Simply put, Sump has great coffee!! Their Espresso Tonics are always on point and score 8.8 to 9.0 depending on the flavor of the season. The drip and espresso shot are also always quality and score 8.3 to 8.7 depending on the roast. If you are ever near the One City location, you should definitely grab a coffee!!
We love coffee, for us and we believe Sump was possibly one of the best Coffee spots in Nashville! They know what a “cortado” was.
Great quality pour over. Friendly staff and nice environment. Excellent stop for coffee enthusiasts.
Coffee is delicious and I love that they bring your order to your table; you dont have to wait for it. Heads up that they dont have soymilk, though! Oat & almond (which is fine!) Nice patio to hang out on, though.
Ive had alot of coffee but Sump is the best coffee Ive ever had and all the employees are really nice
Great coffee. Does not have honey to substitute for sugar. Only downfall. You will love the staff and the creative wall art.
Love the outdoor seating area and the vibe inside the coffee shop. Great for meeting friends or working.
I got a caramel latte with oat milk. The coffee was great and the baristas were super friendly. There was a very European vibe to the place that I loved. Definitely check it out :)
This place is part science lab, part aestheticly designed hip room and part coffee temple. Anything that stands in the way of quality of brew is cast aside. They only use the Ferrari of coffee gear on the highest quality grinds. The extra couple shekels you spend here are worth every penny. If coffee is very important to you, SUMP is where you need to be. We paid 12 dollars for 2 coffee drinks.
Great aesthetic however the coffee isn’t worth it.
Staff was cool and friendly. I dont think the coffee lives up to the hype. This location is cool but has little to do with how the coffee tastes. Im happy I tried it, cant say Id recommend it. I probably wont return for a refil. Cold brew cans not worth $5 a piece. And definitely not good enough to do the pretencious its so good it can only come in a 4 pack thing.
Personable staff & unique contemporary design provide an excellent place for work or reading. The double espresso is highly recommended. There is a bocce court aside the patio and common space outside among various water features. The exterior space faces East and is rather warm in the morning during Summer. There is adequate common space on the west side of the office building that Sump Coffee resides in which to sit about.
Sump has some of the best and unique coffees in town. The location itself is awesome, workers are great, atmosphere likewise. Highly recommend
Sump has, without a doubt, the best coffee I have ever had. The Costa Rica pour over is incredible and the espresso is awesome as well. If you are a coffee purist, this is the place to go. If not, just know there are no flavor shots and coffee is served black. The staff is wonderful and the place has a cool, industrial feel. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Went to their original location in St. Louis a couple months back and was thoroughly impressed. The owner mentioned that they were opening up a new shop in Nashville so I figured next time I was passing through the city I had to stop by. Beautiful beautiful store, lots of open seating, cute outdoor space in what seems to be a redeveloping part of town. Since I was passing through I couldnt sit down and enjoy a latte and got a iced latte to go instead. It was rich and full flavored, Maybe a little too much milk but I never like too much milk. Ill need to stop by again sometime soon and get a cappuccino.
Nashville’s best coffee hands down
My friend Danny told me that SUMP was his favorite local roaster/place to buy coffee. As a coffee connoisseur, whos been looking for the local shops that are a cut above the rest I knew I needed to check it out. Luckily i did, the pour over I got was delightful, and I bought a bag of their Kenya blend to try at home to see what I can do with their beans. Im super excited to see if this will be my favorite beans to buy.
Cute location and nice baristas, but the espresso wasnt all I that I was hoping it would be. Especially for the price 😢
Went in for a standard coffee order...12 oz Americano. Was told they only make 6oz. Americanos... O.K. What about coconut milk? No... just almond and oat milk. So anyway... my point is they have extremely limited offerings. I’m not looking for Starbucks here just a little more than what they offer. Oh, yeah, they didn’t have decaf coffee either. Cool vibe there but maybe too concerned about being cool.
Love this experience every time! This is true “destination” coffee. They are humble enough to reflect that praise, but it is well-deserved. Their pour overs are Nirvana-esque. Owner Scott Carey is a well-respected coffee professional with years of not just making great coffee & espresso (with shops in both Nashville and St. Louis), but creating an experience that is both enjoyable and inspiring. This place has the most precise equipment in town and the expertise to run it properly (one of the few shops locally with both an in-house Bellwether roaster and a Ground Control batch brewer).
One of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to
Great coffee in an open airy space. Service is friendly and pleasant. Right now the view isnt as nice as it could be due to the construction site right outside the lovely glass wall. It will deserve five stars if the quality stays as high and the view improves.
Fantastic espresso
Absolutely amazing specialty coffee. The barista was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the multiple espresso and pour over roast options. We had a very well extracted pour over and a delicious blueberry muffin. The location is a bit out of the way and has a beautiful outdoor seating space as well as an airy interior with big windows and cute mugs.We will definitely be back.
This is the best pour over I have ever had. I drive from Brentwood to Nashville just to get it.
Great coffee. They have really nice merch and pet-friendly outdoor seating.
