Johnstons Subaru was doing the best they could do for us, considering how their business was impacted by the microchip shortage. As opposed to many regional dealers, Johnstons chose not to increase the price of the new car we bought at all. Several other Subaru Dealers increased the price of many new cars over the MSRP by 10-15%. On top of that, Johnstons salesman Glen was polite, patient, responsive and thorough in delivering the car. Granted, the Outback is one of the best cars on earth, but the fact that it can sell itself could lead to salespeople taking the position of Do you want it or not?, but not the case at Johnstons. Just like the Subarus attention to detail and reliability, Johnstons showed us the very same, and we look forward to working with Johnstons going forward.

We had looked at several dealerships looking for a Subaru Crosstrek without success. Salesman Glen McCartney gave us a catalog to look at colors and options. We could not find the exact car we wanted but realized after searching that there were very few Crosstreks available. When Glen was notified one was coming to Johnston’s Subaru he contacted us. We were happy to get one and thank Glen for keeping an eye out for us. The facility was comfortable to conduct business and the folks at the dealership made our experience positive.

Terrible Service. They dont return phone calls, received my car back with broken turn signals (they were fine when I dropped it off.) The car was for my elderly mother and when I did not receive a return call from the service dept. after leaving several messages over several days, I emailed the owner at the email address listed on their website. Nothing, no response. Very poor way to do business. We will not be using this dealership again. Funny how the dealership only responds to positive reviews...

Bought a new Forester and both Mike, salesman, and Mike, finance person, were extremely helpful with process. When I picked up vehicle was amazed in how much detail Mike explained all the features and buttons on the car. Signing for the loan was very speedy as well as the Forester being registered and plates put on. All personal are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for great experience.

Subaru is a great auto and the staff is very friendly. I went to look...found a car i wanted, they even came down in price and did me a favor by holding it overnight. Then when I called and said It is a definite sale, they wanted the non refundable deposit from me. When I asked how soon I can get the car (they originally said the service garage was backed up and the car needed inspection etc...) they THEN told me :Not until the last owner pays up their loan and clears the title. There is NO clear title but they want an non- refundable deposit on a car they cant even sell legally yet...I do NOT care how business is done...I dont do it that way. They lost the sale AND a customer.

I have to say that Johnstons Subaru treated me like I was not just another customer buying a car. They went out of their way in every part of my purchase. As we know cars are hard to find and everyone is short staffed. But at Johnstons Subaru they really treated me like I was one of their own and found what I was looking for. The General Manager is a great guy and always seemed happy and joking with customers. He really helped make this a fun and stress free purchase. I looked him up on the website and found he does it all and volunteers as an EMT for over 17yrs and flies airplanes. He is the guy I would have running my store if I owned one. Brought my 2019 here because of a creaking noise. They claimed a can of carpet cleaner I had under the passenger seat was the noise. I called back to clarify that was not the noise I was hearing and it definitely was not coming from the interior. The advisor was very rude and talked to me like I was stupid, as well as claimed the noise was gone. They offered to have a technician ride in the car with me when I picked it up but I declined because I knew Id rather go somewhere else. I heard the noise still immediately after pick up. I brought it to a different Subaru dealership and they found the problem immediately. Middletown claimed to have inspected the right strut but apparently they did not because that was the problem. I did call to speak to someone else after I picked it up to let them know the lack of customer service I got and they were very nice and offered to look again and I could have a loaner car but I decided to just go somewhere else instead.

Sadly, my experience was nothing similar to these great reviews. I came here ready to purchase a vehicle with an excellent credit score and a significant down payment to lower my monthly payment and they basically showed me the door several times. The numbers they kept giving me seemed high and even when they explained it to me, things didn’t add up. I left and spoke with Bank of America about an auto loan based on the figures we had discussed and the monthly payment was $100 different a month! In addition, they offered me the lowest trade in value for my vehicle than numerous other vendors had offered me already and wouldn’t budge on the price, for my trade or the vehicle. Not even a reasonable 2%. I understand the market is tough right now but they showed me a vehicle with significant body damage and one of their floor models had ripped leather seats. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. There are better deals and quality elsewhere! Buyer beware of their numbers.

