Espresso was decent, nothing over the top. Cup was not preheated. Apple crumb lacked flavor and sweetness. Would have been better heated up but apparently they have no oven or microwave?? I didnt even finish it, if I am going to eat sweets, they should taste amazing and melt in my mouth. Was hoping for better since this was a small hole in the wall shop.

Sooooo good!!We had the Havana and Cafe Brule - delicious!Wonderful, friendly service and the drinks were ready in no time - enjoyed them in the small, upstairs seating area. Downstairs and outside seating are available as well.

Why don’t you guys have oat milk? Almond milk is a thing of the past as it just doesn’t taste good in coffee. All the other shops have oat milk but here. That’s why I don’t come here anymore otherwise used to think it was pretty good until I switched to oat milk coffees.

This was suggested by a friend for a meeting place. The time was 11am in a Sunday.The inside is a bit small and conversations if hushed may not be heard at times, other customers may talk loudly, which may make it difficult to speak to your companions.There are (4) tables that seat abouta total of 14 persons.You have to walk through the front counter and prep area to use the bathroom; which was spotless.The product was awesome. She had a Zephyr, I had the Coronado. Both were deliciousness in a cup.The service was good and the wait was brief; we will definitely be visiting again.

Great across the board! My favorite thing is that I can grab a decaf or half caf cold brew here when I have a craving too late to have a second dose of caffeine. Also love the local art on the walls!

I love their coffee. It is one of the best however, Im only giving 3 stars because everytime I asked for 190° or extra hot coffee, they dont make it. Instead, I end up with a lukewarm coffee which I hate. I always end up giving my coffee to my husband and would just go to Starbucks to get extra hot coffee. Its such a waste of my time. I hope they change this so that the customer will be fully satisfied.

Probably 2 years ago I got a Havana from recommendation by a friend. Thought it was the best coffee Ive ever had. Some years has past since I went there and today, on a whim, I went in hopes they still had it. I order and not 60 seconds later I had it.... Yup, still best coffee drink Ive ever had.

Rivals one other place for best coffee I have ever had. Most of the time I get a latte and it has the creamiest silkiest texture and minimal bitterness. If you usually get espresso with sweetener then I urge you to try this without because its not necessary for this coffee.

Preservation has my favorite plain latte. Just a heads up, each shot is a double shot, so that may change the flavor of your coffee is your arent prepared for it. Im not going to lie though, preservation is pretty crammed as far as space, and it doesnt fit the cliche mold for coffee shop youd camp out at for hours. There are almost no outlets, but theres always some eclectic artwork to look at.

This coffee did not hit the spot I was recommended to go here because they had the best coffee and Ive honestly had better. I got a vanilla iced latte and first off it didnt taste like vanilla and the coffee tasted burned. I also bought a pastry and it tasted like it was old like its been sitting there a few days.Also I believe that place could have been much more cleaner and more decorative for being there a while and I was a bit disappointed. They also have a small menu. GoodLuck!

I enjoyed coming to this small secluded area. Its very welcoming. Nothing like any other place. They have a piano for people to play a chess table to engage in conversation. Recommend it for you. Something New.

My favorite local place for quality coffee and tea. As often as Ive gone, I havent had a bad or over-roasted cup. I love the modest but very tasteful selection of loose-leaf teas and its one of the very few places I know that Ive never had over-steep hot tea. Somewhat bohemian, cozy and modest. Very, very friendly staff.

Dont expect an expansive food menu, local made pastries are always available, luckily they wont disappoint.Location is nice and a parking garage is nearby. In and out in less than 15 minutes and the parking is free. Definitely possible if the line is short.Space can often be limited on the first floor, as it usually fills up quickly. A loft-like second floor with additional seating is also available.Artsy types and trendy youngsters will definitely be afoot. Definitely a plus - it keeps the atmosphere fun and fresh. Dont be afraid of dropping in with a well behaved dog or child, everyone is welcomed here. 😉TLDR; personality, quality coffee, tasty snacks, and friendly staff - all with a unique and wonderful flavor.

I enjoy coming to Preservation. Productive environment. It a good place to chill, have a meeting, and/or get work done. The drinks are decent. The atmosphere is its best quality.Friendly staff and great vibes make this place worthy of a visit.

Coffee is great here! Some of the best Ive had. The only reason for 4 stars is that the girl making the coffee didnt really talk or seemed unwilling to answer my question when I asked about their different types of coffee. The guy was great and professional.Im not too big on coffee knowledge but I love to drink it, I would have liked to have them explain to me the different types they have.

This is a real gem in downtown Modesto. Its a true coffee shop where the espresso shots are pulled by hand. The quirky staff is always friendly, and as a testament to how great this place its, youll frequently see off-duty staff hanging out here. It gives you a real sense of community that is lacking in the Wal-Mart, chain restaurant world we live in.That aside, the coffee is excellent. Try the clubhouse mocha!