The coffee is good. However this place is not only about coffee. Its about the location, atmosphere. When the sun hits the tables in the morning its a pure pleasure to sit and enjoy the morning. The whole design of the space is really nice. The staff is nice. Needles to say their logo is one of a kind
I can honestly say this was the best coffee Ive ever had. The staff was extremely nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cool place to enjoy a cup of coffee.
This place has the best selection of music. Cool atmosphere and great service. That in itself is proving to be a rarity in Nashville where lazy pathetic service is the norm. Seats are comfortable and the view if the up and coming One City are great. Selection of drinks and food is limited, but what they do have is delicious. I do give my stamp of approval for this establishment.
Nice location and this place is lovely. I love the interior design, modern/industrial. Great coffee selection, rich in flavor... on the high end of what i would normally spend for a coffee though.
As a coffee person, I love getting the chance to visit other coffee shops when Im visiting from out of town. Loved Sump Coffee in Nashville. The coffee was delicious, the chai was yummy, and the atmosphere was cozy. Appreciated the baristas and their kindness as well as suggestions on what beans to purchase and why!A must coffee visit.
I have two favorite coffee houses. Sump is one on this side of town. Don’t know how they do it, but the crema their baristas deliver is spot on. They offer Dozen Bakery pastry/muffins, too! Staff is ALWAYS kind and welcoming.
TL;DR: Excellent if you love unadulterated coffee. If Starbucks is Tito’s (harsh, astringent) Sump Coffee is a fine bourbon - there are many flavors to explore. They do have milk and sweetener. They are not really necessary here.Sump is the most technical and precise coffee shop I have been to, and I have been seeking out excellent shops in every city I’ve been to for years (SF, Vancouver, NYC, Sacramento, etc)They really care about the craft and it shows in their excellent product.Thank you all for your hard work!
First of all, this is not the place to get a fancy latte or a bottomless brew. There are plenty of other places that will accommodate that. Sump is a place to experience coffee in pure and honest way. As a lover of coffee, I have not found another roaster / cafe that serves coffee in a way that brings out the best of the bean and not the roast. Mostly all light roasts, there is such measured purpose in everything these guys do that I believe it honors the farmers around the world that grow these beans.Just be prepared as there is no sugar or cream options in this cafe. But don’t let that dissuade you. Do yourself a favor and just go and try one of their brew methods of the day. Be careful though.. You may find that you change the way you drink coffee forever.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Nashville! The coffee is so delicious and the atmosphere is so cozy
My favorite hang in all of Nashville. The coffee is excellent, and the staff is both friendly and helpful. Be prepared to spend a few extra dollars, but its totally worth it. Sump is killing the game!
This coffeeshop is insane... the level of quality of their espresso and beans is unreal. Energetic, yet peaceful atmosphere. Great place to walk around outside, too!
Very excited to have Sump in Nashville! If you are looking for coffee done right, look no further. They know coffee and are very passionate about their product, which is second to none. Their St. Louis shop was the first to open my eyes to what coffee can be when it is roasted and brewed to perfection, and I have been hooked ever since.
Nice open, light place. Only 4 (very small) tables have access to an outlet, so not ideal if you need power to work. Cappuccino ~$4.75 for price reference.
Friendly staff great espresso, and quick service. Not much more you could all for in a coffee shop. Great space too, the patio area is really nice. Not as crowded as done other places which was nice.
Ive tasted all the great coffee all over the U.S. This one tops my list. Beyond stoked they are in Nashville now. Thank you SUMP!!!
This place is so cute and trendy, and the coffee was great too. I would definitely go back if I am in that area.
Visited this shop while visiting Nashville. They have some of the best coffee. I had a pour over which was delightful and their shots of espresso were even better. Highly recommend this shop to anyone who loves coffee.
Heads up- they stop serving drip coffee after 11am and their pour-overs are $5. They said they can’t do americanos because it’s too “light” so then I ordered a skim latte and they don’t have skim milk so I got almond and it was a very average latte, except for that fact it was $7... cool space though.
On a visit to Nashville I had some down time and was looking for a place to hang out. Saw the pictures of their beverages and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed as their coffee is great. I ordered an oat milk cappuccino which was not too sweet, creamy, and well balanced with the espresso. The shop and surrounding area looks to be newly developed and the back of the coffee shop is lined woth huge windows. They also offer water on the tables which is a huge plus. I would definitely come back when Im in Nashville again.
Sump Coffee is a new coffee shop in the up and coming OneCity off of Charlotte Ave. It has a good modern vibe with a neat subway style menu. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. It was fairly quiet and very nice outside where you can watch the water works or people playing yard ball next door.
From the other reviews I’ve read, it sounds like they have great espresso and cappuccino. Which I’m not into so I’m reviewing the coffee since it is technically a coffee shop. I ordered a large dark roast. The coffee was at best a medium sized, bland, over priced drink. Three stars because the building is very welcoming and cool looking with friendly staff. If you’re into coffee with just a touch of half and half like me, try somewhere else.
One of the best pourover coffee shops in the city. Fantastic staff. They are the nicest people around. Not much for food though besides baked goods.
These folks are helpful when it comes to choosing your brew. The descriptions of the varieties I have tasted so far are spot on and I was not misled. I also tasted the blueberry muffins and note that they have a lovely patio.
