They answer the phone right away, got me an appointment promptly at a time that worked for me, did the work really fast and for a very reasonable price. John is there, refers to me by name, has never sold me a repair I dont need. Good, solid neighborhood place that I would, and have recommended to my friends and family.

Jeff and John were awesome! My wife and I were on a road trip when we found Lowry Repair Center. We had just got some costly repairs done in Wisconsin before coming to Minneapolis, when our car began making a clunking noise. Jeff got us in the same morning and fixed our issue. Jeff and John took the time to explain how the problem happened, show us what was going on, and they also did a once-over on the vehicle for our trip back to Denver. They gave an honest assessment and said we have some leaks and a break issue to fix, but said we should have no problem making it back home to Colorado. Based on our experience, I have no doubt these guys are honest and good mechanics. Thanks again!

John an Jeff did a great job on replacing my motor on my 1996. K 1500 4 x 4 Chevy and replacing all fluids from front to back, gas line, servicing the transmission and they also rebuilt the differential. basically took my old motor out and put a new crate motor in my truck. Aside from doing the job in a time allotment that was absolutely amazing, they did the job flawlessly! They really did a super job keeping me updated and well-informed on what was going on with the trucks progress. I’m happy to report my truck runs fantastic, they took good care of my truck and prices were very fair. They went far above and beyond what was expected of the job and i was even more impressed that they did it all within a six day work week. I was never one to trust a mechanic shop right off the bat but my gut instincts told me these were some guys I could trust. I knew also from speaking with them and with them being in business since the mid 60’s they were still around because they were a great business to bring your vehicles to. A very trustworthy shop & I will recommend Lowry automotive to anyone I know looking for some work to be done on a vehicle or even for just an oil change. . In a world that’s full of swindlers and crooks and trusting someone is a difficult task at hand these days enough as it is, Lowry auto is a rare find for a business. I have returned to Lowry Repair Center after an absence from opting for a repair garage closer to home, which resulted in wasted time and money. Nothing beats the great work, personal intercation, honesty, and fair prices of Lowry Repair Center.

I had a no crank, no start issue. I called Lowry Repair center. And spoke with jeff on the phone. He was awesome. He let me know that I should have it towed there and that he was going to charge an hour and a half for diagnostic, and if there was something wrong and I had them fix it that they would credit half of that diagnostic toward the repair total. And I let him know that that was cool. A lot of places didnt do thatSo, I had my vehicle towed there. The tow truck driver called me when he dropped it off. I have a Viper Remote start and security system on my car, about 20 minutes after I received the call from the tow truck driver my phone made a notification alert from Viper that my car had been started. I then call John Lowry, He let me know that Jeff had been working on it, got it started, and went home from the day and was going to come back tomorrow and finish the four-wheel drive light that was on.The next morning, I got a call about 8:00 oclock am, letting me know that the vehicle was completely done, that I could pick it up. John called me gain in the afternoon around 12:00 oclock and let me know that I could pick up the vehicle he said that they were leaving early, and I asked him if I could pay him over the phone and if he would just lock the keys in the car. He said he could do that.I asked him what my total was and he said $255 and some change and I asked him what I was being charged for an he said an hour and a half of diagnostic and an hour labor plus shop materials. I said so did you apply half of the diagnostic fee to the labor, and he said that they did not, and that it was because I was going to pay an hour and a half for electrical diagnostics cause it took them quite a while to figure out what was wrong with my vehicle because it was electrical.I let him know about my phone call with the tow truck driver and my Viper system. He still said that I would be paying for an hour and a half for a diagnostics fee and refused to credit half the fee that they said they would do in the first place. He then said do you want me to credit it to you and then charge you for 30 minutes labor to change the fuse?For what its worth, they did great work. It didnt take him long and they were honest about their work. But I feel lied to and duped. The issue with my vehicle was a fuse. And that my 4 wheel drive plug wasn’t plugged in all the way…..so $255 for a fuse and they fixed my 4 wheel drive light. I was a first-time customer and won’t be back. What gets me is the business short sightedness…I could have been a long-time customer…I wasn’t even asking for special treatment like “waive the invoice…it was just a fuse…blah blah blah. I was more than willing to pay the agreed upon price….this was their “promotion” not my suggestion or something…DO WHAT Y(OU SAY YOU”RE GOING TO, and you could have had a great customer who takes time to write honest reviews….that could have been super positive…..fail.So thats my story, not even a review. Its just what happened. Take it or leave it.

