This place is on the second floor inside the Brookfield place mall. They make one of the best NY style wood fired bagels. Nice soft lox, fluffy bagels, and good flavor balance on the sandwiches. Our order was ready quickly. Would definitely recommend the place.

If you are into big fat doughy bagels look elsewhere. But if you like the perfect balance of dough and nicely baked outside seeded snap then Black Seed be the place! Ok they are on the smaller side but hey .. then buy two! My new favorite bagel. Try them and see.

This is the first review I have ever felt compelled enough to leave. It is not worth going here. They are overpriced, were glacial slow, despite being the only customer, got my order wrong, left out the avocado that I was charged for, and the bagel itself is subpar, especially for NY.... 😒

I liked the bagel. It was hot, cheesy and the sesame bagel was nice and chewy, a bit like Montreal bagels.

Grab a bagel and coffee then head outside to sit and enjoy by the marina. Great selection of fresh toppings, including excellent lox. Not your traditional NYC bagels, thinner and lighter, perfect for a sandwich.

How disgusting is this. A live bug inside my bagel on 1/12.Very gross don’t eat here. I’m sick to my stomach after experiencing this.This place needs to be close down for a day of properly cleaning throughout this location.

Best bagel in NYC

Based on other reviews I should have listened. Bagels were soggy as stated (I never even heard of a soggy bagel before- not sure how that even happens). First bagel I got looked like a skinny bagel and was missing literally 25% of the bagel, I went back to replace and got a burnt one (picture shown) with no apologies. Only reason they get 2 stars is because they have stumptown coffee which I enjoy. Don’t bother to eat here.

Absolutely loved my bagel! I got the #1, the serving of smoked salmon was very generous. They have Stumptown Cold Brew, which is also delicious.

Discovered Black Seed Bagels by chance. I had the Milk and Honey sandwich: ricotta cheese, apples and honey on a toasted sesame see bagel (you can choose your favorite bagel). PURE DELICIOUSNESS!! Also, good coffee. Friendly staff, quick service. Highly recommend

Coffee is all a had, was kicking, I got it was the oat milk.

Not your average NYC bagel... these are Montreal style: flatter and less doughy. Prices are typically high for the area. Most bagels come with slightly more than a “schmear” of filling so not the best bang for your buck.

The almond butter was amazing! Loved that I could get a simple and cheap bagel with something other than cream cheese. Also, New York is definitely not a friendly city, but the girl who took our order was the friendliest customer service person I encountered all weekend (I mean, the stakes are low, but she was still really nice).

The morning staff is really quite nice, and I appreciate that the cashier remembers my name! Great attention to customer service! I do wish the company would buy better bagels though, its good when youre in a rush and low on options. I tried the salt bagel once... it was more like a hypertension bagel! Lol... but seriously I go there for the convenience and customer service. The bagels themselves are meh. If they upgraded their bagels this place would be a hit!! I’ve had better bagels frozen from the grocery store. Not only was this soggy, squished overall gross but there was very little creme cheese. DO NOT EAT HERE, it is DISGUSTING!

Msg to manager: the coffee is really bad (tastes putrid like rusty something), the prices are absurd ($7.30 for a bagel w/cream cheese & small coffee), and cashier is really unfriendly. Maybe tourists will sustain you but I work in the building and wont be back. Simple fix:1. Improve coffee quality2. Lower prices by approximately 40%3. Retrain staff to be kindThen reap the rewards of success and bathe in your accolades.

I got egg salad on whole grain; it was delicious. Could have used maybe a little mustard or even just a touch of salt, but it had just a hint of fresh dill and it was great. Extremely satisfying.

Great Service, Fresh Excellent Tasting Food

Wish zero stars was an option. Ordered for my son when no one else was in line at 3:45 in the afternoon. Lady who took the order was rude and short in answers. After my son waited for over 10 minutes watching the people working there playing on their phones, he asked about his order. He was told they lost it and they were disgusted and annoyed he was frustrated. A refund was given with ZERO apology. Zero stars.

SO SLOW. Bagels are decent but don’t get bacon cus it’s so greasy and your bagel just soaks it up. Stick with bagel and cream cheese / butter if you go here.

Went to the Black Seed Bagel Elizabeth St location and it was excellent! My family was in the Battery Park area and we went to the Battery Park location and it was horrible! First, the person taking the order had an attitude and said if we wanted anything other than just a bagel, the wait time would be 30 minutes. There was no line so we were surprised to hear this so we took her advice and all ordered just bagels. It still took 25 minutes and the bagels were not toasted properly and they got our order wrong and put cream cheese instead of butter. This location is not the real location. The bagels were in bags not made there. The Elizabeth Street locations makes the wood fired bagels right on the spot! Dont waste your time at the Battery Park location, go to the other locations as you will get the true Black Seed Bagel experience!

