EXCELLENT coffee. Got the Mocha and Pumpkin Spice latte. Just sweet enough without being overbearing, the foam was executed wonderfully. Also got a bag of house blend beans which I find is far superior to standard mass-produced beans you get at the store.
They make their own (really really awesome) syrups for their lattes. Bonfire mocha and lavender pistachio are two of the best. The waffles are also delicious.
Friendly barista and great coffee! I had a French vanilla latte with almond milk and loved it. Not too sweet which I appreciated. :)
This little gem in downtown midland is amaazing 👏GREAT ATMOSPHERE, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD. They literally hit all my key points. Pluuuuus they serve waffles all day? I mean you literally cant go wrong 🤷
The Loch has some of the best coffee in Michigan. The staff are always friendly and able to assist. They are super allergy friendly and will offer vegan, gluten free, dairy free options. I have always loved every cup of coffee I have gotten from The Loch. The owner is fantastic and started the shop from the ground up at a young age which is amazing. If you have an afternoon and want some awesome vibes, great music (one time I went in and they played the persona 5 sound track which scratched an itch Ive had to listen to that sound track at a coffee shop irl) and friendly people, definitely give The Loch a try. Ive been coming here for years and I still go back at least once a month to get the gourmet coffee fix. The best shop in town that definitely has a loyal following.
The BEST coffee in Midland according to two west coast coffee snobs! If you care about the quality of your espresso drink, this is the only place in town for you. Delicious coffee, including the simple drinks like a plain latte or cappuccino--which is the mark of a great coffee shop. House-made syrups are original and delicious. The music is always on point, and although there is a small selection of food, everything they make is DELICIOUS. Sometimes we go for the waffles...sometimes we go for the lattes...but usually we crave both!
My husband & I are visiting Midland for a few days. This morning we stopped by The Loch coffee company to have breakfast. One other person was there having coffee. We were not greeted with a hello or ill be right with you instead she looked at us & turned around walked in back room while we stood there. After 5 min we left and went to Cafe Zinc where we were greeted with friendly staff on this beautiful Thursday morn
Seriously out of this world Waffles and incredible Coffee! Would recommend, and will be back!
One of my favorite local coffee spots! The staff is always super friendly and they always have yummy, fresh brunch options. Their creative lattes keep me coming back!
I love the Loch! It has such a nice atmosphere and such nice workers. Even if you don’t like coffee they have bunches of snacks/treats for you to try.
Best coffee in Midland. Everyone who works there is always really nice and provide great service! Also love all their food items on the menu especially the waffles!
Good coffee. Hipster style. Small menu.
Im a bit hermity, but whenever I do get out these days I end up at the Loch as a refueling place. The coffee is FANTASTIC. Ive made a point to try lots of different things on the menu and everything has blown me away. The Mexican Mocha is unparalleled and they make the BEST London Fog Ive ever had. Great price point for fabulous service, delicious baked goods, and what I now consider, the best coffee in town.
I went there today for brunch, and I was quite satisfied.I timed the delivery of our breakfast at 14 minutes for a large, delicious chorizo burrito with rich sour cream and fresh salsa on the side and my guests waffle and our coffees. The food was great all around. My Americano was exceptionally smooth and hot and complemented the donut I had alongside the burrito. Donut only captures a genre of sweets, not what I ate; these are immaculate confections: jumbo, soft, and succulent—everything a fresh donut should be—more like fresh-baked brioche than store-bought cake mix. I recommend the Loch make these donuts an everyday thing as soon as possible. Even their plain donuts are anything but ordinary and plain. The atmosphere has a retro vibe to it--retro as in 1920s-40s, with artisanal plaster tiles hanging over and huge mead-benches from Hrothgars wine-hall... a jazzy mix of Mile Davis Quintet, John Coltrane, and Chet Baker on in the background... with a half-dozen parties seated well-spaced from one another. I also appreciated the texture of the floor, for it would work well for my espresso-loving grandpa who would have trouble with his walker on carpeted floor. The staff were friendly, but did not talk your ear off, which is to my liking; Im not there to make small talk with anybody but my partner, anyway. The pricing is what you would expect from a mom-and-pop shop, so if you want to save money, I recommend the gas station down the road.... and if you only want Starbucks, Duncan, and Tims for your coffee and donut options, then dont frequent small businesses. I like having local options. You can get Starbucks at three locations in Ho Chi Minh City; you can only get the Loch coffee in Midland, so why compare them to Starbucks? It would be one thing to compare the Loch to other local coffee shops, such as Espresso Milano, who also care about their beans, the people who harvest them, and how theyre roasted after harvest. Its another thing altogether to compare a small business with a multi-national, multi-billion-dollar grossing company, who will survive the pandemic just fine without your patronage.
