Great selection, you may be more likely to find what youre looking for here than Barnes and Noble.

One of the best and smartest bookstores I have ever visited.Everything I expected to see, I saw; I saw a lot that was new to me, and I learned when I was in the store.I bought more than I planned, and was happy to do it.

I love the garthazon online ordering!! This time I ordered 2 books of whichever edition (basically said surprise me 😆), and received absolutely, stunningly beautiful books that made my bibliophile heart quicken! I *was going to gift one of these... but Ive decided that I will gift my older copy instead and keep this one for myself 🤫😅

This is my favorite book store! It is such a treat each time to go in and find ten times the number of books I walked in looking for. They are so great about ordering books in for you as well! The kids section is well stocked and I so appreciate the range of books for young readers! Love this shop.

Considering it is only a medium size town, Missoula is fortunate to have so many writers and so many bookstores. Further, the independent book stores like Shakespeare & Co. and Fact & Fiction take and active hand in promoting local writers with displays and readings. Shakespeare & Co. is a great store to find the book you did not expect to find anywhere. It isnt a coffee shop. It isnt a place to set up your laptop and do research. It is a bookstore that is a great place to find books.

Great and eclectic selection, especially for such a small store! I particularly appreciate the graphic memoirs/literature they have to offer, which are hard to find in general let alone in Missoula. The other merchandise (especially the postcards!) is great as well. Unlike another bookstore in town (okay, Fact and Fiction), I find the atmosphere very inviting and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Brought friends from out of town and they loved it too.

Easily the best literary bookstore in Missoula. The owner, Garth, is extremely knowledgeable, and a nice guy, to boot. I cannot recommend this bookstore highly enough. One caveat: He does not stock the latest bestsellers. His store caters to serious readers.

Local bookseller of preference. For a small store they have an impressive and tastefully curated inventory. If they dont have what youre looking for, theyre happy to get their hands on it quickly. Its a pleasure to see the independent brick-and-mortars thrive in spite of Amazon.

A nice reminder that small, independent bookstores still exist and are troves of good reads. Its pretty small so youre not going to find everything here; but the unique selection of offerings makes this the perfect place to come without a particular book in mind but rather a willingness to find something new.All the books on sale here are ensured to be high-quality and interesting, with an emphasis on showcasing unknowns as well as literature relevant to the area.Of course, being independently-owned means everyone here is quite friendly and will gladly give you suggestions and (if youre extra nice) might order a specific book you want if its not in stock. If youre a bibliophile theres bound to be something on these shelves just for you, and you might not find it even in the bigger stores with bigger selections.

What a gem of a bookstore! We were visiting for a conference and wandered in to browse. We walked out with a half dozen books. What a great spot to find good contemporary lit, graphic novels, and other texts. A great haunt for a bibliophile!

Shakespeare and Company has survived the decline in book sales by listening to consumer demand and adapting to the times. It is a bright, cheerful small business owned by a local celebrity (Garth Whitson) and run by a small staff of knowledgeable book enthusiasts. They frequently open the space to authors for readings and book events. They also participate in citywide literary events like Festival of the Book. Shakespeare and Co. is a touchstone and bright place for authors and readers alike. May it continue to thrive in the heart of Missoula.

One of the rudest and most stuck up guys working here that I have ever had the displeasure of being talked down to by. Id rather go somewhere that understands humility and respecting their customers. My money is no good here and as far as I am concerned...they do not exist. Also, they have quite a mediocre selection of books and I think this guy doesnt even really enjoy reading.

We were visiting Missoula while our son was in camp, and really enjoyed this bookstore. It is the classic, independent book store. Not the massive amounts of books as the chains, but lots of interesting books. They had a good selection specific to the Montana area. The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for folks visiting Missoula, both in books and in the attractions of the area.