The worst bagel I have ever had. It tasted a little like wonder bread and had such a revolting aftertaste, I had to eat a piece of fruit to get the taste out of my mouth. I think this was frozen and then defrosted? Truly disgusting bagel, I am baffled actually.

I ordered and paid for bagels and was told to pick up on the other side. I waited quite a while and finally someone asked me if I was waiting for something. I explained that I was waiting for bagels and they had no idea what I was talking about. Cashier not friendly or helpful.

Shocked at how bad the bagels were, given the one in soho is great. Service was slow. Order was wrong. Bagel was small, soggy, and simply did not taste good. Basically a 7-11 bagel, except they charged $8 for it. There’s no kitchen at this location so they microwave the eggs. Even the avocado, cheese and tomato were poor quality. So disappointing when a good place slaps their name on a franchise and doesn’t bother to make sure the product is on par. Would love Brookfield to switch it out for anything else!

I love Black Seed Bagels and was so excited to visit the one closer to me. However, I have been to this location twice and the service is awful. Rude, slow, and not attentive. Each time I went my order was prepared and just sitting behind the counter, even after I asked for it and was told it was not ready because the staff did not look. Not to mention the bagels are like rubber here. Maybe since they are not cooked on site it has changed the quality.

Can you really call yourselves a bagel shop when you dont have any bagels? I assume this is a very new business and havent got to terms with supply and demand. No bagel is worse than bad bagel, hence 1 star.

I havent been to the original location yet, but this Hudson Eats location disappoints. My multigrain everything bagel was burnt as is (not toasted) and seemed day old since it was dry and slightly cold as if it had been in the fridge. As others have mentioned, service is slow. The only redeeming quality was the scallion cream cheese, which I enjoyed. But next time Ill just go to a deli to get a better quality and less expensive bagel.

Terrible, tiny, and double-priced gluten-free sesame bagel. Also, scallion cream cheese had no scallions in it. Why doesnt Brookfield place switch to Murrays?

Out of onion and garlic bagels, and when I asked for the smoked trout which is listed on both their menu boards I was told that it had not been available for over a year. When I asked the guy in charge why he didnt erase it (its a chalkboard, after all) he shrugged and said it wasnt his job. And then my bagel wasnt toasted even though the order taker had asked me and I said yes. Come on guys, its not that hard to run a bagel store, and at Brookfield Place prices, thats ridiculous!

How can they claim they sell Montreal-style bagels? I lived in Montreal for six years and loved Fairmount bagels there. The bagel-shaped bread Black Seed sells doesnt taste like Fairmount bagels.

Dont waste your time with this Black Seed location. Same prices as the normal locations, but far worse food and service. My bagel was outright mushy after being toasted and it took nearly 10 minutes to get an egg sandwich made. I *love* Black Seed at the Elizabeth Street location. I dont know what happened to this location that makes it so tremendously bad. The bagel was Panera Bread-level bad. It tasted like it came out of a plastic bag, wasnt toasted, and had a bunch of ingredients slopped together.To be fair, I dont know what I was thinking visiting Bloomfield Place in the first place. Its a nightmareland of tourists and half-assed satellite versions of actually good NYC restaurants. Dont waste your time — get out of FiDi and enjoy a meal literally anywhere else.

Hand-rolled bagels are smaller, and some of the sandwich options seem pricey, but these bagels are excellent. Stumptown coffee offering make for an excellent small breakfast offering.

Very dirty restaurant ! Cutting boards are so dirty and wiping cloth on it. So many scratches on the boards. NYC Health Dept supposed to close this restaurant!When worker was making sandwiches, her dirty, filthy Apron touching the Sandwiches. Really its so unhygienic!

This was my first time trying Black Seed, so maybe I shouldve tried the first location. I went for lunch and there was only three options for bagels and cream cheese. I opted for smoked salmon and felt $12 was a lot for a bagel sandwich.

Staffs are unprofessional and service was so bad. Who is owner on this store? It’s unpleasant experience in the Saturday morning. I could see they threw many bagels including mine into garbage due to their mistake. Without saying to sorry to customers.

The owner should fire the girls working here - so rude and lazy! The service was terrible - staff talking on mobile phone while serving customers - talking to each other non stop instead of serving and not telling you when your order was ready. Waited 20 minutes for a tuna melt and they were not even busy. There was no one ahead of me either waiting. To top it off the bagels are nothing special. Its unfortunate that this is just another overpriced tourist trap. Stick to your local bagel shop / deli.

Not quite sure if I see what the hype is about for Montreal bagels (sort of feels like youre paying more for less), but I managed to snag the last bagel of the day and it hit the spot. Staff was super friendly, even as I distracted them while they were trying to clean up and close.