Tried to go there for the first time today. Website said open until 6. Walked in the back door at 330pm excited to try it and they said they were closed for cleaning. Perhaps should lock the door or update the website. I guess I’ll call next time before going.
Great downtown location. I dont drink coffee and I am lactose intolerant so I have waffles and their hot chocolate made with oat milk. Really yummy.
Took 45 minutes for a mediocre cup of house coffee and cold waffles. Wasn’t even busy. Bad.Edit: To provide context for the owners comments below, he did give us 2 doughnuts and apologized for having to wait 45 minutes for a cup of coffee and waffles. Spoiler alert: we still had to wait 45 minutes for a cup of coffee and waffles. Hahaha.
I love Loch’s second location downtown! Right across the street from where I work so it’s very convenient to get my fave iced maple and brown sugar latte!! Great place to get some work done or meet with a friend to chat. Wishing Loch great success!
Absolutely wonderful specials, delicious coffee and really kind staff. The coffee is high quality and they have awesome baked goods as well. Highly suggest this spot for coffee fans! Super chill ambiance too.
Great little coffee shop. Cozy and a great quality product.
Been coming here since it opened. Love the place. Only complaints are that the pastry selection is occasionally odd, the parking lot is awkward, and the cost of things is a little high, but the price is well worth the quality. The coffee is delicious -- best Ive ever had, with a good selection of both conventional and creative. Likewise for the teas. The pastries are delicious (most of the time). The weekend waffles are delicious, and a hearty serving too. The staff is very friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is so unique and relaxing. The owner is awesome. Just an all around great place and the only place I care to go for coffee anymore.
Excellent waffles, great coffee, wonderful staff! I love this place! It can be a bit chilly sometimes though. They have blankets for that :)
Consistently delicious. The vibe, the coffee, the food is all on point. They have fantastic rotating syrups which are very unique.I recommend the brown sugar maple latte iced. And grab a goat cheese spinach scone. You will not be disappointed. They also offer matcha which I consider essential for a good coffee shop. And they do a lot with it. Different flavors and styles of drinks.
Most flavorful and consistent espresso in town! I admire a good entrepreneurial spirit and young Jim is killing it by working hard while keeping a low overhead and turning out great coffee and pastries with a smile.
I love their coffee. They have fantastic waffles too! I highly recommend the parmasian aoli and the loaded potato 😋
If you’re looking for a pour over, this is THE place to go in Midland. Super fresh coffee from their roaster in Mt Pleasant meticulously brewed into your cup. Several single origin coffees to choose from to please your palate.
This was my first time here. Got one of their lattes that was intriguing. I am formerly from Southern California so I have some experience with coffee houses. The Loch Coffee Company has some innovative flavors of coffee as well as a creative breakfast menu. I will be coming back for the coffee but I may have to get up early and get breakfast!
First time visiting. The staff were really friendly and helpful with suggestions. The brown maple latte they suggested is probably one of the best lattes Ive ever had.Great atmosphere. Small, quiet place. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.
Amazing waffles and superb coffee.
I get the same thing every day, but it’s perfect so why deviate? They’re coffee, waffles and pastries are incredibly delicious! Next time your in pick me up my usual!
Rode our bikes here Saturday evening around 6 (they close at 7) and it was very quiet. Its a large area with lots of seating including a few seats outside. I had the nitro cold brew, yummy.Stephanie was very friendly and helped us figure out if a specific tea was decaf but we instead decided on a simple decaf coffee (which was also delicious). We also had the last very berry bar (which is made there) and that too was delicious. I think next time Ill try a gluten free option 😊For meeting friends or a quiet reading spot this seems to fit the bill and Im looking forward to visiting again soon.