My boyfriend heard about this place so we stopped by after after having lunch in Modesto. Asked the barista what they were known for and he happily gave us all the information on their most popular coffee drinks. Was not disappointed. They were creamy, full of flavor and just enough sweetness. Will go back again!

Got a soy latte. You should drive out of your way for this place. Latte was not too sweet and had the right amount of Expresso. I tend to drink coffee black, but enjoy lattes once in a while. They use a good bean and it was worth the 4.25...would definitely go back for the latte.

Want real coffee but dont want to drive all the way to San Francisco, the closest place that serves it? Me either. Although pricey, Preservation offers an authentic coffee taste with every sip, not relying on sugary syrups like McDonalds or Starbucks. Their Capacino is phenomenal.

Really like the Tea they made me to help my cough, not sure what it was but it helped! My buddies coffee had a really rad design on it and the atmosphere was great! Really liked the employees too. Super nice.

This is a specialty coffee haven. As far as quality goes, this is the best you can get in the valley. From espresso to black coffee and cold brewed coffee, they have their preparation down. The staff are nice if youre nice to them. The place is a bit small so dont expect to always have a table free.

Yummy coffee, warm customer service. They sell the artwork from local artists on their wall which is nice. And they offer to go cups or classic coffee cups with a little saucer. Its got a nice local feel, and super rich chocolate brownies!

Seeded by the greatness that was Serranos Social Club, Preservation does a good job keeping the flame alive. Dont come in expecting Starbucks like milkshake desert drinks named with made up words. Just delicious coffee and espresso drinks made from fresh roasted beans.

I love to support small businesses that support others. The atmosphere is nice and they’re pastries are great. It seems each day they offer different pastries, but I haven’t been disappointed.

I thought I would be disappointed after seeing the menu. Very plain and simple. However, the gentleman who helped me out recommended a beautiful tea and the clubhouse mocha. A big kids hot chocolate for my daughter. This place is delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This place is very small and definitely has a college feel. Very nice. very comfy. Only has like 3 tables so not much seating but they serve a great cup of coffee.

Great coffee, great service. Ive been in here a few times now, and have always enjoyed my experience here. The coffee is more expensive than other chains (such as Starbucks) but you expect that when they bring in really special and high quality coffee and tea. The atmosphere is pretty chill, and sometimes they have cool events like record swaps (yes records!) and other get togethers. If you are looking for a coffee/tea place to go, definitely check this one out.

One of the only coffee shops in a pretty large radius that takes their coffee seriously. (50 miles?) Coffee from great roasters, solid baristas, cool independent atmosphere. If you like serious coffee, this place is must.

A pretty hip place. Theyve got some art inside, posters for upcoming local events, and a cozy loft to sit in. The service is good. They can be a bit short on seating, so dont bring a group. Bear in mind that their espresso is VERY ROASTY, so order a sweeter drink if thats not your thing.

After seeing 93 great review my expectations were a little too high. I was left underwhelmed with my coffee. The staff was really friendly but I guess this is a good spot for Modesto.

So my buddies had been ranting and raving about the French press here so I decided I had to check it out. Well when I got there, there was none! The only newspaper they had was the Modesto View. I thumbed through that and found not a single word of French. There wasnt even an article about France or a French author. Even the artist of the month was some crazy British photographer. Boy was I mad. But then I had the best cup of coffee in my life. So I guess it was pretty good.

😍 lavender syrup is life! Little tiny, but thats just because everyone loves going there. Get you a seat, look at the local artwork, and just enjoy a lovely beverage

I gave this place a couple tries. I drink decaf, and have tried both their drip coffee, and americano. Neither were any good.Its a nice little place with friendly employees, I just cant seem to be able to get a decent cup of coffee there.

The atmosphere is what youd expect from a San Francisco coffee loft. Coffee is excellent and the selections: well curated. Anyone who follows them on Instagram knows that the staff is essentially one coffee loving family who often share amongst themselves and the customers their passion.

Was visiting from Portland and needed some proper coffee. Read the reviews of the place, so gave it a shot. The coffee they have is from Portland, Olympia and Seattle roasters, which I like, but was hoping this place was an independent coffee roaster. All in all the coffee tastes like it came from the Northwest for obvious reasons, the staff is friendly, but demi-knowledgeable. Will be back next time I am in Modesto.

Great. Im not used to finding good coffee in Modesto. I wish I had known about this place when I lived here. Had the Big Truck Espresso and it was really good. Nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Wasnt sure which coffee it was for the drip coffee, but it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as Chromatic Coffee in Santa Clara but handily beats any of the chain coffee houses.

They are very knowledgeable about everything coffee and love to help people learn and enjoy what they offer. Best specialty coffee place within a 3 hours drive.

I was there working from 10am until about 4:30pm and felt neither rushed nor uncomfortable. The coffee is beautiful and tastes amazing and the workers were very friendly as well.

On 3 separate occasions they refused to make my order. Simple orders like a double espresso to go, and then proceeded to tell me how every other coffee place is wrong for serving it. They also lectured my wife on her choice of sweetener.
