Great little Mexican Market with a awesome lunch area. Most of the veggies are fresh some arent and they have great butcher shop meat counter. They dont carry everything most items are international so you wont find big brand names here if they have them its very limited variety. Place is great for a quick trip but if you want alot of items stick with food 4 less or food Maxx. This place is great lunch spot and quick items you need to complete a dinner.

I walked in two cashiers open and about 100 waiting to pay. Lines all the way back to meat dept. Bakery area no bags to bag bread. When i was ready to pay had to go look for manager because the lines were getting longer and two cashiers doing their best. Manager according to an employee in a meeting and nobody else in charge of the floor on site.

A couple of cashiers keep riping me off. One cashier charged me for a 12 pack of sodas that I did not purchased and a couple of items that I did not get. Today I went to purchase a coffee and charged me ad if I got a hot chocolate. Im wondering if there are more coustemers that got ripped off in this store. I dont understand why cashiers will charge you for items that you did not purchased?

Great meat counter you can find more out of the ordinary meats and seafood. Nice produce and a panderia and Taqueria to top it off. It is a very traditional Mexican market so it does help to speak Spanish but if not you will still be able to communicate and have great service.

I left my tablet in my cart accidentally and after I realized I left it I came back right back 5 minutes later and the security guard said he put it on top of the garbage can and someone had took it. I didnt believe him who does that? I was so angry and felt disrespected because either he was lying or he was stupid either way he shouldnt be doing security isnt he supposed to also protect the customer thats bringing money to pay so he has a job?

It wasnt bad, not crowded..and the coin star was working! And I found out that they now deliver!! More details on that when I get them!!

Customer service and sense of urgency is non existent here sadly. Hot food is priced higher than other restaurants in the area, food is also somewhat greasy. For a lunch plate and a drink it’s nearly $15 with tax.They need more than one person working the hot food station especially during busy lunch hours. If there’s one person ahead of me I shouldn’t be waiting over 5 mins to be asked what my order is......Too many times I’ve come and spent a great deal of time on my lunch break waiting to be served ready made food. There won’t even be that many people ahead, sometimes it’s just one person ahead, like today and the wait for food that’s ALREADY cooked is pretty long. If they had at least one other person working that station, it probably would go a lot quicker.So unfortunately I won’t be coming back to this business, as there are far too many other options around this area for lunch. I come here for the ready made food, but I’m always waiting forever so what’s the point, I might as well order from an actual restaurant. They also never answer the phone so it’s not like I can call in an order. I don’t know why I even bothered trying to come here anymore.The food is ok but it’s really a hit or miss most times and it is not worth waiting that long for. Hopefully this review makes them change their practices for the better or I’d assume this place will be wasting a lot of ready made food due to slow businesses from lack of timely service.

Service is not professional or sanitary. Monday March 22, 2021. The place had few customers. I purchased ready to go food and they don’t offer no condiments which the food is plain dry. No salt, hot sauce, lemon, which for Mexican for is almost mandatory. Worst of all no napkins. I was told there is no more they need to go to the warehouse. I asked the cashier she went to 4 different stations to find a roll and gave me 2 pieces. Employees are mad or sad which really makes the place depressing. They used to play music before. Employees look like robots. We are dealing with pandemic time and it’s just not a good service here.

Their quality is usually good, BUT unless something is ON AD, STAY AWAY. Compared to other places I shop, INCLUDING RALEYS, the PRICES are unreasonable. In my opinion, they are ripping off their own people (Hispanic)!

Panaderia is awesome. They have my jalapeno cheese bread. Chocoflan is good. They also have hot food and a carniceria.

Saw the BBQ chicken cooking outside and thought Id give them a shot. I ordered some steak fries and some pork ribs. The customer service was whack AF, I asked the lady to put my food in a tray, she put my ribs and fries in plastic bags. No ketchup, no BBQ sauce, poor attitude when I asked the lady 3x to please put my food in a tray.

When this was Mi Pueblo I loved the meat department it was so clean an inviting. It has really gone downhill since it became Cardenas. Maybe if they cleaned up a bit the entire store it would be more inviting.

Havent had any kind of good or bad experience here... I dont come here often. I only come here for the Rompope, and it went up $3.00 dollars... So if I find it somewhere else for cheaper, I will stop coming here.