When you schedule a service call on what ever is wrong with your car. They will always check to make sure fluids, air pressure and anything else is ok.

Not really an all-around car shop as thy advertise; they pick and chose what kind of vehicles to work on...skilled mechanics - ya right.

Dude wanted to make a quick dollar. Cleared my code and told me not to trust multiple mechanics highly recommend scan tool. Didnt do a diligent inspection. No one should get paid 85 to lift a car and check oil. I did what he did before I brought it there. Later discovering the spark plugs are seized up.

I was very happy with the professionalism and service I received from Lowry Repair! They fit in a diagnostic test last minute for me, and fixed everything within a few hours. I feel like they are reasonably priced and dont overcharge. They were also very kind, especially considering I dont know much about cars, and I really appreciated how they explained the services without patronizing me. Ive gone to other shops where I feel like I wasnt taken seriously as a woman, and I received only respect here (very grateful too because Im sure my car ignorance caused the problems oops). These guys are the kind of neighborhood mechanic you hope to find. Honest service and helpful advice. They’ve helped me identify when my car was ready to stop being repaired so that I could save up for a new car instead of throwing money into something that would probably stop working in the next couple years. Great experience with this shop. Went in for a brake inspection thinking I needed front brakes, but said I didnt need them. They fixed a few items I knew that needed to be done, and went above and beyond by fixing a rattle that my exhaust was causing.

Had brake pads checked on an older car that I intend to trade for a newer one in 6 months. John explained that the pads were worn but could last the 6 months. I appreciate his honesty, and no pressure to buy a costly brake job I did not need!

Lowry Repair Center was excellent, we brought in an older (73) van that we had to tow in and the guys at the shop couldnt have been more cool about it. They were happy to help us out and did a great job getting the van running like a champ again. It was in on a Friday and done on Monday, price was very fair. I brought my Buick here in a dire situation. The heat went out in the very beginning of the cold season. Frozen to the bone I brought it to another shop. They told me they thought it was electrical and ripped out my entire dashboard. Only to then not be able to figure it out or fix it. So I pulled into Lowry repair center without an appointment, just a hope they could help me. And did they ever. Not only did John get me in that minute but he fixed it in half of a day. This was my first time. I have to say, I was well pleased with the service I received! The shop I typically receive service from would not accept the service agreement I purchased when I bought my vehicle so I needed to look elsewhere - this is what lead me to Johns! The employees could not have been more kind. They were very personable, made me coffee and fixed my car. Repairs never seem to be cheap but I feel as though I received great service at a fair price. Although I would go back, I hope I dont have to any time soon!

I came to Lowry’s after reading good reviews and was not disappointed. Brought my car in for a couple of engine repairs at 8 in the morning and it was ready at 4 the same day. They gave me a loaner for no charge—just had to bring it back with a full tank. John explained exactly what was wrong and the most cost-efficient way he could fix it.

Actually they charge for what needed fixing and may throw in a lagniappe -- like patching a tire that I hadnt noticed. Heading there first thing tomorrow expecting a quick turnaround on an exhaust repair on my 99 S10. They are good mechanics; get to know them and youll get great service.

Quality local service! this is the first shop to ever go out of their way by taking extra time of theirs to fix an issue my vehicle was having for free. My bendix drive when out in my starter and they got me towed in and taken care of promptly same day and gave a fair price for that service. I had installed a new drive belt tension-er/pulley and I had issues getting it to tighten up correctly. What amazed me about the level of their service provided is they went ahead and found a way to tighten it up for me without me even having to ask to get that fixed.Your vehicle will be taken care of here.