I visited the dealership looking for a new car, and was being assisted by Salesman Steve Bandaronek. Steve was awesome, and never pushy. I looked at a few vehicles and would have gladly given him my buisness. Unfortunately the dealership was running very low on stock and I was not able to buy a car from them, due to the shortages from the pandemic. I would recommend salesman Steve Bandaronek any day if you are looking for a new Subaru.

The service dept was courteous and helpful. Came back to speak w/me when I asked if I could wait instead of getting a loaner car. I was able to wait. Didnt take long. Explained that I have some minor things wrong and did I want them taken care of or wait. I was not pushed either way. Was my decision to wait. They offered to bring my car to me when was done. Handling my crazy questions both on the phone, email, and in person when we showed up to pick up our cool new Subaru!! My wifes mom was in Michigan, We are in Brooklyn and Johnstons Subaru is upstate New York. We bombarded him with requests and assistance and he answered everything with care!Picked us up at the train station and first class service to even sending a text with my favorite Sirius XM radio station on the screen to assure me it was in our car!!! The car itself is beautiful, drives great Here comes the BUT. Within 2 weeks of owning the car the wiper blades started coming apart and there is something behind the dash that shifts left and right when I make turns. Havent had the time to return to the dealership do to my working hts.

After having no luck with another Subaru dealership I turned to Johnston Subaru. This was my first time financing a vehicle and I was nervous! My friends told me to be careful, dealerships are out to scam you, don’t let them know you’re desperate for a car. I walked in expecting the worst. Then I met Andy. After a quick chat we sat down and he asked me what I was looking for and what my budget was. I told him my numbers and what I was and was not willing to pay. We found a few cars in my budget and we test drove. At no point was a car pushed on me or did I feel like I had to leave with a car that day. It was so easy and awesome! We even had a few interests in common. Andy walked me through the whole process and followed up with me and made my experience a breeze! Idk if Subaru reads these buuuut give Andy a Raise! He’s awesome and I’m so happy with my new car! I’m definitely coming back if I find that I need/want another car, I hope you’ll be there Andy!

I love the sales and finance portions of Johnston’s Subaru. I’ve purchased several vehicles from this location. However, the service portion needs restructuring. Every time I come for the express oil change it takes 2 hours plus. I travel about 45 mins and always call ahead. They should return to an appointment based system.

I haven’t had a new car in quite a long time and really wanted to check out the Legacy. Michael and Don answered all of my questions and let me take a 2020 out for a test. Beautiful car. I wish i could say their service department has gone down hill but it was never that good. Highly unorganized and many mistakes. I sat 1 time for 3 hours waiting for an oil change and come to find out they never even knew my car was there. I often also lose stuff every time I take my car there. Expensive $400 glasses gone. Another time my car wasnt working right because some thing fell in my engine filter. Because I said I dont want to replace it only clean it they threw the stuff back in and left my car like that. Another time I asked for a inspection and they didnt do it and wanted me to wait like 2 months for an appointment(never have this issue at honda). Sad because I like their cars but this will be my last Subaru car. Saying sorry doesnt fix the issue.

I decided it was time to buy my first brand new car so in August I visited the showroom and met the salesman Alfredo. I knew I wanted a Crosstrek and he showed me around a 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I test drove one and he was super helpful and a real down to earth guy. Wasn’t like most salesman, in the sense where he didn’t try to screw me or make me buy anything extra that I didn’t need. I test drove one and fell in love and he was super helpful the whole time. Fast forward to January and I had to bring the car in for its first service. With buying the car I get 10 free oil changes included so I brought it in, they took the car right in immediately for me, and within no time the car was done and ready to go. No hassle, no issues, nothing. In and out. I would recommend Johnstons to everyone I know!