This location, formerly Mi Pueblo Food Market, is a popular, well stocked store which carries Hispanic brands, fresh fruits, produce, full service meat and seafood counter to have your choice of pork, beef, and poultry meats cut and trimmed to order, dairy department, hot food to eat in or take out, and a large assortment of Mexican pastries baked in-house. We went in after 4:30 p.m. to buy fried whole tilapia for dinner, but they only had two left and they do not fry fish from the seafood case. Although the lines were long, as only a few registers were open, the wait time was about 10-15 minutes. Overall, I limit my visits due to the occasionally full parking lot, but I do appreciate a well stocked store with great products and will definitely be returning.

I have been to this place dozen of times never had a problem till yesterday on Memorial day I had to get milk for my sister who is on quarantine and has two kids and cardenas didnt have the amount of milk I was asking for my sisters wic, my nephew and niece had to go a whole day without milk because the said they could not substitute milk which WIC has allowed until 5/31/2020

Great supermarket! Opens early for us early birds and has an excellent fresh meat selection, while offering brand name products at a competitive price. They really do deserve four stars and I continually recommend Cardenas to everyone I know.

So, today’s my 5year old son’s birthday and all I wanted from this place was a Thomas train cake from their catalog de 3 leches, and they did let me know that they didn’t have the toy and I said fine but I still want Thomas Train like what you have in your catalog and round instead of a squared cake. And this is what I got today, so how do you think I feel about it smh. And the lady that attended me yesterday was most likely the same lady as today, and told me didn’t the other person tell you that the one that makes the cake decorations better wasn’t going to be the one working on your cake, and I’m like “no, no one told me”. So I’m really mad I paid $25.00 without the Thomas train cake topper and the cake doesn’t even look nothing like the catalog.

To many issues if your not watchful they will over charge at the register. The baked food is bad and they dont put expire dates! Corn bread/ pan de elote!They never answer their phone. I went this morning to get a breakfast burrito (huevos con chorizo) and it was disgusting, very greasy, hardly any egg, beans were watery, etc etc. I mean for $8 a burrito i expected something somewhat decent, but instead was very disappointed!

Disappointing. We went to the Cardenas Market in El Centro, CA and it was a super great experience. They had everything you could ever want there.The tortillas, although made on site, were very different than the Cardenas in El Centro. This is mu 1st and last visit to this place.Hope the owners of Cardenas read this post and come out to Modesto to do some quality control for consistency across all their stores.

Always check when been rang up i had 3 items that where in the ad ringing up regular price took about 15 min for them to take fix it.

Went to buy fish to make some ceviche. While we were at the store my wife decided to inspect the fish and discovered that it smelled like it was beginning to spoil. We returned to the salesperson and told them that it smelled bad. Instead of throwing it away, they put it back on the display case to sell it to another customer. Be very careful when buying seafood from this market

Everything is very expensive in this store. Its amazing that a neighborhood grocery store in this area would charge so much because of underprivileged people that live in this area. I honestly think its sad that a store would take advantage of our neighborhood.

We had a late lunch I Ate in the store at the Deli restaurant. They have several tables to dine in. Everything cooked in Steam tables looked Delicious. Authentic Mexican Food, I bought the Caldo De Reis it tasted Delicious fresh Vegetables

Very good peoples grocery store where they basically have about any type of food, vegetables,fruits, etc.they also make lots of warm, or hot food which you can eat in there on there tables,which they have or like alot of people do take home or else where and eat it there,they also make sweet bread there daily,plus the make cakes for all occasions, all you do is order ahead of time and theyll make it for you.

I wanted to buy a tres leches cake. I was told there was only one tres leches cake left with strawberry filling. When I got home it didnt have strawberry filling.

Honestly since it stopped being mi Pueblo abd changed their employees I almost didnt want to go anymore because most of them have a bad attitude, but I kept going. Until today. I dont think Ill be going back. We bought chicharrones, which were super expensive to begin with but we really wanted some so we bought them. Unfortunately they tasted terrible. It was really clear by the flavor that they had been prepared in very old lard. The flavor was so bad that they ended up in the trash.

We bought $40 of groceries and of the $7 that is taxable (glass cleaner and sponges) the total tax ended up being $7... somehow even if they taxed food (as everyone but the store knows obviously) that doesnt add up unless the tax is over 10%

Although it has changed its name it still the best grocery store on crowslanding!!!

Disgusting and overpriced. Bought some chicken breast 2 days ago and it smelled bad after i got home, today it is rancid, so huge waste of money, there was either a dust bunny or anumal hair in the tostadas i bought too, my parents took it back and no idea how it was resolved. Go elsewhere, its not worth the price and possible food poisoning, this place has some shady practices going on.