This is a lovely little spot! Super cozy and trendy looking on the inside. Its a barebones, small establishment with a lot of love put into it.They basically only serve coffee and dessert baked goods here, so dont expect a four course meal. The prices are pretty standard for a trendy coffee shop... Between 1 and 5 dollars per drink depending on how fancy the title of the drink is. My drink was delicious.Inside, theres a few kinds of seating, including high chairs at the bar, window seating, and a lounge area surrounding the fireplace and art wall. Good spot to spend 2 minutes or 2 hours in. The lady who made my drink was super friendly and engaging!I recommend it overall.
I was blessed to be invited by my sister in law and her mother for some coffee to this gem. The atmosphere is hip, calm, and unique, the coffee is incredible, and the staff and owner are polite, informative, and accommodating. I was pleased to find the menu was not only creative but seemed to be very well throught out. I will surely demand they take me back on my future visits to the area!
Rather expensive cup ‘tall’, $3.45, vs $2.17 at Starbucks.Loch house blend has good taste, full body and low acidity.Must ask for coffee cream, not available on condiments shelf.Atmosphere resembles a warehouse; Patrons Noise level is a bit high due to reflection off painted concrete block walls (typically 70-75dB).Floors are dull grey with pitted surface, consistent with warehouse decor.Aisle to Restrooms piled with carts, busing trays and misc junk.Workers dress very casual. Knit caps and Hoodies prevail.Music choices are good and acceptable volume; Wifi is good.
This place is pretty stellar. Great coffee, good service, pretty good prices. The decor and atmosphere is pretty great. Only two small drawbacks kept this from being a 5 star reviewTheir POS system automatically gives you the option for a tip, starting at 15%. To not tip you have to select a small button underneath the bug ones with percentages. They also have a standard tip jar. Pick one and stick with it.And this may be a personal thing, but I went there and it almost felt like the place catered to regulars, not the common traffic. My service was completely fine, but the service some received after me (who were clearly regulars) was absolutely top notch. All in all, a great place, and would go here again. Dont let my nitpicking get you down.
A great new location for this terrific local coffeehouse. A solid variety of drinks that are handcrafted and delicious.
Probably one of the best cafés Ive ever been to. Great service and great coffee
I love this place. Great coffee. Good food. Incredible service. Lovely atmosphere. Im an artist. And this place inspires art like no other place Ive ever been. Love it here.
So delicious! Came in from Detroit and was told I HAD to come here. Not disappointed. I had the Uganda Vanilla late with almond milk, and the Slasher waffle ( they were out of the siracha so we subbed for aïoli) my friend across had a Maple Brown sugar Carmel latte over ice with oat milk and the churro waffle. The owner made our drinks and was so kind. The environment is calming and they even have cute little throws on the chairs if youre chilly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! They even have scrumptious looking pastries i hear are divine!
Great coffee shop! Staff is friendly, coffee is the best in the area, and the waffles... the waffles are amazing! Really, all the baked goods are great, especially the key lime pie. You wont be disappointed.
Only had a brewed coffee, but it was really good! Probably the best cup of Joe Ive had in Midland. Ill be back next time Im in town.
Aww, everyone here is so nice and so kind. The drinks and food are both amazing and the atmosphere is definitely one of the most modern ones in Midland. 12/10
Unique and quality coffee drinks. Fair prices. Good service. They have waffles.
Amazing waffle selection on the weekend and good handcrafted coffee drinks. I really like the oat milk option as well. This is a good place to sit and work on a laptop.
Great, clean, modern atmosphere and friendly and knowledgeable baristas. And the drinks are very good. Pour overs and espresso powered by Ponder Coffee roasters out of Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Nice quiet place with good coffee. Weve had waffles a couple of times that have been good. We always have a nice, relaxing time here. They do their own baking for snacks.
I might have had a better cup of coffee somewhere, sometime, but I cant recall it. Their mocha with the dark chocolate was amazing. Nice ambiance, friendly competent staff.
The Food was delicious
Great ambiance and friendly service. Loved the laid-back vibe. The cappuccino was EXCELLENT!
The Loch kind of has a hipster feeling, but in the best way. The waffles are delicious and reasonably priced and their drinks are creative and delicious. Absolutely recommend.