Classic Emperors New Clothes scam. This coffee probably tasted worse simply because of the price, but coffee at $5-$8 per cup ought to be amazing.I love coffee and drink it black, so no room for error. Bitter and stale, and my hubbys had some citrus something sprayed on it that literally tasted like the smell of rotten veggies in a garbage disposal. Watching the barista make it was an experience, the shop is beautiful and service was excellent, but old, cheap coffee beans are still old, cheap beans no matter how perfect your brewing process. This place is in a super hipster neighborhood and the only place in walking distance. Be honest with yourself...Ive had better coffee from gas stations.
They do the fancy coffee thing. They know a lot about coffee and it shows. If youre into that, you would probably like it. Its also a very airy, naturally well lit, inviting space. And the staff is friendly. So even not being someone who is super into the intricacies of coffee I still enjoy it very much each time i go. And Ill continue to go. Its location is so convenient if youre spending time at OneCity or heading down Charlotte too.
For all the purists out there, Sump offers the simple exquisitely. We are looking forward to visiting again and trying a different roast!
Fantastic cappuccino. Parking can be wonky. Not a huge fan at the number of people who take up an entire table for one person BUT the coffee and service is great. So that’s good.
I was so happy to see Sump here in Nashville!I originally had them (and, incidentally, a beer made with their coffee) in their original city of St. Louis, and it was primo coffee for sure (and beer). So, when I drove by and recognized the name, I came in and had some and it looks like the 300 mile trek has not diminished their quality - the coffee was flavorful and delicious, the tea was cool and refreshing, and the locale was what Id wager will be a very hip place in the coming year or so. If youre in the neighborhood (or in St. Louis), go ahead and get your caffeine fix here!
Fantastic coffee! On par (or better) than the best cups Ive had at all the great shops in town. Spacious patio seating outside too.
I love the St. Louis location and the Nashville location just as awesome in pretty much every way!
Great place. Loyal buyer from now on.
I often work at coffee shops. This one is my favorite in Nashville - despite a lot of really good competition. The espresso drinks are a cut above the rest. Always quiet, easy parking, etc.
There are all kinds of coffee shops in Nashville, and there are plenty that are enough that make a point to show how serious they are coffee. This is very difficult to pull of and not look like a bunch of self-important hipsters. The vast majority of serious coffee shops either cant pull it off because their staff doesnt know anything more than the instructions from the manager, or theyre so pretentious that you dont fee comfortable talking to them.Thankfully, Sump is not either of those. Baristas are intelligent enough to talk coffee and make really good coffee without being so full of themselves that you dont want to know about it. My only issues are the awkward location and the price, which was a little high. Still solid four star coffee place. If youre a coffee guy, and you know if you are, then this is definitely a cool place to check out.
Great coffee and a very nice space. The gentleman working was obviously concerned about putting b out awesome coffee and it showed in the cup. Loved it
Great coffee, great service, and really love the atmosphere. Would highly recommend the Sump Nashville location to anyone wanting a great coffee experience.
After suffering through the decline of several local coffee shops, I have found a great new favorite in town. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, the coffee is fantastic, and the espresso is the most dialed in in town. Yes, it is expensive, but so are most places in town, so do yourself a favor and check them out before they become too busy.
Drinks here are totally pricy but totally delicious. The menu is creative and their matcha is on point! They have oat milk as an option, of which I am a huge fan.
I have visited many coffee shops in the greater Nashville area and Sump Coffee is without a doubt the best cup of coffee I have had. They know what they are doing and care about providing a quality cup of coffee to each customer.
Expertly roasted and brewed coffee! I had the Ethiopia Duromina and it was delicious.
Wow! The coffee here is awesome! This is the best coffee I’ve tasted in the USA so far. Thanks guys!
Some of the best coffee in Nashville. Great spot for getting work done away from the really busy touristy spots.
Great service and coffee!!
Great knowledgeable staff and very solid coffee in a beautiful space. Worth the trip!
Come! From whatever distance necessary. Reminiscent of Italy. Expresso so smooth that you don’t need sugar, and I always need sugar!
Good coffee selection. Nice people. Relaxed atmosphere. A great chill spot.
Easily without doubt the best coffee and coffee shop in Nashville! Some serious premium beverages offered. Staff if friendly and quite knowledgeable about coffee.
Great service, excellent coffee. Nice atmosphere.
Great cappucino! A bit pricier than most, however
Maybe the best coffee in Nashville. Boldly unique with quality-centered craft.
Sump has been one of my favorite roasters for years. They are a great addition to the Nashville coffee scene!
Chill atmosphere, and awesome variety of craft coffee.
I only had an espresso and a pastry but both were delicious and the staff friendly. The setting is new, modern, and very clean.
Enjoyed a Carmel mocha here, yummy & loved the shop. Friendly staff as well!!!
Great atmosphere and an extensive list of pour over coffees.
Much awaited and we are so glad its finally here! Friendly baristas, fantastic coffee. Welcome to the neighborhood, fam.
The food was tasty and there was a nice variety.