Wow! I called at 7:30 this morning because my car had died at work. I spoke to Jeff on the phone, he suggested my alternator had gone bad. He said they were booked for the day, but if I could get it in to them he would try to get a look at it today. I figured that meant they would get back to me tomorrow. John called me about 11am and confirmed it was the alternatorand that it would be fixed today. I was amazed!The car was done before 3pm. Jeff and John were great to deal with. I have a new auto repair shop and its only 1.5 miles from home. I wonder if they work on Harleys?I highly recommend Johns Lowry Repair Center to anyone in need of auto service.

Took a car into do a quick diagnostic was told $40 for what I needed checked. Was called and told I needed almost $500 worth in work. And when i went back in to pick up my car I was told it was now $65 for the diagnostic and that know one had told me $40 then when I started my car it was now miss firing like crazy. Hardly could get it back to my place. Ended up replacing just the spark plugs *$35 fix* and is now running smooth as ever. Going to wait for Turbo Tims next time.

Once again, Im driving home happy. John and Jeff take excellent care of all our family cars. I have over 117,000 miles on my 2002 Saturn and it still runs like new thanks to these guys. Ladies, this is THE place to go. For someone who loves his truck a little too much, I dont know a DANG thing about cars. I know how to change a headlight. That would be the extent of my knowledge.So on the rare occasion Im concerned about my vehicle, its hard to not panic. So many auto repair places prey on people like me, who are ignorant af and way too honest about it. I kick myself every time because I always tell the mechanic, so yadda yadda this problem keeps happening, and, I dont know anything about cars, but, I need your help! Its unfortunately an easy way to screw me over. How would I know if a service is needed or not? I wouldnt. Id just cry and open my wallet.I felt my truck having a brake issue -- even in 4-wheel-drive, I was feeling less and less confident that Id be able to stop in even the slightest bit of snow and slush. So anyway, I called one auto place over in Maplewood where I work, and the guy who talked to me seemed VERY condescending even on the phone in a 90-second conversation. I tried Lowry Repair Center because I saw a really good review on here. Even on the phone, Jeff from the shop was patient and friendly with my ignorant self.I got my truck into the shop this morning. They have loaner cars available for free, but I didnt reserve one since I wasnt thinkin ahead. Jeff seemed genuinely apologetic I didnt get a loaner, even though it was my own fault. I told him it was no problem, and I was going to walk to a coffee shop while they worked on my truck.When they were done working on it, I walked back, and Jeff said off-handedly that they sped up my service because he knew I was waiting without transportation. I didnt ask him to do that! He said theyd be done by early afternoon, and he was done just after 11am. So nice.Then, the bill came. I was nervous. As it turns out, my brakes were more or less fine (lol). My rear brake drums (whatever the hell that is) were kinda out of alignment (idk), which can affect the stopping distance and the spongey-ness of the brake pedal. So, they adjusted those. I was also worried about my anti-lock brake system (it seemed a little over-zealous), so they checked all that out. The bill was $25. Thats it. Jeff said there was nothing wrong with my truck, just the drum thingies, so they charged me for the inspection and the labor and thats it.So, so honest. He even explained how the drums work a little bit, and explained it in terms I could understand. (I just already forgot because I dont retain mechanic things for some reason. I put my traditional-understanding-of-masculinity to shame, tbh. :/ )If you frequently fall prey to experts on things you dont understand, Id recommend these guys. A lot of honest auto shops are awesome but they tend to be more expensive because they dont screw people out of more money. These guys seemed like the dream team -- honest AND inexpensive. They just earned themselves a new loyal customer, even though I live across the metro.

I was leaving town on Friday June 30th for a long 4th of july weekend and realised i needed my oil changed i called Jeff at 9:30 Friday morning for a oil change and he told me to bring it in and they would see what they could do. i was headed north on my trip at 10:45 thank you Lowry Repair Center as always excellent job.

I trust this shop and would drive out of my way to take my car there. Super upfront mechanics and I never feel like theyre pushing me to make unnecessary repairs.