Excellent atmosphere. Great coffee, good prices and a fun place to hang out. Live local music, local art, and a quiet back room for a more intimate gathering. Great staff.
Cool and/or hot coffee for cool and/or hot people. If you are neither cool nor hot please dont be deterred - they are still quite cordial with me.
Newly opened in 2016. Nice vibe--good for getting work done or hanging out in a group. Coffee selection and variety is not as well-defined as more established coffee shops
Great atmosphere, great coffee, great owner! Spoke to Jim for a few minutes and was blown away to find out he was only 20 and owned his own coffee shop. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends!
Great ☕️coffee! Homemade g🍪🍪dies and waffles on Saturday morning! If you know what GOOD coffee is then you will really like this place.
Good food but not kid friendly. Barristas werent the greatest (didnt seem too friendly). No hight chairs or changing station for kids. Small bathrooms, too small to take kids in with you. It was also uncomfortably warm. Seemed like they didnt want to run AC in their business or even have it.
Good pour overs and good Mexican mocha. Stay away from the cold brew unless you taste it first and decide it is your thing. Ordered it once and it was super acidic. Cold brew should not be even remotely acidic.
Prices are high, drinks and waffles are just ok, very hipster vibe.
Fresh, great tasting coffee in this unique coffee house. The waffles they serve are great too!
Best coffee place i ever had beets the bucks by far and close to me. They want donations to open another one downtown.Great!!!
Amazing coffee! Friendly staff. Comfortable vibe.
I absolutely love it here. Great coffee. Great employees. Really nice place to relax and get stuff done.
They were nice enough to make me something that wasnt on the menu and it tasted delicious! I really like this place, comfy atmosphere and super pleasant staff that are knowledgeable about their coffee.
Best coffee Ive had while traveling throughout Michigan, their breve cappuccino and coffee lemonade are my favorites. The shop is cute, the ambiance is chill, and the employees are very friendly. I highly recommend it!
This place makes me happy to work I. Midland because the coffee and the boba is top notch !!
Friendly service, modern feel, and great coffee! Highly recommend their Strawberry Mocha and their White Raspberry Mocha. Oh, and dont forget to check out their community wall to the right when you walk in. :)
Curtis, youre wrong they have been in business for two months so I doubt there are regulars be a man. This place had amazing coffee and I will for sure be coming back so I can become a regular. Talked with the owner Jim, seemed to be a very nice guy and knows his stuff.
Great coffee and great people. The environment is really cool as well. Midland had needed a place like this for a long time and its finally here.
Excellent locally owned. Owner is fantastic and provides great customer interaction. Knowledge of coffee is impressive and rare. Delicious Narrativality roasts to choose from.
They are simply the best here. Fine brews and some fine folk behind the coffee bar. Love watching this place grow.
Pretty good coffee, even better people. Great vibe, cool building, awesome merch. I am a big fan. Definitely coming back!
No drive through but good coffee. Quiet, artistic atmosphere. Best mocha in Midland.
Peaches waffle was on point. The berry hibiscus tea tasted like water with 1 drop of mio. Service was poor, it took almost 30 minutes to get our food and drink. Disappointing for a first visit.
A great and cozy place to hang out and study. Very nice staff who make great coffee and food.
Americana 4shot long pour, pure Black. Smooth, aromatic, and served with good friendliness. Now in my top two local houses.
Great craft coffee and savory breakfast options.
Great coffee, lots of options, and the waffles are bomb.com. very chic and boho.
Great coffee, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. Tastes better than Starbucks too.
Very unique, almost hole in the wall style coffee shop. Absolutely love this place and will be coming back.
A great little shop that is independently owned. Theyre baked goods are also fantastic!
I love the atmosphere. Very calm and welcoming. The matcha latte is amazing. Not too sweet, just right. The Carmel Macchio was delicious as well. One of the best Ive had.
Open mike night Thursday. Enjoyed it a lot. Homemade macaroons last week were great.
Pour over coffee was weaker than most places, but the Americano was fantastic 👌
Amazing waffles! Plan on it being very busy on the weekends especially.
Fun place for a waffle breakfast/brunch. And nice coffee/tea too.
Im not a fancy coffee person, but this place is pretty relaxed and has a nice atmosphere.