Knowledgeable, flexible sales staff helped narrow down my wants and needs to find a great sedan. Finance was simple, fast, and straightforward. Stuff happens, I understand, but when the finance person accuses the salesperson of being less than honest, it gave me pause.When I showed up for the pickup, the Salesperson stated I did not arrange my insurance and the car would not be ready.When I reminded the salesperson that he,In fact included me in a conference call with my insurance co. and insurance was in fact was in place, the salesperson would not acknowledge his mistake, and again honestly, was insulting, and continued to impute my honesty.Actually there were several other instances that occurred as well, but want to move on.Honestly, the product is great, but it was really the worst car buying experience I ever had.Would recommend Subaru, but definitely would not recommend purchasing at Johnston Subaru.Worth the ride to another dealership.

Very happy I came to this dealership. From the dealer Steven to Michele with finance. Very non pushy and they know their products. They threw in many extras and continue to follow up via email with how the car is running. They offer a great bumper to bumper five year warranty on certified preowned vehicles besides from the existing powertrain warranty that came with the purchase. I would recomend this dealership to family.

Very disappointed I went in to the dealership because I was looking to buy a Subaru legacy the receptionist was very pleasant but when I went to talk to the salesperson he was very short on his answer and it looks like he didnt want to get up from his chair, so I just walk out and the only thing that he had to say was thank you for coming. If this dealership wants to make sales they need better employees that they actually want to do their jobs....

I bought a Subaru from them 8 years ago. I have already sold this car many years ago. I am still getting letters from Johnstons that they want to buy back my Subaru. I even moved but they somehow have found my new address and keep sending me letters. And I keep getting calls, texts and emails to buy extended warranty on my Subaru. I have told them numerous times I dont have the car anymore and to remove me from their mailing lists but the junk mail just keeps on coming! You are forewarned, buying from Johnstons is a lifelong commitment to Johnstons junkmail.

This was our first official lease ( previous was lease trader so it wasnt the same as we basically took what was there ) It went so smoothly. Justin was so helpful and not pushy at all. He gave us time to think about it and held the car while we did. We were looking at either a Outback or a Honda CRV and he worked with us to make Suburu a comparable deal. He went through everything the car offered and helped with the differences between the outback and forrester and let us test drive both. It was a very pleasant experience. I would certainly recommend Justin and Johnsons Suburu dealership to friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Michael. Michael was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and seemed interested in helping me from the moment I arrived. My mom had recently got surgery and Michael was nothing but great to her. He constantly asked if she was okay, if she needed ice or a chair, or simply something to drink, which I really appreciated. Basically, he made us feel comfortable and it honestly felt like I was talking to a friend rather than a salesmen. Initially Mike found me a used 2014 Impreza, but it didn’t work out so he was persistent in finding me the right car. We eventually found a 2017 Impreza and I love it. Thank you Micheal! If you happen to go to this Subaru, ask for Michael.The only downside is that my car has two different hub caps on them. I reached out to see if I could get that fixed but haven’t gotten a reply yet. All in all, if you are buying a used car make sure you look thoroughly to make sure everything is right lol. I didn’t notice because I purchased it while it was dark :(

Horrible customer service. Brought my car in three separate times and twice was told it was all fixed, only to drive home and all the lights came back on. Third time they had my car for a week told me they couldnt fix the issue unless I had all receipts of my oil changes. Put about 266 miles on the car over the time they had it.When I called back a fourth time they said they could no longer help me with my problem even tho it was still under warranty. I eventually called Subaru of America, brought it to another dealership and it was fixed in two days. I will never bring my car to get service in this shop ever again. Extremely unprofessional.

Service department is great! New facility is beautiful, clean and following all the COVID-19 rules. I’ve had the good fortune to deal with Maureen in the past when my husband got his Subaru from Johnston’s. She is personable, knowledgeable and helpful always. This time I bought a used Subaru from a private owner, had questions about setting up my phone to enable hands free use and decided to ask for help from the experts. I showed up at the service desk, and Maureen connected me with Cameron, a true tech wiz, and in a quick minute he set it up! He’s worth his weight in gold.
