and the peanut butter and banana cream donuts are the best
The best donuts I have had in NYC for sure! Not too sweet & the texture was perfect. Too bad I ate them before taking pictures!
Definitely the most interesting donuts I have had in a long time. Donuts are amazing no matter where but the guys at donut project turned it up a notch. Although we didnt get to try to everything donut, we still had some amazing donuts. You have to eat them fast while its fresh, no one wants a stale cold sad donut. We had the salted chocolate, lemon, and Maple bacon doughnut. All in all, each one was very tasty. I show no prejudice against donuts of any kind. Next time I come, I have to try to everything donut. I will definitely be back.
I went to the Doughnut Project with a friend that was craving some kind of desert and boy were we satisfied. The doughnut project and a very cute shop with decorative donuts. It was a nice break from walking around NY. It was also nice to try something new. We got the PBJ donut and the birthday cake doughnut. We definitely had a sugar buzz afterwards. The location was very clean, the staff was eager to assist, and I didn’t feel rushed to make an order. So I definitely recommend it for a nice snack. So... ENJOY!!
Oh yeah! #cheatday with TWO donuts after a grueling week of work. --> Black gold Texas tea donut: chocolate #brownie batter & chocolate crumble --> those beets are dope: beet glaze stuffed with #ricotta whip #donuts #doughnuts #doughnut #sweets #bakery #newjersey #foodnetwork #foodie #foodiegram #letseat #letseatcake #foodphotography #foodporn #foodgasm #foodgasm #foody #greenwichvillage #nyceats #thedoughnutproject #beets #chocolate #tea
Had the everything donut and whiskey. Yummy. Definitely be back
This place is fantastic. They have many fantastic flavors. I reccomend the maple kruller (they should call it a churro doughnut) Seriously worth the trip to the village.
Definitely the most adventurous donuts I’ve seen. I tried the Malter White doughnut which was malted milk chocolate with malted choc chip cookies. Definately one of the more ‘normal’ flavours. Not the lightest doughnut I’ve had but very tasty, not too sweet and the the little cookie was super chewy and delicious.
Great doughnuts! Its hard to choose!
Absolutely delicious, best peanut donut ever!
This place is always making new flavors too which is amazing
