This is a neighborhood gem. If you have not tried ground pork, this is where you should begin. I grew up in Iowa and their pork is incredible. Such a great selection of fresh cut meat and much more. Give them a shot and you will not be disappointed.

Nice selection of quality meats, but the sandwiches left a little to be desired. Meatloaf just want very flavorful. The New York sandwich was good.

Youre missing out! A must stop shop if youre in Modesto. Grab a sandwich, a drink from their large variety and a bag if chips. You can pick up a giant Tomahawk cut steak and some beautiful BBQ ready Tri-Tip. Staff is friendly, place was clean and they were very knowledgeable. Make sure to TIP at the register.

This is a great spot to grab stuff for a bbq. The meats are well cut, the brauts are varied, the sides are fresh. They also have veggies and a variety of other things, a great all around little spot.

An excellent deli and one of the best old fashion meat counters you can find anywhere. Top quality meats, expertly cut, and a wide variety of hand made sausages brats. Friendly and helpful staff. One of my favorite places.

I’ve been in several times and each experience has been great from selecting meat, buying picnic stuff (delicious, fresh sandwiches and drinks), to getting a couple specialty and/or last min groceries for events. I’m so grateful this place exists and is in a great location!

Weve been customers since the Chopping Block opened and love their meats and sandwiches. We stopped in for lunch on 5/23/20 and were very disappointed that no one working there were wearing masks or gloves. This is food service during a pandemic and a SAH order, with the state in Stage 2. We wont be going back until this is over or they improve.

The San Francisco sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! Also, the meat and aram trays are so fresh and beautifully put together for parties. I highly recommend visiting here if you haven’t already!

..... Today 03/24/2019.. I returned To chopping block in the a.m. they rectify the situation by returning my money she also apologize and I do believe she was sincere from her heart. Customers and business must have communication.. I am very pleased on how well they handle my situation. I would like to give them more positive review and more stars,! . I feel absolutely convinced chopping block is a great deli. When you have a great personality and great communication skills with your customers they will return not only because they have great food but the personality was outstanding... My unpleasant experience turned out to be the best experience!!.. Thank you chopping block, for making me feel appreciate.. Was really pleased with the selection and look forward to returning to try the sandwiches! Found a nice t bone for my dad and was happy to find buffalo & venison for burgers. I was hoping for some boar burgers too, but forgot to ask. Also grabbed to freezer packs of loin pork chops for later in the week. Will be heading back for the beef ribs I saw! My new favorite spot.

I forgot to write a review after my sister and I ate lunch at the Chopping Block Butcher Shop & Deli, so I had better get it done.It had been a long time since either of us had eaten any beef, so Cynthia order the Modesto and I ordered the Chicago. The deli also had huge stuffed green olives, so we ordered enough for two.Our lunches were great.

I have yet to find another Deli in Modesto that I can get a gluten-free sandwich made on sandwich bread.. the staff is super accommodating.. the owner is very friendly and the food is amazing.

The dread question arose, What do you want to eat?After a 10 minute discussion we agreed upon sandwiches.After another three minute we knew we didnt want a chain store sandwich.I had been trolling this location on Google for the past week so I threw the name out and it was agreed upon.Had the vegetarian, add sprouts and avocado, on a sour roll with all fixins. I must report that this was a damn fine sandwich.We just moved in down the way, will be coming back again, and again, and again....Thank you

I love getting their filling breakfast sandwich (made fresh when you order) and a large cup of just brewd hot coffee...sandwich with ham eggs and choice of cheese for $2.99! And large coffee $.99! Great breakfast for well under $5! Amazing find. - And for an after lunch treat, make sure to get a baklava to go.

Wow! obviously there ALWAYS room for some type of improvement... BUT this business is hard pressed for places to improve. I have been here a handful of times now and EVERYTIME I have been greeted by friendly employees and ALWAYS acknowledged by at least two employees. In addition, the butcher or employee standing behind the meat counter always seems to keep a close eye on customers that seem to be looking for something but cant quite find it - he has helped/assisted me at least twice. I also super appreciated their show of American patriotism for American Service Members and pride in country.

Sandwich was good. I got a Modesto, add bacon, barbeque sauce and provolone. Bacon was extra, and I think so was the barbeque sauce (a little odd). Cheese was included in price.Their in-house tortilla chips are good (taste good all on their own), but are pricey for what they are. So, they are probably as-intended, so I wont fault that.They sometimes have samples of chips and salsa out, so try it for yourself.So, in summary I consider this a good place to go when Im feeling a little indulgent and want a sandwich.I have not tried anything from the general deli or butcher shop, so I cant say anything there.

Being the first time there the staff could of been a little nicer. They seemed to busy to help with only one other person in the store. Food was good.

Its usually great but today the meat on my Reuben was too thick.😞and I got the end cut.

I went there to get a sandwich and maybe a steak to bring home to cook. The sandwich I got had hard bread on it. and the only steaks that I was looking for were Ribeye and the rib eye steaks they had, had too much fat in them so I didnt buy one. The bread on my sandwich was way to hard. Im sorry but i wont be going to this place again.

This place has the WORST customer service ever. Came in to purchase all of my dinner items for tonight but ended up just getting the meat since they already packaged it for me. If I could give them a 0 star I would. My 16.4k Instagram followers are going to hear about their awful customer service as well. I’ll never come back here. Ever!

Stopped in here the other day for lunch, and I have to admit it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

I live in Manteca and its worth the drive because other stores like Walmart or Savemart doesnt carry Head Cheese. Not everyone knows what it is so I find it very funny.
